Constraction reviews in Knoxville, Tennessee

I'm an out of state investor, and was referred to Drew through my realtor. The property I purchased needed some substantial overhaul, including flooring, roof work, piping, and paint. Working with Drew and Matt was a real pleasure. After receiving my inspection report, their quote was professional and detailed, addressing all items that were mentioned, and clearly itemizing the cost for each. Drew even made a couple of easy fixes while visiting the property for quoting it at no cost. I reached out to several contractors, and SCC's quote was the most professional and competitive. I appreciated their advice on several items, specifying what was important to fix, and what should be considered optional, esp. given that the property was a rental. SCC worked on my property for a couple of weeks, and throughout this time Drew made sure to keep me updated on each step of the project (via emails, calls, photos), and respect the timeline we agreed on. I appreciated a lot their flexibility, fairness, and good judgement in addressing unforeseen issues, including accommodating several change requests that I made. When modifications or additional work were required, they were very fair in pricing, and did some of the upgrades at no additional cost. I had the pleasure to meet Drew and Matt personally only after they've completed the work, and was super impressed with the results. It was great to find contractors that were so professional and trustworthy, completing a major renovation work remotely and with great results. Highly recommended.

Just sold my house that Scruffy City renovated for me about two years ago. I was super happy with the work and they did a beautiful job! As well as being very professional and transparent throughout the process which I appreciated because it was my first time renovating a house so I had a TON of questions. Anyhow, I had a few inspectors come through (two separate buyers walked away from the deal for personal reasons) and they both returned the cleanest inspection reports my realtor had ever seen. The only real issue they could come up with is with my deck, which the previous owner had not built to code and I chose not to fix because it was such a minor issue. I’ll also add that each time the house was listed we had multiple offers and tons of compliments and positive feedback. When we were doing the renovation I had some idea what I wanted, but Drew really helped turn my ideas into something so amazing! I loVed the end result so much, and it’s my favorite house I’ve ever lived - the only reason I’m leaving is that I got a new job out of state. So grateful I hired Drew and Matt and I can’t recommend them enough!

New to the neighborhood and new homeowners. Working with Scruffy City was a breath of fresh air. When we needed something done earlier than expected they were responsive and went above and beyond to help. They were able to accomplish everything we needed without hesitation. Always courteous and willing to chat or give advice. It was such a pleasure to work with them! I highly recommend them for any job you may need done. I certainly can’t wait to hire them again for our next project! They have truly made a life customer out of us. Big thanks to Charlie for all his hard work!!

We had an emergency as our outdoor outlets quit working and my husband was having no luck troubleshooting it. The pump for our septic was on that line also do we couldn't wait 2 weeks with the breakers turned off. The electrician was out within 2 hours, was very friendly and professional and it was up and working in no time!! Definitely would use them again!!

Had them do an EV charger and sub panel installation. They did it quickly and professionally. Problem, despite my mentioning inspections, they didn't pull the permit to do the work. I received a code violation letter, threatening a summons from the city. The company isn't responding to the problem at all.
I have to pull the permit myself and assume responsibility for the install.
(Edit)
They did ultimately pull the permit and the city inspector was complementary about the quality of their work. They reached out to apologize and in light of that and the quality of their work, I'm bumping up my rating. -
We are in the process of renovation our basement. Scruffy City did all the electrical work and did a great job. Very knowledgeable, friendly crew, that accommodated to our needs and worked flexible with our schedule. Price was the best after comparing multiple companies. Great result overall. We are very happy and can def. recommend.

These guys are great!
I recently purchased a house they did work on. They have been very helpful. The work they do is very clean and modern. I love my butcher top counters and the subway tile in my shower.
Drew stopped by to follow up on how I was liking the place and asked if I needed help with any issues.
Big thanks to Drew and Charlie for stopping by! -
Scruffy City was amazing and so easy to work with! They were prompt, accommodating, and did amazing work! I will be using them for all my future projects.

- Kitchen electrical: as they were getting into their van to leave, I started my washing machine and it did not come on. I waved them down and they came back in to correct. I don’t know why the washing machine was an issue because it is in the garage not the kitchen. They had the power off. when the power came back on, should the washing machine not have worked?
According to the invoice, 4 GFCI plugs were installed. I now only see 2.
At some point the dryer had been pulled out. It sits on a platform. They did not put it back and I had to point it out and have them correct that. Minor aggravation.
-Grounding of plugs: I was told that the main floor plugs were not grounded properly and would need to be in order to pass any inspection. I okay’d the work to be done.
After they had left, I discovered the outlets on 3 walls in 1 bedroom were not working and 1 wall in the other bedroom did not work. Since mike was on vacation, I used extension chords. 3 or 4 days later the outlets started working.
What was that all about?
When the technicians returned, One looked at the light switch which is connected to one of the outlets. He had chipped away enough of the plaster to leave gaps on either side of the switch. This switch was working before; why was this done? In addition, he told me the lamp plugged into that outlet was defective. At this time, the technician told me the entire floor would need to be re-wired. He did not show me the chipped out switch. I discovered this later.
The lamp was not defective! It worked fine.
Finally, I was up in the attic recently and discovered one of the light fixture was broken; not the bulb, the entire fixture. No one has been in the attic since the technicians were up there. Again, he did not tell me, I discovered it on my own.
I would not recommend them!! -
Responsive! I recently had some electrical work done on my house, and I couldn't be happier with the service. The electrician was incredibly responsive, knowledgeable, and friendly throughout the entire process. They did an excellent job installing a new weatherhead on my house and were very accommodating with my request to use the electric box I already had. Their professionalism and attention to detail were impressive, and I highly recommend their services to anyone in need of electrical work.

For the last three years we have been building a home in Tennessee. I have used MBI for all my surveying needs. I dealt exclusively with Wade Lovin who has always been quick and responsive in dealing with all my surveying needs. Even when we ran into property rights issues, he responded in a timely manner. I would highly recommend Mr Lovin and the MBI company for all your engineering needs.

We hired Gooddeal Construction Services to remodel our kitchen and remove walls to create one large open space — and we are beyond happy with the results.
Taking down the walls completely transformed our home. What used to feel closed off is now bright, open, and so much more functional. The flow is amazing, and the space feels bigger than we ever imagined.
The quality of the work really stands out. The cabinets are beautifully installed, the countertops are stunning, and every detail was handled with care. You can tell they take pride in their craftsmanship.
The team was professional, communicative, and respectful throughout the entire project. They showed up when they said they would and kept everything organized and clean.
If you’re considering a kitchen remodel — especially opening up your space — we highly recommend Gooddeal Construction Services. We absolutely love our new kitchen! -
