I called Godwin Plumbing on Monday, 2/2/2026 and spoke with Jeff. Scheduled appointment for 2/4/2026, but John was able to come on 2/3/2026. He was very professional and completed the pipe repair quickly. John gave me future tips. Thank you again for your prompt response.

Excellent customer service from the Godwin Team. Installed a whole-house water filter and serviced the hot water heater, all for a reasonable price. Micah was on time, very thorough, and did an outstanding job. Highly recommend.

I like to think the people of Godwin hardware and plumbing. I especially would like to shout out and give thanks to Norm. He works at the plumbing desk. He’s always kind. He’s very helpful and several times he’s gone out of his way to help me with difficult problems and give me good solutions. One time he grind on one of my plumbing parts because they didn’t have the part they managed to Repair that part to the point where I could temporarily install it allowing me to get the water back on that was a huge help and I appreciate all his efforts.

On Tuesday, Feb. 3, Lee installed an April Air Humidifier on my furnace. While Lee was here, he noticed something I wasn't aware of. He directed my attention to the water heater and asked me how old it was. He pointed out some observations about the water heater that were quite surprising. He indicated that the condition of the water heater was dire, that is, due to the clogged nature and inability to release pressure. This, he explained, meant that it could actually blow up! The scenario he explained was frightening. We decided immediately that it needed to be replaced, thanks to Lee.

Lee returned the following day and installed a new water heater.

We consider Lee a very good plumber and a great asset to your company, Lee has a great attitude, and a very friendly personality.

Washer shut-off started to leak, so I called Godwin. I was expecting they would be busy with the holidays, but they were able to schedule me just a couple days later. Cameron Olson came out to complete the repair. Not only was the job done fast and effectively, but Cameron was very kind and he gave me a lot of very helpful maintenance tips. It was an excellent experience overall! Highly recommended.

Steve did a great job installing our steam humidifier. His execution was great and he was very professional.

I was having issues with my furnace shutting down and rebooting. Godwin originally said it was my thermostat that was causing the problem and replaced my old Ecobee with a new one. Unfortunately, the thermostat was not the problem. Steve came out today and nailed the problem. He was personable, capable, and efficient. He explained what he was checking and why. I now have a nice cozy home with a HVAC system that is working like a charm. THANK YOU STEVE!!!!

Godwin never fails. Any plumbing issue, question, etc., they're my first stop. Had an issue rebuilding an old tub valve, took it to Godwin and within 20 minutes I was out the door. Not only did Colton rebuild the valve while I was there, he walked me through the entire process so I could rebuild the other when I got home. Local hardware stores are on a whole different level.

Following the relocation of our gas meter, a leak was detected at the connection to our dryer in the basement. The gas line was aluminum which is no longer approved so needed to be replaced. John and Cam did a great job of quickly proposing a stainless steel solution and took care of everything in a single visit. We’ve always been happy with the service and quality from Godwin.

We had a great experience remodeling our kitchen. We walked into Godwin and met Bill Smith. Great guy. Listened to all our ideas for the kitchen. He also had great ideas. Bill is very easy to work with. He’s very professional. The kitchen is completed. Beautiful!! So happy with end result.

So happy to have found Godwin as a recommendation from the previous owner of our home. Tim and Lee were professional, gentlemen, efficient and did not try to sell us on items we did not need. They took the time to go over the system with me which as a new owner is very helpful. We needed someone to come out and fix a leaky sink and old plumbing in a time crunch. He replaced the old plumbing and fixed it that morning, very reasonable price for all he did! We have also used Godwin plumbing through a contractor to reconstruct a bathroom remodel and were very happy with the work!! Reliable, good service!!

My dad was worried about their water heater leaking at the base of the tank. Godwin came out on a Saturday to fix it! He told me they were quick to respond and serviced him the next day. This is an outstanding hardware store! Godwin Plumbing and Hardware is truly an institution in Grand Rapids, MI! The staff is knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. Recently, I needed to change the washers and rubber rings on all of my bathtub faucets, which are 67 years old. I was having difficulty with these aged, well-worn appliances, and my task required many trips to the hardware store. Colton in the plumbing department was especially helpful: When I described a problem I was experiencing, he understood immediately what the cause was and helped me to solve it. He took the time to custom fit the washers to my ancient hardware so that they would fit properly and stop the constant stream of water coming out of the main faucet. I did, at last, solve all the problems thanks to Colton's, and other staff members at the plumbing desk, expertise. They helped me build confidence in myself! I am grateful to all of you! Godwin is my "Go-to" hardware store!

We purchased a new two-stage furnace from Godwin and we couldn’t be happier! Our sales rep, Rob Hilaski was super knowledgeable and helpful in our decision to invest in the right furnace for our sized home. Awesome. I had Godwin replace a 20 year old hot water heater and not only did they do it within a day, but the price was extremely fair and they did a fantastic job. Truly one of the best contractors I’ve ever worked with. I will definitely be using Godwin plumbing again!
