THE BEST !!! In Brooklyn it’s hard to find good people , LOU is the best I will honestly never call anyone but him 3 jobs later and he still
Gives the same exceptional service. His word is his word I can vouch for him with my eyes close cause I known for a fact he is going to do what he said he will do it will be done right the first time with no issue. -
I called L&B after my hot water was damaged from flooding. I was in dire need of service as my girlfriends 3 unit building did not have hot water and she was traveling overseas. Boy did L&B come through. I called them at 12:50 and the new hot water heater was installed by 5. Keep in mind that half of Brooklyn was flooded out. So, these guys really came through. Thanks again L & B.

We had a flooded basement. We hired a plumber who came tried to clear the lines and did nothing ! ( charged my father) then found L&B mechanical. They came the next morning and fixed the problem in no time. Also got the basement cleaned up. Louie did a great job . I would definitely recommend them.

Fixed my toilet at half the price as the first company I called. Louie was awesome, finished the job in no time and he’s funny to boot. Highly recommend.

Louie has helped me get boiler up and running during cold weather emergencies. He’s very thorough and methodical. Good response time as well.

Louis was amazing, needed immediate service for an ancient boiler that failed and within one day I had a brand new system installed. A-z, no hassles, no mess. He did a tonnofnwork rerouting chimney exhaust, all new piping, back flow etc…highly recommended.

I would like to thank L&B Mechanical Plumbing for providing professional and reliable service. They were able to install a new hot water heater in just a few hours. Louie and Leonardo are great in getting the job done! Don’t hesitate to call them for a quote. You won’t be disappointed!

This review is long overdue. I had an extremely frustrating experience with Luis from L&B Mechanical and cannot recommend his services. My heater stopped working in December 2024. Luis initially diagnosed an issue with the low water cut-off valve but chose to rewire it instead of replacing it, claiming it would save me money. I was charged $550 for the work, but only after agreeing to pay an additional $375 for maintenance; otherwise, it would have cost $680, far exceeding the $375 diagnosis fee he initially quoted over the phone.
Just a day later, the heater failed again. I mentioned that the low water cut-off valve could be the issue, including after reading that a dirty or faulty valve could cause the issues I was experiencing. Luis repeatedly dismissed this, telling me to "stop reading" and insisting the valve was functional.
Over the next several visits, he replaced the thermocouple ($150), when that didn’t work, he insisted the vent damper was the issue, charging $475 to replace it. I had specifically pointed out that the pilot light wasn’t going out due to the wind, and the issue likely wasn’t related to the vent damper. He dismissed my concerns, blaming the “direction of the wind”. Finally, he replaced the flame sensor for $175. Each time Luis replaced a component, he confidently claimed it was “100% the problem,” yet my heater continued to fail. Throughout this process, Luis continued to insist that replacing the valve was very expensive and reiterated that he was trying to save me money.
After weeks of frustration, I hired another plumber who immediately identified the actual problem: the low water cut-off valve. For $320 ($150 labor and $170 part), this issue was resolved completely. My heater has worked perfectly since.
Luis repeatedly ignored my input, misdiagnosed the problem, and caused unnecessary expenses and stress. He is overconfident and wasted my time and money. Avoid L&B Mechanical if you value your time, money, and peace of mind. -
Louie was a pleasure to work with. He was efficient, timely, responsive, and completed the job at a reasonable price. Did not try to upsell me anything and told it like it is. He also made time for any follow up needed in a timely manner. Would definitely recommend L&B Mechanical and would use his services again as needed.

My heat went out Louie came same day few hours later assessed the issues. Turns out we needed a new boiler. Louie right away got me quotes and gave me options indifferent price points. At no point was he pushy whatsoever he even told me I can shop around if I’d like. In the end we went with Weil McClain boiler . Not only did Louie change the boiler he also changed some archaic steam piping for me in the boiler room bc he wanted me to have the best possible usage of my new boiler. Louie and his team were respectful clean and covered up my whole basement and floor leaving not a single piece of dust when they left. Louie also followed up hours later seeing how me and the family were doing and if the boiler was working as it should. All in all Louie and his team gave 110% in effort here and I’m very pleased. I would definitely be calling Louie again in the future if needed and I highly recommend him if you need a plumber!

I live in a 10 unit 5 story building. My management company hired L&B to diagnose a leak and then fix what turned out to be a clogged drain pipe. He found the issue, fixed it and was on his way in under 2 hours. All in a building he has never been in or worked at before. Very impressive. His communication was thorough and effective. I would recommend him again.

Louie was great. Came to check out our plumbing and faucet issue quickly and gave a competitive price with excellent communication. He cleaned up really well and took all the trash with him. Very reliable and stress free. We highly recommend!

I needed someone in the area when the water heater was not turning on. Had a call with someone named Louie and luckily got him the next day for the maintenance/ repair to get it working again. We had a detailed conversation regarding the water heater and the issue at hand. He didn't try to sell me on any additional services but gave me his honest evaluation and some recommended remedies. Very professional and definitely recommend, especially if you are someone new to this like me.

Ok. Whenever you use somebody based on reviews, not a referral, you likely cross your fingers and hope for the best best. I called L&B for a hot water heater and had it done, cleaned and hot water flowing in a few hours. Absolutely unbelievable. I have already given him work for my son’s house. That’s big. Use Louie with confidence! Excellent work, clean, fast and on time.

