Plumbing reviews in Indianapolis, Indiana

I have no idea how this guy has any positive reviews.
Came out to my house on Saturday, very responsive and ready to roll. I was really happy he could make it out same day. He went on about his being 64 years old and doing this since he was 16, elaborating about his extensive experience.
Upon arrival, he had his assistant put a multi-meter on my well switch, who confirmed voltage. He immediately told me that I had a well from back in his day.
He asked me a few leading questions "Do you know how old this house is?" and "How long have you lived here?"
I took him out to the well, opened up the cover, and he looked at it and said "Wow haven't seen one like this in a while" He then told me I had push, but no lift. I asked what does that mean, and he said "Your pump is going out." He told me there are 2 phases, and 1 isn't working. "I don't need to take your money" for some reason he repeated twice.
I led him back to the house where my wife was. I asked him again, "Can you explain again what's going on with the well?" and he exclaimed "I just told you!" I responded to him that I troubleshoot things for a living and I saw no deductive steps to reach that conclusion, I'd just like a little more explanation. He declared "I have excellent reviews, I've been doing this for years!!", "I don't need to take your money.", "I've been doing this long enough to know!"
It was very awkward at this point, I'm very non-confrontational, but I said "I think we're done I think you need to leave now." His helper immediately packed up and left (I think this happens a lot?) He would not leave. I had to ask him to leave 3 additional times while he went on standing in the doorway about how everyone else was going to rip me off and I've only got 5 companies to pick from and he's got the best reviews.
He finally left. My wife thanked me, and let me know he had been really rude when she answered the front door.
I then called a competitor. He had me take some basic steps. Check the gauge. Open a faucet until the problem arose, check the gauge again. He then over the phone diagnosed a clogged sediment filter. I changed it out while we were on the phone, and voila, problem solved.
After the fix, I told a big story about the guy who just came out while we waited to make sure it stayed working. He responded "Let me guess, he's from J&L, Lonnie" and I answered "I don't know, I didn't get his name, but that's definitely the company"
While we scheduled a cleaning service, the competitor I called said he fields service phone calls all weekend from people like me who have catastrophic well problems they need a second opinion on, only like me to find out they were almost bamboozled.
J&L Tried calling me back, but I texted them and let them know it was just a sediment filter.
This dude was seriously going to sell me a new pump, without doing any deduction of the problem, when all I had was a clogged sediment filter. -
You will not find a more knowledgeable or experienced well contractor in Indianapolis. These guys know wells inside and out. It’s a very scary feeling when your water goes out, but as soon as I called J and L, I knew I was in good hands. They responded immediately, got the job done in lightning fast time, and followed up to make sure everything was working for me. I highly recommend them.

Leon came out to fix my well that stopped working. It was an old well dug in 1939 evident from the paperwork I got with the house. Turns out it was Leon's grandfather that did it. I gave him the paperwork from 1939 and he said he was going to frame it!!!! Anyways he did an excellent job. Because it was so old it got stuck many times, and as a result many lesser people/companies would have gave up and advised to dig a new well. They got it out after a couple days and the well is working perfectly. He said it is a well built well and should last another 80 years! Pricing was extremely fair and the education was invaluable. Thank you LEON!!!

Lost all water pressure over the Thanksgiving holiday. Leon and Roger came out that same evening and replaced the well pump switch so I got my water back. I also needed a new well pump (the one I had was probably the original from when the house was built.) These guys are super helpful, dependable, polite and the price was right! Good old-fashioned pride in doing the job right! Can't say enough!

Leon and his crew with J&L repaired two wells in Hendricks county and got them going for me. They are very knowledgeable and taught me how wells work and what things to look for in the future before pump failure. Leon always stayed in contact the whole time and after they were done to make sure were taken care of.

We had very low Pressure Leon came out on a Sunday gave a quick estimate treated the well that day and came out the next day to replace the well pump and pressure tank and we had great running water before lunchtime. If you need well service in Franklin give them a call.

It was freezing and we had no water. We called a few places but just didn't get a good feel. Most places acted like they were doing you a favor to provide service. When we called J&L there was definitely a different feel. They actually did troubleshooting on the phone with us! These guys are the real deal. They will take you through the process and you will end up being a satisfied customers. They know their stuff! It feels good to know we have a company we can rely on and if we or anyone else has this type of problem this is who we will recommend.

