I picked JJ Heating and Air Conditioning Co to replace my old HVAC system after carefully going through proposals from several other shops, because, from beginning to end they were very professional, honest, responsive and proactive in getting the job done.
Tommy provided several competing proposals to meet our needs, budget, without compromising quality and efficiency.
The day of the installation, David, Luis, Noah and Aaron did an excellent job. They completed the installation and setup in 7 hours and were very professional, explaining all the features and operational procedures in detail.
The new Trane A/C and Furnace system works great along with new Nest thermostat and air purification system.
One additional point; the labor warranty and maintenance package they provided is unmatched.

Had a wonderful experience with service including easy scheduling and sends email /text confirmation/notifications. We also had great experience with service rep who provided simple explanations of what is needed for our system to properly work without aggressive sales pitch! We are now having them do our yearly maintenance!

I have dealt with Aaron on 2 occasions. First deal on replacing the ducts on a rental property and the second time in a repair of an AC for a primary residence. Very reliable and trustworthy. Will recommend his services to my clients and friends in a heart beat.

Our AC stopped working and it happened during the hottest days recently. Our realtor reached out to JJ Heating & Air Conditioning and Daniel was at our house the next day! Customer service was very friendly and flexible with time. Daniel arrived on time wearing a mask being vaccinated. It took him 15 minutes to figure out the problem and solve it! It was magic and I called him magician Daniel ! He saved our health and the health of our fur baby who suffered in a very hot house. Kudos for the outstanding service and special kudos to Daniel, the magician! He was very professional, efficient, friendly and kind. We needed a new HVAC unit as I wanted to replace the gas furnace with a heat pump. At the end got a brand new heat pump plus a new higher capacity furnace and hopefully this will be far more efficient with heating and cooling and reducing gas bills. It was great to work with these guys - a+ service from the time I reached out for a quote to working with their payments team on adjustments and discounts. Stephen was a great comfort specialist (I learned that they are not called just 'sales' in HVAC) - incredibly responsive, patient and complete transparency throughout every step of the process. Aaron and Matteo came to install during the scheduled time, walked me through each step and even gave advice on how I can continue improving the air flow and increase the efficiency of my older home. All in all, a fantastic experience throughout - and this was my first major HVAC work done but I will highly recommend anyone looking for a good deal and good folks driving the business.

$175 to have an inexperienced tech com out and tell me there is a leak. He didn't look to pin point where the leak was and didn't repair it. Gave me a quote to replace the entire unit. Owner was very good and called me to discuss options as replacing such a new unit didn't sound correct. Big kudo's to him for looking into it. But, by then I had scheduled another company which came and did the repair which took 15 min plus time to recharge the compressor. The owner seemed very nice, but bottom line is it cost me $175 to have someone with no experience tell me I had a leak, which I already knew.

Follow Up Comment - As you can see from the owners response (see below) to the above initial comment by me, the is a professional who cares about his business and customers. It is rare you get a person who did what he did without asking in terms of calling me when he saw something that didn't seem right with the tech's initial visit and responding here the way he did. I would trust him with my future business even though the first time out wasn't perfect as he seems to care about his customers and clearly backs up his work. I wish more businesses were run by people like Aaron.

Updated: the VP eventually came with the crew and reinstalled the piping on the outside, so it looks professionally done.

JJ Heating and Air is one of the very few Mitsubishi certified contractors in my area, so I had only 3-4 options to choose from. I chose them because of good Yelp reviews, good warranty and immediate availability. The results were hit and miss. While I can hope that the technical setup of the equipment was done professionally and is covered by warranty backed by Mitsubishi, I cannot give the management of the project and the attention to the details more than D.

It started with the small detail and got worse and worse. They had to run the 220 v cable on the wall inside the house. I asked ahead of time whether I should get a channel to hide the cable inside. They assured me that the cable would be grey and would blend with the wall. Sure enough, cable was bright orange and the channel that I wisely purchased ahead of time just in case saved the day. However, their installation was sloppy. The photo showing the channel installed and the dings on the moldings made by the installer is attached.

