Plumbing reviews in Mesa, Arizona

From Angie's List, we called for a minor issue with our gas line in the back BBQ. So sorry we did... while the service was ok, their price was outrageous! OVERCHARGED. Over $500 just to replace a diverter on our BBQ & cap off a fire pit line. Wow! Then Jessica (co-owner) was nasty on the phone when we asked for explanation of their charges. I'm sure she's ultra defensive for these types of calls because its a common issue! Oh & instead of giving the discount advertised as an Angie's member, the invoice ADDED the amount that should've been discounted! If I didn't catch that, I would've paid even more because of my A.L. membership. As another reviewer wrote, "WATCH OUT FOR THESE PEOPLE" Go somewhere else.
They even threatened to put a lien on our property for not paying the same day since we're from out of town & we planned to mail their check. Ummmm...as I said, Jessica was nasty and rude. Don't use them! -
The Plumber from J and H Plumbing was professional, and thorough in his job. He replaced shut off valves that were just starting to weep, saving me possible mold in the cabinets. He also fixed two faucets that would never work right, restoring pressure to normal due to bad aerators. Highly recommend!

At first, this company came out to check on things that might be covered by our home warranty, they were quick and very nice - they had to call to be sure what was wrong was covered- which took a few hours, so they said they would let me know - i told them I wanted to have the fix the issue even if not covered. They called back, said it wasn't covered and that they would order a part for our shower and call us back when it came in to schedule to come out.
I called 5+ times, was called back 3 of those times and told the part was back order, and they would make a point to come out the day the part came in. however, when I called the last 2 times, it had been a month since the original appt, and now no one returned my calls.
I was very disappointed in them. -
I am very please with the job that J&W Plumbing did to my bathroom and I am pleased that Jon stopped by to see how I felt about the job done. I could not be more pleased and happy with what had been done to my bathroom. It looks new and bright and clean. Thank you very much Jon. Bob Baker

I called and was quoted $95 for two hours to replace my sink and install a garbage disposal. I had an appointment for Friday afternoon and took a half day at work to accommodate the appointment. The tech came out and took one look and said I wasn't told I was replacing a sink and I can't lift your sink by myself. He called his supervisor outside and came back in and said he would return and 12:00 pm the next day. at 3:45 pm I called the after hours line and they paged him. at 4:30 I did the same. at 5:05 pm I got a voicemail from the tech that he fell asleep from doing an overnight job and he would try to get out to me. He sounded very tired and I honestly did not want someone doing shabby work if they were sleep deprived and had a bad taste in my mouth as I had re arranged my schedule for this for two days now. I am so disappointed because the reviews looked good on Angies list and I thought I would have a good experience.

They have addressed many plumbing needs throughout my home. Each time they have worked at my home the results have been excellent and they stand by their work.
Most recently, on a Sunday morning they provided prompt service for an emergency and followed up Monday to ensure everything was working properly. I know I can trust them to take care of whatever issue I may have. -
I had J&H Plumbing come out for a septic tank issue that was causing major problems with my plumbing. Upon prompt inspection by J&H, my septic tank was rendered completely non-functional. J&H replaced the lines to the tank and the lines from the tank to the leech system. The technicians did everything professionally and in an extremely timely manner. I was very impressed by the end results and my toilets now flush better than they ever have before. I would recommend this company for all of your plumbing issues 110% of the time. The owner, John, even came out to asses the issue himself and make sure that things were moving along smoothly as well as worked on the job also. That is something you never see anymore these days. Thank you J&H Plumbing!

