As a new homeowner, finding contractors to fix issues happening in your home is not small feat. It is also not fun to be without hot water!
Jimmy and his team were responsive and incredibly helpful throughout the process, answering my questions and making sure I understood the what needed to happen, why and the repairs they were going to do. The pricing was responsible to boot!
The team that handled the installation of my new hot water heater were very nice and considerate, ensuring I was comfortable with the work being done as well as needed access to my home. Let me begin by stating that good plumbing ain't cheap...and it should not be. If you want cheap, then get ready to spend more in the long run and suffer all the trouble that comes with it.

I used Lane Plumbing for the first time last week to find and fix the problem with my water heater. It is a Navien tankless heater and I am really happy with it. It is 10 years old, and to my surprise, I should have been getting it serviced every year or so to have it flushed out. The mineral buildup from the water is a killer. Now, I know.

I had just returned from a hospital stay after surgery and could not shower for a few more days, but when I could, I really wanted it to be a hot shower. Fortunately, I knew the heater had a problem so I called Lane on a Thursday. Ty and Nelson showed up on schedule on Friday and diagnosed the problem. They would flush the unit to see if the "less expensive" solution would fix the problem. While it was flushing, they checked and replaced the shower valves in the master bath, which were also 10 years old and while might have been OK, I decided that replacing was smart. Back to finish the flush. No joy. I needed a new one.

It was now 3 PM on Friday! The office manager, Jane got busy and found one...the exact machine as mine. The team picked it up and returned to my place at 4, installed the equipment and I had hot water by 5:15!

Over the weekend, one of the showere handles developed a drip. drip, drip...some trash came through and got caught in a seal. I called Jane on Monday morning and later that day, Daniel showed up, cleaned the valve and no more drip.

While he was there, I mentioned that the heater took a long time to push hot to the shower and sinks and such, so he checked the water heater. He found that there was a switch that came from the factory set for an external recirculation pump. My system has an internal pump. (It makes no sense that they ship a heater that has an internal pump set as if it needs an external). He flipped the switch and we have instant hot water everywhere.

While he was there, he noticed a little more drip into the pan than was normal for standard condensation. Further investigation revealed a deteriorated washer in a pipe connection from the original install. He fixed it.

We went downstairs to check the heat at the kitchen sink, the furthest from the heater, and he noticed the handle was loose. He quickly tightened it up and hea was done.

What a great experience!

I think that Jane, the office manager has as strong a grasp of plumbing of most plumbers I have met. The plumbers are all Lane employees, not sub-contractors. They are well trained and all have lots of experience. Nelson has worked for Lane for 30 years! I think Ty said he has been there for 8 and I don't remember how any Daniel has worked there, but he obviously enjoyed the company. I mention all this because the workforce being stable is really important. The more stable they are, the stronger indication of a successful company. A company can not stay in business unless they continue to have a strong customer base, and that only comes from good work.

As I said, good work does not come cheap, but I no longer want to do this work myself so I will keep them on my list. I also passed their name and number to my 5 brothers, who all own homes in this area. I do not make recommendations lightly.

Did great work! They were on time, courteous, and quick. They're also upfront about their costs. No other local company I called was willing to give me their estimates over the phone for a drain cleaning and wanted to charge for just coming out.

Lane Plumbing is excellent in many ways. They were patient with all our questions to understand their process to replace our water line. Once we made decision for them to do work, within 5 days the new line was replaced and they did it faster to avoid weather concerns. The process is not destructive to our yard - it looks great. Best news - they cost less than all other groups. Thank you Lane Plumbing crew for all your help and professionalism!!

I had my refrigerator water line replaced and had a new shutoff valve installed behind the fridge instead of under the crawlspace. The job was done well enough, but the final price was double what the original quote was. The most frustrating part was that the guys had to run to the store to get something they needed for the job and I was charged for the hour that they were gone. Im not entirely sure if that’s standard practice, but to me it seems like a good plumber would come prepared for what I think is a routine job. At $175/hr that would've been the difference between a reasonable price and me feeling like I’ve been taken for a ride. Like I said, the work was good, but I’ll be trying a different plumbing service for future jobs.

Our sink clogged, and after trying several home remedies, we called Lane Plumbing in the early evening and talked to the owner, Jim, as first-time clients. He said he would schedule us for the next morning. Later that evening the sink ran freely; one of the home remedies must have worked after all. We called Jim early in the morning, and he said that he doesn't believe in trying to fix something that is working, and readily canceled the appointment. He said that he suspected there was still a partial blockage (I agree) and proceeded to give us some good advice on how reduce the likelihood it would clog fully again. So far so good!

We had two very pleasant chats, Jim was clearly very knowledgeable, and we really appreciated his suggesting we cancel the appointment rather than have someone come out and check. Thanks! We'll definitely call again next time we have a plumbing issue.

After I messaged several photos of my 15 year-old water heater located in a crawlspace and described the symptoms to owner Jimmy Lane, Jane provided a prompt, itemized estimate for replacement, including a 10% senior discount on labor. Lane was the best of several estimates, and the service was scheduled the next day. Workmanship and communication was excellent, and the crew even identified a hazardous grounding issue and recommended an electrician who quickly resolved the problem the same day (this fix would have been required for safety reasons regardless of the plumber used). I received a follow-up call the next day to confirm that all was satisfactory. These folks really care about their customers, and I highly recommend them!

Unfortunately, had a sewer backup when guests were visiting. Lane Plumbing was available within an hour. They did an excellent job restoring the line, and were friendly, respectful, and efficient. Really appreciated the prompt service! Will definitely call them again with any problems in the future!

I've had Lane Plumbing to my house to do a few different jobs since it's an older house. Each job has been done well and the plumbers that have worked on it have been pleasant to work with. They explain things very well so I understand what was done. Most recently I worked with Ty and he did a great job, going above and beyond to make sure he completed everything to my liking! I was even on the phone with the owner one day asking about getting my water heater flushed; instead of just taking my money, he explained the steps to me and said I don't need to hire them to do that. The price for other services has been one of the best I've found in the area, and having that come with the quality of their customer service is top notch. I'll be using Lane for any plumbing needs in the future!

Great expertise and prompt excellent service. High water bills and was referred to a franchise known for detecting location of underground water leaks. After that, contacted Lane Plumbing and was able to speak with owner and had informed discussion about “findings” and quote the franchise provided for repair, and options. Next day, expert crew arrived early and got job done…saved around $1800! Integrity is a must, and this is the crew. Carmilla in Chapel Hill.

We had the best experience with J. R. Lane Plumbing Co. We had been having a leak for ages but had recently got worse within the last month. Called a few people over for a quote and no one was able to feel confident with their diagnosis and one estimate was super high so we kept looking. Also, no one even offered to confirm and fix the problem ASAP. When I called J. R. Lane, I spoke to the owner and explained the problem. He was so nice and knowledgeable on everything and sent some guys over that afternoon. They confirmed what others couldn't and went on fixing right away! Within a couple hours the job was done and they even went above and beyond by taking our old hose out (they made us a new one coming out the house). It was just so great and finally our leak was fixed! Our electric bill will also thank you!

I had an issue with a waterline that had been leaking for a long time. I had a couple guys come out and look at it, but the only one that seemed to know what to do was Lane Plumbing. These guys are professionals and fair. The price was right. I appreciate professionals taking care of me. They also have the ability to bore a waterline which a lot of the others didn’t have A+

Had a water heater leaking and they came out and replaced it next day. Crew was professional and the setup looks much better than it did before. No loose hoses, no crazy gas lines wrapping around the tank.
