I was happy with the service provided from the office personnel up to the actual day of the job by Joe and his team. There wasn't any "by the way we noticed..... it will cost more". The price quoted was the price paid. They were professional installing a Trane unit and after the job was done, they cleaned up. They were on time and thorough. My apologies to Joe Cool and team, I should have left this review a few months ago, but forgot. Whoever reads this review, I''m telling you, you will not regret having this business either repair or install your units.

Joe and his team are phenomenal! We had some issues show up after we purchased our home last fall. Joe's team had done the inspections prior to purchase. They returned to do the repairs and were more than fair about settling on the cost. These guys are honest, fair and do quality work. They don't try to upsell with doomsday predictions about you system. They will work with you to make the the best decisions for YOU, not for them. You just don't get service like this at very many places so these guys are really pretty special. I highly recommend!

(Note: I had discussed our system with another HVAC company and they were telling us how badly our entire system needed replaced and were trying to talk us into spending 10s of thousands. Their salesman even went so far as to tell me that hot air rising up to my 2nd floor from downstairs was a myth! Ridiculous!)

I’ve had Joe and his team service my heating and air for several years and just recently had to have a brand new unit installed. After meeting to discuss what I would need and pricing, we set up a day and time to get the job done. They arrived right on time and got to work. I was impressed at how they put tarps down to protect my carpet! After the full day install they stayed to test the unit and made sure everything was working properly. Thank you!!! Highly recommended!!!

Beyond impressed with the level service, knowledge, professionalism, fairness, and overall kindness I received and felt today. I will need to replace my whole unit in the next several months/year but I appreciated that I wasn't pushed into replacing the whole unit immediately. My technician was Clark Sofia- be sure to ask for him when calling Joe Cool. He was honest, helpful, quick, professional, and friendly.

Curtis came out to the house on time, fixed the capacitor within 10 minutes of being here. He was professional, knowledgeable, and explained everything as he was fixing the issue. The AC works perfectly now. They charge a $100 fee for coming out and the capacitor was $105, which is a little bit higher than the prices I found online but still very reasonable. I will be reaching out to them when I inevitably have to change our AC units and furnace.

So impressed with the professionalism and honesty of Clark and Joe Cool! I originally had our Trane installed and serviced every 6 months by Maynor Service Company. Despite an install hiccup, I used their annual service plan for the last 5 years. Once they started suggesting $500 UV lamps for the outdoor unit, I thought I should probably switch things up for a second opinion.

My friends all used Joe Cool, and I am glad I do now too. Clark spent a lot of time going above and beyond, including taking off the original install seam glue for the upstairs unit (which never was) and accessing hard to access screws, indicating they never even cleaned the coil post-install once despite paying for it! No wonder they were always in and out in 15 minutes. But he took the time to do it right.

Two things you need when hiring tradespeople- expert knowledge and honesty. This company has both, and I am a lifelong customer now.

The technician was clueless about the issue (water leaking due to condensation) and then called his boss to explain the issue to get some suggestions on what it "could be". After speaking to him for a while, he suggested to get a quote for coil replacement ($3000+) or entire HVAC unit replacement ($10,000+). I was shocked and explained but the unit is only 4-5 years old with brand new construction and he said it doesn't appear good. Got second opinion from different company and they fixed it just by cleaning the drainage line and putting some more refrigerant to prevent icing on evaporator coil (< $250).

All in I have heard all good reviews for Joe cool from my friends but my experience was not very good unfortunately.

Update as of 2/17/24:
We have known for several years now that we would need to do a whole home HVAC replacement in the near future. Our house was built in 2003 and until this week, we still had the original units. One of our furnaces broke down last week, and since the repair was going to be over $500, we elected to go ahead and have both full systems replaced.

Russell and the team were fantastic to work with. They communicated clearly, were super careful to keep our house clean, and they were very friendly and patient with our 7 year old son who has A LOT of questions. He loves mechanical things and he really enjoyed getting to watch some of the work get done.

Joe Cool HVAC is the only company we will call in the future for HVAC work!

What follows is an older review:
We had a problem with one of our furnaces recently, and Joe Cool HVAC had someone to our home in a matter of hours. The service was great, the heat was fixed in no-time and pricing was reasonable as well. We will be calling Joe Cool anytime we have trouble with our Heat or AC in the future!

Neighbors recommended Joe Cool of NC when I discovered that I needed a new HVAC system. The Joe Cool folks were so honest and easy to work with. And $5,000 less than the next lowest quote!
One part of the new system was defective. They could have left it in place, rigged to seem fully operative. But they let me know about the problem and replaced it as soon as the replacement part came in.
I have full confidence in Russell and the rest of the folks at Joe Cool.

