What a wonderful experience we had! Never thought I would say that when it comes to construction. David did an outstanding job for us. We were located out of state while entrusting then to build out our basement. They were so easy to work with. They don’t cut corners and work efficiently the entire time. These photos were taken during the process, not at the finish. But it shows how clean they work, and how beautiful their craft is!

Sheffield homes finished our basement about a year back. I cannot say enough about them! They are simply fabulous. From Darren kicking off the project with us, to Jeff project managing it, to Jason meeting and exceeding all the warranty needs, they are stellar! And that’s not all - there were many others involved like Nicole and they were all FAB! Our basement was finished very quickly and looks impeccable. We get a lot of compliments! They also finished our laundry room sink and cabinets.
In addition, we had a leak spring up and even though it may not have been Sheffield’s fault, no questions asked, Jason fixed it for us!!!

Thank you for everything Sheffield Homes!!!

Highly highly recommend them for your basement and building needs!

Much appreciated by Meena and Krish - the Krishnans 🙂

Sheffield Homes Finished Basements & More was always working to make sure I was involved. They give you access to this portal that kept me up to date on the schedules and easily kept track of communication, which I loved. As you can guess knowing when thing are happening and progress is so important. I choose them out of 3 bids because of the professional the presented and fair proposal they gave me. I especially like how they handled the permit process and all the hurdles they had to go thru during the Corvid slow downs and city offices closed. Their crews were respectful and did all they could to keep the constriction fallout to
a minimum. On many occasions Jason and David worked with me on changes and adjustments and they gave me their professional opinion, pros and cons of the changes. I told them a few time " I choose the right builder but the wrong finance company. I would chose them again in a heartbeat highly recommended.

    A Deeply Disappointing Experience

I contracted Sheffield Homes to finish my basement, hoping for a seamless and professional experience. Unfortunately, the outcome was extremely disappointing. The severity of the issues encountered compels me to share my experience so that others can be fully informed before making a decision.

    Initial Communication and Coordination

At the outset, the communication with David Lewis was promising. He seemed genuinely interested in understanding our vision. However, as the project progressed, numerous issues surfaced. This initial positive impression quickly deteriorated as the project continued to be delayed, and the problems became more significant.

    Issues with Design and Execution

The final build deviated notably from the originally designed floor plan. Our goal was to maximize our living area, but the design flaws led to a less functional space. They installed our outlets wrong. We specifically requested that they match the height of those in the rest of the house, but they did not adhere to this request and installed them too high.

    Quality of Fixtures and Finishes

The quality of the fixtures and finishes was subpar. The bathroom mirror was measured wrong and installed incorrectly. The bathroom sink faucet was problematic in multiple ways: the stopper was improperly installed and couldn’t be controlled, and the faucet itself was off-center and crooked. Additionally, they installed the wrong shower tiles, which was a significant oversight.

A square pillar they installed ended up warped, requiring extensive back-and-forth before they finally agreed to fix it. Even then, the resolution process was unnecessarily drawn out. Light switches were another area of concern; they couldn't properly match them with the rest of the house, leaving me to fix several myself.

    Damage and Negligence

During construction, constantly made a mess in our yard. they damaged a window screen we had stored in a safe area. Despite our precautions, their workers negligently broke it while moving heavy items. This incident reflects a broader pattern of carelessness and lack of respect for our property.

The HVAC Vent Issue: A Major Problem

The most distressing issue arose with the HVAC system. During their work, they somehow compromised the existing vents, resulting in a loud creaking sound whenever the heating system runs. This sound, occurring every 4-5 seconds, is unbearably disruptive, especially as it emanates from a vent right above our living room. Despite multiple attempts to resolve this with Sheffield Homes, they continually assured us it was fixed when it wasn't. As the weather warmed and we stopped using the heat, the issue temporarily subsided, only to return with the colder weather. They promised they'll come back to fix it, but lied to us and ended up never fixing the problem.

