I wouldn't recommend Oregon Chimney at all. The mason crew they send out (Rene et al) tried to scam me and rip me off. I paid $7000 for a full chimney tear down to the roof line(plus some shoulder work and re-tuck pointing of the lower portion of the chimney below the roof line). I left in the morning shortly after they arrived when they were just starting to tear down the old chimney. When I came back ~2 hours later they were magically already almost done with the entire rebuild? You could tell by the poor quality of their work that they only took the old chimney down about 1/2 way to the roof line and then haphazardly started to rebuild before I returned. The part they did rebuild looked horrible. It had inconsistent, non uniform, oversized and wandering tuck point joints of different sizes. Also instead of being square like the old chimney was it flared out toward the top and was slowly getting wider from where they started 1/2 way down to the top. In addition the new flashing they used looked horrible as it had excess visible caulking and was high profile and sticking out looking very unprofessional. Further more the "shoulders" of the chimney had sloppy mason work and they didn't even clean up the old joints before they put a sloppy coat of mortar on top.
Oregon Chimney has multiple mason crews and it seems there is no accountability to the customers for the work they are sent out to do on their behalf. In my case there was no inspections, evaluation, documentation, or photos taken of the work done to be reviewed by Oregon Chimney management? I wonder how many other unsuspecting customers Rene also did this to? Was the owner of Oregon Chimney even aware of this situation? Honestly I am surprise the owner or someone else didn't reach out to me directly after I sent in the photos of the unprofessional work done by Oregon Chimney. Instead I had to call several times to even get a response at all, and then it was only a lackluster text response. The employee who was text messaging me (Charlene) also has horrible customer service skills and basically said that Oregon Chimney doesn't operate like that when I called them out for trying to scam me and not do the work that I paid in full for. The only reason I even got a response from them was because I sent them a Certified letter letting them know that I was going to file a complaint with the Oregon CCB (which is required by OCCB). Charlene's initial response was asking me to pay more money ($800) for them to come and clean up the work they did do...I'm not kidding. I have text messages from them proving this. They also said the poor quality of work they did do was because they reused the old bricks! When asked why they didn't do the full tear down to the roof line like I paid for Charlene said they had photos they would provide showing me that they did indeed do a full tear down. Of course they never provided these alleged photos because Rene never took any and they never did the full tear down to the roof line, instead only going about half way down (on a rather tall chimney I might add).
They did say they would redo the work and rebuild the chimney like my contract that I paid in full for explicitly stated. However they wanted to send Rene and the same crew out to do the second rebuild! I said that was completely unacceptable and I needed an entire different and better crew do the new work.
After the second crew was finished with the redo/rework I had requested someone come and inspect and review the new chimney rework with me when done. When their lead mason Jeff arrived he had absolutely nothing to say about the work. Barely spoke to me at all. Literally no comments on what was redone. Didn't discuss what the second mason crew did, redo, fixed or anything? I did all the talking. No one from Oregon Chimney ever apologized or thanked me for being patient and understanding and willing to work with them. -
So these guys came out and did a full inspection, sweep and new cap 2 weeks later a bat flew out of my fireplace also the fire department has come do to what was thought to be a chimney fire again last months another bat flew out of fire place I called told them what was going on and was told absolutely is a problem and that they would send someone out to make sure the cap was on correctly.i asked if there would be a charge and was told 100% absolutely not unless something that needed fixed other then the cap was found I asked again so no charge for the coming out and checking and was told absolutely not the guy comes looks around says well could be from the cap or could be from the vent just not sure but if I wanted I could purchase a different cap that would for sure keep everything out. Then today I get a bill so I called and asked why the bill was told no charge to which a manager calls me back and says well yes should be 150 charge to come look if nothing is wrong then nothing is wrong so pretty sorry you were told what you were told must be a misunderstanding but pay the bill. Even the guys that inspected said absolutely could be coming from the cap because the grating is about 1 half inches wide. So in the end after first visit then them coming out to say well not real sure you should buy a different cap it cost 700 total and I still have to worry about bats coming in my house I am not someone that typically says anything about this kind of stuff but to me all we have is our word and I simply would never refer anyone to this company clearly they do not value customer or have pride in there work it's just a money thing use at your own risk

