Initially I was happy with my service, but since then I’ve had an interaction with this company that changed my opinion.

I paid $2950 for a replacement water heater and an installation + a brief repair on my water shutoff valve. A brand-new 40-gallon water heater retails for $500-$800 at Lowe’s — meaning I paid AT LEAST $2000 for the work alone. I had no problem with this, as they were able to come the same day and get it done quickly. I was fine overpaying as I just needed hot water and they were available to get it done. My tech was a cool guy and did everything right. My issue is NOT with him.

At the end of the service, I asked him what the damage was and he told me $2981. I only had $100 and $50 bills and he told me $2950 was fine. I even asked multiple times if he was sure and he said yes. He left and everything was great. I left a glowing review and was very satisfied with the process.

A week later my landlord informed me that they reached out to him stating we had an unpaid balance of $234, due to the fact that I didn’t have enough money to cover the cost of the service. I was shocked and confused because that absolutely did not happen. I counted out over $20,000 on the floor in the same room while my tech was doing the install. I had more than enough money and I paid him what he asked. The extra $234 wasn’t mentioned at all. This was not an issue of me not having the money.

What I believe ACTUALLY happened is that the shutoff valve repair was so minor that the tech decided not to charge me. Then greedy management decided to override his decision and called to collect more money over a week later. I told them I would pay, but I would be updating my review to reflect my honest experience. After that, they told me that instead of paying the remaining balance, they could just remove the warranty from my water heater. I told them that’s fine — go ahead and remove the warranty. I had already massively overpaid for the work we had done anyway, to the point wherever everyone I’ve told how much I paid was flabbergasted and informed me how much I had been overcharged.

I have a lot of respect for the people who come in and do this kind of work, my tech was friendly, professional, and went above and beyond to ensure we would be repeat customers. It’s truly a shame when greedy management ruins business for everyone. My landlord and I were planning on having a new HVAC system installed by this company, but we definitely won’t now.

I had the classic 'bait and switch' sales approach from ARS. When I paid, I chose the Carrier 2-stage furnace. I was told that I had a special price that had to be accepted right away and the new furnace would be installed the following day (1/10/26). I never received my copy of the receipt until 4 days after the work was completed despite asking for it on multiple occasions. Thus, I was never allowed the right of rescission. Moreover, the wrong furnace (Rheem, not the Carrier that we discussed with the salesman) was installed. I have attempted to resolve this issue with ARS on multiple occasions. On two consecutive days, I was told that they understood my concerns and they would call me in the evening. On both days, I never received any calls or correspondence. It is obvious to me that they do not care about customers.

Dustin was the most patient, accommodating, friendly service tech I've yet to experience. He explained he loves his job and it showed. he even got up on a step stool in the garage to help me activate our new garage door opener.

Was concerned about an unusual sound from my furnace. I called on Monday morning. Was able to get an appointment on Tuesday afternoon. They called later and was offered an appointment for 5 pm on Monday. I was called just before 5 to let me know that the technician would be there at 5:30. He arrived addressed my issue and it was just that simple.

Steven T. the drain tech was solid from start to finish. Showed up on time, explained exactly what was going on, and didn’t try to upsell or rush the job. He cleared the drain efficiently, kept everything clean, and made sure it was flowing properly before leaving. Super professional, knowledgeable, and easy to work with.

Nobody wants HVAC failure especially on below zero days. ARS resolved my concerns quickly and efficiently. Jonathan gave me options w/o any pressure. The installation crew, sorry I don’t know their names, showed as promised. They were courteous and did a great job keeping the area and pathway clean. They got to work and got it done. Kudos ARS!

Austen did a good job, but ARS is not very reliable. They cancelled without telling me the first time and tried to cancel again today. You have to stay on top of them to make sure they arrive. But once here, great work.

This is the first review I have ever written, and the only reason I’m writing it is because what happened here was that unacceptable.

ARS/Rescue Rooter quoted me $1,700 (or $1,400 if I waited) to replace a warranty-covered circuit board. That price was labor only — no part included.

Because it sounded high, I contacted other licensed HVAC companies. Four of them confirmed that ARS’s quote was not a market rate and was far above what this repair should cost.

One of those companies completed the exact same repair for $321 total.

So when ARS says this is “premium pricing” or “reflective of the market,” that is simply not accurate. I verified it multiple times.

