Keith Harvey the Houk technician that came out due to heating unit not working did an amazing job, very knowledgeable and knew in an instant what the problem was. Mr. Harvey displayed a high level of professionalism and integrity. Epic Mahalo to Keith Harvey from Houk!

We had a fantastic experience with getting same day service. The issue was explained to us in “layman” terms. The part was ordered and hopefully we will be to having heat within a few days! Our technician was great!

Houk Air Conditioning came out to repair some damages made by another company. They were very thorough in their process while explaining everything from start to finish. They even conducted an air balance which corrected the hot rooms in our home. The technicians were very respectful in covering their shoes, asking for permission to access certain areas, and educating us on things to improve our air quality. The technicians always called before arriving at their designated time. Thank you Houk for making this such a pleasant experience! 🙏

Jesse was very attentive and knowledgeable. He explained things to me very well and was very patient. I really appreciated him. A true asset to your company.
The items were covered under warranty by builder.

Houk has been great to work with in our first couple of years in our new home. Both with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, they are quick to respond and thorough. Their phone techs and field techs are pleasant and professional. Highly recommend.

I work for a builder and HOUK does great work for us. When we built our home in Regency at SRR in Liberty Hill, I was glad HOUK was the team who installed my HVAC. I have signed up for the service program because I feel confident that the service after the installation will be equally competent for years to come. Happy New Year everyone.

Brandon did a thorough analyses of the airflow in my new home for not having even heating. Even though they subcontracted the HVAC, during the build they have not properly installed flab to lower flow to rooms near the heater in the attic. Brandon installed flab to these outlet and make the air flow slow to these rooms. He took his time. One thing to mention is that he likes to talk, nonstop 😀

Jeremiah came out last week and properly diagnosed our issue and was so professional! Our builder worked with Houk to get our part quickly and within less than a week, Jeremiah and Joseph were back to replace the broken part and install a couple other items we asked for. They were both on time and cleaned up after they finished. I hope they both stay our techs in the future! Houk kept us in the loop with our repair timeline and were very reasonable compared to the two other quotes we received. We won’t hesitate to use them in the future and will recommend them as well to our family and neighbors!

Jonathan and Joseph did an amazing job! We called about an issue with our heating and they came out and fixed it. They were detailed with what was repaired and why. They took their time to make sure everything was properly working and the units were heating properly in all areas of the home. Highly recommend them and excellent customer service

Chance was the tech who showed up and took care of some items with our air conditioner and also offered me a maintenance program that I gladly purchased. We always stay proactive on maintenance and twice a year he will come out and check to be sure the system is functioning properly. Professional and prompt service. Chance has been the tech that has been to our home before and it’s good to have some history with the same person.

Houk’s work wasn’t just bad. It was dangerous. Their improper dryer vent installation created a fire hazard in a brand-new home. I had to hire a competent contractor to fix their mistake before something catastrophic happened.

I normally don’t write reviews like this, but after fully inspecting the HVAC system this company installed in my home, I feel obligated to share what I found.

After reviewing the installation carefully, I discovered multiple serious design and workmanship issues. These are not cosmetic concerns — they directly impact airflow, efficiency, longevity, and potentially indoor air quality.

    Major Concerns:

    • Extremely long flex duct runs (some exceeding 100+ feet) with no properly designed sheet metal trunkline. According to ACCA Manual D and Flex Duct Council standards, flex duct is intended for short branch runs. Excessive lengths dramatically increase static pressure, reduce airflow, waste energy, and strain the blower.

    • Four supply takeoffs cut directly into the top of the plenum instead of feeding a properly sized trunkline. This creates turbulence, uneven airflow distribution, increased static pressure, and multiple leakage points. This is not best practice duct design.

    • Flex duct installed improperly and not in compliance with Flex Duct Council guidelines:
    – Flex not pulled tight
    – Severe compression and kinking
    – Tight-radius bends
    – Sagging and ducts stacked on each other
    – Crushed sections reducing internal diameter

Compressed flex can reduce airflow by 30–50%, which affects comfort and system lifespan.

    • No steel inner couplers used in flex extensions, increasing the likelihood of air leakage and separation over time.

    • Improper plenum sealing with visible air leakage staining and damaged insulation/vapor barriers. In a hot Texas attic, this can lead to condensation and potential microbial growth.

    • Mastic applied over evaporator coil access, blocking proper serviceability and making routine maintenance more difficult and costly.

    • Two duct runs were not connected to ceiling vents and were drywalled over, allowing conditioned air to leak into unconditioned cavities. This resulted in wasted energy and reduced airflow to living spaces.

    • Noticeable air leakage into the attic, which increases runtime, utility costs, and compressor strain.

    • Questionable air handler support in the attic.

To make matters worse, after reaching out to the company regarding these concerns, there was zero follow-up from the owner or installers. No inspection. No remediation plan. No response.

A quality HVAC system is only as good as its duct design and installation. Based on what I found — excessive flex runs, lack of trunkline, improper takeoffs, non-compliant flex installation, air leakage, blocked service access, and unfinished duct terminations — this installation does not reflect professional HVAC standards or industry best practices.

Homeowners deserve systems designed according to ACCA and Flex Duct Council guidelines — not shortcuts that compromise performance and efficiency.

I strongly recommend thoroughly inspecting duct design and installation details before accepting work from Houk AC.

After 18 years the old unit finally gave up. Shopped around and chose PROGuys AC Repair & Heating because they actually answered the phone on Sunday. The hvac installers showed up on time, removed the ancient system, installed the new 4-ton unit and everything works perfectly. House is quieter and the electric bill already dropped. Super clean installation, no mess left behind. Worth every penny

Heater stopped working on the coldest night this winter. Googled air conditioning repair near me (turns out these guys do heating too) and they came out within two hours. The technician explained the bad igniter, replaced it fast and even checked the whole furnace. Warm house again and the bill was way lower than I expected from other hvac contractors I called before. Will use PROGuys AC Repair & Heating forever now

My AC died during the hottest week of July and I was losing my mind with two kids at home. Called PROGuys AC Repair & Heating at 8pm and they had a technician here by 10pm the same night. He found the problem in 10 minutes (bad capacitor) and had the air conditioning repair done before midnight. Cold air again and I could finally sleep. Price was fair, guy was polite, cleaned everything up. Best emergency service ever, highly recommend these hvac contractors for anyone sweating it out.