    Unacceptable Response and Unprofessional Behavior

The lack of responsiveness and professionalism from Sheffield Homes has been incredibly frustrating. They dragged their feet, were slow to communicate, and took months to respond. After nearly two years of this ordeal, they effectively ceased communication. A particularly egregious moment was when Asia Villalva, whom I can only describe as a professional gaslighter, stood in our basement and insisted there was no issue while the creaking sound was clearly audible. Another employee, Jeff Thomson, even acknowledged that Sheffield was at fault, yet there has been no action to date.

    Final Thoughts

I would have been willing to pay extra to resolve these issues, but all Sheffield Homes did was dismiss my concerns and gaslight me. Their work quality is abysmal, and their employees are rude and unprofessional. They left us with a poorly finished basement and a significant HVAC issue that has been an ongoing source of stress and frustration.

I strongly advise anyone considering Sheffield Homes to reconsider. The experience has been nothing short of a nightmare, and I cannot, in good conscience, recommend their services to anyone.

Sheffield Homes is fantastic to work with. As a photographer, I’ve had the pleasure of capturing their projects, and their craftsmanship, communication, and professionalism always stand out. Truly a top-tier builder I’m proud to recommend.

Finishing the basement was a daunting process for me. Besides purchasing my home, it was the largest financial investment I have made. I spent significant time researching possible basement finishing companies and getting quotes. I am so pleased I decided to go with Sheffield Homes. They were reasonably priced, did beautiful work, and finished the project on time for exactly the price they quoted me (besides the modest upgrades I chose). The workers were respectful, came in and out of a basement window, and used the porta-potty they set up outside our home. The project manager was a dream to work with! He was the model of patience. When I mentioned a few things I felt were not completed to my satisfaction, they fixed them promptly. I have significantly added the square footage of my home and have made it easier to sell later. I highly recommend Sheffield Homes for your basement refinishing project.

Sheffield basements was a perfect fit for our basement finishing project. Everything flowed seamlessley from the initial basement walk to the final inspection and punch list. Schedules were met or exceeded during the whole process and communication was excellent. In addition to livable space we wanted a home theater that was open, yet accoustically functional, and found working with them and their preferred audio visual contractor to be a seamless process. We now find every excuse to spend time in the basement while catching up on great movies. I would definitely recommend using the Sheffield team for your basement project.

We cannot say enough positive comments to adequately express our appreciation for a job well done and the professionalism demonstrated by the Sheffield Homes Finished Basement team. Our first encountered started with David Lewis sharing with us all of the product line available to use if we should choose to utilize Shefflied Homes Finished Basements. David did a masterful job of sharing ideas for our basement finish and the myriad of available options. We had received a total of 5 bids from other companies and we decided to choose Sheffield due to presentation, availability, pricing and testimony of prior customers. David assisted us in developing the design of our finished basement and made very appropriate suggestions that have only increased the experience. He provided a specific timeline for completion and introduced us to our project manager, Jason Klein. At this point, Jason took over as our primary contact and with few minor glitches, followed the construction timeline to perfection. Jason helped us stay on track, even though the mentioned glitches were due to my error giving an incorrect color code for the paint, we had to repaint the entire space. Every one of the professionals that came onto our property did an excellent job and the quality of craftmanship is outstanding. We finished over 1800 square feet with granite, carpet and tile and could not be more pleased with the end result. I have built and sold three rehab businesses in my years of professional life and am building a fourth business along side my daughter and son-in-law, for us, everything is about customer service, excellence, and unmatched quality. I think I may have taken lessons from Sheffield Homes when all was said and job. Thank you all for the magnificent job well done. Enjoy the pictures and please know we are finishing with additional furniture on order and Roman Shade window dressings...Carol and Rocky...

My husband and I decided to finish our basement to add square footage and rooms without having to enter this crazy housing market, and it was one of the best decisions we've made. We met with several companies, but after meeting with David, Sheffield was the clear choice. The pricing was straight forward with no hidden fees. The only additional costs were things we selected and the associated costs were provided in order to make those decisions. The design center was easy to work with and very helpful in making our selections. Our project started on time, and finished on time and un budget, which is unheard of in this day and age. There were some bumps along the way, but our project manager Felipe was great at communicating and answering all of our questions. He kept the subcontractors on track while maintaining the quality of the work. Our overall experience was great, and we like our basement better than the rest of the house. Highly recommend this group for any of your building needs.