This company came out swepted our chimney and put a cap on. We have had 2 bats fly through our chimney since then. My husband called and asked if there would be a charge to have them come and check our chimney out and they told him no. Well needless to say they charged us and didn't hold to their word. This should have never happened with the bats or them charging us after we specifically asked if we would be charged. This company doesn't make keeping their word a priority and for me when I say something I stick by it. Also, they should have made sure we had the right cap to keep critters out of the chimney. 'Keeping ones word is Golden"

They did a phenomenal job from start to finish. On the estimating side, Artai took the time to review the condition of our chimney and fireplace, as well as listen to what our plans were in the short term and long term and taking that into account in providing us with options.
Working with the office team via email through the process of choosing which options we would be moving forward with on our chimney repairs, was exceptional. They were courteous and very repsonsive.
The crew that did the work Roman and his hand Jon did the work really well, kept us informed of where they were in the process. From start to finish wonderf team to work with. As well took the time to walk us through all of the things they went through and saw while working on it. -
This company was recommended by our Relator and we were very satisfied with their service. It was easy to schedule the work, the workers arrived on time and were conscientious of our space, performed the work described in the bid for the estimated price. Very happy, would recommend!!

I would not hire Chimney Sweep Specialists for any purpose. They swept the chimney, but left the wood stove insert's vent disconnected and piles of creosote around it and the sides of the insert.
They did not inspect the chimney nor provide any written report about the condition of the chimney. The chimney should be inspected with each cleaning.
I called multiple times over more than a month and have not received a response. They claim that because I did not complain about the vent within 30 days of the job in Sept, when I did not need to use the wood stove, that I would have to pay for them to finish the job I'd already paid for. Though it took a month of email and calls asking for a receipt and inspection report to receive a receipt that does not include the name of the company nor a description of the work and still no inspection report.
So, they do not stand behind their work, they do not finish the work, they do not do a complete job, and deserve zero confidence that they will leave you with a safe chimney.
I'd give them zero stars, but 1 seems to be the minimum. -
Called these guys on short notice and they were able to fit me into their schedule for later the same week. Their technician (I'm not sure if that's the correct terminology) arrived promptly, was courteous and professional, and did a really great job. Call these guys for your chimney sweeping services.

Very pleased with the service. Second year in a row we've used Chimney Sweep Specialist. Very professional job by Matt - inspecting the chimney and full cleaning. Even rearranged the firebrick so it's easier for me to replace the couple that are broken. Covered everything around the woodstove so no ash/debris anywhere. Very happy and will use them again next year.

I have a two-story house and was quoted $299 to clean, inspect, possibly repair if anything needed to be done since it was a new to me house. The chimney sweep was very professional and accepted the KN 95 mask we ask visitors to still wear. He realized as soon as he looked at the chimney that it was only one floor of the house to the roof since the stove is upstairs. So a short chimney and that they had actually cleaned it out really well minus leaving some ashes in the bottom before selling the house. So he knocked $100 off the price. Probably still a little expensive for just a cleaning but I didn't know much about the stove so I learned a lot from him. Would definitely use them again. Very quick turnaround and very good work.

These guys were great! They came out within two days, in the snow and did a fantastic job cleaning our flue. It had not been cleaned in several years. Professional, Knowledgeable, just really nice guys. Thanks again!

I received an estimate to replace some counter flashing on my chimney. It was clear from the start the estimator had no clue how to properly walk on a tile roof. Upon reviewing the estimate, there was a huge note at the bottom stating “not responsible for any broken tiles.” When I queried what this meant via email, I was met with attitude and defiance basically stating that any damage done by their workers to the tiles is NOT their responsibility. What kind of contractor doesn’t take responsibility for damage done to my home by their employees? I was shocked that a legitimate business would take this kind of stance. I called many other chimney companies in the area and ALL take responsibility for broken tiles or damage done to my home. Look elsewhere....