Avoid. Was sent faulty pro-press valves that did not have an o-ring for the press seal and was told I need to pay to send them back. Their offer was to send an o-ring and have me place it in the valve. Would never trust a plumbing job to that. I would suggest ordering from a reputable supply house - these guys are not.

Great selection, had all the parts I needed. Super fast shipping. Just wish the amount to get free shipping was a little lower, I would use them more often.

I am giving 1 star as I can't give 0. By the way, C rating on BBB (which is still too high) and not accredited. As others stated, the customer service is non existent. We ordered a toe kick heater to replace the 20 year old one we had that finally stopped working. After installation, it was determined the sensor was defective. My professional installer called first to explain and got nowhere. They said they would call me. After a week of no calls, I called and was told the same crap... waiting on manufacturer. My options were BUY a new unit, BUY a new sensor and if I returned the defective item, at my expense, they would refund less fees. After being told several times, there is nothing they could do, I asked to speak to someone else and was told I was being rude for raising my voice and no one else could help me. They also blamed the professional installer for making a mistake in installing. Unreal! I finally just asked for the manufacturer's phone number. They did give it to me. I called and was immediately told it was under warranty and they would send a new sensor right away. Also, she gave me a direct number to call in case it still does not work after the new sensor. If Pex didn't want to deal with replacing, they should have said to call the manufacturer right away and avoided all the hassle of providing horrible customer service. By the way, I found this unit $50 cheaper at two other suppliers after purchasing so their price was not really good either.
Would never recommend this company. -
I found the pricing attractive online for several gas boilers, and contrary to other competitors they listed delivery timelines prominently. After I ordered/paid, I was promptly informed that the advertised delivery timing was not accurate for heavy products shipping by freight. Not a good start.
HOWEVER the customer service rep was available by phone and was excellent, understood the urgency (cold and the need for residential heating), and helped expedite the shipment for $100 which I felt was reasonable. I received the products in well-packed condition via FedEx freight on the original promised morning.
Improve/update the web display of shipping estimates, but overall I will use this vendor again because of the follow-through! -
I ordered standard 3 ft copper pipes (nothing on the listing said it was a special order), and I even bought a few extras just in case. When I tried to return the unused ones, they suddenly claimed the items were “special order” and refused the return. The pipes are still in perfect, unused condition, and I was even willing to pay for return shipping. I’m sure they could resell them easily, but they didn’t want to work with me at all. I won’t be doing business with them again.

Products and prices are appealing, but be prepared for a difficult experience if you need customer service.
In my experience, both the service agent and manager were rude and defensive when I tried to resolve issues with incorrect shipments. It took multiple phone calls and emails over nearly two months to receive the correct parts and obtain refunds.
What should have been a straightforward issue became unnecessarily time-consuming and frustrating due to poor communication and support. Based on this experience, I would not recommend them. -
After being promised a 24–48 hour refund that actually took over a week, I can finally leave this review.
Let me start with the positives. Pex Universe’s website is easy to navigate, especially for HVAC and plumbing supplies. Shipping was fast, and whoever packed the unit did a solid job.
Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end.
After opening the box, I immediately noticed that the Beacon Morris BM-22-24x56 panel radiator was bent. I’m not new to these units — I’ve installed several of them across multiple properties as replacements for baseboard and cast-iron radiators. I usually source them through my brother, a major contractor in the five boroughs, but he didn’t have this specific size. Ironically, he’s also the one who recommended Pex Universe.
I contacted customer service and was told to email photos. Anyone who’s dealt with bent panels knows they can be hard to photograph, but I sent multiple angles anyway. The female manager responded by saying the unit was “supposed to be like that” and that it wouldn’t affect performance. I made it clear that this wasn’t about performance — it was visually damaged, and I refuse to install a bent radiator in a newly renovated apartment.
I asked if they had another unit in stock. I was told yes. I then asked if I could bring the radiator back for an exchange, even though I had paid for shipping. I was told yes.
The next morning, I returned the unit — only to be told by the same manager that she would not exchange it. I explained I wasn’t accusing them of causing the damage — it could have happened in transit to them or to me — but I wasn’t paying $630 for a damaged product. She repeated that it would “perform fine” and claimed that all new units are like this, then stated the model was discontinued and refused to compare it with other units.
She offered only a refund and refused to sell or exchange anything. At this point, the interaction took a very uncomfortable turn. When my father — who helped transport the unit — offered to purchase it himself, she stated she would not sell anything to us. When asked for a reason, she repeated that the unit “wasn’t damaged” and ended the conversation (she profiled us).
That same day, I contacted Beacon Morris directly. They confirmed the model is not discontinued and that the panels are supposed to be straight. In other words, I was lied to.
To make matters worse, a week later they attempted to withhold my refund, claiming a fitting was missing. The unit was returned with all original packaging, shrink wrap, hardware unopened, and it was never installed or taken to the job site.
This entire experience was unprofessional, dishonest, and unacceptable. What should have been a simple exchange turned into a disaster due entirely to management’s behavior.
This $630 transaction will cost them thousands in lost business. My brother — a high-volume contractor in the five boroughs — will no longer purchase from or recommend them, and neither will I. My advice: take your money elsewhere.
