Bottom line is that Greenstar Power will do their level best to take care of their customers. Going to share two separate events that backup this claim. First, I had a 30 panel 13.2KW solar system installed by Greenstar Power in Feb 2024. Several weeks ago three panels stopped working. I called Nathan at Greenstar’s operations desk and he made things happen. In a matter of days a Greenstar team came to my home and replaced the failed parts. Second, I just had the first certified Generac routine maintenance done on my Generac 24KW...the tech specialist informed me that the propane connection was missing a flexible propane line connection (to absorb the generator vibrations) as well as a secondary regulator between the main propane regulator and the generator. I called Greenstar to see if they could assist me in getting the issues corrected. Nathan, at the Operations Desk answered the phone, listened to my concerns about the risk of a propane leak, and assured me that he would have his lead plumber call me the same day to coordinate getting this taken care of ASAP. Long story short, Carolina's Plumbing called me within an hour, came to my home the next morning (this morning) and took care of everything in an hour. If you value follow-up service without having to fight to make it happen, I highly recommend Greenstar Power. Be it solar power or other electrical system requirements, Greenstar is a great resource that will do their level best to take care of what needs to be done. No doubts.

South Texas Solar Systems installed solar panels on my home two years ago. Working with them has been a pleasure, particularly with James and Lawton. My solar panels survived a hail storm that totaled my car, so they are very durable. I only have an electric bill in July and August, and even then it is less than $50. I would highly recommend this company!

This company never answers the phone there's not even a way to leave a message because messages box it's always full. They take long to come and service my panels and when they come they always says they are producing the right amount of kilowatts my home light bill it's always between 120 and 289 dollars every month and then a separate bill of 228 solar panel payments. Please don't do business with this company not even responsible to answer the phone.

We have had the panels for roughly 4 years, and in my opinion they do not look at the condition of the roof before installing, the sale is trying to be made. We asked the last technician who came to fix our inverter, which is actually the 2nd time it has been busted how we go about removing panels to replace panels. He said to give the company a call back and they schedule a time to go out, and he told us they usually remove the panels once per life of the panels to get roof replaced at no cost. When we call to get panels removed to start roof replacement, they sent information over to Arnold who said he will send paperwork via email (have not received), and the pricing. When I asked "pricing" he said there is a fee for removal and putting them back on. I asked what is usually the pricing, and he said it can be anywhere from $7k more or less, but could not give exact quote. He said I could call my insurance agent to get solar panels included with estimate. At this time I was dumbfounded, and felt lied to by the technician. I told Arnold what the last technician told us, and he said he would have to look at our contract and call us back. I did not hear back from Arnold that week, or the next, so I called and they stated Arnold was in a meeting, and would give my information to him. I, have yet to hear again from Arnold, and this is with me calling back a 3rd time 2 weeks ago. I feel like customers get solar panels to get break on electricity bills, but they don't tell you about the solar panel bill you will have, the conns of when its time to get roof replaced. I would love to be one of those customers who only see $50 dollars a month for electricity, but we don't we see during summer $300 still, plus $300/mo on the solar panel bills. I suggest really do research on if solar panels are worth it.

Good company but check your system daily. During the last cold spell our system went down. We were paying full price for our heating. When I called South Texas Solar they informed me my system had been down 18 days. South Texas Solar can tell if your system is down but it takes 30 days before you are notified. I’m still waiting for some compensation for my high CPS bill in February. ☹️

That is the main problem!! They called your salesman Polo and informed him they were going to remove the remaining roots left by your company during installation. Polo send them a text with the map of where the cable passes though. If Polo, your employee, who had said they needed to called Digrite Texas instead of giving them the map all this had been prevented. Or if your installation group, also your employees, would had removed the roots at the same time they removed the trees in the first place all of this would also been prevented.

Horrible service, my father had a solar panel installed on his property. He had to removed tree roots and requested a plan for the wires. After he started to dig, he hit the wire. The wire was not 2 ft deep but a couple of inches and was not based on the company's plans but more than 6 ft difference. Now the company is making my father responsible for covering the cost of the damage, when in fact it was the company who send him the wire plans that weren't followed by them. The fee to cover is around $1,800 after the thousands he has already paid. After we call the office, we get no answer; the owner refuses to talk to my father or take responsibility for their mistake.

