Jim was extremely professional and thorough. He explained everything he was doing in great detail so I could understand exactly what I was I paying for. He made it to my house before Thanksgiving so we didn't have to wait. Thanks to Jim we can finally do laundry. He unclogged our drain pipe from our washer. Jim is probably the most thorough and competent plumber there is. I will definitely use him again for any future plumbing concerns. He came by to check out a persistent and concerning damp smell in my house (I had already had a few professionals come out to see if they could figure out what was going on and they just had no idea). He did a thorough inspection and realized it was a busted pipe under my foundation. He answered all of my questions and even walked me through the home insurance claim process (I am a new homeowner). Jim repaired my outdoor hose faucet which was leaking. We had tried every type of faucet handle and nothing worked. The threads were stripped. He explained the job and used his expertise to install a new valve, stem and all the associated parts to make it now work perfectly. He also repaired my kitchen faucet that was leaking from the faucet. He went over and beyond to also tighten the handles and the main nozzle. He was very professional, responsive and on time. Great experience with Jim Bertolino. I called late at night when I discovered the leak and he walked me through a few steps to figure out this was not an emergency. He had me on the schedule for the next day and was super knowledgeable about the problem. He took the time to go over everything with me and fixed it quickly. You can tell Jim genuinely cares about his clients. They left everything super clean and his work is guaranteed for a year. Very professional and reasonable prices!

I hired Jim to replace and repair two outside hose spigots. He was friendly, courteous, knowledgeable and totally professional. He called ahead with an accurate time of arrival. He clearly explained the work proposal in detail. The work was excellent. Cleanup was completed nicely. I have used Jim Bertolino occasionally in the past and always found that he performed admirably. Jim has nearly 40 years of experience and is well-regarded by the city building inspectors.
This time we had a major plumbing issue involving a break in a 2 inch drain line that affected the utility room, kitchen and den areas of our home.
Jim diagnosed the problem correctly and accurately and began immediately to make the required repairs. He explained in detail verbally and in writing what was involved and the associated costs. He detailed each step with digital pictures which he supplied to the insurance adjuster and which I am sure made their job easier and quicker to resolve coverage.
The damage involved a significant inconvenience to our family but Jim did everything he could to minimize our unfortunate situation.
The repairs took several days and involved removing vinyl tile in the kitchen, breaking up the concrete slab, locating the damaged area, obtaining permits and inspection, replacing about 20 feet of drain line, installing fresh concrete and returning appliances to their appropriate places. During this time Jim and his employees worked diligently often into the late evening.
Jim handled our situation without inconveniencing his other customers. I feel Jim Bertolino does exceptional work and I would recommend him to anyone in need of a plumber. Thank you Jim for your professionalism and dedication to doing the job the way it should be done.

Jim and his son recently installed a new hot water heater in my rental property. He did an amazing job, very professional and knew what he was doing. Absolutely the best! Two other plumbing companies stated i needed to replace my sewer pipes under my slab. Jim came and ran the correct testing and diagnosed where the leak was within 30 minutes. He did tell me when he first got there where it was but ran tests to back it up. Saved me thousands of dollars. He is a wonderful, straight-up, honest person. Totally recommend him.

We needed a plumber on the weekend and they were quick to reply and set up an appointment for us! It began as a small clog and ended up being a bigger issue than we thought, but fortunately they had everything they needed to ensure this was properly diagnosed and resolved. They stayed as long as it took to resolve the problem, late into the evening Sunday to make sure it got done and kept us informed throughout so we understood everything that was happening. Jim was great to work with. He came out to diagnose a pesky, persistent (to say the least) plumbing issue we’ve been having in our home since we moved in. He methodically and logically eliminated possible root causes of our issue, in a step-by-step coherent manner. He involved us in the process each step of the way, while explaining why he was troubleshooting the way he was before honing in on the problem and identifying the necessary solution. Owner was quick to respond which I appreciated. However I was quoted $1500 to have a water heater, that I already purchased, and two new valves replaced. Granted it was in a conspicuous space, I thought it was very pricey. I Had another reputable company do it for less than a third.

