Bait and switch company. Quote you one price and then change the price once they get to your house. Are these guys even licensed plumbers??
-
Professional, great bid, quick, cleaned up and charged what they said.
-
Excellent work!!! My floors look brand new.
A professional, energetic, hard-working and honest team. I couldn't be happier. -
I've been using D Young's plumbing for several years and they are a no-nonsense service that gets the job done with good quality.

Not happy with them. We had told them what our problems was, but when they arrived they had the wrong tools. They had to leave and come back TWICE in order to actually fix the problem. I think this was just an excuse to charge more. Why wouldn't they have the right tools in the truck?

I have had a leak under my kitchen sink for over a month. I had my (former ) go-to plumber out to fix it and was told I needed a new water supply line. I was told that they need a 3/4" connection for the line and it needed to be 18" long. I called after a week had gone by and was told they were going to check with Guy, the owner because they couldn't find the part. When I called the next week to find out what Guy had said, I learned he was on vacation. They still hadn't found the right water line for my Grohe LadyLux faucet after 2 weeks. I found it hard to believe that Grohe parts were SAE (inches) and not MM (metric). I found it in 3 minutes on Amazon, sent them the information, called again to see if I should order it for them and I have still not heard from them 2 weeks later. I have used D Young's for 20 years for everything including a kitchen remodel. My former 5 star rating is now 1 and I have to find a new plumber to fix the leak. Fortunately, it is a slow leak but we have a pan to collect the drip. That has been in place for over a month. Any business who treats a loyal customer like this doesn't deserve my business. It is too bad that a long professional relationship had to end like this but oh, well. Thanks a lot, Guy!

The quality of the work is good. But DO NOT trust their labor time estimation.
I had Paul coming to my recently remodeled condo to connect the kitchen skink and dishwasher drain to the sewer. Paul told me it should be simple and he could finish both the job himself for approximately half an hour each (around $250), and he can finish the job on that day.
At the end of the day, Paul left the job unfinished and did not give me any reason. I kept contacting D Young’s plumbing and the job was finally finished
6 days later. They send me a invoice for TWO technician worked on this job for 1.75 (around $500). -
Stay away from this business. I believe they over bill you and try to make you pay by intimidation: After 2.5 hours of work they billed me $800+tax without any detail. When I asked for detail break down of the invoice I was told that it would be a lot more. And then I was told "No we are not going to give you the detail and if you don't pay today we will put a lien on your home next Monday..". One hour later they sent me an invoice with first 1/2 hour rate at $165 and 2 additional hour rate at $243 per hour. This is all how it started: At my initial call, the owner Guy said he would come out the next day at 3PM. I said how about between 3-4. He said "fine". The next day, we took time off from work but it's a no show and no call no apology. Then when we finally set up the time to do the work, the final invoice is just one line without any explanation. He said he gave me a set price to start but he only gave me a range... I said, "Did you record what you said?" and he said "yes..." LIE. Horrible communication style. Lesson learned: trust your gut feeling when people can't keep their time, no show no call and no apology. They are sloppy and they are not service orientated or customers are not their top priorities. They are out there to get your wallet. Can't trust their work or their prices.