We selected Sheffield Homes to finish our large basement because of their professional approach and very helpful ideas and suggestions during the bidding process. Their professionalism and craftmanship is unmatched. They established a timeline and stayed on track for the entire process. Their communication and responsiveness during the process was extremely good and they utilize the Co-Construct app so you always know where you are and what construction stage is coming up. Our finished basement now has a beautiful bar area with wet bar, a fireplace, family area, exercise area, full bath and office area. I've always wanted a cool home bar and ended up with a fantastic home sports bar! We couldn't be happier with the finished product and strongly recommend Sheffield Homes, they made the entire process easy and fun.

This last year my husband and I decided to finish our basement. We shopped around quite a bit and asked neighbors and friends about companies who finished their basements. We decided to go with Sheffield after meeting with David because of their honest business model. The process from beginning to end was extremely easy for the homeowners, us. They had a project manager, Felipe-so easy to work with, who took care of any questions we had and made sure the permits were pulled and every aspect was to code; they had professional contractors who were always respectful in our home; they had a design center from where to chose our interior look; and they had an easy to read online system, so I could see where we were in the project. The end result receives compliments by everyone!

As a Marshall fire survivor, I am so happy to work with Sheffield. The pre-contruction preparation took about one year, but Sheffield managed the house rebuild in 10 months with great condition. Nicole and Jason are great to work with. They certainly addressed our concerns and questions during/after the construction in a time manner. We have been back home about an year, we didn't see any significant problem of the house.

    I highly recommend Sheffield.

We contracted Sheffield to rebuild our home after the Marshall Fire. This is the only scenario where we would have built a custom home, and it was complex under the circumstances, but we are very happy with the final result

Sheffield worked with us to build a custom home with features we have never had previously and we are happy with the design, quality, features, and finishes in our new. The foremen we worked with were outstanding and very customer focused (Lee and Felipe). We appreciated the advice and insights as we navigated both the design and build process. Mariana was a great project manager and we appreciate the the cost consciousness and willingness to manage trade-space on cost and design as we weighed various design options.

Overall our experience with Sheffield was a positive one and we have a beautiful home.

We hired Sheffield Homes and Basements to finish our basement, adding 1900 sq ft of finished space. From start to finish they did a fantastic job. The proposal was presented by Darrin, and once construction started it was orchestrated expertly by our supervisor Jim. He went above and beyond expectations throughout the project which was completed ahead of schedule. The weekly updates and pictures on the dedicated website were very helpful. The subcontractors were very professional and did a great job. We did have a few change orders, which is to be expected as the project progressed, and these were added seamlessly.
Overall the project exceeded our expectations in almost every way and we would highly recommend Sheffield without reservation.

They remodel my entire house with modern finish product and now my old house looks fantastic, my husband and I are very happy with their work, highly recommend.

A family member recommended this company to do some work at my house (drywall patching, entrance door framing, electrical job) I'm very happy with the excellent job they did & I would definitely hire them again as well recommend them to anyone!

Was excited that we had met a very transparent contractor willing to help us through our bathroom renovation project ($30k+). Unfortunately, as soon as we signed and gave a deposit, the assistance stopped and Jim started pushing a different schedule due to another job being delayed. According to my wife, Jim seemed annoyed by any questions that contradicted his plan (not ours). Fortunately, after a week Jim sent an email saying they were terminating the contract. I felt that was a fairly low integrity move from this company but probably the best course of action as we had lost confidence in their customer service desire. Honestly, I believe he thought this was an easy dollar, realized it wasn't, and just replaced us with a more profitable job. Seemed like a decent guy, but I wouldn't attempt to work with SCS, Inc again.

I hired SCS Inc. to remodel an old apartment building with 4 units. The wiring was bad and the plumbing needed work. There were many problems with the building and the permits and Jim worked with me on all of them. He was always available and tackled the problems and saw them through to completion. He combined two of the units into a two bedroom apartment and I am very pleased with the results. Jim was very professional and easy to work with. He and his workers were always pleasant and courteous and gave me the best products while staying in budget and good advice on what would work and what wouldn't work. I would recommend him to my friends and would hire him for any future work.