Long, TL;DR at end.
So this job was about 5 months ago. I'm a pretty capable handyman, enough so that it's rare for me hire out for personal residential work. That being said, I know when something is beyond my experience/ability and needs a professional. Needed a 40 year old gate valve replaced, it was the house main valve and way too close to the wall for my amateur soldering skills. J&H came in with a very fair price to replace with a ball valve, especially when compared to a couple of price-gouging "big name" companies that you see on TV and hear squawking on the radio. Tech comes out, does the work as quoted based on MY description, even though he had to go to the supply store for a fitting (no extra labor charge). Pay the man, we part ways. Nice guy, made sure to tip a little. After curing 24 hours, cue a pinhole leak in a fitting for the irrigation branch line. It can happen to anyone, if I'd have done it half of them woulda leaked and with triple the time involved. No big. Call 'em, they schedule for NEXT day to fix. Tech comes out, takes a long look at it, and I guess calls the Boss. Boss isn't a manager or a supervisor, he's the OWNER! Owner calls me (I'm not home, didn't need to be, valve is outside) and explains that the house has actually been plumbed wrong since originally built in 1978! He talks me through it. Makes sense. Okay, cue the price gouge, right? WRONG! He wants to fix it up to CURRENT code and ASKS me to pay just for the Backflow preventer (apparently at his price, part was 15% more anywhere I looked online) and he covers the labor and all other materials to replumb the whole setup. He was ready to eat the entire project cost to get it right! What?! I know what a skilled tradesman costs a company to employ, they definitely didn't make any money here. Job kinda blew up in their face but they didn't hesitate to absolutely go nuclear on making it right. I'm not wasting time calling anyone else for the next job, they've earned my trust.
TL;DR - This company is timely, communicative, has fair prices, and an almost fanatical commitment to doing the job right. -
Unreliable Plumbing, to disrespect handicap ♿️ people is just wrong.
Wont call ya back Will duck and dodge your call 📞
1.day job will turn I to weeks, or they will sabotage your item so it can never be fixed.. or just hold it for.ransom.......
Stay far far away from J and H
Plumbing.. you will thank me later! -
We have been counting on J & H Plumbing for the past 2 1/2 years. Great customer service. Anytime we need something taken care of they schedule and come out without a problem. We had issues from toilets, sinks, and drains, all the way to removing and replacing pipes. They have also been there to replace faucets and special plumbing situations. They are always willing to give their honest opinion to your situation. They've let us know multiple times when we have requested unnecessary work orders and that has calculated to huge savings on our end.

DO NOT do business with these people.
I called them out to look at my water softener due to a leak. The tech pulled the valve body off the unit and wrapped the threads in teflon tape. Screwed it back on, it still leaked. When he tried to take it off the whole valve body broke off the threads. I chalked it up to age and said lets get it repaired. He took my whole unit to their "repair people" and advised me the job would cost $400 total. A new valve body, and resin. I agreed.
The tech left no receipt, or no contact info of any kind. Fast forward 3 weeks with no calls or updates I dug through my inbound calls and found his number. When I called he advised me the softer was repaired and could be delivered, I expected a call that day to confirm pricing and delivery date. The next day at 7:30am I get a call advising me that the unit could not be repaired because they could not get the broken threads out of the tank.I was advised i should buy a new softer for 900 - 1200 dollars. I requested to speak with a manager. No sense of urgency to my issue, i called them back 4 times before I was able to speak with someone.
When i finally got a hold of a manager I told her on the phone i want it back, and I don't feel they earned their $100 labor charge for ignoring me for 3 weeks, and what I feel was the result of their tech putting the valve body on to tightly causing the threads to be so jammed a repair company could not get them out, and my whole unit is junk. I was happy to pay to have it repaired, but when I'm told its not repairable is where i draw the line. They caused it to not be repairable, end of story.
After an awful phone call with their management where i was advised I would be paying their trip charge or i would not get the equipment back I told them to keep it, because its junk anyhow and i will go to my grave before i pay a company for this kind of service.
So basically at the end of the day all J & H pluming did for me was come to my house and steal my water softener.
DO NOT give them your business. -
Thank you J & H Plumbing, again for a wonderful job! You have been there every time I needed you. Even at 11:30 p.m.
This time, thankfully, if wasn't that late. But you were there right away.
Thank you for handling the backed up sewer this time. And you were in and out quickly. Knowing that I can count on you to do the job and not charge me for any extra time, is such a relief.
And, again, thank you for the times you have been there for any plumbing needs at my salon. I'll never forget when you came out at 11:30 p.m. for this a full blown leak that was flooding the salon. You were there in less than 20 minutes and had it fixed in less than 45 minutes. Jessie even stopped by the next day, at no charge, just to make sure everything was working perfect.
Thank you for being a business I can totally trust. I know very little about plumbing, so knowing I can accept you at your word gives me great peace of mind!! -
Called them a year ago. Spent less than $200 to get my pipes unclogged and plumber explained my plumbing was an addition that was not to code. He said if it clogged again, to fix it would be about $700-$900 and they could get it to code. Year later, as predicted it happened again. I called them to get it fixed like the original plumber explained. But that isn't what happened. Instead I paid $700 to get it unclogged and the plumbing isn't to code, nothing was fixed. When I tried to talk to them after 3 separate phone calls I got hung up on and told I am unreasonable when I rightfully was upset that I paid $700 to NOT have my plumbing issue fixed and nobody was listening to me. So I still am confused what I paid for.

