I can't say enough good things about Jesse and his crew. I appreciate the simple, direct and no-nonsense quoting process he provided. He didn't try to oversell us on a larger system. They didn't rush the install, scheduling two days for a complete system replacement, including diagnosing and correcting an existing (previous) installation issue with no extra charges. When we had a couple small concerns after the install they dealt with them promptly and graciously, with no further charges. Overall they went above and beyond to ensure a good installation and customer satisfaction. The price was reasonable for quality Trane equipment.

I can't speak highly enough of Three Rivers. They are amazing people and professionals. I've been using them for years. Recently I had another company come out to do a maintenance check on my furnace and they incorrectly told me the furnace was broken and needed full replacement. I asked Jesse at Three Rivers for a quote for replacing the furnace and he did his own full diagnostic and determined the furnace was in fact not broken and did not need replacement. They were kind enough to not even charge me for the diagnostic. I'm so grateful to Jesse for coming out and saving me thousands of dollars on something that didn't even need replacing. Thank you so much!

Three Rivers Team is the only HVAC company I will use in Portland area. They are fair, honest, hard working, and straight forward. Other companies I've used were inconsistent, incomplete, and always trying to upsell the service. Thank you Three Rivers for running a company and service as all companies should.

My heat wouldn’t fully kick on, and the display led was showing an error code. Jesse was able to figure out that there was a clogged line allowing water to build up in the inducer. He explained everything he was seeing and doing. He even showed me how to fix it myself should it happen again, rather than me having to call them to come back for a simple fix. I will definitely use Three Rivers again!

They did a splendid service the first time I called to have an AC installed. However, I was a bit disappointed this time when I needed a furnace fix. My heat would not turn on, and the diagnosis was that the air outside the exhaust and intake were mixing, and that the original builders had swapped the pipes during installation. They did further testing and suggested that the heat exchanger needed to be replaced due to the CO reading in the living room.

At this point, I got the original contractor involved. He did some experimenting and eventually found that a bird had been blocking the intake, causing the furnace to shut down. Since removing the bird, I’ve had no issues with the heat shutting down. He also confirmed that the pipes were okay, but they just missed putting the side attachment (which is also how the bird got in), which he was able to install.

I let Three Rivers know of the cause, but they explained that the heat exchanger still needed to be replaced and the pipes need to be changed. I asked if they had a picture of the crack in the heat exchanger met with no reply. I did some subsequent testing and found that the CO reading was 0 both in the living room and in the supply air. I believe the reading in the living room should have been used as a clue to definitively find the issue for the diagnosis, not used as the diagnosis itself.

Quoting me for a possible issue based off a symptom that points in that direction feels a bit dishonest or inexperienced. Even if the heat exchanger was replaced, would that even fixed the root issue of the heat not turning on? It would seem to me that the root issue was the bird after all, and that the fees that I had paid were for nothing

Brad and the team at Three Rivers did a great job! From the initial call seeking a service to the service call everything was an excellent experience. Brad did a great job of explaining to me what was going on and how my furnace functions. He looked it over and addressed my concerns, all for a fair price.

Hayden and his teammate were on-time, efficient, friendly, and finished installing my furnace in half the time that was originally estimated. Professional, approachable, and made sure all my questions were answered. Janice in the office was a helpful point of contact as well, leading up to the appointment. This company has been very easy to work with and had all around great communication.

I had a stellar experience with Jesse (at Three Rivers Heating and Cooling) and wanted to share. He came out to evaluate my HVAC system and was incredibly honest, straightforward, and generous with his time. He explained everything in clear, layman’s terms and never once used alarmist language—something I had experienced with other HVAC technicians. He was upfront about what would and wouldn’t work in our space and made it clear that his priority was making sure we got full value from any system we chose.

What impressed me most was that even though he wasn’t getting paid for this visit and was only scheduled to recommend a new hvac system, he immediately jumped in to troubleshoot a significant leakage issue in our old furnace. Jesse took the time to figure out why it was happening, got wet and dirty fixing it, and made sure the furnace could continue to serve us safely before we even talked about replacement or installation. By the time he left, the unit was already sounding better. He also tested for carbon monoxide and walked me through the results calmly, without using fear to sell anything.

It’s obvious that Jesse is thoughtful and competent and operates with a tremendous amount of integrity.

I recently had Three Rivers come out to inspect and do pre-maintenance for my heating/furnace/HVAC system and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. First time homeowner and Brad took me step by step on what to do and how everything is maintained.

Such a great, locally-owned business! We had issues with the furnace and the owner came out - on a holiday - to look at it. The system was past its prime - we had to replace the unit - which was over 20 years old. Jesse and crew were phenomenal! The crew was personable, knowledgeable and they honest had our best interest at heart when doing the installation...Jesse was amazing as well - had our best interest in mind.

Service tech arrived on time. I had requested the service to change the filter, which is in the 10’ ceiling. He used my ladder, installed a filter I had purchased, replaced the ladder and the job was done. He has been here before and he always does a great job.

Update:
Recently, the heat pump needed repair. The response was timely and efficient. In addition, the filter was replaced without my asking. I’m very pleased with all services received.

Your Technician was fantastic. Quick, professional and knowledgeable.
He went over the inspection results in terms I could easily understand.
And he was able to maneuver around a temporary fence enclosing the A/C Unit outside so it did not need to be removed...this was a big deal!

Greg did a comprehensive maintenance check on HVAC in timely fashion. Answered questions , and was polite and professional.

Great communication as usual. Was for our heat pump/ air handler maintenance. Called before got here. Friendly, informative and wore clean over booties indoors. Thorough checkup as usual. No problems with the Carrier system they installed.

As hot weather hits again, we're so glad we had Specialty replace our aging HVAC system and seal our leaky ductwork last summer. Our system cools and heats more evenly and the airflow is better, plus it runs way more quietly than the old system. Having gotten multiple quotes, we chose Specialty for their competitive pricing for a quality set-up and their ability to do the install quickly. Nic was especially helpful in answering our questions and making recommendations rather than a sales pitch. The installers (Michael, Mack, and Devin) and office staff were all great too. We just had our first inspection, which was as straightforward and helpful as every other interaction we've had with Specialty. 100% recommend.

Specialty has been great to me, Nick in sales and Jake M. in service are both very knowledgable and available when I have questions or need help. I'd recommend Specialty to anyone and before they installed my system I met with multiple vendors and they were far and above the best in terms of helping with the right setup, value, and service!
