We have used Birchcrest for our landscaping , tree removal, planting new trees, and spraying some trees with insecticide. They’ve done a wonderful job with tree removal. They might be alittle more expensive than other places. They planted 2 Japanese maples on the south side of our property - neither of them lived. They didn’t charge for the replacement. We paid quite a bit for them to remove landscaping in the front of the house (east-facing). Only 2 of the plants they planted lived. They also removed pines on the south side of the house and planted different bushes. Some of those didn’t make it either. 1 bush and 4 ground bushes. We had to buy more low bushes plus many plants for the front of the house where they worked on our landscaping. We haven’t had the best of luck with landscaping plants. We paid a lot to Birchcrest for the landscaping and Japanese maple and ended up having to pay more to replace all the plants, etc. that died. But, I was more than pleased with all the trees they’ve had to remove.

I have used Birchcrest Tree and Landscape several times in the past. This time I needed to have several branches in 2 trees removed. The 3 employs took the time to explain what was the best for the tree. After the trees were treated all the cut scrap was completely removed. As in the past if I have tree problems there're the one I'll go to.

    AVOID IF YOU CAN!

RGE contracted this company to 'Prune' around our power lines. I was alerted to their presence trampling my gardens in the backyard when I attempted to let my dogs out. The crewman had said he'd just jumped the 6 foot fence and didn't know anyone was home. He of course made no attempt to come and knock on the front door, or the back he was busy trespassing into find out. I unlocked the gate for him and his team so they could more easily come and go getting all the branches out and the foremen assured me they'd just be pruning back the branches that came within 15' of the lines. I went back inside to continue working and then noticed out the windows that they had no idea what 15' was. The trunk of my tree is 15' from the fence and grows away from the fence line. The power pole is another 6' on the other side of the fence so these branches were trimmed 20+' regardless of their height, growing direction, or proximity to the lines themselves. Some of them needed to be cut back sure, maybe even outright removed, but cutting every single branch on one side of a tree all the way back to the trunk? That's just lazy and poor workmanship.

I came back outside as they were finishing up my first tree. They had decided distance from the lines didn’t matter, and basically took off every branch at the trunk even remotely growing towards the fence. Branches that were well past 15’ and growing perpendicular were gone. Shade over my shed and gardens gone. Mature branches that grew 10' below the lines and were drooping presenting no danger of ever interfering with lines under the heaviest of winds were gone. My tree now looks like someone took an arbitrary line and removed everything on one side of it. Before pic is last one.

The gardens, plants, and shrubs that were not stepped on or had branches dropped 20+ feet onto them will likely still die as any shade on that side of the yard is now completely gone. My wife and I spoke to the workers and foreman and received rude rebuffs from the crew while the foreman was a bit more understanding. He apologized and said that yes it’s a poorly done job, and that they clearly took too much, but chalked it up to some guys being better on the saw than others. Thanks for giving me your B squad after I'd already come out and spoke with you for jumping my fence and breaking into my yard. I was thankfully able to convince him to leave the second tree for another day when he can bring his best team and do the job properly.

Their contract, with RGE, was to trim and prune branches that could endanger the lines. That's fine, expected, and appreciated. Instead they simply hacked everything back to the trunk of the tree because it was easier, quicker, and it wasn't their property to worry about. You'd expect a little bit more from a team headed by an arborist "with two degrees" to know a little better about pruning.

The tree looks awful, the workers were unprofessional and rude. Anyone reading this should strongly consider someone else if you need tree services in the future. We will be lodging a complaint with RGE as well, and we fully expect someone to compensate us for all the plants and gardens they ruined. God I cannot imagine how much worse it'd be had I not been in my home office.

They were here on the hottest day of the year so far and were quick, professional, careful to not cause any collateral damage. Everyone we dealt with was great and we had some big guys to take down

Drew came out to give an estimate for leveling out an area where our sewer line was just installed in the front yard. He was very thorough and friendly. After many calls went out for estimates, he was the only one that called back and came out, so Birchcrest got the job. Drew and Josh came out on the hottest day of the summer, 104 degrees heat index, did a fantastic job of removing rocks, leveling it out and raking in topsoil, plus seeding in a little over 2 hours! And fixed where the Bobcat made tracks in the lawn! Awesome going above and beyond guys, thank you! Now go swimming!

The gentlemen were on time, polite, courteous, and cleaned up behind themselves. It was a pleasure to have them on the property.

Highly recommend Birchcrest for any of your lawn tree needs! Fair prices, EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE! We had an extra large pine tree by our wires in back yard. They took the tree down with extreme care. The guys were totally amazing, friendly and professional. When they left you would have even known they were there! Clean up was perfect! Thank you Birchcrest!!!

