Shawn and his Team responded quickly and were out in about an hour. Made the entire situation (deceased brother) bearable.....UNTIL IT WAS TIME TO PAY. BILLING WAS A MAJOR ISSUE.

I asked Shawn twice for the amount due immediately after the work was completed since I wanted to pay him before he left the house. He assured me (in front of my family) on more than one occasion that the homeowner’s policy covers the cost of his services.

The insurance company wanted to see proof of death prior to speaking with me about Shawn’s invoice. Took a little more than 90 days to get the death certificate to submit to the insurance company (we were told the delay in issuing the death certificate was due to COVID).

After 60 days, Shawn called me. We had an “intense” conversation where he threatened to submit the invoice to collections if I did not pay. He only relented when I told him I have proof that he said he would be paid by the insurance and not to worry.

My brother’s insurance provider stated that YES, they do cover these types of charges AFTER THE DEDUCTIBLE. In my brother’s case, the deductible was 1%. Due the amount of the invoice (less than the 1% deductible), they would not pay. So, I was stuck with the bill and had to pay, which I did PAY IN FULL after speaking with my family.

LESSONS LEARNED:

- NO MATTER WHO YOU USE TO REMEDIATE, if the company can’t/won’t provide a written estimate and/or write down the amount due, kick them off the premises, no matter how nice they are.

- NO MATTER WHO YOU USE TO REMEDIATE, if a company representative repeatedly insists that the insurance carrier will cover the expenses, STILL INSIST ON A WRITTEN ESTIMATE PRIOR TO SERVICES RENDERED

- NO MATTER WHO YOU USE TO REMEDIATE, obtain written proof from the company that the any and all charges will be paid by the insurance company.

- NO MATTER WHO YOU USE TO REMEDIATE, ask and get a response in writing (even a text message) answering the following question: "If the insurance doesn’t pay, who is responsible for paying the invoice?"

- Finally, to the person signing off on the services, GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING, record the conversation, keep proof of what was said because in the end, you will be responsible for full payment.

I recently experienced the death of a sibling that, unfortunately, involved the clean up of bodily fluids. My immediate concern was having the areas clean so that my mother would not have to see anything graphic. I do not live in the Austin area had just driven in to take care of “things.” I had no idea what I needed other than “clean.” I had no idea who to call, what to ask, or what to expect. I was given a list of companies to call, and Bio Clean was the first to answer me with a human voice. This was the voice of Sean, the owner. Through tears and ignorance, I explained what I needed. The level of empathy and humanity in my my very desperate time was phenomenal and rare. The first thing he asked was about renter’s insurance and even called the insurance company to see if they would cover any of the cost, immediately taking one thing off of my ever-growing “to do” list. He called me back in less than 30 minutes with information and options. I asked him how soon he could begin because my mother was understandably anxious to get into the apartment soon. Within a span of less than three hours Sean was meeting me at the apartment and educating me on everything that needed to be done as well as the reasons why for both environmental and legal reasons - none of which I had any idea or understanding of. Sean started right away, and within FOUR SHORT HOURS, he called me to say that he had gotten the apartment presentable for my mother. When I showed up, I was stunned and moved to tears. Not only was any and all “evidence” GONE, it actually smelled GOOD. The odor wasn’t just gone, it smelled good. Sean is the owner of this business and the pride in his work and reputation were obvious and remarkable. I trusted this stranger with not only this most personal and sensitive matter but with access to my brother’s home and our credit card information. And our trust was honored and rewarded. But my story isn’t even over. Sean and two members of his staff, Ena and Andrea, came back the next day to help us pack and move everything out of the apartment. They were kind, helpful, and efficient. They even took food and clothing items and found places to donate them AND disposed of everything that needed to be disposed of. Thank you Sean, Ena, and Andrea for your efficiency, help, empathy, and human kindness. You helped make a terribly tragic situation so much easier for us. You are proof that there are still kind, professional people out there. You were truly a gift from God to us. I literally sat in my car, cried, and thanked God for sending Sean to me. I needed goodness and love, and Sean was that for us. Also, my husband and I now refer to Sean as The Wolf. If you’ve seen Pulp Fiction, you know why. Y’all, Sean is The Wolf. Thank you. Thank you. Austin Bio Clean responded promptly and efficiently to a recent neighborhood tragedy. The technician bent over backward to make sure the cleanup was perfect. He was sympathetic, caring, intelligent, and kind as was the owner of the company. I would recommend them highly and without reservation to anyone in need of this type of service.