I’m not someone who writes negative reviews or complains publicly, but people deserve to know when a company is charging 4–5× the standard cost of a basic repair. That is not normal, it is not justified, and it is not something customers should accept.

If you are considering using this company, please get another quote before agreeing to anything.

I contacted ARS regarding a malfunctioning two‑year‑old furnace purchased from them in January 2024. ARS quoted a $6,200 repair for a new control board and blower fan. I declined the estimate, paid the service fee, and sought a second opinion.
Another HVAC professional identified an installation fault that had caused the furnace failure. I shared a video documenting the drainage issue as possiblity that they had misdiagnosed the problem. ARS stated that they would not check for part warranty coverage, because of their misdiagoned issue, and instead directed me toward an unnecessary and costly repair or replacement for a two yr old system.

The second company confirmed the installation issue, replaced the fan and control board for a reasonable labor cost, and worked with the manufacturer to obtain warranty coverage for the parts. My total expense was less than 10% of ARS’s estimate.

I submitted a follow‑up question and the video to ARS, but I have not received a response from their leadership team.

Proceed cautiously, as they did not stand by their work to install the system in '24, misdiagnosed the problem, and only tried to charge me a huge replacement fee to address an issue that was $1200 to repair, most of that Rheem will covered under parts warranty and my costs will be less.

Ars/ rescue Rooter were very professional. When we needed our hot water heater replace. They came to give us an estimate on cost and when the job would be completed, with no obligation or fee if we did not decide on them. The next day the plumbers showed up. They discovered our venting system needed replaced they installed a whole new vent with no additional cost. They stayed by their word on the original contract. Very knowledgeable and polite. A little pricy, but you pay for what you get. Very pleased.

ARS was great to work with. Nick, who came to the house and completed the inspection and gave us an estimate was very friendly, knowledgeable, and took the time to answer all our questions. Not only did they come out on a Sunday they were one of very few companies I could find that did not change an inspection fee. We will definitely use them again if the need arises

Called ARS and Matt came out & told me 3 different options & costs for replacing my WH.
I chose the tankless WH. The next day Nate came out & installed tankless water heater and “Flo Tech”. Both men were very polite and knowledgeable about the products.
Nate was the technician who did installation which was a 6-8 hr process. Nate worked straight through nonstop on getting it installed. He did a great job! He installed it earlier today so I am looking forward to not having to buy 40-50lb bags of salt for WS. I had the water softener replaced with “Flo Tech” looking forward to all the benefits it will provide my waterlines.

Exceptional Turnaround and Service from Aaron at ARS Plainfield!

I felt compelled to write this review because of the outstanding experience I recently had with ARS of Plainfield, particularly with their technician, Aaron.

To be completely honest, my family and I have had issues with this company in the past, and we were hesitant to call again. However, it's clear that ARS has done a tremendous amount of work to turn their brand and service around. The commitment to improvement is evident in every interaction, and Aaron is a perfect example of this positive change.

Aaron was knowledgeable, professional, and incredibly efficient. He clearly explained the issue, answered all my questions patiently, and performed the repair flawlessly. It was the kind of respectful, top-tier service that you hope for but rarely receive.

I could not be more satisfied with the work provided, and I highly recommend asking for Aaron if you need service. It’s wonderful to see a company not only listen to feedback but truly implement changes for the better.

The tech that was sent to us austin, was very professional, very helpful.
Knew his job very well and you could tell he enjoyed what he was doing.
He spoke highly of the company that he worked for ARS, COMPLETED THE JOB IN A TIMELY MANNER and even went on to discuss what we could do to further avoid this drainage problem.
The company was quick to get someone here late at night. And the day before a holiday period the service was excellent and the price was even better.

I was able to get a tech out same day (on a Friday). He was SUPER nice BUT they didn't have the part and wouldn't have it until Tuesday at the possible earliest. I was able to locate and purchase part same day but then needed the After Hours support. I was charged another $100 for a same day visit and advise it would be $150 an hour. The after hours guy was not nice and it was like he was mad he had to come out and ended up saying maybe 30-45 minutes and charged me $425 when I supplied all the parts (gas valve). It was freezing cold out and in the negatives and he had no compassion.
Tech's are good during office hours but the after call person was not friendly and will probably over charge you. The best part is that 24 hours later my furnace quit working again because another part broke (fan motor). So I still have no heat and am looking for another company to replace the fan motor.
