I first became aware of TSP Lawns & Landscapes when they put down a new lawn in my neighbor's front yard a few years ago. I was impressed with their work. Since then, I've used TSP for several landscaping projects, including a major rework of the slope of the back yard where it borders on a small lake that involved removal of a lot of vegetation and brush. Most recently, I asked TSP to redo the front yard culvert retaining wall, which was very old and in poor condition. My wife and I decided to not go again with wood, but instead changed to Dublin retaining wall block at their recommendation. The result exceeded our expectations. We were very impressed with the installation crew, who kept us informed of their progress and did an excellent job of constructing the new wall. They also completely cleaned up the site and left it in better condition than when they started. I'd highly recommend TSP for the quality and value of their landscaping work.

Drew and his crew came out and did an excellent job pruning and trimming the bushes in our front flowerbeds. They excavated a few unwanted bushes as well. Very professional and very reasonably priced ! They did a great job ! We highly recommend them for your lawn care and landscape needs !

September 2023 TSP poured a driveway at my home in Newport News. I exceeded their recommendations and kept weight off the new, curing concrete for several weeks. December 2023, 4 months after my new concrete driveway was installed, despite my precautions, the concrete is crumbling, yes Crumbling!
For over one month I have repeatedly called and texted TSP to address this defective, failing concrete TSP product
No one from TSP has responded to my complaints.
No one answers their phone or emails.
This driveway cost thousands and it is cracked and crumbling after only months and TSP is completely trying to evade taking responsibility.
Look elsewhere, learn from my bad experience with TSP
UPDATE: 3/18/2024
I am updating my review to reflect the TSP follow up to my earlier negative review.
Shortly after that review
I was contacted by the owner of TSP who was apologetic and thoroughly addressed my concerns and complaints.
TSP took full responsibility for the problem with the cracked concrete and we reviewed the possible reasons for the cracking. Because I had personally watched the concrete being poured the day that my driveway was installed it made sense to me that the cracks in the concrete were not the fault of TSP but a problem with the concrete mix and extreme heat the day of installation.
TSP has agreed to redo the problem area at no cost. The delay has been due to weather and availability of concrete.
Drew, the project manager has been very responsive and communicative with me and I am upgrading my review to
4 STARS. I took one star off because of the original communication problem but I do plan to continue to work with this company and Drew in the future because they do very good work, are responsive and do stand by their work results. -
The TSP landscape crew did a wonderful job mulching our yard. They were on time and completed the work quickly and precisely. They carefully outlined the mulching areas and then applied a generous amount of hardwood mulch. Crew members were very friendly. Their pricing is reasonable and competitive. We highly recommend TSP for any yard and landscape projects.

I have used TSP twice now, both a grading job plus planting of trees. My experiences were absolutely fantastic, there was nothing that I asked of them before or during the job that Drew could not handle. The experience that the team had was noticeable by the first hour of work.
I recommend TSP and Drew to be your choice for any small or large jobs in the future, you will not be disappointed. -
I had TSP Landscaping - Grading - Patio do an overcast of top soil on area's in a shaded area in my front yard and then they did a re-seed with heat tolerant grass. A year later the lawn looks super and does much better in the summer time. TSP also removed some brush from my tree line and ground it up. So I would recommend TSP to anyone in the Williamsburg area of Virginia. Next we have a fall cleanup project in mind. So please give Tye a call, he has people standing by.

What a pleasure to deal with TSP as we needed the rocks replenished around the perimeter of our home. Their response to our inquiry was prompt and the work completed quickly. The workers were fantastic. They worked diligently and were very courteous. We certainly appreciated TSP's professionalism and ethics. Great job!

So, I called them about 4 weeks ago as I was looking to get hardscaping done in my backyard. It took twice to get through to the answering service. The lady was nice and took my information and said that the actual TSP people would get in touch with me as they were busy at the moment. Here we are 4 weeks later with no phone call and I moved on to a different company who is a vast improvement in communication skills. I would not recommend this business at all as they just don't seem to care.

