Constraction reviews in Kansas City, Missouri

Very happy with our deck project. We have a large deck with both a covered and uncovered portion with a patio below. We went from wood to composite. We had 4-5 companies give us bids. Creative Concepts was knowledgeable, professional, but not aggressive in terms of trying to make a sale. They were not the cheapest nor the most expensive. We felt confident they would build our deck safely and up to codes. They were efficient and clean. Our project took about 6 total days. We are VERY happy with the finished product. We highly recommend them.

Caleb and his team did a great job. Extremely solid construction at a very reasonable price. This company was referred to us by industry insiders and they did not steer us wrong. Have received many comments on how well constructed our new deck is. I was also pleasantly surprised at how thorough and efficient the demo/build team was. Would definitely recommend this outfit to friends and family.

This project was fantastic start to finish. We consulted with several companies about the job. Caleb was knowledgeable and assisted us in justifying our project’s approach based on our expected stay in the house and attempting to justify the return on investment. He actually talked us into a smaller job over what we really wanted to do. Which made sense. We discussed the project, designed it, and got it approved. They completed the job on time and efficiently. It took only a week, and it was a significant job. Aaron was excellent in construction, and everything seemed excessive for the required work. Overall, it was a great project with no questions, no overages, and just a fantastic outcome.

I'll preface this by saying the backyard work we had done was the biggest project we've committed to since becoming homeowners 12 years ago. We went into the process a little intimidated and stressed but those things were quickly alleviated after meeting with Caleb.
As far as structures go, our backyard consisted of grass, minor landscaping, and a wooden deck we were oh so tired of maintaining and repairing. Once the thought of switching to composite popped into our head things quickly snowballed. Our intention was to tear down the deck, make it a little smaller, and move to composite. We also wanted to add a little bit of concrete for a firepit, seating, and grilling. A hot tub was on the bucket list too.
We met with five companies. Creative Concepts wasn't the least or most expensive but right in the middle. What sold us was Caleb offering his suggestions and vision versus all others just going along with what we (as first time renovators) thought we wanted. We loved Caleb's plan of cutting cost in some areas and extending a concrete area for a potential hot tub. It was too perfect not to jump in on!
The deck came out beautifully with the added privacy wall. Even during the deck build we had a couple small things to change and it was no issue. The concrete work was completed first, only needing to fill in a spot once the deck was finished.
In the end we got everything we wanted and things we didn't even know we needed until speaking to Caleb. I can't honestly list out a single con. To that point the only thing I'd say is if you've never had concrete work done, be prepared to do some yard/grass rehab afterwards. The process can certainly tear things up with the machinery required.
The photos I've added are before landscaping has been done. That will take some time and I'll update once it's completed. I'd recommend Caleb, Brent, and Aaron all day every day. -
Our previous deck and patio were in terrible shape, and we did a ton of research before landing on Creative Concepts and Design. Caleb provided an honest quote and gave us options for different layouts that we could try out. Other companies wanted to just rebuild our existing deck, but we knew we wanted something different to create an outdoor living space. Pat was a joy to work with and always answered any questions I had without hesitation. The first picture is where things started. The second was after the crew finished, and the third is with our finishing touches. We couldn't be happier with how the project turned out. The crew was very respectful of our home and even put up the fence that had to be taken down every night so that we could let our dogs out in the yard. The project was completed quickly, and the craftsmanship is immaculate. I would recommend Creative Concepts and Design to anyone looking to have a project done.

