Reviews of local pros in Mt Prospect, Illinois

I saw your ad on Facebook for the $139 video of my main sewer line and due to the fact that my neighbor just experienced having his entire basement flooded with raw sewage and seen the hell he went through due to a backed up sewer main I figured it was worth the reassurance by spending $139. Thank God… by taking that gut check and getting Ken (AKA Boomer) out to video my sewer as 20’ foot outside of my foundation wall he found a collapsed pipe. Not only did he find this issue but the technology they had actually located The exact spot of the break on the exterior of my house, but also the depth at which the sewer line was located. He also found a “Y”in the existing sewer line that I did not know was there That explained a second issue that I was having with my kitchen sink and dishwasher drain. Within 30 minutes, not only did he find these issues, but also generated two proposals as he came up with two means and methods of repairing these issues to allow options for these repairs. I’ve spent 30 years as a general superintendent for extremely large commercial projects and since retired And only mentioning this to validate my review, as I am “OVER THE TOP” impressed with the express service, technology, and most important the personalization that I felt working with not only Ken, but also the entire process of getting this scheduled and the ease of doing such. I look forward to working with them to resolve my issue and will definitely follow up with the final review but so far cannot say enough and feel like I found that old school company that has welcomed the newest technology!

Fast, professional and courteous service.
Honest estimates with budget mindful options. John completed the repair in a clean and orderly manner. Would definitely use Intelligent Service again. -
Intelligent service went well beyond expectations. They came early, was able to replace the water heater in record time at a fair price. I would highly recommend using them for any plumbing repairs.

We started having problems with our furnace last winter, so when our AC started acting up, We knew it was time to replace them. We called Intelligent and had someone out the next day, Friday. By Wednesday, we were getting a whole new HVAC system installed. Trevor and Cameron were professional, respectful and very knowledgeable, answering any questions we had in detail. The whole process from the initial phone call to installation honestly could not have been easier. Great service and great products at a great price!

My initial call to Intelligent Service was handled promptly and professionally. The technician James Sima went above and beyond to identify and fix our problem. James did an outstanding job. After the toilet installation our home was left clean.

Neal was great and talked me through every step of the process. I actually used them as a second opinion on some sewer work that needed to be done, and they came in at a fraction of the price of the other quote I got. They also did not need to dig nearly as much as the other quote I got, so I would strongly recommend using Intelligent over some other companies. They were also happy to provide videos of all the work they did, which was very helpful. Thanks!

I had a major plumbing problem in March of this year but the guys at Intelligent Plumbing settled me down and started to repair and correct the issue. They were a great bunch of workers and always left a clean work space. I highly recommend this company.

My agent Kenneth Strohman was very professional he explained vary clear how he would do the job.
We were very happy with the results.
After one year we got a free inspection of the work.
Me and Mary would recommend intelligent service to everyone. -
Felix Gonzalez was prompt, courteous and professional. His expertise with boiler heating systems is impressive. I’ve used ABC and Ibottson but never received a comprehensive inspection like Felix conducted for Intelligent Service! I have also benefited from their plumbing, water heater, and A/C services.

I found Jack the plumber to be quite personable and easy to talk to. He was timely and quick to fix my plumbing issue. He even gave suggestions on things I needed to address but didn't want to fix at the time. He did more than fix my problem. He helped me. I would definitely work with intelligent plumbing again.

I called because they said they repaired garbage disposals on the link I clicked… I had a broken seal on my garbage disposal connecting to the sink line and they wanted to charge me at the very least over $1000 to replace the entire garbage disposal. they told me they don’t replace seals and I should call a handyman for that. So they charged me $50 for a guy to come out 5 hours after the scheduled time (9am) to tell me either call a handyman or cough up between 1000-1800 bucks for a new garbage disposal all together. Ridiculous.

I've been working with Intelligent Service ("IS") for over 10+ years—always professional, always reasonable, and always quality work. Recently, I had IS address a toilet issue (cracked flange) at a property that was under contract. I needed a quick response and minimal cleanup. IS was there the next day, and the repair was done by midday. Super clean and super responsive. IS remains my go-to for plumbing and HVAC.

I have had Intelligent Service do plumbing and HVAC work on my home the last 2 years and they have done fantastic work. I especially recommend John for any plumbing needs. I did want them to install a mini split system in my garage but unfortunately their price was a bit on the high side. I will still use them for and future HVAC maintenance or plumbing needs in the future, however.

We were treated with kindness and respect from our initial calls to request service to their technician John, who performed the work to our satisfaction. We have used Intelligent Service a number of times and will continue to do so as the needs arise. We highly recommend this company!

Our sump pump had quit working. We called Intelligent Services at 5:30pm and they set us up for an appointment the next day. Jonathan was our service technician. He had me walk him through what we’d been seeing. After he spent a bit of time going over codes and what id described he came up with a solution to fix our sump pump and battery that had both quit working. He gave me several options for a fix at multiple price points. We did add on their Service Club which gives us a furnace tune up, an AC tune up and free service calls for a year, as well as extends our warranty from 1 to 3 years. I was pleased with our service and would not hesitate to use Intelligent again.

