Lane from Fire and Ice was extremely thorough and did a great job diagnosing the issue with my heat. Very professional, explained how the unit works and what he was checking as working through troubleshooting. Thank you for the help this evening
-
Nicholas and Zach were very knowledge and professional spending the day with us. It was a huge job and they were amazing to work with!
-
Walter was efficient, informative, & offered financial assistance for work required. He was plesant & on time & I look forward to working with him & your team

Great service from Walter! Quickly diagnosed our plumbing issue along with a detailed explanation of the best resolution. Very professional...great guy!

Installation 3 years ago was horrible. 14 trips back including changing out a motor. Told us to watch for a leak, which we didn’t see until the house was for sale. Almost cost us the sale. Almost 4 weeks to repair. Including rescheduling appointments without notifying us. Promised several calls back from scheduling and a manager. Took over 2 weeks to talk to someone who could help.

The service technician did a great job, they give 5 star service however the management and customer service as far as communication goes gives about 2 star service. This is an ongoing problem that needs to be addressed by the company because it literally takes only a few minutes to send out a text or an email to the customer regarding what’s going on.

Fire and Ice is the bomb!! We were having trouble keeping our furnace running on Christmas Eve and they came out, fixed it, AND were able to knock out the seasonal maintenance that I had been remiss in scheduling. Our technician Mike was amazing and explained things so clearly.
They are going through big changes now as a company so there are a few hiccoughs, but stick with them because they are awesome and do a great job!! -
This is a reminder to the general public to try to find a trusted HVAC guy, preferably one that you know personally. It is unfortunate but the HVAC industry has become a scam. Most of these big companies nowadays are all doing the same thing.. they have no desire to fix or service your furnace or AC. They just want to sell you new ones.
I called CJs on a very cold Saturday morning and told them that a furnace quit at a rental and my tenants have a newborn baby and I would like it fixed asap. They were understanding and said they'd be there between noon and 5. At 530, they texted me and said they won't make it out until the next day. I wasn't thrilled about that but I said ok and I took some heaters and things over for my tenants so they could stay warm.
The next day CJs showed up and said my furnace is really old and it's junk and has lots of various issues and not worth fixing and they generously offered to replace this small, apartment furnace for $8,500. I knew that was ridiculous and in the meantime, my regular HVAC guy came back from vacation and he looked at it and was shocked at CJs diagnosis. He said my furnace is only 9 YEARS OLD and just needed a new motherboard, which he bought from his supplier for $95.
He got everything going for me and did some maintenance and said my furnace looks great and he charged me $450. He also mentioned that if he'd have had to replace the furnace, it would have cost me between $4000-$4500. And this is not a beer money HVAC guy. He's been in business 30+ years and is the best at what he does.
In summary, be sure to get multiple opinions if someone tells you that you need a new furnace. Most of these businesses are just trying to take as much of your money as they possibly can...there is lots of room for a good, honest, reasonable HVAC company in the Columbus area if there are good people out there wanting to start a very profitable business. You can charge half of what most of these companies do and make 250k+/year just working by yourself with no employees. -
Anthony did an amazing job helping diagnose my issue and find solutions that worked for me. When I eventually needed to replace my unit he was very helpful finding a good deal for a replacement unit that was very hard to find and working with my busy schedule. Eric and his partner were quick, efficient, and great communicators throughout the replacement.