I have a standard masonry wood burning fireplace. Guy came out and spents 20 mins max. Put the brush up to clean the flue. Then used a vacuum cleaner to pick up ashes and to clean the smoke shelf. The inside was still all black! How is this worth $169.95??? Should be worth $50 max and that would easily pay for all the overhead. When he's finished he says everything is in good working order. which I knew there was a back draft from the damper. I asked how to tighten it and he didn't know besides putting in some kind of new damper at the top of the chimney. BTW, I ended up getting a small 6 inch bungee cord and pulled it shut with a screw hook I drilled in the brick.
I still can't believe these guys are charging over $500/hr for labor. I know professional civil engineers that don't charge that much for their work projects to customers. I'll buy the few hundred dollars of equipment and do it myself for all the years to come. -
I asked the company to come look over my chimney for a report being supplied to my Agent for selling the home. The company came and provided the asked requirements, they also stated there were many more improvements that were needed. Totaling a very high price.
This company almost tricked me into signing for repairs that were not needed coming to an est total $p 4449 .. I asked again to have ONLY the report made, NOT any repairs done.
The report came and I provided them all to my Agent for further opinions. -
These guys are awesome. James was a great technician. They are quick, on time and the price is great. They are honest and tell you exactly what needs to be done and what can wait. Second time I've used them and will definitely use them again.

We have an old chimney that the old owners never cared for so we had a lot of work that needed to be done on it. Matt was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He took care of everything quickly and efficiently. He also happens to be a really nice guy...allowing my busy body dog to watch him the whole time.
We will be using his services again. -
Very happy to find a good Chimney Specialist. It needs to be done frequently since we use our pellet stove a lot. Ryan did a fabulous job with the cleaning and was able to answer all my questions about the structure of stove.

I am SO thrilled with the work that the team at Chimney Sweep Specialists did. Prior to them coming out, I had an inspection from another company that suggested nearly $2000 of work to be done. When I went up on the roof myself, our chimney didn't look bad at all! I found CSS and they did a quick inspection and agreed with me, they work the other company suggested was completely unnecessary! $500 later, we had 2 new chimney caps and a sealed crack and we were good to go. I will forever use CSS in the future for my cleanings and inspections!

Made an appointment for chimney cleaning and inspection and heater duct cleaning. Due to some unexpected circumstances the duct cleaning could not be carried out as scheduled and will need to rescheduled to later. Ryan inspected and cleaned our prefab fireplace, helped fix some slight cracks in the fire box, and fixed our damper that would not stay shut. He also gave us some pointers on what to replace our poor fire grate with to prevent burning logs from falling onto the floor of the firebox and causing more cracking. Professional service, on time, quality work, would recommend.

I moved in to a new home that had a wood stove. Prior to starting a fire in the stove this winter, I hired Chimney Specialist to clean the stove and the chimney including an inspection. I believe it was Ryan who came in. He showed up on time, inspected the stove and the chimney and declared that it was safe to operate, already clean, and required no further cleaning. He also showed me a picture of the inside of the chimney that looked pretty clean. He charged me only for inspection. I really appreciate the integrity.

Great company. Great communication and responsiveness from Bill for getting us scheduled. James was on-time and did a great job of explaining what he was doing and why while cleaning our wood stove and chimney. Stove works great. Thanks again!

I called looking for a quick chimney clean only 5 days before Christmas, and they fit me in on the 26th! Showed up when they said they would, cleaned the chimney and didn't get a spot of soot on the white rug we had right in front of the chimney. The cleaner even took off his shoes when he came inside without being asked. He answered all my questions and was in and out in under an hour. Very professional service, and I very much intend to hire them again.
