Matt with Hughes Landscaping is one of the most dyed-in-the-wool professionals I think I may have ever met. Extremely knowledgeable, efficient, does great work, provides excellent customer service, and just a cool individual overall. We cannot recommend him highly enough and look forward to working with him again!

Before I started to use Hughes Landscaping my grass was brown with big areas of no grass at all. Now, I have been using Hughes Landscaping for about 5 years now. I get compliments from my neighbors and guests on how wonderful my yard looks. Hughes has completely turned my once low class yard to a beautiful, healthy looking yard. The gentleman who mows my grass is very friendly and does an amazing job too! I highly recommend Hughes Landscaping!

Matt and his team did a solid job replacing the mulch/rocks, adding new plants and redoing my drip system. They also returned to reinforce the work by raising a sprinkler head and adding some extra rock to tie it all in. Matt is easy to work with and adds excellent customer service. I look forward to another project in the future.

Gave them a chance to fix it but no call back- Now I have another company coming to fix the mess.

Paid $3-4,000 to extend gutter drains with corrugated pipe. Winter comes and they froze solid. Called and was told since it was out of warranty I could pay for labor and they would pick up the plastic pipe cost. Argued that based on spending so much on drainage they should stand behind their work. Even gave a good review to hopefully get them out to fix. They came out and terminated several freezing pipes just under the decorative rock border. I paid for runs 20 feet long and got something I could have done with a shovel.

As more froze I kept calling. What takes the cake is they “fixed” the only 2 that were not frozen. The fix was to dig a 12 inch by 12 inch hole and cut the pipe. Wonder what happens once that fills up with water and freezes??

Already have another company on the way. Don’t bother responding with excuses… I called and left a message for SH who was “out in the yard” earlier this week. No call back.

Last week I made a plan with Matt Akabane from Hughes Landscaping to come to our home for a consultation.  We have an unsightly, defunct utility meter on the wall of our back patio that we want to screen and have been at a loss for what plants would work in that location.  Before jumping in with suggestions, Matt took the time to ask questions about what I wanted to accomplish and what my own vision was for that spot. I told him I wanted something that would look beautiful year-round, screen the meter completely, harmonize with our existing plantings, and survive in that location in our garden.  Bonus if they also attract songbirds, hummingbirds, and other pollinators! Matt understands the challenges that gardening in Colorado poses to a Pacific Northwesterner like me  -- so many of the plants I know from the PNW won’t survive in this climate, soils, and elevation.

Matt is a great listener and had a bunch of ideas for plants that would make great screens and complement the existing shrubs along that wall. He suggested we hop in our cars and take a field trip to a local nursery so that I could see all the plants with my own eyes and better imagine how they’d look in our space.  It was a great experience!  I got to see specimens of all the plants Matt suggested and play with different designs and possible combinations. I asked a ton of questions which Matt answered with ease. His enthusiasm for landscaping and passion for plants is contagious!

I now have 3 different possible designs that my husband and I are considering before we make our final selection.  I especially appreciated that Matt brought as much joy and thoughtful attention to our little project as I’ve seen him bring to much bigger landscape designs at the homes of friends.  I highly recommend working with Matt Akabane and Hughes Landscaping!

The crew recently completed doing a complete xeriscape of my property. The job took several days at the end of each day the crew did an excellent job of cleaning up.They did excellent work on the project. Antonio and Matt were always available to answer any questions I had and always gave me an honest and detailed response. I’m very happy with my project and would certainly recommend Hughes Landscaping if anybody has needs for their service.

Sam and his team were always on time. I replaced a retaining wall and I'm very happy with the outcome. It took an extra day due to the delivery of the wall product. Anything I questioned was taken care off. Thank you Hughes Landscaping!

Matt and his team did a great job landscaping and installing g a dripline system in our backyard. Matt programmed our sprinkler system and his team were quick and efficient and cleaned up before they left. Our yard looks great! I have used Hughes for our sprinkler system needs for years and will continue to do so.

The free consultation went well and determining the scope of the work was easy. It was simple to communicate a small change before work began. Matt Akabane and his team did a great job for us. The project was to prep the area under our driveway grate and then create a dry creek to allow water to flow naturally through. What we received was exactly what Matt explained to me in our first meeting. Maybe a little more. I am grateful for them getting this done before winter.

We knew we wanted stairs built on the slope going down from our garage to the grass. Matt came over and explained what he could do and gave us some options. Matt's crew, lead by Gonzalo executed the plan perfectly. We were extremely happy with their work and how quickly it was completed. Matt followed up after completion to make sure we were satisfied and we greatly appreciated that.

Staff did an outstanding job with trimming down bushes in yard and around dome if the trees. Also regrouted around flagstones on front porch. Were willing to do additional project of cleaning up along the road and fence line.

Shout out to Matt and crew! Matt showed up on time to review our commercial project. When the cost came back a little higher than anticipated, he worked with us to get the project in budget. The crew showed up on time and did an amazing job. i appreciate that Matt was there in the morning to review the project, then throughout the day checking on the project. Matt and the Hughes team did a fantastic job with the front entrance and open space projects. Our HOA was in need of a significant upgrade at our entrance. Matt made a few visits to understand our objectives and budget. He was very accommodating as our board weighed the different options.

Matt was great in helping us finish our last landscape project. He listened to our wants and provided us with options that would meet our areas needs. Always prompt and professional. The installation crew lead by Gonzalo did a fantastic job completing our project in the time we were told. I appreciate how neat they kept the project area and the final cleanup left nothing laying around.
