Get dirty here and your plants and wallet will thank you.
My parents bought stuff here when I was a kid bc they were the best deal in town. They Still Are! Great service, great prices, and the product is top notch.

Bought 2.5 cu. yards of Lawn Top Dressing. The cashier was nice, took care of checking my purchase. There was an elderly lady on the phone. I had asked the cashier, “do you think it may rain today?” The elderly lady butts in and says”we’re not weather forecasters!” BTW, I wasn’t talking to her or asking her anything. How rude! I should have snapped and said something, but I didn’t. I will have take my business elsewhere. I’ve never had a problem with any other employee.

For THE best soils and mulches in San Antonio, Garden-ville on Evans is the place to go. Located on the far NorthEast side of San Antonio off Evans road, Garden-ville offers both bagged and yards worth of soils, mulch, sand, gravel, pebbles and stones. I am a fan of their bagged "Superior Soil" which over the course of the years I have purchased for raised gardens, new plantings and potted plants. That particular soil provides all the nutrients and growing power in your garden and by far exceeds the stuff they sell at the big box stores. Likewise, check out their specialty bags of add mixtures, boosters and insect control for your yard of project. I am always greeted with a smile and love to chat with the lady Manager whose name skips my memory at the moment, but the staff is always attentive and helpful. So, take the trip out there and when you enter drive slow and make a left at the fork in the road.

We recently relocated to this side of town so we're used to the other location on Bandera Road.

Just like Bandera Road, the selection of plants and garden supplies was great and varied. The prices were more than fair and the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly.

The Thousand Oaks location feels smaller than the Bandera location, but they pack a lot of inventory into the space.

I highly recommend Rainbow Gardens to the beginning and experienced gardener!

Long time customer >10years, used to live off Thousand Oaks/Rowe. Moved to Bulverde however we come into town because of the vegetable selection and pricing. Over the last few years prices have continued to increase. This last weekend was the last straw. Wife wanted a rose bush and I was going to get some more okra. Last time the price for okra was ($3.49) and I could hardly stomach paying that. I remember prices at $1.99 then $2.49 and now $3.49. The excuse for the price was because it is organic… Went this weekend and okra was priced at $5.99 (literally thought it was mislabeled) as I had just paid $3.49, well again I was told because it’s organic. Obviously this is some excuse the employees were told to say. $5.99 per okra plant, rainbow gardens really!!?? Decided to not get the rose bush and especially not the okra, left and went to HEB where vegetable plants were $1.50. By the way other vegetables at rainbow were priced at $5.99 as well. You have effectively priced yourself out and have lost a long term customer. I used to recommend to everyone to go there and now I tell them you’re out of touch. I would give 1 star but because of long history a gave a 2. Again, $5.99!!! Fix your prices!!

Very expansive array of plants and flowers. All seemed to be priced right. Customer service was non existent though as I walked around for quite a bit and was not offered any help as 3 workers walked right past me.

Awesome collection of just about everything to inspire a green thumb. It was like going to a nature park including wrens, warblers and beautiful cardinals.

Alesha helped me so much. I won't go into details but I can tell you she's an amazing person and she's dedicated to her community. 💛 I hope this review is viewed by her manager and values just how special she truly is. She made my day and gave me amazing advice.

Will not be going back. Soil was moldy.
    Downgrading review to 2 stars.
Great selection of plants and pots, but supplies were old. (View photo of moldy potting soil). Waste of money.

Excellent assortment of plants and pots. They had plants that Home Depot did not have. The guys working throughout the nursery were knowledgeable and very helpful. Their prices are more on the expensive side. I purchased x2 snake plants ($19.99 each) , a small bag of soil ($15.99), and x1 ceramic pot (39.99) for a total of $103.88 (including tax). You are better off going to home depot or Lowes or HEB for potting soil. They do not offer a military discount.

The young lady checking us out (outside) was quite rude. She was very surly and was not pleasant to interact with.

I found out about this garden and I had to come. They do have two locations, and I went to this location because it was closer to where I live. They do have wagons up at the front, which is pretty awesome for you to take with you walking towards the back while you shop through the garden. They have a great variety of annuals, perennials, indoor plants, outdoor plants, different trees, fruit trees, succulents, and also cacti. I do love the great variety of different soils, potting soils, potting mix, in ground soils, great quality organic like Black Gold that they have, so I was very happy with that. You check out on your way out towards the front; you just raise up and show all the different prices that are written on the flower pots and they’ll tally up your cart and you check out and leave. I think that’s pretty awesome for them to have prices listed written on the bottom of flower pots or on the side of it, that way you don’t have to be searching or trying to figure out what the price of a particular plant is that you want. They did have a great amount of employees walking around throughout the garden, willing and ready to help you.
