HVAC reviews in Raleigh, North Carolina

I can only rate for the warranty department and technicians. Stephanie works in the warranty department and is very responsive. She seems to always be available when I call, which is great so I don’t have to leave a message and wait for a call back. We had a guy come out in the spring, I believe his name was Forrest. He was excellent. Very thorough with cleaning our evaporator coils. Recently had Collin come out. Really liked him and the kids loved him. When he came the kids were so excited and then wanted to show him several toys. He didn’t rush them and he took the time to listen to everything they wanted to tell him. He quickly fixed the heat and suggested ordering a new part to avoid it going out again. When he came back out to install new part, same excellent service. On time and worked quickly. Explained exactly what he was doing. Also, very good with COVID precautions. Kept mask on anytime he spoke to me and stood below the stairs after he rang the doorbell.
This company was hired by my builder, Shenandoah to do our HVAC install and has literally been one of the only companies used by the builder that I haven’t had one problem or complaint with! -
If “piss poor” were a company it would certainly be them. I have had the displeasure of dealing with Tonya to schedule this awful company to come to my residence to fix a thermostat on the first level of my home. It has been 5 weeks straight of canceled appointments, the day of, failure to show, and utter incompetence. We have not had heat on the first level for over a month now. Note to the wise, if you have an appointment scheduled and receive a call from Tonya the day of, don’t pick up. She’s calling to reschedule.

Original installer of my HVAC on new construction so I decided to use them. I've owned my house for 22 months. They've been twice. The last time it took hours of calls during business hours to get someone to answer. After the third system failure this past week and not having any heat over night I called another company. They showed me why my emergency heat wasn't working (not connected) and what was happening with my unit which was extremely cheaper than the suggested repair from Romanoff. Also after they started being in the closet for a few minutes he kept hearing electrical noises and shut down the electricity to the unit. After opening the switch box he found some of the inside completely melted. Seems pretty dangerous. I'm glad I finally called someone else.

My thermostat went bad, completely died. I called the builder (Lennar) since I didn't know who to call. They took 3 days to call me back just to tell me to call Romanoff. I had a service company come out ($70) to make sure it was just the thermostat. They confirmed that and also they skipped over some things (missing parts). Finally got a hold of Romanoff who said they had to do their own diagnostic ($90) and then $175 for the labor to replace it. I said it's just cheaper to switch it out myself and their response was if I did, my warranty would be voided. I asked about the missing parts and they said it was untrue. The lady on the phone (Stephanie) was very rude, unhelpful, and not the least interested in helping me. Judging by all the other comments here I'm not the only one. Since it's a Honeywell thermostat I called them and they are gladly shipping me a replacement free of charge. Kindness goes a long way these days. So does good customer service.

I’m honestly baffled how the reviews are as low as they are for this company. We had a technician come out and perform a service because we were no longer having cold air coming into the house. Two weeks later, we were experiencing the same issue. The next day, the same technician and the technician lead came out to take a look at the system. They spent two hours at my home, diagnosed and fix the problem with no charge. System has been working great and my family and I are very happy. Thank you so much!!

We just recently moved to the area from out of state and needed the services of an electrician. We looked at several companies and selected the Romanoff Group.
Matt their electrician came out and he was absolutely excellent! He was respectful, was very careful with our new home and cleaned up after himself. He listed to our needs and did excellent work! He was super professional and we were very pleased with the outcome! We highly recommend Matt @ Romanoff Group! -
Edit for July 09, 2024:
After a couple of years of no issues, then 2 days ago, my AC was not cooling anymore but was just blowing warm air. I contacted Romanoff and they were able to get someone to come by the same day I called. Anthony was very nice, patient and knowledgeable. He was able to quickly identify the issue which was the capacitor. He didn't have the right size capacitor on hand, but was able to join some that he had as a temporary fix so that we would have AC over the night. He then came back the next day to install the correct capacitor and all is well. Reasonable pricing and another great experience for me.
Professional and Friendly Service
With upcoming heatwave, my AC unit was not performing as expected. I contacted Stephanie and she confirmed my warranty information and was able to send someone out to look at my system the same day within a couple of hours. Colin quickly identified the issue and resolved. He took the time to explain what was wrong and things to look out for. Price to fix was also very reasonable. I had a great experience with both Stephanie and Colin and will be sure to request him if needed in the future. -
Unfortunately I should have read through these reviews before engaging with this company. Tiffany falsely accused me of calling after hours to follow up on a case (I have a screenshot indicating otherwise) and did not seem to believe any issue was occurring even after a detailed explanation. The on the ground technicians appear to be fine but the office managing these appointments does not appear to understand what customer service is...

