Love this place! Excellent care of all products! Allen was the best part of my experience with repotting my oversized pathos ivy!

Only reason I am not giving 5 stars is for pricing. Definitely a price premium of 10-15% over the major garden centers (especially given the relative small size of the plants), but the variety and health of them can’t be beat. The nursery itself is beautifully laid out and landscaped that just visiting it, is in itself a good time.

I absolutely love Rainbow Gardens especially this location! I needed to freshen up my yard with some new plants and Alexis specifically helped me pick out some Passion Vine varieties and recommended some Dragon Fruits as well. She even went out of her way to show me how to care for them. These plants would’ve been very unhappy if it wasn’t for her help since I’m not much of a green thumb, but they’re thriving as you can see from my pictures.
I was also educated on how Bonsai trees are grown and I’m much more confident in purchasing one thanks to Kevin!

I’ll be coming back for sure and asking for their help by name every time I go.

Second time at Rainbow Gardens to look for and buy some supplies. The two women at their respective desks by the door didn't speak, no welcome or acknowledgement. Not the vibe I want or hope for when looking to learn, find things or spend money. Maybe there's a customer preference since the non-melanated people who walked in about 6 seconds after me receieved a "hi, welcome in". Off to Milbergers where there's always helpful energy and a welcoming atmoshphere, lesson learned.

Rainbow Gardens is my jam! The employees are super friendly and the work with the SAWS water saver coupons. I also got lots of tips and advice from an employee who said she’d designed a bed I was in love with. I’ve bought several plants there now and all are gorgeous and holding up nicely. They also have some sweet shop kitties. I always try to buy my plants here, now. The Rainbow Bucks program in august is also really great! They do partnerships with Curator Coffee sometimes, too, which is a business you should check out!

Beautiful place and great prices. I wish they had more choices in amendments. At least they aren't all on the fox farm pseudo elite squad. The Coast of Maine line is a bonus but wish they would carry the seedling mix and Stonington blend. It their elite line so its weird they forgo that on the inventory. They have a gorgeous setup and a vast amount of quality cultivars and gardening supplies. I just wish they beefed up the nutes with Botanicare, Cronk, Rock Resonator, Gaia Green, any hydroponic supplies ( rock wool, geolyte, buckets, reservoirs, etc. ). Hell carry some living soil raised garden beds (those PVC ones). well you has local worm castings which was dope but you are missing out on a critical revenue stream. Give me a DM and we can discuss.

Rainbow Gardens is our go-to nursery. Sure, we have the big box stores nearby and even another nursery closer to us, but they aren't Rainbow Gardens!
What sets this place apart is the great staff, patient and always available to answer questions and walk you over to the actual plants and discuss in detail where you need to plant and the care of the plant. The staff is super knowledgeable. As far as selection, they always have what I am looking for in stock and then some! I never leave this place empty-handed. The prices are reasonable and the plants are always healthy. The gardens are quite large so a drawback would be. If you are in a wheelchair or handicap you might find this place a little difficult to navigate as there is an uphill area and uneven surfaces. But, I am sure the staff would be happy to assist you to get an item you need. If that was the case. I highly recommend Rainbow Gardens.

    Updated review:

It is so hurtful, annoying, and disappointing when your favorite place lets you down.

When visiting keep in mind that nefarious people go as well; cutting or breaking limbs off of plants to steal.

This causes some unique pots, some of them are the last on the shelves, to be mistreated or missing limbs - essentially harming the plant and reducing its overall value and appearance (marks and callused over breaks and scars).

Being a regular customer that buys something Every-time I visit (rare plant hunter) found a sad Plumeria who lost a full limb - All its cousins had 3 healthy limbs. It was the last unique color (Nirvana).

A “gentleman” who I assume is the manager was called and was told by a worker who went and checked than in fact it is the last one and all others have 3 limbs…

The dude cavalierly says that’s the prices. Period. Didn’t even look at me in the eye and called it an “old break from the vender.”

    — I have gone back two other times, in the span since my original comment, and the poor plant is STILL unsold and in WORSE conditions FOR THE SAME PRICE!

This place has all kinds of affordable flowers, shrubs, trees, plants and flowers. It is so relaxing walking through the aisle of green. Go visit now to get coupons for August. My yard is going to look so good.

When it comes to good quality plants and advice, there is no better place in San Antonio and the surrounding areas. Rainbow Gardens has been a growing part of the San Antonio Area for decades, growing to meet San Antonio's changing needs. Thank you for your professional and pleasant staff. They are always able to give me the information I need to make my yard into my personal paradise year round.

Todays outing included a stop at Rainbow Gardens Nursery in Thousand Oaks, San Antonio, Texas. The nursery is a lively and bustling spot for plant lovers, especially when the weather is perfect for gardening, like it is right now!

The parking can be a bit tricky, as it's often tight, and you might have to circle around a few times to find an open spot. However, once you get in, the atmosphere is definitely worth it.

You can either enter through the shop or head straight to the outdoor plant area from the outside entrance, where you’ll find an impressive variety of plants. The nursery is busy, but it's clear that it's a favorite for locals looking to start their planting projects. Despite the crowd, it's easy to get help when you need it, as the staff is readily available and knowledgeable.

The selection of plants is great, catering to both beginners and seasoned gardeners alike. Whether you're looking for vibrant flowers, shrubs, or unique landscaping options, such as xeriscape plants, Rainbow Gardens has a lot to offer.

It’s a very nice place to shop for all your gardening needs, with a friendly and busy vibe that makes it clear why it’s a go-to spot for plant enthusiasts in the area.

I went in to get a few houseplants, not really expecting anything special and was about to leave UNTILL I met Ashley. She is basically a walking plant encyclopedia when it comes to house plants. I over spent and don’t even care. I left with knowledge and confidence to care for my plants for many years to come. I will be back soon for more plants and Ashley will be my go to plant girl from now on.

I have been to both locations, but this one seems to offer a huge variety of succulents and cacti. I'm a cacti person, and I was in awe! They have large ones, small ones, and they hit every price point, which I love. Every time I go, I leave with a cactus or two. I love their selection of plant pots and garden decorations. The staff has always been friendly, too. It's a great place to just look around! I live in far SE SA, and it's worth the drive.

Had a great experience at Rainbow Gardens. They have a huge selection of plants — everything is healthy, well cared for, and nicely displayed.
Ashley was especially amazing. She’s incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and genuinely helpful. She took the time to answer my questions and made sure I felt confident about my choice. You can tell she truly cares about plants and about helping customers. I’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

Is it appropriate for one of your employees to give the middle finger to another motorist just for honking at them? This happened at Ralph Hall and 205 in Rockwall at 11:00am 10/2/25. The truck was a mess a panel type vehicle traveling East on Ralph Hall, he was in the inside left turn lane and after turning travelled immediately across all lanes to brake abruptly and turn into the Racetrack. I honked at the driver for this ridiculous maneuver and was given the finger by the driver.