So I have used CJS for a full HVAC replacement at the end of July 2024. The initial instal was pretty botched; they left trash all over, they broke the cement pad the furnace sits on, they failed to correctly size the duct work that lines up with the new unit and slapped aluminum tape across the 2" gap instead, and instead or correctly placing the gas line they simply cut into the side of my brand new unit so they wouldn't have to do extra work. After the install there was no quality control or supervisor that checked the work.
2.5 months later I began having a large leak when I needed to turn on the heat. I requested service and a guy came out to replace something because he stated when the furnace was installed they did not install a plug where it was supposed to go. while here he stated the install was unacceptable and he would have it addressed.
The day after this was replaced I returned home from overnight work and found my house set at 70 degrees down to 62 degrees and the heat inoperable. At this time I called once at 6:48 am and left a message. I then called again at 8:08 am and again requested a call to correct the issue. after waiting until 9:27 I had yet to hear from anyone at 10 am.
My recommendation is stay far away from CJS Heating and Cooling!! Worst customer service I've seen in a long time!
I've worked with Atlas Butler in the past multiple times at my old house and would recommend using them. They are a great company with great customer service. They always stood behind their work and took their time because they care about quality work.
On October 17th we met with Joe the project manager at our house and he apologized and stated they wanted to do right by us and that they wanted to replace the atrocity that they called a furnace.
He asked what works for us and stated any day we will make it work for you. I asked initially for the 21st and he immediately said oh any day but that one I'm fully booked. So we set it for the 28th of October and requested in the morning as early as possible so as to conflict less with our schedules which we have had to set aside for them I believe 7 times in total. My wife and I requested #1 just to simply please communicate times arrivals any issues between the 17th and the 28th.Joe "Assured" us he would do it personally if need be and gave us his "personal" number to reach him.
Morning of the 28th arrives I sat at the kitchen island waiting to let the installers in but at 8 still not one word. So at 846 am my wife reached out to Joe in a text with no response at 924 she calls his phone with no answer. (I guess communication isn't his strong suit). She then calls the office at 926 and gets a hold of a very rude office person states the installers are coming from Dayton. At 939 she receives a txt not a personal call from Joe who simply states they are on their way.
Installers arrived and once here inform us the furnace which they just received today the morning of the install mind you was damaged too bad to install. (I guess CJS has an issue with preparation as well as communication) The new furnace looks better but only time will tell with the operation.
Poor preparation, planning, communication, and extremely poor customer service. So I posted an initial review reflecting the truth of what happened and what we had to go through with CJS.
To finish I spoke with Joe and we agreed upon a partial reimbursement for the labor on the instal. I was told I would receive a check in 5-7 days by mail. After 2 weeks my wife called to inquire about the check. She received a txt from Joe stating once the review I had posted reflected the work done he would send the check. This was never agreed upon or mentioned in the deal. What I won't stand for is someone trying to to blackmail my wife or me for personal gain and to keep the negative truth about the company under wraps. This was so unprofessional and disgusting. Joe finally came out 2 days after we had planned and gave me the check and watched me delete the initial review.
DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH CJS HEATING AND AIR! -
My furnace stopped working with outside temps below -10 degrees on a Friday morning. Fire and Ice came out within a couple hours. Everywhere else I called would not send anyone until Monday evening. Tavon spent 4 hours working on it and made sure it was running properly before leaving!
Forever calling Fire and Ice for HVAC needs! -
We have had so many issues with our fixer upper home when we first moved in — but as soon as we started working with CJS, all of our issues were fixed!!! They have treated us with kindness, communicated effectively, and delivered every single time. Junior was extremely helpful in his communication and made me feel so valued as a customer. 10/10 recommend!!!

This was Anthony’s second visit to our home within just a few days. He was nice, but not experienced enough for this ongoing problem we have been having with our furnace since very shortly after purchased & installed by Fire & Ice. We were promised their most experienced supervisor would be out & that did not happen which was very disappointing. We have the same problem nearly every year. The system gets progressively louder, runs constantly & eventually has severely reduced airflow coming out of the vents. He did zero maintenance & only taped down the backing on the inside of front panel on the furnace which did nothing to remedy the problem. It is progressing like clockwork as it has done every time. When this was scheduled I explained this was a recurring problem that needed special attention. I am extremely disappointed with the service also concerned as to why Fire & Ice didn’t send one of their employees out. I’m also very concerned with the upcoming cold temps we may eventually have no heat. We pay for a maintenance agreement with them. This system is only 6 years old & we should not have had this problem going on all these years. I am hoping they will reach out and provide a permanent remedy.

Adam was extraordinary. He explained both what was needed and how it would be accomplished. He was friendly as well. I experienced a lot of confidence in his plan and abilities. This was a free estimate for a Generac installation.

Internal communication doesn’t seem to exist with this company. Everything was great until after they sold us a new system. We’ve had numerous visits since then(when they don’t cancel them for no reason) to “fix” the brand new system they installed. Literally had other technicians say the issue was due to something missed during the install. Their company installed it! They missed it! Then they wanted to charge for them to fix their mistake. Most of what the salesman told us about our system was completely untrue. If you’re looking for a company to take care of your HVAC needs, keep looking! If you’re looking for a company to happily take your money while struggling to even provide mediocre service, you’ve found what you’re looking for!