I strongly advise against working with this company. The technicians themselves are kind and honest, but dealing with their customer service—especially Tiffany—is a nightmare. She was extremely rude and even admitted that they installed a faulty AC unit in my home. However, they refuse to take responsibility and won’t fix their mistake free of charge.
The technicians attempted a repair, but it only made the issue worse. The technician on-site even acknowledged that the situation had worsened, yet the company still refuses to restore the unit to its original condition without additional payment.
When I first bought the home I didnt know about the warranty conditions of the AC unit. I called Romanoff and they checked my home address and they said I am under warranty and sent their technicians to fix the problem. After doing that faulty fix that I mentioned above they said if I wanted them to come back and correct their own mistake that caused the vibrations to be worse, I would have to pay. It doesn'nt make any sense.
To solve the problem I left messages to the contact us option at their website. And they never responded to any of them. I left maybe 10 voice messages during last 5 months and called countless many times and yet they never answered.
Finally today Tiffany picked it up. I guess she forgot that she is not suppoed to pick up my calls(!), and she hang up on my face again.
Save yourself the trouble and go with another company. If your builder works with them, be cautious—there’s a reason their Google rating is 2.8.
I am giving them one star just because of my respect for the kind and honest hard working technicians they have. -
Quick unload once you figure out how to get in the damn place

If it wasn't for the massive delay I experienced with their "emergency hotline" my experience with Colin Baker would have had it as a five-star.
Long story short, I lost AC on Friday night and got it fixed Tuesday morning. The emergency hotline process has room for improvement to say the least. I'm in Shallotte and the one on-call tech that weekend was in Durham...I'm not going to go into that aspect but again, room for improvement.
Ultimately, the tech who came to start and test the new unit; Colin Baker was fantastic! He got our new AC unit up and running quickly and took the time to clearly explain how everything works. Very personable, professional, and patient as he made sure we felt confident using and maintaining the system. ****Highly recommend him!
PS: I talked with the infamous "Tiffany" you've seen on the other reviews here and she was very professional and fine by me. Nothing ill to say on her front! -
I’m extremely frustrated with this company and would not recommend them to anyone. I’ve lived in my home for just over a year. It’s a new build, and I was able to use my AC without any issues last summer. A few months ago, I had a problem with my furnace, and the builder sent someone from Romanoff out to take a look. The technician claimed nothing was wrong with the furnace but said he had redone the wiring.
A couple of weeks after my one-year builder warranty had expired, I tried to turn on the AC and nothing happened. I called Romanoff and spoke with Tiffany, who was very dismissive and told me they’d get to it when they had time. I never heard back.
I ended up having to call a different HVAC company, and their technician asked several times if I had ever been able to use the AC. Turns out the wiring had been redone in a way that completely disabled it. There had been no reason to touch the wiring in the first place, and it was redone incorrectly by Romanoff. Because of their mistake, I had to pay nearly $200 out of pocket to have it fixed, solely because someone from this company decided to mess with something that was already working.
I’m stuck with the bill for their incompetence, and they didn’t even bother to follow up. It makes me wonder just how much of their business is generated from problems that they caused. -
The place is all the way at back,i had 12pm apoitment, they start unloading right away, the space is really tight, there are some mini vans parked, but they are on the edges of the yard,so you will have just enough space to park the truck.
-
Truckers refuse to deliver here at all cost!
Super tight and impossible to back into dock, They have box trucks, van and pallets of stuff blocking you from backing and employees are refusing to move them for you!
Also after you unload you can’t pull out and have to back out of yard to street which is dangerous & illegal. -
This company is absolutely TERRIBLE!!! I wish I could give “0” stars!!
Please believe the reviews and don’t waste your time with them! Our Ryan home was built in 2019 and Romanoff was the company chosen to install and service our HVAC system. For a few years we did maintenance with them, and they were pretty good. However, recently our unit has been having problems and we’ve had to use them a few times.
As of today (9/6/25), our system is not blowing out any cool air AGAIN in the home. It’s literally over 80 degrees both up and downstairs. I reached out to Romanoff’s Emergency dept. and spoke with “HUSSEIN” (probably spelled his name wrong). I told him that the unit is having problems AGAIN and we needed it serviced today. It’s completely hot in the home, and my 85 year old mother who lives with us (and is a recent cancer survivor), is sweltering!
At first, he said he would come and would charge me $130 for coming PLUS whatever HE thought it would cost to repair the system. However, he later called back with absolutely NO care in the world, and told me to, “Just call and go with another HVAC company because I’m too busy! or just wait and call the office on Monday!”
To say I’m COMPLETELY OUTRAGED is an understatement! I will NEVER and I mean EVER use them again! That was extremely disrespectful and unprofessional on his part! And if this is an “Employee OWNED company” and it’s how they treat their customers, it’s awful!
Take my advice! Call Anyday HVAC service! They are professional, courteous, and came to our rescue! -
