HVAC reviews in Apex, North Carolina

We were getting the run around from our former HVAC company. We called Apex Heating and Air on a referral from a friend. They came out the same day, quoted a better system at about $1000 less AND installed it 2 days later. On top of that it was during a heat wave and I know they were very busy, yet they arrived and finished exactly when they promised. time

Disappointed...My cooling has been working well but my heating was not popping on. Shortly after repairing the heating problem I noticed that now the AC was not popping on. Being that I know for a fact that the AC was working fine prior to the technician working on the unit it left me feeling that the Tech made an error somehow. They wanted to charge me another $100 to come back out and look at the new AC issue that more than likely was caused by them. Save yourself time and money by going with a different repair company.

Excellent experience purchasing a new HVAC. The office staff took the time to discuss different financing options as well as address any questions and concerns I had. Installation was quick and technicians were very polite and professional. Definitely recommend.

Have used Apex Heating and Air for several years now for their Peak Performance Energy Savings Service Plan. My system is checked every Fall and Spring by their pro active scheduling . I once had a problem during extremely hot weather on a Friday afternoon at 4PM with house guests visiting for the weekend . Expecting the earliest a service call would be dispatched would be Saturday I was pleasantly surprised that a technician was dispatched immediately to arrive by 5PM . It was a minor problem and a miserable weekend was adverted ! All of the technicians I have been exposed to for my semi-annual checkups have been knowledgeable and professional. Couldn't be happier with their customer service .

After research, talking with 4 companies and getting their estimates, we settled on Apex Heating and Air. So glad we did! Great product, great service and they went above and beyond during the installation, even painting the gas lines to make it more attractive. According to Consumer Report, installation is THE most important day in the life of your HVAC. These guys were top-notch.

On the good side they were able to get to home same day. On the down side, very expense and not to flexible. I shared with Tech exactly what was going on and he was able to test power from fan run capacitor within a few minutes. Swapped out old capacitor and tried new one. This diagnostic was $98. Which is fine. Then was charged $144 for the new capacitor. Capacitor costs ~$6 to $20. But flat book rate from Apex is $144. This does include labor.. however the diagnostic fee also required Tech to put capacitor back in. I called Apex Heating and Air and was told not all capacitors have quality they have, and that it is a flat rate for replacing capacitor. Tech was there for a total of 25Minutes... charge was $98 to diagnose bad capacitor Plus $144 to replace $15 Capacitor

Called to schedule an appointment for AC maintenance with this company. Came the day of service and no one showed up. Called to see what was happening and the representative told me that too may people were out of AC and i needed to reschedule. Very unprofessional, would not recommend to anyone
Edit in response to owner:
Not only unprofessional, but serious lack of accountability. The owner makes some points that I will rebuttal in detail:
1. "...representative was doing all she could to get someone to your house until you called at 11:31. At that time we tried to reschedule but you decided to cancel all together. "--I called to find out at what time the service specialist was going to show up, the answer the CSR gave was "I am sorry, too many people are out of AC and we need to reschedule" This is all well and good, HOWEVER why is it up to the customer to find out the service technician is not coming the job needs to get rescheduled? Its the responsibility of the business to inform the customer of any changes, that is just basic customer service.
2. "...in this case we were not at fault..."-- Really? Are you serious? All you had to do was give a proactive call to the customers you'd be unable to service on the day they were scheduled. If i had not called to find out if i was receiving service that day I would have been waiting all day. Yes it IS your fault, as a business you failed to manage customer expectations and rather than do better or improve your process you decide to shift the blame. -
Brad is a great hvac tech working for a sub standard company. I was charged a $225 trip charge and $224 for a dual capacitor that sells for $23 on amazon. I’m no math guru but that seems like more than a 1000% markup. I’m fine with a 200% markup but C’MON man. Brad was at our house for 30 minutes of which 15 minutes was spent filling out the bill. So that works out to $450/hr labor or trip charge. We were in a desperate situation as we were having an open house that day. If your desperate and want to get robbed, Apex heating and air will double the bill. Again Brad is a great tech and the a/c worked perfectly. BTW - Didn’t see any mention of a warranty on the bill. I guess there is none unlike with most reputable companies. I welcome any feedback from the principals as I am anxious to see there response. It was stated that the owners are very religious and over charge for weekend work - well Jesus is watching.

Purchased a new HVAC system from them in December 2020. The fan motor went out on the air exchanger in August, a mere 20 months after paying $10K for this new system. Received a bill for $550 for labor and trip charge to replace part......for a system LESS than 2 years old. AND can we talk about $550 labor and trip charge for a job that took about 1 hour to complete?! Totally unacceptable. If you can't stand behind your equipment for at least 2 years then it's time to find a new company to do business with.

Had a great experience when we needed our HVAC system looked at. We were offered 3 different solutions based on affordability and how long the solution will last. We will be using Apex Heating and Air again when it is time to replace our units!