The first crew that came do the installation was maskless (despite the stated policy), did not let me know where they would be drilling the walls so I could cover furniture, used my equipment without even asking my permission, left construction dust and trash on my furniture and in the open boxes that they did not move out of the way, and, the worst of it, they ran piping in a sloppy fashion, without any consideration for making the pipes less visible from the street, which is important to me due to the HOA restrictions.

They were supposed to return next day. I sent a letter to the management and refused to let them back into my house. The owner apologized and sent another crew. This crew was polite, more diligent with their work, re-did how the pipes were routed, but still left unfinished business behind. I had to hold off paying second half of the payment until it is fixed. After it was fixed, I reluctantly paid because JJ told me that inspection would not be scheduled unless I pay in full. I deeply regret doing so.

After I did some research, I realized that professional companies use very tidy vinyl channels that look elegant, but JJ uses shoddy square aluminum conduits that look ugly. I am going to paint them over after inspection, but make your own judgment whether it is going to make it any better. See attached photos comparing JJ work to what can be done. Judge by the photos I attached, they speak better than thousand words. I cringe each time I look at the conduit they put on top of the piping.

The equipment they install is probably going to work OK, but the look of it is horrible. It is right before my eyes on the deck each time I walk out.

I had to follow up several times on the city inspection, which was supposed to be completed within 2-4 weeks upon completion. It has been 2 months, JJ apparently did not submit correct information, and I am still waiting for the inspector.

After my 2.5 months of experience with JJ, I do not recommend them. I wish I had better things to say about them, but the facts and photos speak for themselves.

Highly recommend JJ for HVAC system installation and maintenance jobs. I had a requirement to replace my existing HVAC appliances. Aaron of JJ did the estimate, explained the work involved, set the right expectations and provided a quote which was within my budget. Andrew(s) started the work right on time and able to answer all my queries during the installation. Steve and Kelsey co-ordinated the process from the back office, also answered all my questions. The installation process had to continue on to the next week - JJ staffs co-ordinated well, finished the job on time and met my expectations. Given the successful installation and follow-up process of JJ, I went with them for my backyard gate installation and stucco work. hopefully will choose them for my bathroom remodeling jobs too.

My Tech Dominic was very professional and did a thorough job of inspecting my hvac system and provided me with great tips to help keep it running at maximum efficiency. Highly recommend this company.

J&J did an excellent job replacing our furnace on 3/23/2021. They arrived on time, wear masks, booties and were courteous. After the install, they test fired the system. Everything works the first time. They did a good job hauling the old unit and final cleanup. J&J throw in a pair of upgraded thermostats. They also re-leveled the drainage pipe for the AC and replaced the air filter at no extra cost. A little mix-up at the accounting department did not diminish the overall quality of the job. I would definitely recommend J&J.

Great experience with JJ Heating and AC. Steven Kobold who sold us the AC was knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. He wasn’t a pushy salesman, he took the time to sit with us and make sure we got the best option for our needs. David led the installation and everything happened without any issues. Enjoyed working with them and highly recommend for those in need of their services.

To LAMORINDA neighbors, if you are considering JJ Heating for your HVAC needs, pls read before deciding:

I made a huge and costly mistake going with JJ Heating & Air to install my new (over $25k) dual HVAC system just little over a year ago. I give credit that the system was installed expediently and had been working trouble free for the first year. Unfortunately, this year, my downstairs unit was not functioning. I called JJ, and a tech came out promptly to discover that rodents had chewed my thermostat communication wire (wire that runs from thermostat to AC unit). I painfully understand and accept that that was my problem responsibility. I paid JJ $1k to run a new wire and encase it in a protective conduit (as a naïve homeowner, I wrongly thought the company with its so-called expertise and experience would have advised on how to better protect the wire full well knowing during installation there was rodent damage to the ducts; but again, I take full responsibility for not being more knowledgeable).

