We’ve had our washer since 2016, and recently, it stopped working. A technician named Leigh (or Lee) came out and informed us the transmission had failed, causing the basket to break. He insisted this was “normal” wear and tear and should fall under the manufacturer warranty. Despite what he said in our home, it was apparent after he left that he was more concerned with shifting blame to us than resolving the actual problem. I clarified we’ve owned the washer for over 8 years, used it correctly, and it failed during a regular load.

    Fact Check:
The transmission and basket are critical components designed to endure regular usage over years. A failure like this after 8 years aligns with the typical lifespan of a washer, not user negligence. Without evidence of improper use or overloading, blaming the customer is speculative at best. Overloading could not have caused this, as the washer was not overloaded when it failed.

    Buyer Beware:
If your home warranty company sends this provider, think twice before paying the service fee. Based on reviews, this company appears to have a pattern of taking fees while denying claims instead of solving problems.

    Additional Concerns:

They arrived in a personal vehicle, raising concerns about professionalism.
The technician seemed more intent on building a case to deny the claim than repairing the issue.
A warranty is supposed to protect against normal wear and tear, but this felt like a deliberate scheme to avoid fulfilling its purpose. Blaming customers for “normal usage” without proof is unreasonable and unacceptable.

This experience was a complete waste of time, leaving us without a washer for over 2 weeks and dealing with shady, profit-driven practices. It seems Choice Home Warranty company partners with providers like this to create a false sense of protection while denying claims.

    Lesson learned!

    Response to feedback provided:
To suggest that we poured acid into our washer is not only false but also a reflection of the extreme lengths this company is willing to go to deflect responsibility. If you truly had 30 years of experience, you’d know that a washer showing damage like ours is consistent with a motor or transmission failure, not misuse or external tampering.

When the motor or transmission fails, the resulting damage often includes broken internal components, which is exactly what happened in our case. We were left with pieces of the washer’s components at the bottom of the basket. The technician saw this firsthand.

Regarding your mention of acid: Introducing acid into a washer would corrode metal components, including the drum, motor, and bearings, and likely cause visible rust or pitting. None of these signs were present in our washer, further disproving your baseless claim. Our washer failed during a normal load, and we maintain proper care of our appliances.

Finally, your statement that “we requested the technician to say the rest of the components failed due to the transmission” is misleading, these were his words exact NOT ours. What we wanted was an accurate diagnosis—not blame for something we didn’t do. Instead of acknowledging the natural wear and tear of an 8-year-old washer, your company chose to focus on creating unfounded accusations to justify a denial.

To be clear, we understand the warranty company made the final decision, but it is clear your assessment was designed to lead to this denial. Our experience with your company has been nothing but disappointing, and this response further solidifies the poor service and professionalism we’ve encountered.

Based on the review this technician gave my home warranty company ( choice ) denied the claim

The technician said that we were responsibly for not loading the washer properly and so the company denied the claim . How did they come to that conclusion I do not know for sure

The mistake we did was having a candid conversation with the technician, who used that information against us.

Machines break all time eventually and this was over 10 years old . Obviously they would be on choice warranty’s list if the claim could be denied somehow

They were assigned by my Home Warranty, so I was immediately skeptical.
However, I received fast, efficient, professional service. I will go back to them.

Dispatch called me early to put my dog up. He got here. He was very polite. He came in and fixed the part right away. Explain what he was doing. There was an extra part they sent it back. The parts looked like the same old part that was bad I had a problem with the refrigerator drawer and he fixed that up and beyond a normal service call !!!

Stay away from this company. There's not enough words for this company's bad review, from being unprofessional, rude and lack of telephone etique. I should have read Jairo Parrales review it's almost identical to my situation. I accepted another appointment scheduled by Choice Warranty and they were a NO CALL NO SHOW AND NO TEXT COMMUNICATION I waited to no avail. They have collected the service fee. The technician diagnosed my machine said the internal valves were bad and needed to order the parts but also the exterior valves needed replacement bc they didn't close this would need a plumber so I hired a plumber who needed to cut a piece of the drywall to reach the pipes upon inspection and replacement the original valves were in good condition misdiagnosed by Technician Leigh from Gizmo so now I have a hole in the wall and Gizmo has not repaired the washer they just collected the fee. Samantha is abrupt and rude when answering the phone how there i called her on her private line! As if I had control how her telephone line assigned the calls...also, calling once a week is calling to much to check on the status of parts, I filed the claim on December 30th and didn't get the technician to my house until Jan 8th, we are in the middle of February