I've hired D Young many times in the past, and although they have many problems, I just ignored it because apparently everyone gives them raving reviews. Looking back, I should have followed my gut instinct. Every time I've ever called them in for a job, they "forget" to do something so I wind up having to pay through the nose for a second visit. I can't help but wonder if it's intentional to milk more money out of their clients.
The last straw came today, though. See, my home flooded a month ago when the upstairs water main froze and flooded the entire downstairs. D Young was called in to fix it. I've been in a hotel since December so I didn't even know until this week that although they fixed the bathtub and toilet, they did not fix the sink which is now sitting stagnant and full of water. So a follow-up appointment was made for 2:00 yesterday. They arrived an hour late and were extremely rude; scowls on their faces, no explanation for their tardiness, not even an apology! Then they take one look at the drain and tell me that they don't have the right tool with them and would have to come back another day. How do you forget the one item you need to unclog sink drains when that's the one and only reason you came here in the first place?
Oh, but it gets better. After spending a grand total of 3 minutes in my house and saying they couldn't do anything, they just walked out the front door without a word. I had to sprint outside chasing after them right as they were getting back in the truck. They were just going to leave without telling me when they'd be back! I asked what time they'd be here tomorrow, and they just shrugged their shoulders and said "we'll let you know". By one PM they hadn't called me, so I called them. Receptionist said she couldn't get hold of Guy, the owner and head plumber. So I called again at one. Then at two. And three. No response. Finally, at 3:40, the receptionist called back only for the owner, Guy, to grab the phone from her and hurl verbal abuse at me for a solid minute, screaming into the receiver, calling me a liar, saying the sink was just fine, and that they were not going to "deal with it". Then he hung up on me. I have tried to be polite, I really have...I did not argue with the receptionist, or raise my voice to her at all because I know none of this is her fault, all I want is to be able to have my pipes working again. But I guess it doesn't take much to set Guy off.
This is not how you run a business, Guy. I'm shocked that you're still operating, let alone get so many recommendations. So I beg all of you reading this, if you need a plumber, DO NOT CALL D YOUNG UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, unless you want to be treated like garbage and spend more money than you have to. -
When it comes to hiring a plumber, we all want one that is skilled and will only do, at a fair price, what's necessary. If they're a nice person, then that's a bonus. D Young's Plumbing is all of that, and more. The owners, Diane and Guy, couldn't be nicer and more eager to solve the problem.
In our case, it was a possible natural gas leak. One plumber quoted us $1,500, without bothering to even come take a look at the pipe. Another company asked $200 to come take a look. D Young's was so much better than those two.
Diane arranged for Guy to come take a look first. Guy appeared earlier than scheduled (he called first to ask if that was okay). After inspecting the possible site of the leak, Guy said that there was no leak and that what we were smelling was probably unburnt gas from our nearby water heater exhaust. Then Guy said that there would not be any charge and that we should go and enjoy the rest of the day!
Later, one of our neighbors told us that she spotted Guy as he was leaving and asked him if he could take a look at a plumbing issue that she was having. He did so, advised her what to do, and also did not charge her.
We're grateful for FINALLY finding a plumber who we can trust and will provide service when we need it. We really have high praise for D Young's Plumbing. -
Guy is really nice, but the business is poorly managed and this will lead to your time being wasted. After the initial consult for my bathroom Reno they came by and took a look. He was unable to give me a labour estimate until I chose my faucet trim. After choosing my fixtures and sending them the information nobody responded. I send another follow up email a few weeks later and still no response. I waited another week and called in during business hours and I was informed that they would contact me next day with the quote. It has now been another week and nobody has called me back. I called on two spectate occasions during business hours with no answer. Just go with a different company

A friend from work recommended Sean from wood floor Bethesda to me and told me she had him totally redo her stairs. after the first call i knew he was going to be amazing. he came and gave us a free estimate and was able to articulate perfectly what needed to be done and it was right in our budget. he was able to bring with him color samples as well as picket samples for us to choose from which made things alot easier. he was very kind and friendly and you could tell he knew what he was talking about. he fully sanded and restrained our whole staircase and also painted the risers and stringers white and it turned out phenomenal. he finished exactly when he said he would and the project was beyond our expectations. his whole crew was amazing and even though he didn't have to, he would always bring coffee in the morning. I would recommend Sean from wood floor Bethesda for any stairs job and also look forward to having him remove the carpet upstairs and install hardwood soon.

D Young has showed consistency in their professionalism, friendly attitudes, from the owner to the receptionist and to the plumbers. The work they have done with my kitchen faucet is really good.
Now I'm having issues with two other dripping faucets and the main condo unit shut off that didn't work and became a potential emergency, they always are there for me. Thanks D Young, I would not choose another plumbing company :) Appreciate your services and your attitudes. Take care! -
Sooo impressed with this business. I had a broken pipe just off the water meter. After my phone call, the owner, Guy, was out to take a look inside of 15 minutes and had me scheduled immediately the next morning. Guy has been in the business for decades and has the kind of customer service I wish was not such an outlier - friendly, professional and down home. His people were out the next morning and were equally impressive. Price was more than fair.
