HVAC reviews in Columbus, Ohio

I phoned Hetter HVAC on Friday morning, the 30th of January, with a problem with my furnace. It was 5 degrees that day when I called. They sent a tech out within 1 hour, he got my furnace started, diagnosed the issue and scheduled me for a Monday call back. Great response time and very efficient and professional tech.

Hetter has been servicing our HVAC for over 25 years and we have always had great service. The recent service visit was no exception. My only complaint is that when they combined with Waterworks, they stopped sending out reminders for annual checkups which I always appreciated.

Hetter Heating and Cooling is a company I would recommend to anyone who needs work done on their Heating system or AC system. Their techs are knowledgably and upfront about the cost on any work they will perform. And have never tried to upsell me on anything.
-
Bad gas valve you would think they would last longer than 3 years it's man factors problem not the install at all. Nice service guy for sure. Todd is very good also and fair. Went with out heat all weekend but got it up and running on Monday. Great job water works.
-
I can’t speak to the reliability or integrity of the company, but if you are able to have the privilege of meeting Chuck, who has worked for Hetter For a long time, you will understand what an incredible person and competent individual that he is. I highly recommend him specifically. Fantastic service. A+ all around

My experiences with Hetter have been nothing but exceptional. Their techs are knowledgeable, efficient, and professional. They explain their findings, options, and reasoning. If you haven't used them, your missing a quality business

Lance was professional, efficient, and very nice. Repaired my furnace quickly. Definitely the most affordable business with great customer service that I have found for heating and cooling. When you call you talk to a live person right away, no menus to go through. Would 100% recommend! I plan on using them to replace my AC unit this spring.

I can recommend, without reservation, Hetter Heating and Cooling. We had a problem with our furnace not heating. The repairman arrived the same day, and corrected the problem with the furnace. But he went beyond just doing that. He inspected all the associated ductwork and found several leaks that would allow carbon monoxide to enter the house. He attached the loose ductwork using several screws, and then wrapped the ducts with sealing tape. He did a very thorough job and left us knowing our heating system was in good order. He was also very friendly and polite, and kept us informed of the problems he found and what he was doing to fix them. It was definitely first rate service.

The service representative was wonderful. He showed me how to install my own furnace filter and address concerns I had for the spring/summer check. I had my furnace air conditioner installed in 2018 by Hetter Heating and Cooling, and they have stayed with me, keeping my HVAC running smoothly ever since.
-
The water works installed metal ductwork to replace flexible lines that were hanging down way too low and using up valuable space. I wish I had before and after pictures because the difference was impressive. They listened to what I wanted and then got it done quickly. Nice work!

The initial "fix" by a technician on a Monday after-hours call failed by Friday afternoon. The technician came out that evening and promised to return with a needed part the next day, Saturday, around 11 a.m.
When I called Hetter at noon on Saturday, I was told the tech was likely busy. In a follow-up call, I was told the part was not in Hetter’s warehouse but could be sourced locally and installed by Monday afternoon.
This began a frustrating series of delays:
- *Monday (Late morning):* The local supplier didn't have the part, but I was assured that the part could be installed by Tuesday.
- *Tuesday*: I was told the part's location was unknown because Lennox didn't provide tracking, but it would "surely" arrive by Wednesday.
- *Wednesday*: Same lack of information and delay.
- *Thursday*: Same lack of information and delay.
- *Friday*: A different parts representative acknowledged that Lennox does provide shipping details. The part was now scheduled to arrive the following Tuesday—a full 10 days after the tech first promised to install it.
To Hetter’s credit, a service manager intervened at this point. The company sent a technician with a temporary substitute part to restore the system's function until the correct part arrived. The system was finally fixed that Tuesday, 15 days after my original service request.
The paperwork sent to me indicates that the work comes with no warranty, though there is no explanation for this. A customer service rep assured me that must be a mistake and that I shouldn't worry about it.
This level of service and communication is far below what I would expect for a costly warranty claim.
Pros
====
Repaired a Lennox furnace
Provided a temporary fix to provide heat while waiting for back-ordered part
Consistently able to talk to human beings, some of whom provided accurate information
Cons
====
Without heat for a seven days when outside temperatures were sub-zero
Misdiagnosed the problem initially
Multiple inaccurate statements from multiple people about when the system would be repaired. -
Hetter Heating & Cooling is THE VERY BEST. In years past I was a long time customer with an annual Hetter Healing & Cooling maintenance contract. I built a new home a few years ago and I signed up again for the maintenance contract. The techs are great, thorough and make it easy for me to understand what is going on with my HVAC system. A big shout out to Zach - he was knowledgeable and kind despite the fact that I caused the HVAC problem. And, he’s a funny guy, too. I’m so glad to be back in the fold! Nothing better than getting a service technician to come to my very cold house on a Sunday morning in less than 2 hours of making a call for service!

First, I don’t usually do a review. Hetter must have changed hands since the purchase of my HVAC system. I recall previous requests for service and was told 2 weeks for an appointment! This was a very different experience.
My furnace stopped pumping heat during this super cold winter. After hours, I was able to go on their website and actually schedule an appointment for the morning! This was so convenient and assuring. The fellas arrived and quickly assessed the problem. Since I had purchased the system from Hetter less than 10 years ago, the part needed was under warranty, so only labor was charged. This was to be an expensive part ! I had heat again in less than 12 hours from my request for service. -
Waterworks (a subsidiary of Hetter) came out to install a whole home humidifier. The sales person who made the initial visit was on time, polite, knowledgeable and helpful. The installers arrived on time, were courteous and professional and completed the work in a timely manner. Based on this experience I would use WaterWorks again for other related needs.

Dennis came out fast and got the furnace working again and a very fair quote on a new furnace. Our Home Warranty sent a different company out who both failed to repair the unit and then asked for 4x the Hetter quote for a new unit.
I have used Hetter for multiple home needs and they have always done a great job with fast service. -
Chuck was wonderful! He arrived on time; wore shoe covers to protect my carpet; explained what he was going to be doing and the pricing options; he was very thorough & knowledgeable (my furnace is 43 years old); he did not try to pressure me into buying a new system or getting unnecessary work done. I am very happy with the service I received today- I will definitely use them again!

I called Waterworks for a quote and second opinion on having my furnace replaced. A competitor of there’s had told me that my furnace had a cracked heat exchanger and needed to be replaced.
Scott McNutt came to my home to inspect and quote me. Scott inspected my furnace and said he could not find a crack but did not have tools to do a more thorough test. He was able to arrange to have David Scott come out the same day and complete a combustion test on my existing furnace. After a careful and thorough inspection and two separate combustion tests David was able to confirm that the heat exchanger was not cracked and that while my furnace was older (14 years) it was still fully functional and safe.
The patience, honesty, and care for me as the consumer were far above and beyond anything I could have expected. I will be purchasing a service plan with Waterworks immediately and ending me arrangement with my prior provider. -
We have been so pleased with Hetter Heating & Cooling. Our furnace was acting weird the week before Thanksgiving and they were able to work us in pretty quickly. The service man came on time and fixed the problem - on a Saturday. He informed us that our parts were under warranty and we were charged a reasonable labor price. Thank you Hetter - we are loyal customers from now on!

I have used Hetter Heating for years. They installed our heating and air conditioning systems, they have performed annual maintenance to keep the system working well. I can always trust them to fairly and honestly tell me what they would recommend I should do, when it comes to maintaining our systems. It doesn't matter which of their technicians does the work, they are all top notch. I highly recommend them!