However, next thing JJ tells me is that I need a new $875 thermostat and replacement of 3 electronic boards shorted by rodents chewing wire connecting thermostat to the AC unit all totaling additional $2,400 incl labor and all outside of warranty because rodent damage is not covered. To clarify, the rodents did not get to any of the components. This would seem to me like if I inadvertently damaged the wire between my cable box and my TV then both cable box and TV would sustain damage. Again, I understand natural disasters are not covered under warranty; however, how do I know the damage was not caused by the re-wiring of the new thermostat wire or if damage was pre-existing? Also, how does JJ know the expensive thermostat AND every other electronic board would also needed replacing? I personally called the Daikin AC manufacturer directly to better understand their warranty process and was informed that the installer would need to bring "damaged" components to a certified distributor and then file a warranty claim. Well, this apparently was not done in my case...only assumption that if the customer buys all brand new guts it will work again.

I have been trying to talk to someone at JJ who could explain to me how/why the equipment was failing and why the warranty was so quickly dismissed, automatically assuming that the wire damage blew everything else out. No call back ...but funny, I get the $$$ estimate dated the day after tech visit requesting my approval for the work to be performed when you have not even fully verified that every electronic component has failed, including the expensive thermostat.

I read an earlier review from a customer who gave 5 stars for installation and qualified that the positive review was perhaps pending to be updated based upon any service issue. Beware! I agree with the good install part but can sadly say that the company DOES NOT HAVE YOUR BACK and only seems to want your wallet. This "wallet" part may not be completely fair, but the "back" part sure seems to be. The people there seem generally friendly but now appear more smiling faces ready to stick you given the opportunity.

The company will likely rebut that this review comes from an unhappy customer and that rodent damage is beyond their control, which are both true. But, apparently they did not even attempt to help me to honor the so called 10 year warranty protection.

As of this writing, I have been down for 20 days....so obviously I am not a priority.

I take valuable time to share my experience here to document my trials, help someone else that may be evaluating install of new HVAC system, and perhaps receive a little hard to get attention. I am more than willing to take down this review when I have received a complete understanding why every component has failed as a result of the wire damage and why no real attempt was made to make a warranty claim. If the fault is my own, then I will own it. The length of this review reflects my frustration with JJ.

I am extremely pleased with the service I received from this company. They were on time, professional, and did not push any unnecessary repairs on me. The technician spent a significant amount of time conducting diagnostics and providing me with valuable information. I highly recommend their services!

Dan was my technician. He did a thorough job measuring my house to make sure the right size of heat pump. He also provided me a few options to select and answered my questions with broad knowledge of the AC and heat pumps, and their peripherals.

Dominic arrived to do the initial diagnostic check. He was very thorough and let us know the root cause. He made calls to rheem and gave us an estimate of cost and time for the replacing the repair and allowed us to decide without any pressure.

We had one of the most professional and efficient teams of installers we have ever had the pleasure of doing business with. Joaquin, Jonathan, Kevin, and Noah installed the AC system at our home. We had to make a change in the AC, as the one originally ordered would not fit where we wanted it to go. The lead installer Joaquin was on the phone immediately with the office and we were able to make a switch. Another installer went to pick up the new AC, and we did not lose the installation day. They were on time, covered our floors, answered any questions and left our home as they found it. The company as a whole from our salesman Tommy to

Very professional service. We went without having a properly working heater & AC for a number of years. Finally, when our heater and furnace completely stopped working, we called JJ Heating and Air Conditioning. They were able to visit our home the next day. Within 15-30 minutes they had the furnace working as it should. Fortunately they had the replacement parts that were needed on hand.

Now our heater and AC work like they should. We can finally set our thermostat and keep our home a desirable temperature! We're very, very happy and highly recommend JJ Heating and Air Conditioning.

We had the pleasure of working with Oscar (dispatch) and Sabino (technician). They are both great, easy to communicate with and reliable. Sabino was always on time to the appointments and knowledgeable about the furnace system. We certainly recommend them if you need to repair or service your heating or AC systems.