The install was excellent, although it took 7 months from start to finish to get it built and turned on so you'll need to be patient while all the permissions are worked through. The reason I give this 4 stars instead of 5 is that the customer service wasn't as good as I had hoped it would be, but in the end they got it all done and I'm very happy with what I have. I would recommend STSS, especially if you know you have a big tax bill coming because you can get a nice credit, which helps.

This company started with good quick responses before the sale. Then continued to be somewhat responsive with the cleaning of the panels. They will not even answer their phones unless you call asking for a quote. I’m nearing the end of my warranty and have been waiting to have the panels cleaned for over four months

Don't choose this company!! We were told that the system installed would cover more than what we used. We were averaging $150 a month with the electric company. Now we are paying nearly DOUBLE for energy because the solar power is not covering what we use. We are paying the electric company and South Texas Solar Systems now and will soon be paying for the 11k that we thought we would get from our tax refund. The solar panels are $180 a month covering 27k of costs, while the loan of 11k(the amount of tax credit) is DUE IN FULL by Aug 2019. We are NOT SATISFIED AT ALL! What a mess. Don't buy into what they're selling too quickly. Talk to their solar tech for accurate info.
The sales representative isn't accurate and doesn't have the knowledge that the solar Tech does and the sales pitch doesn't match the reality of it. We were told that we'd get $11,934 from tax refund to pay the no money up front loan they suggested. They calculated the 30%solar credit, told us to get a loan on that 11k amount because we would get that in our refund to pay it right back once we filed our taxes...all in time before the 11k loan payment was due in Aug 2019. What a mess. The sales team is just looking to get you to buy and will tell you anything to get you, true or not.

We bought our solar panels through southtexas solar system. We couldn't be any happier or satisfied. Extremely helpful and incredible with the customer service and support. Best thing we did to our home and almost ten years later the company still provides outstanding customer service and support. We love these guys and highly recommend them. Thank you

Overall experience with South Texas Solar Systems has been great. They drove over two hours to my place of residence to meet up with us go over everything with me. Any questions or concerns I had were answered right away. I felt really comfortable with the way things were handled. I highly recommend this company if you plan on installing solar panels.

Ok, this is the edit. Had our panels taken down for a roof replacement, paid STSS half to be on the uninstall schedule, then paid the rest to be reinstalled. I've got a bit more than half my panels back up and now no call backs, voicemails are always full, and not one reply to text messages to all 3 of the contacts i have.
WTH?! Not sure what changed but probably best not to use this company until changes are made. Very disappointed. I'll leave my original post as they were a fine company some time back, but now, no clue whats going on with them.

Original Post "STSS has been taking care of us for years now. From the initial discussion about the panels, to maintenance, to quoting for full house battery backups. Great people to deal with concerning such a complex subject. Call them for any questions and you will get an answer."

South Texas Solar provided exceptional service from start to finish. I am very pleased with my installation and subsequent services. My electric bills 3 months post install have declined from summer month average of $250 to $300 to only $25 per month! Their services have been great! Some electric service fees and connection to the grid remain the same but that is to be expected. The system is producing electricity as planned. I hope it helps our climate issues and reduces my electric bill as well. Very pleased!

Noah Masters did an excellent job convincing this skeptic on the benefits of solar. After calling a few of his customers, I was convinced the solar panels would work for me. I get three benefits, (1) They Soar Panels Pay For Themselves, (2) It Has Added Value To My Home, and (3) My Electric Bill Has Gone Down Considerably. Last month the Electric Company owed me 87 cents. It is fun watching my meter run backwards. Noah was very patient with my questions. He never pushed me to buy. So far, my solar system has been what I expected. Thank You South Texas Solar Systems.

