We worked with Sipes & Son on a total kitchen remodel, beam installation and assorted contracting work. Everything has been done really well and the crews are always a pleasure to work with. I would recommend for any project.

Have hired this team to help with several structural repairs in my home. They did great work and were really nice.

Stop searching and hire Sipes & Son TODAY! The very best in General Contracting.

Chad and his entire crew are masters of their trade. They are true professionals who deliver the highest quality of work, craftsmanship and integrity. We tasked Sipes & Son to complete a full Pittsburgh basement remodel. Imagine a dull, boring, unlivable basement with no walls and concrete floors. They started with just the bare essentials and created the basement of our dreams. The entire team was nothing but professional, honest and transparent. They treated our house like their home, respected our (very curious) cats and went above and beyond to create a space that we are so proud to show off.

We are already looking forward to welcoming them back to our house for future projects!

These guys just fixed some major structural issues in my house. I couldn’t be happier with their work. CJ was super helpful during the process. He clearly communicated challenges I would face during my bathroom and kitchen remodel. These guys are super fast too.

Sounds kinda weird to say this but I’m going to miss having them work on my house.

I had this company repair a major sag in my garage roof which was caused by missing structural elements.

First of all, they were the only company I found capable of taking it on- several other contractors balked at the job.

Second of all, they were impressively thorough in preparing their quote. The problem was clear but they wanted a structural engineer to sign off on the planned solution. I had to engage the engineer myself but they had a suggestion for who to use.

The job wasn't cheap but they did an awesome job- I'm thrilled with the new stability and rigidity of my garage.

Scheduling was difficult, work took over a year to begin after putting in my deposit, but the labor market is tight and they were largely responsive, usually even proactive in letting me know timelines were slipping on other jobs and when they hoped to be able to get to mine.

I would work with them again.

I contacted Sipes & Son through their website regarding the structural repair of my sill plate and rim joist on one section of my home. Chad promptly got back to me to work out a time for an estimate. Chad got out to me in a very timely manner and gave me a very competitive estimate. They offered a more comprehensive solution that covered more bases than any other contractor we had come out for estimates. Through the entire process Chad kept in touch and up to date on our project date. Once the team came out they were extremely professional and efficient. It took no longer than a handful of days to excavate, demolish, and replace the sill plate and rim joist. I couldn't be happier with the finished product. I have more jobs in the future that I will definitely be having Sipes & Son come out to evaluate.

Great guys, great work! I had a few estimates from some different contractors, but decided to go with Sipes and Son based, not just on their fair pricing, but also on their fantastic personalities. Chad was kind and attentive from day one and all of the guys who worked on my place (Eric, CJ, Charles, and Justin) were top notch! They knocked down three walls, installed new floors throughout my (now very open) living/dining/kitchen area, installed all new kitchen cabinets and island, cut holes for and installed 15 new recessed lights, did all of the trim work, did lots of mudding (just learned what that is!), and painted. All of this was done in a timely manner and, truthfully, I was expecting to have to clean up every evening when I returned home from work, but they were well organized and neat!
They did such great work, I’ve decided to have them back to do a complete renovation of one of my bathrooms!

Recently we had Sipes & Son move a wall to enlarge a bath room. They completed the work efficiently and within the timeframe estimated and paid particular attention to keeping the worksite cleaned as they worked. All demolition materials were promptly removed. The workmanship was excellent. We would definitely hire them to do future work and would recommend Chad and his crew to anyone who asks.

We just had a wonderful experience with Sipes and sons construction. They completed a very unique job that required foresight and skills in many areas of construction. They came VERY highly recommended by the engineer and now I understand why. On a side note they left the job site which is a home with 2 young children clean every day. I can't give them as high praise as I want to.

From the initial planning for the foundation repair project through completion, Sipes and Son did an excellent job. Plans were completed promptly and professionally with all aspects of work to be performed. The onsite workers carried out the plans with quality results and were responsive to providing information and answering questions about how the repairs would be made while on the job. All requirements were met and the work site was in excellent condition when the job was completed.

Five years later, we are still correcting problems from our renovation. They did correct some things themselves, but only after a long and painful process. Only after that renovation did the pipes in the affected bathroom start to freeze every winter. The project took 3 times as long as promised. By the end, we were definitely choosing our battles, so fixing things like crooked fixtures and really messy tiles just never made the list. They started out really well and were fun to work with, but I think they got out of their depth and basically tried to fake it.

Edit again 3/12/2025: Now reaching out to pay me to remove this review - attached a photo. Nowhere near the right amount to cover the massive overcharge STAY AWAY.

Edit 11/18/24: Lowering previous score... Went with Sipes again to fix my foundation down to the footer after ripping my deck out because the price was good last time. Big-time overcharged but can't complain, it's my fault for signing... Near 1000/hour for basic repointing work and a coat of tar. Get multiple quotes even when you think you have a good contractor because most, these guys included, will get one over on you if given the room.