We have used Apex H&AC for many years, with a spring and fall service agreement and occasional repairs. During the last 2 years we decided to replace both HVAC systems as they were over 20 years old. In less than a year, one thermostat started to malfunction and was replaced with no problem. After a couple of months, the thermostat from the other would switch the fan to "on' by itself and remain operating until we had to manually return to "auto". The technician said we would need to "prove" to him it was not working properly, which was kind of strange. I proceeded to take hourly photos of the thermostat control to prove my point and sent them to Apex. After many calls, I was finally able to talk to the owner, who agreed the thermostat was defective, but would charge me $245 plus tax to replace !
The thermostat is under warranty, and I can understand some charges for their time to come and replace but I told him $245 was excessive, especially when we have been their customer for almost 20 years and just spent thousands of dollars on the 2 units. It made no difference to him and mentioned driving time and shipping costs. I offered to replace it during their next maintenance visit to save on driving costs, but made no difference. He then proceeded to tell me they had to charge me because they made some paperwork error when they installed the unit.... so in other words, I am being charged for their internal paperwork mistake ! I called several other HVAC companies, large and small, all of which offered to replace the thermostat at a small fraction of what Apex wanted and without any hassle. Conclusion: Due to the lack of customer service and arrogant attitude from Apex, they have lost a long term customer, while we got a new thermostat at a low price as well as a maintenance service agreement with another company. -
Great experience last week with Apex Heating and Air. I called late on a Friday, and they couldn't make it out same day, but suggested a temporary fix to keep my A/C working through a hot weekend while I waited for my Monday appointment. That day, the techs came out in a timely fashion, were extremely professional, solved the problem quickly, and went above and beyond with cleanup. Highly recommend.

We awoke to 10 degree weather with no heat at 5:30 am! By 7:30 am Apex Heating was here — did I mention it was Christmas Eve? In order to service their customers, the owner was at our neighbor’s across the street, and JJ, the Operations Manager was at our house. Obviously doing technician work was not their normal job responsibility, yet they came out to help their customers in a difficult situation on an important holiday. JJ immediately fixed our issue, was respectful and friendly, and obviously loves his work! After this great experience, we will never consider using anyone but them for our HVAC needs. Merry Christmas JJ and all the folks at Apex Heating! Because of you we are able to enjoy our holiday with family in warmth and comfort!

Apex Heating & Air just replaced my upstairs HVAC unit. I was impressed with them from the beginning. From the thorough estimate, to the multiple options I could choose from, to the quality products (Carrier products) and timely installation, they did a great job and I'm happy I went with them. They are true professionals and they have my recommendation.

Kenny (the owner) and his staff are truly professionals. They respond quickly and get the job done very well, timely and at a reasonable cost. He has always taken excellent care of my parents HVAC, and mine as well. I would highly recommend Apex Heating and Air Conditioning to anyone needing repairs or a new heating and/or cooling unit!

After building our home, we hired Apex Heating to make bi-annual inspections of our heating and air conditioning systems. Every service man who came to our home was professional, polite, efficient and kept H&A systems in top form. After 20 years of wear and tear on our AC system that caused damage to the coil triggering freon leaks, we had to replace our downstairs unit. Given the 90 degree heat (and no AC!), Apex Heating rearranged their schedule to install our new system the next day. They did a great job on the installation--we couldn't be happier. Thanks, Apex Heating and Air!

I've used Apex Heating and Air for the last 10years in various commercial and residential projects. Most recently they diagnosed 2 seperate issues caused by a roofing contractor. Susan up front worked to get us same day service while the technician Colton identified and rectified the issue to get us heat again. Thanks guys, we are very fortunate to have your services!

Aprox 2 years ago I was charged over $700 to diagnose and replace the defective smart thermostat they installed with my original system aprox 15 years ago. Part of this cost was $20 to use a credit card plus tax. The repair service was fine but I feel this cost was rather excessive and I told them so at the time and tried to get a response from Carrier. At the time of replacement the contractor believed this was a fair cost. I checked the current retail price of this Honeywell thermostat and it costs about $150 now but other smart thermostats are advertised under $50 (probably with a rebate). Possibly every HVAC contractor charges this much, so who knows if this is the going price.

I recently had an issue with my air conditioning unit. Kenny was quick to respond, professional, extremely knowledgeable and reasonably priced. I really appreciate Apex Heating and Air Conditioning! I have been using their services for almost 10 years and I plan to continue!

I've used Apex Heating and Air Conditioning several times, and I've always been happy with their service. They've done some repairs for me on two different HVAC systems and I also had them replace a system in a rental property. The employees are knowledgeable and always do a fantastic job. Most importantly, I feel like they are always honest with me and don't overcharge.

Kenny and his staff were great! We had to get a new heating and A/C system and Kenny and his staff were so accommodating to our specific needs and situation. They came out and did an assessment of our old system, got us a quote for installation the same day, and set up our appointment the following day! Now that is what I call service! The crew was so kind and professional in every possible way. The office staff was excellent at setting up our appointment and providing attention to every detail. We even were told about rebates and special offers – saving us additional cost! Our heat is working better than ever – we had no idea our system was that outdated! I would highly recommend Apex Heating and Air Conditioning for all your HVAC needs.