Eric Engle is a very caring and dedicated employee. He came out after the initial installation of our furnace, to fix a leak. Called and worked around my needing to go get my husband from dialysis. He did not hurry and was very thorough checking all things to his satisfaction and ours. I wish every company that I call, when needing something done around the house, had an Eric in their employment. It would make our life so much better and easier.
This man is truly Gold Star. I hope you realize his dedication to his job. Can't praise him or his work enough. -
Downgraded to 2 stars pending better service. Here's why...
In October 2024, at our semi-annual HVAC inspection and maintenance service visit, the Basset (since acquired by CJS) technician advised us to replace our 23+ year old system showing us a corroding circuit board and lack of replacement parts for this older system. This was not the first time we were advised this to be a problem. So, with winter approaching, we purchased a $30,000 Bryant heating and air conditioning system, which included a 15-year service contract including all parts and labor, and semi-annual filter replacements. Since then, we have had poor service:
1. We were refused our first semi-annual filter replacement (May 2025) because we were told the first maintenance visit was not performed on new units for the first year. If we insisted that filters be replaced semi-annually (i.e. in May 2025), we would be charged a service fee for coming out to the house. (!). No matter that it was part of our contract, Basset refused to do this at the first 6-month mark in May 2025.
2. In November 2025, we discovered that the gas heating unit was not working...just over a year old! The technician was able to fix this buy tightening loose connections, again, on a unit that was just over a year old. I wouldn't expect such a problem for such a new unit.
3. I mentioned to the above technician as he was departing that our normal semi-annual service visit included new filters. He thought this odd and suggested technicians may not even have that on their trucks in the future. Not my problem. The service contract says otherwise. To even suggest this may not be possible or not reasonable is a non-starter per our purchased service contract!
4. Just prior to #2 above, I attempted to schedule our first semi-annual HVAC maintenance and inspection visit (because, ya' know, we weren't allowed to schedule one for May 2025--see #1 above). At the time, I was told they were already scheduling for early February 2026. CJS/Basset cancelled and rescheduled this appointment three times in February on the day of the scheduled appointments or the evening before, even suggesting at one time that they could not guarantee a visit until late March explaining that weather and growing pains were to blame! I had to escalate this issue to a customer service team manager noting what we've been through, and what our service contract called for. Thankfully, the technician showed on the fourth attempt to visit, but only after a two-hour wait after receiving the initial text that he was on his way, and two calls to their customer service line. Once he arrived, the technician still inquired if I would be paying for the filters or if I had already paid despite them being part of our service contract. I really don't want to hear another word about this! I expect them to be part of each semi-annual HVAC visit! While passed techincians made a point of putting on protective booties over their work shoes, this technician did not. The technician noted dust build up in our ducts, even though they were cleaned in Nov. 2024 as part of the new HVAC installation. Overall, he noted the heating system was in good condition. After he left, we found white scale grit, possibly from the dehumidifier filter/evaporator on the floor, along with dirt from his work boot tread. We had to clean that up.
Understand: I am not someone who goes looking for problems to write about. You'll see from passed visits, I have given this same company (i.e. Basset before they were bought by CJS) glowing 5-star reviews TWICE on Google reviews. But, unless, things improve dramatically, I will keep this current rating. I'm very concerned that we purchased a 15-year service agreement relationship with this company as part of our $30K HVAC system only to exprience such poor customer service over the last year. Please, do better! -
I received fast service after I called - same day. My tech, Brent, was respectful, listened to my concerns and moved quickly to analyze the situation. He prioritized my need as urgent and quickly moved to remedy it. He replaced my electrical panel. Overall, I am pleased with the tech and the work.

Timothy was incredibly attentive, kind, helpful knowledgeable and professional! Our main pipe got backed up and he unclogged it to make sure everything that it was unblocked and draining again. It wasn't an easy job and im so thankful he was the one to take care of us. He explained everything in a way that jmade sense and answered all of the questions we had. I hope to have him again if we ever have any more issues with our plumbing and pipes, thanks for taking great care of us Timothy!!

We always have a great experience with this HVAC technician. He was professional, knowledgeable, and clearly explained the issue and the fix. The work was done efficiently and everything is running perfectly now. Highly recommend.

I commend Caleb and Shawn for fixing our air conditioner. Shawn worked extremely hard getting the parts. Caleb was especially important in diagnosing a circuit board problem. We are very happy to have our air conditioner in this very hot weather.