Stay far, far away from this company. Their sales people are fine and their pricing was fair, but good God, their follow up service after the sale is atrocious; they NEVER answer the phone, and nobody ever knows what's going on. I purchased my system in 2018 and it worked fine for a while, but then the inverter failed after about a year. They fixed it, but with an inferior inverter than what I bought. Whatever, I let it go. Now, I developed a hole in my roof because of these roof plumbing redirector things they sold me (they redirect the gasses coming out of the pipes on your roof so that you can get more flat space for the panels; I objected but finally gave in). A squirrel made a nice little nest under my panels because of these pipes and then the squirrel burrowed through my roof under the solar panels. I had to get a hold of STSS, but nobody EVER answers the dang phone. I finally got a hold of some poor sales guy who really went above and beyond doing things the service folks SHOULD have been doing. Anyhow, that got rectified, got my panels taken off, hole fixed (without any acknowledgement from STSS that the hole was caused by these pipe things, but whatever). Got the panels reinstalled, but now they don't work. I'm so tired of getting the run around from this company. I may seek legal action.

Update 18 Sept 22: they're still not great about answering the phone, but I have connected with a very helpful lady named Tina. Her intentions are good and after analyzing all the data from my system, she finally determined that I truly was not producing as much power as I should be (which is exactly what I've been saying for months), so she set a repair in motion. I'm finally back where I should be, albeit 6 months after the fact. No idea who came out to inspect my system back in June when I first notified them that I wasn't producing, but they need to be retrained because they obviously don't know how to diagnose issues. I guess the moral of the story is to never, ever disturb your system unless you absolutely have to, and keep your trees trimmed way away from the house so as to not allow an access point for critters. Oh, and keep calling if you don't get through; they'll eventually get to you. Persistence and tenacity!

Through no fault of South Texas Solar Systems it has been 2 years since I ordered my Powerwall+. The aftermath of COVID and all the logistical nightmares that resulted which caused a backlog of Powerwalls by Tesla. I finally received my Powerwall+ about 2 months ago and after finally getting all the permits and inspections it is up and running. It was a long wait but definitely worth it. The Powerwall+ is amazing. I can basically go off grid each night resulting in a significant cost savings! There are too many folks at SouthTexas Solar that I worked with to mention but they have all been very professional and worked extremely hard to finally complete the installation of my Powerwall+ and system. I appreciate the entire team at South Texas Solar Systems. I am extremely satified with the final product!

Just completed a multi-month solar and electric project with South Texas Solar and while there are one, maybe two, individuals who have been pleasant to work with, the entire experience was extremely frustrating and at times, scary. This is a company that installed the original solar system and batteries in an off-grid configuration and we're now integrating the system with the grid.

I'm not the kind that writes reviews only for negative experiences - the electric company that does the work for South Texas Solar, Engel Electric, did a stellar job and I've written a glowing review for them.

I explicitly used the term 'scary' above because there was a point in the process where I thought they had just taken the money I paid them up-front and ran due to the lack of communication. Attempts were made to contact them via email with little/no response followed by phone calls where I insisted to speak to the owner - no contact from owner. There's someone there who refers to themselves as a "project manager" but has little knowledge of the project and again, no communication.

Wish I could recommend this company but I cannot - based on my experience. If the management team or owner wishes to reach-out and have a productive conversation about this review I'm more than happy to do so. I believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt and in this case I shared this feedback real-time on multiple occasions throughout the multi-month engagement and each time they were unresponsive.

I cannot give this company even one star. I marked the one only to show some kind of rating. We paid South Texas Solar Systems $21,000 in February of 2024 and still do not have our installation.
The owner said he would get back to us and never has. There have been numerous attempts to reach a person without any success. Phone messages are ignored.

Great company. Quick quote, showed up on time, did the installation work quickly and well, scheduled all permits & inspections, commissioned the system. I got five quotes for this work and they were by far the best for price and service. I visited their facility here in San Antonio, met most of their employees and was so impressed I signed the contract that day!

They estimated the required system size well. For the first month of service we produced 3KWh more solar energy than we consumed. We are net-zero and hoping to be that way most months.

At my request, they installed a Solar Edge inverter with and integrated electric vehicle charger. This allows me to charge my EV directly from solar power (or from the grid if cloudy or night). This was the first in San Antonio and a learning experience for all concerned!

I have recommended them to all my friends considering solar. Thanks!

The installation process was fairly smooth. There were a few times that I had to call to get status updates on the next steps. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I still have not received my refund. It's been 5 months since my panels were installed. I have emailed several times & still have no update as to when I will receive it.