I called J and H Plumbing last night because my water heater was leaking. The tech Jerry came out and fixed it in no time, he explained everything he was doing in detail. He also checked over everything on my water heater which I really appreciate. I will be calling them for all my plumbing needs. I highly recommend them they have great service and are very knowledgeable. Thank you J and H plumbing.

My water heater had burst in my garage and needed service ASAP. From calling to schedule service to J&H Plumbing coming to my house to perform the service, everyone was courteous, polite, efficient and very professional. J&H Plumbing did a amazing job. They arrived within the scheduled time and was knowledgeable and resourceful. In the future I will always call J&H Plumbing for my plumbing needs as well as recommend to my friends.

Will hit a character limit explaining this company, but they are harassing me to pay an invoice for a job that I didn't approve and that they told me was warrantied work. Unfortunately, I trusted the business and didn't know that I needed to record my phone calls with them to prevent harassment. I have filed a BBB complaint and believe that and reviews are my only recourse given I don't have recordings of the phone calls.
1st visit (11/14/18)
I called J&H Plumbing on Nov 13th for a mainline stoppage and getting a cleanout put in in my home, which was, and currently is, rented out. The rates seemed reasonable and we scheduled for the next day (to avoid night rates). On Nov 14th, Javier went out to my house, cleared the blockage and put in the cleanout. He told me that the drywall fit perfectly back in like nothing happened and everything was good. I paid this over two payments because I was out of state and lost my debit card (and was very appreciative that they didn't think I was trying to get out of paying or anything). There were some questions about the invoice, but they were resolved.
2nd visit (12/8/18)
I called J&H on Sat, Dec 8th because the blockage was back; I explicitly asked for information on how this would work given they had just been out (I wanted to know if it was covered by warranty and planned to have someone come back on Monday so I wouldn't be charged weekend rates). I had one missed call from a number I didn't know, and they called back a little later. It was the plumber, telling me he was LEAVING the house having already finished the job. I was angry that I didn't approve him going over there, he told me I'd speak with someone on Monday. I called the office on Monday, December 10th and spoke with a female who told me she apologized for the miscommunication, but not to worry because I wasn't being charged and it was being treated as a warranty for the first visit. I understood this to be closed given our discussion and that they never sent me an invoice.
They have since changed their story and are now threatening me. After thinking there was nothing to resolve, I even recommended them to my dad for a job. I emailed them to get a quote for them to come back out to my house to do a plumbing inspection and put a camera down so we could see if there were any problems to worry about. I also asked about how people usually cover the cleanout (assuming I wasn't meant to patch the drywall).
This is when they started talking about this invoice. Originally when the lady called about the invoice, I thought she was talking about my second payment from the first visit and told her I'd already paid it. When they brought it up again, I asked them to send it through and on May 8th, I received the invoice for the Dec. 8th service for the first time. At that point I responded acknowledging that I hadn't paid it because I was told that there was nothing to pay. They then had the plumber from the first visit call to yell at me and today the owner called to threaten taking me to court. She claims that no one told me it was considered warranty work (though she has no evidence of that and wasn't on the phone) and she claims that the plumber called me before going to the house (which I assume is that missed call I had). She claims that I owe this invoice, though I didn't ask for anyone to go to my house, but they did anyway, and then told me it was warrantied work.
She is threatening to put it on my credit, to take me to court, and even said she was going to call the Mesa police to arrest me for stealing services.
There's still a big hole in my wall that Javier said fit as if nothing happened (but then when I asked how I'm supposed to cover it, he told the office that he offered me to put a panel over it and I declined it based on price). Which seems more likely, (1) that he forgot to mention the panel, and I reached out a few months later to ask how they're supposed to be covered or (2) that I declined the panel and then reached out a few months later pretending not to know that they're covered by an access panel? -
I have had the opportunity to utilize J & H Plumbing multiple times, and have been extremely impressed by the quality of service and professionalism. I have had 3 different representatives from their company come and perform work in my home, and have always been pleased with their demeanor and knowledge. They are prompt, courteous, and very helpful. I feel that they are very fair in their costs, and each time have gone above and beyond just getting the job done. I will continue to call on them for my plumbing needs, and will also continue to recommend them to anyone and everyone I know that is in need of plumbing assistance.