I should have read the reviews….
While I do believe the intent to satisfy customers is good, the final product for the price I paid was disappointing.
What I liked:
1) Very detailed & itemized quote (5 stars!)
2) Very responsive & helpful phone service (Wendy)
3) We were introduced to an excellent Mulch company through them 😃
What I did NOT like:
1) Weeds popped up within 1-2 days because the layer of mulch put down was most definitely NOT the 2 inches quoted AND they simply used a weedeater to remove weeds…
2) The staff who planted my new plants didn’t even water them after planting!! They left the job without notifying us, so we discovered that the new plants hadn’t been watered after they left & when we called the company.
3) Believed I was going to get professionally edged flowerbeds … but… they look the same as what I have done myself & the mulch washes into the lawn.
4) Several New plants began to die within a week of planting. When I asked about a guarantee, I was told only if I was enrolled in a Lawn Service… which I find insulting.
The company did replace 1 plant that died, but only after I raised a stink. -
TSP came to my grandmothers house Monday and did an amazing job. They cut and trimmed every bush and pulled out all the weeds. Her yard is huge and has a flower bed around the hole property. They didn’t cut any corners and made an overgrown property look great.

I’ve worked with TSP Lawns & Landscaping Inc. for over four years and have been consistently impressed. They are responsive, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. Their team has successfully handled both large projects and smaller ongoing needs, always with great communication and follow-through. Reliable, professional, and committed to quality—I highly recommend their services.

This is my second post. I removed the first and the owner was supposed to come by. The first Friday appt was cancelled by the owner. No biggie. I forgot to text him back but did text him back a week later with my availability. Over 2 weeks later, there has been no follow up. As the customer, I should NOT have to chase down people which is a common theme here. There was zero urgency to remedy this lazily completed job. I’m sure the owners reply will make it seem like we're the problem like last time......which they did.
We were referred to them by VCAP and would not recommend them. Horrible communication. The more I look at the pavers the more I hate how lazy and inconsistent the pattern of the install was. There are puddles on the patio after rain which means they weren’t leveled right. Just looked at the Belgard website for the 3 piece London Cobble and there is a recommended pattern. This was hands down just lazy or lack of skill. The grading on the sod is too much(or too little) and they should have used more topsoil before putting it down. They put down pre-used sod(or whatever it’s called) instead of newly cut sod without asking us. They also didn’t put the sod down in the standard offset pattern. There’s hydraulic fluid all over the street in front of the house and I’m sure a ton of it probably leached into the soil in our backyard too. They never came back to finish the door(and never brought back our push broom). I feel like we paid A money for C work.
**Edit after owner reply: Yes we did tip. Yes we bought them lunch. We were happy at the time given what used to be there but the more we look at it, the more we realized how lazy it is. Like a newly built house that looks nice at first but once you start living in it, you realize the build quality is poor. I also did text you but you ghosted. Again, I shouldn't have to chase you down. Amazing how you say "any legitimate concerns" as if you actually think what is in the pictures is acceptable work. Especially the steps of all things.
"We followed standard Belgard London Cobble installation practices for the three-piece system" No, you didn't. It looks more like a bad 4 piece pattern. A simple google search will show that. This is not the recommended pattern from Belgard. Its a low effort one
"We installed fresh sod......" look at the last picture. Line item “Discount for used sod”. So obviously didn’t even look at our invoice. Again, this was about doing stuff without telling me or even asking but it worked out. I never complained about the current condition of the sod. It's a nice deep green and I've already mowed it. It was very uneven so I had to level it with fresh soil
Interesting how you didn't address all the hydraulic fluid in the road and all the fluid that absolutely leached into our soil. I guess that's ok -
Great company to handle all your landscaping needs

Outstanding work, very professional, I could not be more pleased with the results.
-

Dave Chewey, landscape designer for Custom Gardens, does fantastic designs that are esthetically pleasing and environmentally great!
-
We did a brake job for this company. Very nice people help me with my plants at home.
-
Owner (John) was very responsive and professional. Definitely will be using Custom Gardens for my landscaping needs.

It's a shame that the owner apparently cares nothing about responding to his customers' concerns. I got on here looking for a landscaping design company, but if there's 1 thing I can't stand it's poor communication. Thanks to all for your reviews. I'll be searching for another company.

I called them on Monday, set an appointment, got off work early so that I could ensure that I was home for the guy to come out and give me an estimate, this turned into a no call, no show. I tried to call them about 10 min after expected arrival and only got a voicemail machine. I would give negative stars if I could. Mr. Dave Chewy was the one expected to arrive, and he did not. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! No call, no show = NO HIRE!!!!
