Grasstains LLC transformed my sad, overgrown, unfenced and not-level lawn into the wonderland in these photos. Every time I work in the garden now someone stops by to ooh and aah over all the changes. The project included creating concrete pads and walkways and a fantastic hog wire fence. The team I worked with: Dustin, as Project Coordinator; Stetson, Project Manager; Brian, Foreman; Patrick, Plant Guru; and Alfonzo, Matthew, and Luis, who worked on every part of the project were fantastic. They were all knowledgeable, hardworking, creative, polite and dependable. The project started in the spring and even with all the extreme rain, everyone showed up everyday cheerful and ready to go. I loved working on the project with Grasstains LLC and seeing my garden appear like magic. I recommend Grasstains to anyone looking for quality design, hardscape, landscape and fencing services and will contact them again when I need more work done.

The team of Gabriel, Guillermo, Adsemi, Carlos, Misael, Candido, and Victor all did an excellent job leveling our backyard, installing pavers, and installing our pavilion. The price was very competitive; their price which included a pavilion was comparable to other contractors' price for only the leveling and patio. The only cons were some hiccups that included an unannounced delivery, the project got delayed over and over again, and some minor communication issues.

Grasstains was a great choice. Chris and Geraldo did an incredible job transforming our yards both front and back, the quality is par none. They were always professional, kind and respectful. Choose Grasstains.

Our entire lot was a blank slate, mulch and gravel, 3 levels in the back, a huge multi level mess in the front. Grasstains worked impeccably and tirelessly for many months to design, build, install everything into a complete dog friendly oasis! We are so grateful to Matt, Sally, Stetson, Gerardo, Gabriel, Candido, Miscel, Jay, Chris, Guillermo, Carlos, and Aosemi for everything! We are keeping them on for maintenance. Creative design geniuses and the hardest workers I have ever seen. Even in the 100 degree summer heat, they finished ahead of schedule and it’s so beautiful.

Grasstains did a large remodel of our backyard with a huge amount of hardscape including pavers, an outdoor kitchen, and a gazebo. The team did a great job from start to finish. The people from Grasstains were professional and courteous and although the job took a bit longer than we expected, they really delivered on what we wanted.

Update [January 2025]: After posting this review, the owner reached out personally to address our concerns. They have since completed all outstanding items, even going above and beyond by adding additional mulch and adjusting sprinklers/drip lines. We appreciate their commitment to making things right.

Our experience with Grasstains was mixed. While they were capable of completing our landscaping project, the process revealed some project management challenges that we feel are important to share:

Pros:
-The vision they create is wonderful and their designer is able to effectively conceptualize needs during intake
-Workers & laborers were professional, kind, and courteous when on site
-When scope adjustments or change orders were needed, they were good partners in finding solutions
-Quality of completed work is excellent - we are truly happy with how our space has transformed
-When issues were raised, they ultimately made things right

Cons:
-Initial project planning had gaps - some basic elements (concrete removal, irrigation specs, entire back area, front street lawn) were missed in initial scope for phase 1
-Communication was sometimes inconsistent during the project
-Required more oversight than expected

The pricing structure and project management style seems better suited for high-budget clients who want to give creative freedom without concern for costs. For budget-conscious homeowners looking for precise quotes and careful project management, this may require more active involvement than expected.

For those considering Grasstains:

--The end result will be beautiful
Get everything in writing, especially changes
-Build in a budget buffer
-While project management had some challenges, they stand behind their work and make things right
-The design vision and quality of work is excellent

Had great work done on a landscape project from 7Dees and mainly Baltazar and Ferlandi and their crew. Very satisfied with the lengths they went to to make it a success!

I wanted to replace an old concrete deck behind my house with a more natural area. They came up with a design that blended well with the existing features, included a good mix of colors and textures along with being easy to maintain. Communication was clear and timely through all stages from the initial contact, design, scheduling, installation, and post install follow up. Access to the site is limited so the demo work had to be done by hand. Crew was highly professional, worked efficiently, and left a clean job site at the end of each day. Four months later all the plants are thriving. They will be my first call for any future landscape needs.

We had two estimates for replacing trees that were damaged during the ice storm and for replacing a gravel pathway under our deck that leads to our hot tub. We are so happy we choose 7 Dees Landscaping. Lars Nielsen did an excellent job giving us suggestions and responding promptly to any questions that we had. The finished work exceeded our expectations. Brady the foreman on the job keep the project on track. Attached is the photo of the stairs they constructed which also exceeds our expectations. We will be using 7 Dees as our yard evolves.

Wanted a 90 day landscaping service (leaf p/u, tree and bush trim, and mow, trim, blow and go, with no disposal fee as I have can and bags for waste) for the winter, quoted me $1500 for a 2 crew half day service for one day. If I needed more then it would be $1500 x 6 days = $9000 for a residential landscaping service. Definitely overpriced and no discounts offered.