I waited a year to write this review because I wanted to see how the deck held up and how Caleb managed any issues. I can report that both the craftsmanship and Caleb followed through when I called him back after the build to correct a few small items that appeared.
Our deck and pergola was a major investment for us and we wanted to get it right. Caleb built my last deck and did such a great job I called him back to quote this project. Caleb understood codes quite well and was able to note issues another builder had missed in the concept. Caleb brought in an architect to help me out with ideas and to draft plans for permit. Caleb's price was transparent and in-line with the other pricing I got. He helped me out on some value add ideas to save money without sacrificing quality. Aaron did a great job on the project, always there when he said he would be there, and even going with the flow when I made in-flight design changes. Very nice crew of guys to work with. I'd highly recommend Caleb as he's an honest, straight shooter who knows his craft. -
Caleb & Glenn & Aaron were great! Fantastic design ideas on how to maximize the space, deliver a great looking product, and meeting our budget. Kept me informed along the way so I wasn’t guessing on timing or outcomes. Per Caleb's suggestion, we added a deck over a too small patio slab that extended out to allow room for a grill. Screened in the previous patio area so we could enjoy bug free evenings this summer. Made the space much more attractive and comfortable. Glenn was much more creative than other bidders in what to do about the patio area we also wanted. His suggestions were to create a more aesthetic and usable space including a dry creek bed to deal with our back yard flooding issues, sitting wall that complemented or existing retaining walls, and recessed lights. Everything looks great! Just in time for the first snow in Lee's Summit. I’ll have to do pictures another time when the snow is gone.

Creative Concepts poured a 100 sqft brush finished patio extension for my home in Kansas City. I am very happy with the professionalism, communication, and especially the final product. The patio extension looks great and my wife and I look forward to using it as soon as spring comes!

When we made the decision to get a bid from Creative Concepts and Designs, it was a great one! Caleb was so kind and easy to talk to. Really listened to what we wanted, he is definitely a professional with deck design ideas. They were busy, so we had to wait a while to get our new deck, but I will say it was well worth the wait! Caleb, Pat, Aaron and the crew were all wonderful to work with. Our new deck has exceeded our expectations in every way. Would highly recommend using them!

We got quotes from 4 different companies about building a new deck. Caleb was by far the most knowledgeable, honest, up front, and nice. He provided us with a concept that no other company had proposed and we didn’t realize was possible. We got a much bigger deck out of it, and we are extremely grateful for it. We went from a wood deck to composite, and to me it was worth it to go composite. Aaron and the crew were fantastic! They completed our project in under a week. They went above and beyond. We had to leave for a trip for a week, and they came out on a Saturday to put the finishing touches on the deck to ensure it was completed before we left for our trip. Overall a fantastic experience from start to finish! Very happy with look and craftmanship of the new deck.

Caleb, Brent, Aaron did an excellent job on our deck from start to finish. Caleb had excellent design ideas, pricing was transparent, and paperwork (insurance, contract, permit) was professional. We talked with 5 different contractors and Creative Concepts was the clear choice.
The construction itself was also top notch. Aaron quickly demoed the deck to make way for Brent to pour our concrete patio/sidewalk and build our retaining and seating walls. Once the concrete was cured, Aaron went to work building us a high quality deck at light speed. The team discovered wide spread defects in the decking before we did and had replacement material delivered without slowing the project down at all. It was great to have a team doing quality control on our behalf as if it was their own house.
Creative Concepts and Design built us a high quality deck at lightning speed for a competitive price. I highly recommend Creative Concepts and Design.

Recently moved to KC, MO. Wanted to replace a very old deck with a combination deck and patio. I met with 3 different companies and while all were good, Creative Concepts & Design stood out as a leader. Their company name is very accurate. Their webpage accurately describes consultation, selection and build. The team that handles all of these areas are true professionals with a great design sense: Caleb (sales and design) made some very good aesthetic suggestions based upon my descriptions; Tony (deck product selection) spent a great deal of time with us to choose color and style; Brent (patio project manager) walked us through all of the possibilities from color to patio stamping and did a superb job on creating the patio; Aaron (lead carpenter) carefully constructed a beautiful deck to complement the patio; and finally Pat (project manager) kept everything moving forward and on schedule. We felt as if we had the perfect team taking care of our project every step of the way. If you are looking for talented professionals, look no further than Creative Concepts & Design - great company with great people.

My family had a great experience with everyone at Creative Concepts & Design during our complete deck rebuild. From beginning of the estimating process to the final product we've been very happy with every interaction and above all, the new deck is high quality, looks great and we're already enjoying it. They are the gold standard that other contractors should follow!