We hired Sipes & Son to completely remodel our outdated kitchen, complete with a wall removal that used to separate the dining room from the kitchen. They completed the job without any breaks in the work, all within the time frame specified and we couldn't be happier with the completed project. All of the men on the job were extremely nice and knowledgeable and we plan to use Sipes & Son for any upcoming remodels that we may need.

Great work. Chad Sipes evaluated the project, gave me a fair, quick proposal. He stayed in touch throughout the process.
The foreman and crew arrived on time. The foreman thoroughly reviewed the project and answered all of my questions. He offered an idea to improve a part of the project at no extra cost to me. The entire team was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable.
The project was completed on time, as described, at the original cost. The work was very well done. Would definitely use again.

We just wrapped up phase one of a first floor/kitchen renovation with Sipes & Son and we couldn’t be happier with the final product. This phase included opening up the entire living/dining/kitchen space, rerouting HVAC, and putting in recessed lighting. We’re thrilled with the quality of work and the professionalism that we received from Chad and the rest of the crew. They were on time every day, and cleaned the space super well every day before leaving. We feel like we're living in a different house (in the best way) and are so excited to start phase two of the project. We'd recommend Sipes & Son to anyone and are looking forward to using them for many future projects.

We hired Sipes and Son for major structural repairs on an addition in our old house. We can't say enough good about Chad and his crew - knowledgeable, hard working, attentive to every detail, punctual and extremely conscious of keeping dust and disruption to a minimum. Best contractors we ever worked with. Even though the scope of the project had a multitude of different fixes from roofing to a support beam - it stayed on time and within budget.

I recently moved into an old house that had some structural issues due to work done by the previous owner. They had hired a Joe Shmoe contractor to do a remodel, which looked nice but caused the problems that we discovered during our inspection. The old owner wanted to hire another contractor cut from the same cloth as the first one to fix the issues, but we worked it out so we were able to get Chad and his guys to take care of it all for us.

Chad was friendly and easy to work with, he came out right away to take a look at the issues, and gave us a few design options for each of the items that needed to be fixed. Was also very patient and accommodating with me when I wanted to make some revisions and adds/deducts to the scope of work.

As for the actual work, they did a good job taking care of everything in what I thought was a very timely manner. They also did a good job of managing the dust and debris of a construction site, which was especially nice since it was mostly in my kitchen and dining room. Of course with an old house you can never be sure what you're going to run into when you start to peek into the ceiling and walls, so we did run into a few hurdles, but Chad was very professional and honest during the whole process, even with coming up with solutions. An engineer was called in to make sure everything was up to snuff, and our house was whole again.

Honestly their guys did such a great job with the finish work after all of the structural items were taken care of that you can't even tell there was work done. I'm extremely pleased with the quality of the work that they did at my house. That's not to mention their value - the second contractor the old owner was going to use wanted to charge more for a much less aesthetically pleasing solution, and from the examples I could see, his quality of work wasn't comparable to what Chad and his guys did. With all that being said, I wouldn't hesitate to give Sipes & Son my business again.

My husband and I recently learned from a mason we hired to replace a bad lintel that it had been installed wrong originally and that several others needed to be replaced too. Worried that the rest of our lintels might have the same flaw, we reached out to Sipes and Son for an evaluation and quote. Chad responded timely and came out to our house for a quote. He let us know that we actually don't need to replace any additional lintels and that they appear to be in good condition. He is honest, knowledgeable and professional, and I hope we get to work with his company again on future projects.

Chad, CJ and the team were fantastic. Their work was done incredibly well and in a timely manner. They took time to listen to questions and went above and beyond. MJK

I just completed a six-figure structural restoration project on my 150+ year old row house in Pittsburgh's Mexican War Streets neighborhood with Chad and his team at Sipes & Son. I am incredibly pleased with the result and would happily recommend this company. Our project was very technically challenging, and Chad's confidence and assurance throughout the process was critical. For context, our project entailed excavation and removal of a 20' portion of stone foundation wall, construction of new footer/foundation in its place, installation of a French door and new header, significant brick reconstruction/masonry work on three stories of our home, and extensive joist stabilization in our basement.

I just used Sipes and Sons this past week for my residential Brick Repointing (tuckpointing) project. I couldn't have been more pleased with the work they performed. Chad and his team were great with communication throughout the whole process, his team was attentive to all my questions and/or requests I had along the way, and they kept me updated on the project status as they battled the elements (rain, wind, etc.). Importantly, I felt the pricing was very reasonable, honestly great, for the amount of tuckpointing work that they performed at my residence. If you have any residential brick tuckpointing needs within the city of pittsburgh, I'd certainly recommend to have them at least check out your project needs.