Intelligent service sent John over to fix my bathroom sink, and he was awesome. Very friendly, and got the work done quickly. The price was very fair compared to other companies that I looked into. I would definitely recommend using Intelligent service, it's a great company.

I just had my drain cleaned, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience! The team was not only super friendly but also completed the job in record time. I appreciated that there were no unexpected price changes when they arrived. I wholeheartedly recommend their services and would definitely use them again!

Intelligent is a great and honest business to get the work done you need. They care about the customer, do the work that is NECESSARY, and do great work. Shout out to Jason K. for the work he did, and setting our home up for future success.
Highly recommend this company. The work is excellent! The people are extraordinary!! -
I had a cracked pipe and called intelligent they came over the next day early. Got the job done and made sure my pipe was no longer leaking. It was a very easy simple fix I would have done it myself but being a woman, I did not know how. He took the time to make sure the job was done right and would not have any more problems. But it cost me nearly 600,00 and that was with a 5% senior discount which most places offer a 10% and I later found out you can buy the plastic pipe for 12.95 at Menards Not so intelligent on my part look around and check prices plumbers are a dime a dozen I used them because they were down the street from me. needless to say, I will not ever use this overpriced, greedy company again. Hey, we all need money to live, but so do I intelligent plumbing!!!!

A major sewer line problem was discovered by a different plumbing service which pushed to quickly for commitment. In looking for another option and quote I called Intelligent Service seeing good reviews in the Best Buy Reports for our community.
I was impressed with the approach that was proposed which was innovative vs. the other option, cost less, and solved the major issue directly.
I committed to the project and the work was started within a few days, permit set, inspection set, county and sewer line owner (American Water) approvals all set.
The work was completed as proposed, the work done was excellent, the new inside piping works and looks great and the sewer line new lining (video provided) solves our issues.
All work was done cleanly, professionally and on time - even though it was near freezing the day of the last step.
Highly recommend giving the a call. -
(Updated June 30, 2025)
The initial service temporarily fixed the issue, but the same problem came back in less than 45 days. I was disappointed that such a costly service didn’t provide a long-term solution.
After I updated my Google review and filed a complaint with the BBB, the company did send the same technician back to follow up, which I appreciate. He performed another round of rodding, but nothing was removed from the line. Unfortunately, nothing was cleared during the second visit either, and the root issue remains unresolved. The technician repeatedly mentioned that because my cleanout is located indoors, his rodding equipment couldn’t reach the clogged area, which he estimated to be about 50 to 60 feet out.
If you’re considering this company, make sure they clearly explain their limitations upfront—especially if your cleanout is indoors—and get written confirmation of what the service will actually address.
Update – June 30, 2025:
I’m sharing this as a warning for others considering this company for sewer services. I had my main sewer line “cleaned” by this company on May 19, 2025. It cost me $678 in total for electric snake rodding and a camera inspection. I was told the job was complete and that my line was in working condition.
Less than two months later, my main drain is completely backed up again. This strongly suggests the job was either not done thoroughly or the underlying issue was never truly addressed.
What’s more frustrating is that although the company publicly responded to another review three weeks ago with an apology for lack of follow-up—I have received no actual contact or resolution from them either, despite a very similar experience.
I expected professional service, root removal, and a reliable inspection. Instead, I got a rushed visit, no clear report of what the camera showed, and no explanation of whether the cleaning reached the city sewer line.
This kind of problem should not recur so quickly if the job was done correctly. I now need to hire a second company for camera verification and potentially start all over again.
To other homeowners:
Please insist on:
• Seeing the full camera footage
• Written confirmation that the entire sewer line (up to the city main) was cleared
• A clear diagnosis of the cause (roots, damage, etc.)
• Knowing if hydrojetting or cleanout access is recommended
This experience has cost me money, time, and frustration. I hope this helps others make a more informed decision.
I chose Intelligent Service because of their strong reviews and expected professional service. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing both in terms of service quality and follow-up.
I originally scheduled a $129 camera inspection. However, based on the technician’s advice — that 95% of blockages are caused by tree roots and the camera might not see anything if not cleaned first — I agreed to proceed with a $549 main pipe cleaning.
They only did one quick pass with the electric snake and removed a small bundle of roots (see photo). Afterward, the camera inspection clearly showed two sections with heavy root blockages still inside the pipe, including one around the 50-foot mark. Despite this, no additional cleaning was performed.
I submitted my concerns through their official feedback system, explaining that I was worried the incomplete cleaning would lead to another blockage soon. I didn’t ask for compensation — just an explanation or clarification. They sent me one generic, automated message in response, and after that, I never heard from them again. No follow-up, no contact, and no effort to address the issue.
While my washer hasn’t backed up again yet, I’m concerned the roots left behind will cause the problem to return soon. I paid $678 expecting a thorough and professional service, but instead, I received rushed work and zero customer care afterward.