My lawn was in need of professional assistance to rid it of weeds and other invasive plants. The treatments from Birchcrest have made serious strides in bringing it back to health. I will continue to work with them in the future.

ZERO stars but I had to do at leastone to post this review.
RG&E hires this company to "trim" trees from wires. These people dont know what they are doing and if they do, they clearly dont care. They come thru and completely butcher people's trees, shrubs, and lawns and leave the pieces behind for the homeowners to take care of. The orchard behind my mom's house, once lush and green, was completely destroyed and looks absolutely awful now. She actually had to call them to come back and remove the debris otherwise she would have had to take it to the curb like her neighbors. I had a young tree in my yard they completely cut down to "clear the wires" and now the corner of my yard is all open. They are horrible at what they do and they dont care as long as the job gets done. Pretty sad this is how they treat nature and disrespect the lawns we all work so hard to maintain. Now things are totally wrecked and all we can do is wait for everything to grow back.
RG&E should have contracted with JM Tree Service... they are very knowledgeable and care for people and trees like they are their own and have so much respect for the homeowners and trees they work on.

Had lawn treated yesterday. Bruno always does a great job. Very thorough, spends a good amount of time and does not rush through.

I was disappointed that I was not informed when the job would be done. I had said I wanted to be present when the job was done because I wanted to give some guidance as to what I wanted done. Since I was not present, there was too much trimming done, including an area that I had stated I did not want trimmed at all, and I was unhappy with the end result.

I would give six stars if I could. The guys showed up and knew what they had to do regarding trimming one of my trees. They also made additional suggestions for the removal of branches I missed in my assessment of what should be taken out. I agreed, and after everything was done the tree looked great. It was symmetrical and I had no more concerns about the larger limbs dropping on people or cars. They ended up by cleaning the lawn around the tree, as well as my driveway. I couldn't be happier with the total job. Money well spent!

The company has the RGE contract for tree trimming around power lines. They completely ruined my maple tree. totally gutted it, The tree will never be the same to the point I will need to have it removed. Based on the rest of the reviews I am surprised to see the current rating. They would get zero stars if I could go that low on the rating.. I would never hire this scab outfit., Save your self a headache and please go else where for tree and Landscaping services.

The entire process was very quick and seamless. The staff was professional, punctual, friendly, and informative. The finished landscape came out even better than I visualize. Very impressed with this company. Would highly recommend.

Birchcrest Tree & Landscape performed a large tree removal job on my next-door neighbor's property on 12/05 and 12/06/2023. Birchcrest did not notify me of the job, did not tell me that they'd be blocking my driveway, and did not tell me that my electric and Spectrum cable internet would be disconnected. I came home from work on 12/05 at 2:20 PM to my driveway blocked, no power and no internet. I had to ask two of the gentleman to move their truck, so I could get into my driveway. My pets were sitting in a cold, 60 degree house and my sump pump was filling up due to no power. After making phone calls to Birchcrest and RG&E, my power was finally restored at 4:20 PM. My Spectrum internet was not restored that day. I called Birchcrest on 12/05, 12/06, 12/07, and 12/08 to request they contact Spectrum to have my internet reconnected. Each time, I got the run around, along with "let us contact the supervisor and call you back". The only person who actually cared and tried to help was Amy - thank you Amy. Due to the negligence of Birchcrest, I had to contact Spectrum on my own to schedule an appointment with them for 12/08 to have my cable internet reconnected. I should not have had to spend my time doing the job of your staff member(s) who contact the electric and cable companies to coordinate the electric and internet line requests.

I will never do business with Birchcrest and will never recommend them to anyone looking for tree and yard work. I'm so disappointed with how the process was handled - the customer service is terribly poor. Birchcrest, if you care about your clientele, please make an effort to properly communicate with property owners, utility companies, internet providers, etc. in the future. Showing that you care goes miles. Thank you.

We highly recommend Birchcrest Tree and Landscape. We had a few large trees in our backyard that were overgrown and becoming a hazard.
We received a very fair estimate from Jared who recommended the best way to clean up the trees and worked within our budget.
The tree crew were very friendly, careful working around the yard and were very skilled and efficient.
Birchcrest did an excellent job at a very good price and we are very happy with the results!

I'm writing this on behalf of my 82 year old mom that lives alone in Rochester. I live in Colorado. We speak every week and over the past few weeks she has raved about your service. Yes, you did great work and accomplished what was hired for but the bigger win for her was that you treated her like a person, not just a customer. She often feels she gets dismissed due to her age. You guys listened, troubleshot, and problem solved WITH her. She views her property as an extension of herself and so when both are treated well, she feels valued. Thanks for helping her.

The two Birchcrest employees were timely, polite and explained what they were going to do. They did an excellent job, they are our new tree company and we highly recommend them.
