Plumbing reviews in Carrboro, North Carolina

I've used these guys for over ten years on various projects. I honestly don't get the bad reviews on here. I know things don't always go perfectly, but what I ask from the contractors I use is to always stand behind their work, which they do. I've never not had them willing to come back out and make things right.

Josh came and replaced my shower valve cartridge. Efficient, fast friendly and no upsell. Fair pricing.

Wonderful job replacing one of my toilets with one that conserves water. Price was within reason and the guy who showed up was on time. He even cleaned up his work area spotless. 5 Stars for sure.
-
Professional, highly competent, and responsive; they were able to take care of our (medium-sized) job on short notice – can’t ask for more! We have called them before, and will continue to do so in the future.

So disappointed with the customer service! I was given a 10-1 time frame and I called at noon to see where they were time wise. I was very rudely informed by the receptionist that the plumber had until 1:00 and that he was running on time. Sure enough 1:00PM rolled around and I had yet to hear from the plumber. I was then told he was in fact running late and they had no idea when he would be arriving. I called another plumber and if you appreciate customer service not to use this company!

We've been customers of Sparrow & Sons for 20+ years, for repairs and upgrades. The service is always outstanding. Without reservation I highly recommend Sparrow & Sons

I called Sparrow and Sons to come look at a toilet drain line. The technician was here for 1 hour, I received a bill for a total of 2 hours plus machine use charges( close to a $300 bill) and my drain line clogged up again the next day. For sure will not be using Sparrow & Sons again.

Simply the best service and professional work I've seen. The help from beginning to end of our projects has been excellent. Highly recommend Sparrow & Sons Plumbing and their entire team of pros.

Ken installed a new kitchen faucet for us. Like other Sparrow folks I've interacted with, he was very courteous, personable and did first class work.

We discovered a wet floor in our lower level room about 7:00 pm on Friday. Sparrow's plumber came right away, expertly found the source of the leak, and fixed it right then, even though it required removing damaged sheet rock and a pipe replacement. He gave us a reference to a service to call to remedy a mold problem that the leak had caused. We went to bed that night with the leak fixed and an appointment for repair to start the next day. Excellent service!

I returned this week from travel to find pipes frozen and burst in my Carrboro basement. I called Sparrow and was told that because of a backlog of work, it might be a week before they could get to me but would put me on a waitlist. An hour later they called and said a plumber was on his way. The two plumbers who arrived were upbeat and helpful, and together they replaced the broken fittings, reinsulated the pipes and had the water back on within an hour. I give the service five stars. I haven’t seen the bill yet and will reserve an overall five stars till I do. Thank you, folks at Sparrow & Sons, for getting me up and running again.

i have used Sparrow Plumbing since 1986. they did the original plumbing in my house and a variety of issues . In the past they were prifessional, courteous and interested in the customer. recently after surgery i need to have i inline filter replaced. i called and ask that if someone was near my house perhaps so.eone would change this for me. Not an emergency. A plumber came . I gave him the filter and less than 15 minutes it was changed Sparrow sent a bill for $125 That is $500 per hour. When i suggested this was gouging they reduced the cost to $106. The peopke who built Sparrow obviously are not there any more. I was willing to pay but not gouging prices. In the past this would not have happened. Not sure who is running the business but the word family is gone from the firm

We contacted Sparrow and Sons because the toilet in our master bathroom was not flushing properly. They spent about 5 minutes at our house (literally). They walked into the bathroom and then out to our septic tank. They opened the cover to the tank, told my husband that it was full and said that there was nothing they could do for us since they don't do work on septic systems. That was all well and good. At least we found out what the problem was. But they charged us $225 for the visit for doing absolutely no work!!! And they charged us for checking the sewer line when they had done nothing of the sort!! This was outright highway robbery. We did get them to drop the charge to $175. But it was still ridiculous to charge that much to do nothing except tell us that there was nothing that they could do. We will never use them again.

Never use Sparrow & Sons !
I had three leaking toilets. Sparrow's representative came, worked less than an hour, repaired two of the three toilets by replacing flappers ($12.5), standard chrome toilet handles ($23.5), charged $260.
He cut off the water in the third toilet, said that the toilet is nonstandard, he will check in the office if they have required parts, or they will order them, or they will suggest us to replace the toilet by a new one. After five days with the toilet with no water I wrote an email to Sparrow & Sons asking what will be their next steps if any. I received an answer that they are so sorry and will let me know what is happening no later than tomorrow morning. A week later I wrote them an email again asking how thing are developing. They replied that they don't have my phone although they called me in the beginning of this story. I send them my phone and never heard from them again. -
At my request, Ken gave me a courtesy call when he was on his way. Ken iis a master plumber, working efficiently and effectively.
He's got a great attitude.

Recent interaction with Sparrow and Sons was a total waste of time and money. Asked them to put in a new kitchen faucet. First serviceman came out and looked over the situation. After much wrangling with the company, I finally got the specs and bought the correct faucet at Lowes. When the second serviceman came out to install it, he tells me that he can't do it because I have mobile home plumbing! His advice: Just let it leak. So I had to return faucet to Lowes and got absolutely nothing. Why didn't the first serviceman tell me that Sparrow Co. doesn't do plumbing in mobile homes?? I paid $95 for the first visit, but then they had the nerve to bill for the second visit. Only because the receptionist was very nice, do I give them one star.

I consider myself to be pretty handy, but sometimes I yield to a professional. That was the case when I called Sparrow Plumbing to install a commercial sink for me. I'd seen their truck driving around Chapel Hill for years and figured they must be reliable to have been around so long.
I couldn't be happier with the service Sparrow provided. They sent a seasoned pro to our warehouse and had this monster of a sink all hooked up in no time. The next day I noticed that one of the water lines seemed a little loose, so I called them again. They came over very quickly and tightened everything up and gave it a good test at no charge. I think the problem was actually more to do with the legs on this sink, but Sparrow's plumber was happy to help. They care about the work they do and it shows. -
Sparrow Plumbing is an excellent company. They came over and put in a new mixing valve and trim package on my existing shower. They also did the rough in work (new water lines etc.) for a new shower. Regarding the later, they had to get a bit creative to fit it all in. These folks are fair, honest and do excellent work. Mr. Sparrow will come over and give you an estimate in advance. They have my highest recommendation.

Jonathan and Sparrow & Sons is a breathe of fresh air compared to all the other plumbing companies I have worked with in the past. They really care about the quality of work that they do. Most plumbers focus on just bringing you up to code or giving you a service that is lowest cost to their company while sacrificing quality. Sparrow & Sons focuses on the right way to service their customers and their 5 generation family business really shows that. I would definitely recommend them to anyone in the Carrboro / Chapel Hill area as well as throughout the Triangle.

Sparrow was scheduled for between 2 and 4. At 4 I got a call that they were running late that they would be another hour or so. Since I had other plans, I asked to reschedule. Michael Sparrow told me if I did not let them come that day, it would be a week or more. I told this was unacceptable saying it was their fault I had used them many times and they should come the next day. Michael was rather belligerent even claiming they had a good rep in the area and inviting me to go elsewhere which I finally did.

I called Sparrow and Sons to repair my water heater. Another plumbing company had been to my house two times and it still was not working properly. Sparrow arrived on schedule and fixed it promptly and professionally. I highly recommend this company.