The team at Austin Bio Clean is professional, organized, fast and sensitive to the situation that brought them there in the first place. I live some hours away from the family member’s house they were cleaning and they communicated with me every step of the way. There were animals in the house and there was no problem working around them. They are absolute angels for helping people with extreme situations in the home. I had a horrible living situation in my home. I became deeply ashamed of it and warded off visitors as a result. My fiancé reached out to Shawn and got a response fairly quick. We made a grissly discovery of an unattended death after 5 months in a home in Austin. There is so much that goes into an unattended death after so long, and I had no idea where to start.

I did my research online to find a company that could clean the home to get it ready to sell, but also to get rid of the odor that had permeated everything in the house.

After making several calls, I called Austin Bio Clean and spoke directly with the Owner, Shawn. He was very kind and understanding and very professional, and he answered all my questions. He told me what I could expect from the insurance company and what services he would provide. I met him on Thursday for the estimate and he started to work the following Monday.

I just completed the final walk through and what he has done with the house is amazing! Almost ready for sale! A few things have to be repaired and some painting needs to be done, but amazing nonetheless. He has done everything he said he would do and more! He also returns calls promptly on the chance that you get his voicemail.

Austin Bio Clean provides a fast, efficient & professional service! We were blown away by the care Shawn and his crew showed to us in such a desperate time of need. He was communicative and explained everything with comfort and grace. They truly are the people to go to! We felt so burdened and overwhelmed with needing to get a home cleaned that fell victim to hoarding. It was such a smooth and easy process for us from start to finish. We were out most of the day and came back midnight to find 1.5” of water all around our 1st floor. It was really shocking to see the entire house flooded with water. A connector on the water supply line in our powder bath broke causing the water damage. We did not know what to do and started searching on Google. Found Total Restoration of Texas and they had great reviews. Called the number, Kylie picked up the phone and sent Ryan within 30 minutes to our house. Ryan spent next 4 hours removing hundreds of gallons of water using a pump in the van, long tubes and vacuum.

Ryan left around 5 am and came back again around 11 am with a crew. They covered everything with plastic sheets, cut the dry walls open for 1 foot above the floor, cleaned all the debris, added fans & humidifiers to remove all the moisture. Fans ran for next 3 days and it was very hard to see the entire house being cut open with a lot of dust everywhere. But Ryan made it easy for us. He was on time, friendly and explained everything along the way. Since we were impressed with Total Restoration of Texas for water removal and Jason (owner) has a lot of experience dealing with insurance companies, we ended up giving the full restoration work to Total Restoration of Texas. This was one of the best decisions we made. Jason is straight forwarded, upfront and keep his words. We started the construction 10 days before COVID-19 started, but Total Restoration of Texas was able to finish all the work in 2 months as originally planned. Construction during COVID was not easy, but Jason handled it really well and made sure there were no delays.

Jason brought awesome crews for drywall repair, kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, painting and flooring. All of them were very professional and quality of the work was exemplary. Even though this was not planned and going through water damage is a hassle, we got a beautiful and modern house at the end. Kudos to Jason, Kylie and Ryan. I would highly recommend Total Restoration of Texas for any water removal and post construction work to get your house back in shape!

Total Restoration of Texas came to the rescue when four rooms of our home, a hallway, and coat nook were flooded this week. Ryan arrived about 30 minutes after I had called to schedule an inspection. He was kind, polite, professional, and got right to work assessing the damage and pulling out wet carpet padding. He set up drying fans and promised his crew would be at our house the next day to finish the clean-up. They arrived as promised, preceded by a text message to let us know they were on their way. Ryan told us that he would stop by our house over the next few days to check the status of the moisture in the walls. I appreciate the communication and the promptness. Ryan has also been very patient in answering all of our questions, and he's left us feeling reassured that our home will soon be back to normal. I can't thank Total Restoration and Ryan enough!