They came out two weeks ago. J&L was recomended by a friend. Leon was very helpful and friendly. My family and I are so pleased with the water pressure. They are reasonably priced and had us going the same day. Everyone should use J&L for their well work.

Do not use these guys. They came out replaced my well pump. All was good. Then a week later our yard was saturated, water in the pump area and pump kept clicking on. Called Leon and he told me it was not his problem, they didn’t cause this problem and hung up on me. Absolutely horrible!!

Leon was very nice and helpful. My well pump went out and he came out the same day and took care of the issue. He went above and beyond to make sure I understood what he was doing and was affordable also. I would definitely recommend this business to anyone needing well service!

Our house is really old. When our water suddenly stopped working we called these guys. They were great and helped and explained to us what was going on, what needed to be done and why. I know we got a great because our neighbors were surprised at everything they did for that price. We have lived in our house since 1984 and the water pressure has never ever been this great. This is not our first pump either. Thank you so much J&L for doing such a fabulous job! God Bless!

J&L well service is phenomenal. They serviced my well and replaced an old and broken pump at a very fair price. When they say they'll be there, they will be there... and probably early! After I had an issue (an electrician messed up) they came back and resolved it and didn't even charge for it. Without a doubt, I would not use anyone else to service my well. Seriously, use these guys if you have any issue with your well.

Called them as emergency with no water. He said he would come between 9 and 10. Did not show up, when called he denied he said it. Moved appointment to 11 the called to say 3. Never showed called him and texted him with no response. There are no hotels available due to eclipse so I can't get anyone until Tuesday now. Don't call this company please.

Our well was hit by lightning, Leon came right out and assessed what needed to be done. He replaced the pump, wire into the house and pressure tank switch. He explained everything and helped us get a fast insurance claim. Very satisfied with their work.

Our well pump went out and Leon took care of it the same day it died. He also replaced our pressure tank and gave me plenty of good advice about how to maintain our well and our plumbing in general. Would recommend them to anyone who has a problem with their well system!

Lost water pressure over a Saturday and Leon and Roger were over within a short time. They cleaned the well screen and determined that the well pump was still working per specification by pulling the pump up and water came out with a good flow. They determined that the problem was not with the pump outside but rather inside of the house and correctly diagnosed the problem. They are knowledgeable, polite and the price was very reasonable. Leon called back afterwards to see if the system was working normally. I would recommend them again for all your water well needs.

I actually called J&L second after our well pump died--but if I'd called them first, I'd have saved a lot of money and had my water back at least a day sooner!
After the other guys (the ones with lots of billboards, but this isn't about them) broke my system and tried to bill me for it, Leon and his crew came the next day and replaced my pump AND fixed the other guys' damage, for the same money the first company quoted me for just the pump! (And unlike the other guys, he didn't try to rack-up our bill by selling us stuff we didn't need.) So I'd have saved about $500 if I'd called J&L first!
On the phone, Leon might come across a little gruff, but don't let that give you the wrong idea--in person he's a very nice guy, and from the moment he shows up he's "a man on a mission" until he's got your job done. I've recommended him to all my friends/coworkers who have wells. In a business that's got some shady people, Leon did right by us, and we'll never call anyone else. -
These guys are totally fraudulent. Just took my 80 year old grandmother for 2700.00. Came out replaced bladder tank, pressure switch, and well pump. They never got it working, said they would be back the next day to get it straightened out. Never showed…. Never answered phone calls. Hard to believe a company can operate like this, and continue to do business in this state after several complaints to the attorney generals office and BBB.

Lonnie was truly a godsend. In my moment of need with no water and a brand new baby he truly made me feel like a priority and did the service the very same day!

Leon Hughes is the absolute worst contractor/customer service person I’ve EVER encountered.. He is impossible to understand, yells over anything you try and say, refuses to listen, and is
Example: he installed a new well pump in March for $2700. It’s now burnt out and no longer works… in just 10 months. I inform him the pump burned out via text after another plumber came over to diagnose and begin fixing the actual problem, and asked if the part was under warranty.. so he calls me at half past midnight, yelling over me, didn’t let me say a word, cussing at me saying my water softener is the problem, then hung up on me, then called back and continued to do it some more. I didn’t even get a word across to him. He has no idea what the issue is cause I can’t get a word in the conversation, and refuses to even acknowledge that the pump is burned out.. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS.