UPDATE: I am happy to report that the owner of J&H Plumbing did call me as promised a couple days later (he had been out of town). He was very understanding of my complaint and offered to send me a check for the cost of one hour of labor ($95). I am very satisfied with this outcome and am pleased with this company and the workmanship.
On 2/22/16 I had a leak in my kitchen faucet which necessitated replacement so I called J&H Plumbing and described in detail what I wanted done. I needed the kitchen faucet removed and a new one installed and also wanted the shutoff valves under the kitchen sink replaced. I also needed the outside shutoff valve to the house replaced. I was quoted $95 an hour plus materials. The plumber was in the area so stopped by shortly after the phone call. I explained what I wanted done and he went out to turn off the water at the street and broke off the brass shut off handle so he was unable to turn off the water to the house. He called the city of Mesa and was told they would need to come and replace it so he left after being there 15 minutes. The city came out later that day and replaced the shut off handle. I called back to J&H to see if the plumber could come back and start the job but he was unavailable until the next morning. He returned on 2/23 and replaced the four items. After one hour and forty minutes he was finished and wrote up the paperwork for $387 dollars for labor and material. When I asked him to explain the high price, said he had to charge us a half an hour for the previous day when he broke the shut off handle. He couldn't itemize or explain the rest of the charges even though he wrote them up. I called the office and asked that the owner call me to explain the bill and he NEVER CALLED. I disputed the charge with someone in the office and no one returned my call after that. My advice to you is to look elsewhere for a fair and reasonably priced plumber. -
Are you the type of person that just wants the job done right? If so, you need to call J and L Plumbing.
Long story short, had a wax ring fail upstairs toilet that caused all kinds of damage. Paul arrived to see the problem was more intense than just a plumbing issue.
After all the non plumbing repairs, Paul returned to handle the plumbing portion. My wife and I felt very comfortable with his friendly attitude, honesty, knowledge base, and experience. This led us to have Paul replace all the toilets and wax rings, and all the supply lines and faucets in the entire house! He did an amazing job, and worked very hard. As he spent a few days with all the work, my kids were even excited to to see him! Anytime plumbing is brought up the kids say “better call Paul for that” it’s adorable!
To sum it up, Paul with J and L is our guy when it comes to plumbing. In my opinion, Paul is the best, and anyone that I talk to about plumbing, well his name comes up. We are for sure in his fan club! -
Just almost got hit by one of their vans. He crossed the line of the bike lane and came within a few inches of me. When we met at the light, he was still driving in the bike lane and texting on his phone. His mirror was held on with tape and zip ties, so this definitely isn't the first accident. I'll take this argument to other platforms if I have to. He would've been fined twice for public safety reasons if he were caught.

J&H did a great job hunting down repairing a slab leak at my elderly mothers home. The owner came over the morning they were going to fix the leak beneath the slab to make sure we were resolving the problem. We discussed several options and luckily the line that was leaking went to a hose bib, so the fix was easy without having to rip into the floor. The office staff was very understanding and also very helpful getting the plumbers over to diagnose the problem. I also thought the price was fair.
