I called Carlton Heat and Air because my AC unit stopped working. The ladies at the office were friendly and accommodating. I was so thankful they were able to get me a same day appointment especially since it's been so hot lately. Lucas my technician was very knowledgeable and fixed the problem within a fee hours. I would recommend them to anyone needing HVAC services!

Our family has used Carlton Heating & Air Conditioning multiple times over the past few years and each time have been very satisfied with their work. They are very easy to work with and very prompt in coming out to fix our heating or air conditioning problems. As a mechanically challenged individual, I feel they could easily take advantage of me recommending a new unit, but have been able to perform quick fixes for a lot less money. I trust them, highly recommend them, and will continue to use them in the future.

Had the best experience yesterday with John. He was very friendly and knowledgeable on what the issue was. He wasn’t in a rush to leave without resolving the issue. He was very professional and explained to our family what the issue was and we slept very good because he fixed the issue. Even speaking with the female over the phone scheduling our tech to come out was very friendly. This company clearly knows what their doing and you won’t go wrong choosing Carlton heating & Air conditioning.

Lucas is a fabulous technician! He came out yesterday for Fall safety/cleaning check. He was thorough inside and outside. He checked everything! Gave me great insight into filters to keep my unit working for a long time. Peace of mind here for sure knowing there’s no carbon dioxide leaks anywhere. 18 months ago this new unit was installed and every safety/cleaning check has been good. But I will say Lucas is a favorite technician for sure! Keep up the good work Carlton Heating & Air.

Best service experience. Quality work, reasonable prices, and professional, courteous, and enjoyable to interact with them. We bought a 20 year old house. After 20 years, the system that Carlton Heating installed when the house was new gave out. We figured that they must have done well in maintaining the units to last 20 years so we called them to install two new heating systems. The president of the Carlton showed up and remembered installing the original units himself 20 years earlier. Quite an impressive story. We anticipate another good 20 years on these new units under the same care as the original units that were installed and maintained by Carlton Heating & Air Conditioning. We called them on a Monday. The President of Carlton showed up on Tuesday. They began work on Wednesday and were finished on Thursday afternoon. Most impressive service experience. The two installers were very courteous and knew what they were doing. I would highly recommend Carlton Heating & Air Conditioning.

We have had a cold room in our home and I thought we needed another floor vent. I got John Carlton to come look and he agreed another vent would solve my problem. The crew came out 2 days later and did a very neat job installing the vent and within 2 hours the job was done. We have been very pleased with the room now being the same temperature as the rest of the house. Good price and good service.

Our system is under warranty but it happened to be user error and a chargeable visit, but in true holiday spirit, he didn’t even charge us. He’s won our loyalty!

Could not be happier with Carlton Heating + Air. We highly recommend them for your HVAC maintenance.

We had a service agreement with another HVAC company for 6+ years. They installed our new HVAC system. They serviced it, per our yearly service agreement, at the beginning of July 2024 and packed up their tools, saying our freon was a little low. We had to talk them into looking for a leak. Found a leak in the coil, Fast forward 3 weeks and no word about coming to replace it.

We called Abby at Carlton and Adam showed up within a couple days to check out our system. He could have come sooner, but we were unavailable. He found that our freon was down 40%+. They ordered the coil and came in a couple days later to fix our system. They also found a switch that was going bad on the outside unit and soldered a couple solder joints and were still able to beat the other company's quote for just the coil replacement.

We now have a service agreement with Carlton Heating + Air.

John and his team did a fantastic job replacing and upgrading our A/C unit. John was very consultative, and ensured we got the most efficient system for our home, and took care of all the details during the installation, including the electrical pieces and even made sure our existing ductwork was up to snuff considering its age, resealing where needed. Our electric bill this month was considerably lower than last January’s, and we couldn’t be happier. We highly recommend Carlton Heating and Air. You’ll be glad you called them.

two HVAC contractors advised I needed to replace my entire system. Josh from Carlton came and in a matter of minutes diagnosed a simple issue(low on refrigerant) and quickly fixed problem inexpensively saving me thousands of dollars. he also pointed out a leak in gas line to my generator. I could not have been more impressed. I texted all of my friends and told them about Josh

The review below is for the initial installation & under-warranty service call. I gave them 5, well-deserved stars. The revised review of 4-stars (I really want to drop it to 3 but that wouldn't be fair, IMHO) is based upon a recent service call.
To wit: my thermostat suddenly went blank and the a/c, in July heat/humidity, stopped working. "We'll be there between 8am-noon" They quoted me an OUTRAGEOUS price for a new Ecobee (over $600 for a $150 unit). I ordered one to be overnighted by 8am thinking I'd install it myself. Granted, I was told it would be $125 for the service and $125/hr (minimum 1hr charge) to install it if I bought my own. It wasn't the thermostat. A safety switch had cut off because of a clogged drain line--clogged from the INSIDE, not the outside, in less than 2 years. (I've never had a a/c drain clog from the inside in my 54 years of home ownership). They called at 8am, "we'll be there between 2-4pm". He came, spent 15 mins solving the problem. The cost? $125 service, $195 SET FEE to unclog a drain line. $343 with taxes. It seems only their initial, NEW SERVICE costs are reasonable. Had I not just had a local (Wake Forest) HVAC company remove the blower motor (and shroud) from my brother's HVAC unit, replace the motor (I bought the part), reinstall and re-hook the necessary wiring for $280 (2 hours work--service call included) I might not have felt so butt-hurt paying $343 to have my drain unclogged and the water tipped out the sensor's head. GUESS WHO I'M USING NEXT TIME for my needs?

We were having a magnificent heat wave which was breaking all temperatures and heat indices records. And despite spending A LOT of money with Carlton last fall (brand new 16-seer2 American Standard Gold-series heat pump and all new duct work), I'm now sitting in a house which is also breaking all-time highs. It's 85 in my house.
I called Carlton on a Monday--HELP!!--of course, they were slammed with a/c requests but said they'd be here in Wednesday. After mentioning I'd drop this review to 3-stars to see how they'd handle this in-warranty service call, they came that day, noted I was out of coolant, filled it up and made me VERY VERY happy.
The tech didn't have the tool needed to run down the leak, so they came back the next day, found it was a factory defect (coil leak), found the new part and installed in Tuesday. Now THAT'S SERVICE!
Speaking of service, the guys who installed the new unit (CJ & Avery) & ductwork were excellent! Fast, efficient, friendly--heck, they even made friends with the secondary dog--and she doesn't like anyone except her momma (and me, if I have food).
The owner, John, told me from the beginning he wanted to be my HVAC guy (I'm a 48-year long licensed NC General Contractor)--and he WILL BE, from now on.
Honestly, folks, I couldn't be happier. Great people, good equipment and a great price.
If you need new HVAC stuff, these are the ONLY people you should call.

Carlton Heating and Air Conditioning has been servicing my HVAC equipment for years and as a Realtor I also use them to do inspections for all of my buyer clients. They do excellent work and are reasonably priced. I would and do recommend them to everyone.

AC went out on July 2. Carlton cam out next day to guest us fixed before all our company arrived the next day! Thorough. Professional. FAST!!

I've had Carlton on a few projects now, the owner and team have been very professional, fair and complete said task in a timely fashion never impeding construction schedule in place. I highly recommend Carlton for any HVAC needs.