I called and left a message and received a call back within 10 minutes. I found out he doesn’t work with home warranty, but he walked me through the entire process of water heater repair. He gave me all the info i needed to make sure i was well prepared for any tech sent by home warranty. Its great to know that someone is on your side and takes the time to give you free professional advice/knowledge.

Jim has been our guardian angel and since we bought our very first home this year. Shortly after we closed on our first home, our new washing machine caused a toilet line back up in an adjacent bathroom and Jim determined that our main sewage line needed replacement. What was at first a huge and scary ordeal became blessing in disguise in the end, because we had Jim there to help us. When the sewage line was dug up and completely replaced, we could see that that our front yard tree's roots had grown into the pipe and over time this effectively caused a clog in the home's drainage system.

Prior to even pursuing this option, Jim took the time to explain the issue in detail and process of resolution, which acquainted us with our home's plumbing and empowered us as first time homeowner's. Not only was he a godsend in upgrading our main sewage line, but he assisted us with our insurance claim throughout the entire process and literally saved us a small fortune.

Flash forward six months later and my fiancée and I learned our garbage disposal had been leaking underneath the kitchen sink which caused a mold issue as the leak was not initially visible to us. Prior to undergoing mold remediation, Jim examined the piping in the walls and learned that the actual cause of the mold issue was in fact pipes that had rusted through and were leaking waste water into the insulation. Once the remediation process was over, Jim visited us in late hours to accommodate us in his busy work schedule, continued to advise us of our options, installed top quality materials, and even tested his work afterwards to ensure quality control.

Jim really takes care of his clients and his solutions are extremely effective and built to last. He literally upgrades your home's plumbing and geniusly installs easily accessible areas for snaking as a pre-emptive approach to address any potential issues in the future. You can hire your average plumber, or you can hire Jim--a good-hearted man who knows his shit, will take good care of you, and have your best interests in mind.

My daughter just purchased her first home, the water heater and hvac were noted by the home inspector as old with possible issues.  I contacted Jim to come out and give them the once over.  Both he and his hvac contact came out promptly and gave me the low down. Jim actually called the water heater manufacturer to find out exactly how old the unit was since it wasn't labeled, turns out 21 years and well beyond it's normal life expectancy. Similarly the hvac was 22 years old. We had them replace both for a competitive price but I'm sure there were no shortcuts taken...solid, top notch work. I received before and after pictures, the work was prompt and everything was cleaned up afterwards. Great experience.

First things first, I would highly recommend Jim and his team for any of your plumbing needs.

We just bought a house and found out that the newly upgraded bathroom shower was leaking to the first floor when in use. We called Jim on Saturday and he was able to come to take a look at our problem on Monday. Initial response time was an A+ in my opinion. He was able to find the problem area and offered two courses of action based on what he was able to find upon more detailed inspection. He found the exact problem and educated us on exactly what occurred and how it needed to be fixed (while pointing out some of the shortfalls done by the contractors who renovated it before we bought it).

Jim and his son came back the next day; accommodating our hectic schedule. After a few hours of work and cleanup, he was educating us on what he did, allowed us to inspect his work, and demonstrated that the problem was resolved. Quality of work was an A+ as well. The final result depicted in the picture; the leak was coming from old hardware (not shown) and he replaced with new/upgraded hardware and connections. They cleaned up the work site and ensured we were happy with the results.

The over 30 years of plumbing experience shows in his work and in his explanation of the problem, possible solutions, and Virginia Code. I would HIGHLY recommend Jim and his team. His information is now stored on my phone and if there are any plumbing problems in the future, he will be my first call.

I would highly recommend Jim Bertolino for any plumbing needs. I am a newer home owner and have never had to deal with plumbing issues before. Jim spent over 30 minutes on the phone with me (before he even came to my house ) to listen to my concerns, trouble shoot, and talk me through his process of finding a leak. Our Water heater had expired unexpectedly and Jim Bertolino & Son Plumbing and Drain Service Inc. thankfully came to our rescue 😅. They were incredibly expedient & knowledgeable and had an old water heater taken out and exchanged for a new and upgraded one in one business day. They explained the entire process in laments terms with over 40 years + of experience to easily put my family and I at ease during what would have been other wise a stressful time.