We bought a home that needed an upgraded deck and outdoor space. Caleb, Brent and Glenn were great to work with. Each provided ideas based upon our inspirational boards and vision of our new outdoor space. The process from idea to bidding, to demo to new construction was communicated and done in a timely manner even during the Winter months. We are very pleased with our space and how it turned out. Creative Concepts and the folks who work in this organization are great to work with. I will not hesitate in using their services again on any of our outdoor spaces in the future. I highly recommend this group. They all went above and beyond, which was appreciated, having considered our golf course lot, HOA rules, and keeping in line with our style and vision. We are proud of our final space. Please see the pictures that document our journey.

TLDR: Creative Concepts and Design LLC is a fantastic contractor that I would highly recommend.
Ive spent tons of time reading through contractor reviews so hopefully this one helps someone out.
Our old deck was falling apart and was unsafe to stand on. I’ve spent 2 years asking for over a dozen quotes and trying to get settled on the final design. I wanted three main things:
1. A safe, simple deck
2. Vertical cable railing
3. Stamped concrete underneath the deck not to be ruined in the process.
At the end of my deck reseach, each contractor was given a list of 8 items with all the specs I knew to ask for.
Caleb came over and provided design ideas to expand the deck so the supports wouldn't ruin our stamped concrete. His imperative was to build a safe deck up to the code. He is not a sales guy but gives a vibe of someone who knows how to build a good deck. He utilized prefab lengths for material I wanted and designed around those to minimize material waste. I asked for rework of layout, and Caleb was able to design with those considerations in mind as well. One support that needed to go into the stamped concrete was done in a way to preserve it.
Pat is their communication specialist and probably a PM and sounds like an absolutely delightful human with tons of patience and care for his customers. Every request I've had, Pat made sure to address it.
The 3 person team that built the deck was led by Aaron. These guys are incredible workers. They show up at 8, and work really hard without stopping (other than 1hr lunch break) the entire day. They communicate at the end of the day about their plans and tried to keep the area as clean as possible. Deck was demolished and built in a week with some material damage replacement. This was all done in really rough temperatures (demolition started when ground was frozen, and they worked through really cold temperatures, followed by higher temps and mud that followed). They were communicative and attentive to my concerns. I really liked that they returned scratched deck boards instead of installing them and asking for forgiveness. Their replacement material arrived in a day, so it looks like they have a good relationship with theur material supplier. Totally irrelevant to the project, but they pulled in my trash bins on the trash day, so really appreciate their character as well. Semi-relevant to the project, but not in their scope of work, they evened out the path that got impacted by their work in the mud and took extra care to make our lawn as intact as possible. They're an excellent team and are proud of their work and want to do it right.
I'm a micromanager when it comes to supervising contractors working on my home due to all sorts of experiences in the past and I didn't feel like I had to do anything. I have ring cameras around my house and was able to watch them make substantial progress throughout the day. I'm also always looking for the best deal, and although they were not the cheapest from all the quotes I've received, they are worth every dollar with quality of work they provide, design ideas that are up to code, and desire to do a good work. I would 100% recommend them. -
Quality of work was excellent and very happy with the end result. Timeliness and length of the project is the factor holding it back from 5 star status. Your patience will be required.

Pure Blue did an excellent job with the flagstone patio, outdoor kitchen, fireplace & firepit. Elliott McCalleys attention to detail with the stone work is a work of art! Highly recommend!
-
Pure Blue (Elliott) exceeded our expectations, was on time and on budget. His attention to detail and customer satisfaction is second to none. Highly recommended.
-
We have worked on several projects with Elliot and his team, He is very knowledgeable and communicative. We are completely impressed with his work, and it just keeps getting better.
-
We’ve worked with Elliot and his team on several projects in the last few years and have been really pleased with both workmanship and timeliness.
Elliot’s knowledge and commitment to our satisfaction is why we keep coming back. Our projects have ranged from pool work to landscaping and were all completed on time and on budget. -
Elliott and his crew do phenomenal work. Our pool/spa turned out really well and he is very responsive. Only reason I didn't give it that extra fifth star is how long our pool build took. He had a smaller crew and multiple projects (high demand) going on at once, which caused it to take much longer than we anticipated. If you can set realistic expectations on timeline and be patient, he does great work.