My wife and I built a home and landscaped it 13 years ago on Bull Mountain in Tigard. While the landscaping and stairways into our backyard were great for a lot of years, our shrubs had over grown and our rock stairways had become unsafe for us to traverse up and down. I tinkered and tried to see how I could make things better. When I finally decided I was not capable of fixing things we decided to have a full facelift of our front and back yards. I had four companies bid on the job. The highest bid was almost where I thought they really didn't want the job unless they could really make an unreasonable amount of money. The third and fourth bids were extremely low and their salesmen could not show me comparable work that they had done. Dennis' 7 Dees Landscaping had the second highest bid and has a reputation of outstanding work. My wife and I have been married for 54 years and lived in the Portland area 49 of those years and have always heard good things about 7 Dees.
Kenna, the landscape designer, was to our house multiple times to walk our property and brainstorm about landscaping ideas and also how to stay in our budget. He was great to work with and took the time to understand what we wanted. Moreover, he was able to relay that information to Scott the project manager and Gill the foreman of the crew. Scott is a man with 39 years of experience and would come by every other day to help and advise where needed. Gill had a crew of three the first week and four the second week. The expertise shown by all of these folks was amazing at they put in new lawns, built two long stairways, planted close to 400 plants, and placed several large rocks. Everyday for the two weeks that they worked, they cleaned up the mess that comes with construction. And when they were done, not only was the project done better than we expected, they cleaned everything so well you wouldn't know they were ever here!

Dennis’ 7 Dees did such an amazing job on my yard renovation, specifically Angel and Baltazar on the day of installation. My yard, sidewalk areas, driveway and equipment (hoses, etc.) were treated with such great care and attention. The full updates to my front and back yard were done within less than a day and look fantastic.

The initial steps to get a proposal, site measuring and communication were all also professional and quick. Huge thanks to Eric and his team! I couldn’t be happier with the results. Wish I had done this project sooner!

Our experience with Lars Nielsen and the crew of Shalia, Joe and Julio was more than expected. From the estimate to finished project, everything was done professionally.
The project included removal of shrubs, replacing with new plants, major pruning of shrubs, brush cutting and bark dust. They were very respectful of the property.
We weren’t oversold on the project. Lars gave advice and we discussed what would be best choice of new planting.
My conclusion is it was money well spent. Professional gardeners have the resources of equipment and manpower.

Designer Lars is exceedingly knowledgeable about plants. He has been abundantly helpful in evaluating and providing advice on the health and growth status of a boxwood hedge on a shared property line with neighbors. He responds promptly and is a very clear communicator.
I wholeheartedly recommend him and Dennis’ 7 Dees to anyone seeking landscape advice!!

Late last fall, we decided our backyard needed to be completely remodeled, even though it wasn’t gardening season! We called Seven Dees Landscaping, (they had helped us years ago) and asked about a plan for spring. They assured us that they could start in the winter and our backyard would be beautiful by spring, so we drew up a plan with them and they started working in the middle of December.
The crew was there every day, on time, and in all kinds of weather.
Kenna and Nate were easy to work with. They suggested things we hadn’t thought of, including rock borders, and a small patio deep in the back yard just for relaxing and admiring the view. They listened to us and made small changes here and there, which made the project run smoothly and ended up even prettier than we had expected.
We are delighted with the results and highly recommend Seven Dees!

Lars Nielsen, landscape designer, is to be commended for his professionalism and being quite personable. After talking with him about our thoughts for the front yard, he created a design to meet our desires. Lars listened well to concerns and was eager to answer many of our questions. He had a great crew who completed the work in a timely manner. We appreciated Lars Nielson's follow up with us to make sure we were completely satisfied with the work.
We highly recommend Lars Nielson and thank him for all he did for us.

7DEES let part of my lawn die not being aware of a bug infestation. Then insult to injury put down the wrong grass seed. The guys that come all the time are awesome. Corporate not so good. They have yet to make a plan to make the lawn as before. Happy New Year

Not a bargain priced garden center, but they can not be beat for the quality of their plants and shrubs. And more importantly you can get the value of their landscaping design. We used Lars Nelson to totally redo our front yard. Lars is an artist and his palate is his knowledge of plants and how they should flow together to make a natural feeling tapestry. Great job Lars!

Sam and his team did an amazing job landscaping our small backyard. What started as an overgrown patch of dirt was transformed into a serene oasis in a matter of days. They were extremely courteous and thoughtful the entire time they were working at our house. 10/10 would recommend!

Wow! The work done by 7Dees was pretty extensive. It was completed quickly and perfectly. And they were willing to follow-up with a couple of changes, even after completion. I could not be more happy. I can't wait to see all the plants grow and fill in.

I have been a Customer of Dennis 7 Dees for 15 years. Lars Nielsen has been my landscape designer for 14 of them. We redesigned my flat weedy yard to a multi sitting area, water fall, lighting and irrigation system, I see him once or twice a year to fix plants or upgrade irrigation issue. The Pondless waterfall is legendary. It has the most beautiful sound.; everyone just stops and sits down and immediately relaxes. the neighbors can hear it in there year and love when I start it up in March to November.

More importantly Lars is very creative , reliable, he knows just the rights plants for me ( low maintenance gardener) he makes sure excellent work is done and cleaned up and his workers are awesome.