Joe Cool was recommended by my coworkers 10+ years ago. Came in late from out of town last nite to failed AC and they had me fixed by 10:30 this morning. Really happy to have them as our HVAC guys. Straight shooters, helpful and all about customer service. Highly recommend!

Joe Cool really provided us with Excellent Customer Service during the heat wave this past week. They arrived quickly, found our problem, & had the parts on the truck to service our HVAC!
When we have to replace that system, Joe Cool is the only one I'm going to call! Thanks again for keeping us Cool.

Very happy that I chose Joe Cool to replace my entire HVAC system last summer. I couldn't be happier with the quality of their work and the level of customer service. They're an independent business with a long time reputation for honesty and quality work, and the two technicians (Curtis and Clark) who worked on my new system were knowledgeable and professional. "Bigger" does not always mean "better" when it comes to quality work! I almost went with one of their big competitors who advertise all the time, only to learn when comparison shopping that the other company was quoting me the wrong size unit right out of the gate. Installation by Joe Cool was correct, clean, and professional and the new system has already brought a noticeable reduction in my heating and a/c bills. I will be a lifelong customer from now on!

I was recommending Joe Cool to my neighbor just now, and realized I might not have put up a review yet! Been using them since 2013, when they installed a heat pump. Called them a couple times since then for minor issues and they responded promptly and fixed the actual problems, without trying to soak me for anything. Oh, and bought a second heat pump a couple years later through them.

It's really nice to be able to trust your HVAC service. Previous large chains I've used obviously reward techs for upselling customers on problems. Joe Cool techs don't do that. They tell us what we need to know, and fix what needs to be fixed.

Just had Nate and Matt install our new AC unit. Could not be happier! This company has been totally professional throughout the whole process. Highly recommend them!!

We needed to have both HVAC systems (house and apartment) replaced in their entirety.
This project included replacing a heat pump package unit with a dual-fuel split system, upsizing the apartment system from 1 ½ tons to 2 tons, relocating both outside units and removal and replacement of all ductwork, registers and return air filter frames, etc.
I actually met with eleven HVAC contractors and received nine proposals.
Of the nine, some were just too expensive; some were offering lower tier equipment and a few were unresponsive after the initial quote.
I ended up with three contractors that I felt would do a good job with name brand equipment at a fair price; Allen Kelly, AirMakers and Joe Cool.
My extended family has been using Joe Cool for at least the past twenty years to take care of eight houses between us.
Joe Cook retired a couple years ago and Russell Penny took over Joe Cool HVAC.
I would have just called Joe Cook if he had not retired, but I did not know Russell very well, so I went through this entire process and ended up with Joe Cool anyway.
What I learned in the course of a full week working with the Joe Cool crew is that Russell is very knowledgeable and customer focused. He has a great crew in the field and Karen handled everything in the office flawlessly from passing messages to permits, inspections, AHRI certificates, Duke Rebates and other stuff that I am probably not even aware of.
This is a tough time to change out an HVAC system. Rapidly rising prices, new refrigerants and equipment as of 1/1/25, unknown reliability; all make choosing the right installer even more important.
I have every confidence that the Trane 17.1 SEER 2 multi-speed heat pumps are the right choice for us and that the equipment was sized and installed properly.
I also like the fact that with the dual-fuel system in the main house, we have the best of both worlds and the flexibility to choose gas or electric depending upon utility prices in the future. And we now have the ability to run the furnace on a small generator if necessary.
A big unknown for me is the dependability of this new equipment and new refrigerant, with leak sensors that can lock out a system. I would normally have waited a few years for the manufacturer to get the bugs out, but with the inflation reduction act tax credits expiring at the end of the year we decided to move ahead now.
This makes our choice of servicing contractor all the more important. I expect that Russell, Ken, Matt and the rest of his crew will be knowledgeable and responsive if we do have any trouble with any of the equipment.
There are some good HVAC contractors in our area. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend AirMakers or Allen Kelly.
For us, Joe Cool was ultimately the best choice.

I was low on freon and it is the summer right now and temperatures are reaching 100º. I also have a infant and toddler which made the situation dier in fixing. I called many companies and most were unable to come until the following day at noon. He called back and informed me that he couldn't come until tomorrow as well but he changed his mind, gave me a solution in being able to come, came by, fix the issue (freon) and helped my entire family get cool in this 100º weather. I appreciate it and am grateful.

A/S Eco Air Services did an excellent job with replacing my air conditioner. They were very professional and explained step by step everything that was going on with my unit. They came out as promised on a holiday and the team worked very hard to get my unit installed in a timely manner. Akraim explained to me in detail about my new unit and did a walk through to show me what the team did and what I needed to do to ensure I get the best use out of my unit! Would definitely recommend and am very pleased with their services!
