I highly recommend Steve and Cost Plus Heating & Air. My furnace stopped working, even after another furnace company had come out to fix it. When I called around to get service, everyone told me it would be at least a week before I could get a repair. Steve was able to get out the next day, identify and fix the problem. He also explained why the problem occurred. Other furnace folks have told me that my furnace needs to be replaced due to its age, but Steve said that it's a good furnace and could run for several more years. Music to my ears! Finally, the cost of the repair was very, very reasonable. I cannot recommend Cost Plus enough. Thank you Steve for helping us stay warm over the holiday weekend!

What a fantastic job they did for us after we had nightmare tenants trash the place and the furnace was out. They came right out when we called, identified the problem and got parts needed and it was working like a champ the next day. Highly recommend. Great communication and pricing.

If you're on the market for a trustworthy and reliable heating contact look no further. Steve and his team were life savers to us! As new home owners in a pandemic it was difficult to navigate getting good help that was also affordable. After our furnace broke in November we tried to go through our home warranty and were matched with one of their contractors who did absolutely nothing for us, we waited for 10 weeks with no heat in 40 degree weather. Out of desperation we decided on an alternate route and we found Steve. Within 2 days he had a quote and timeline for us. He was honest, friendly and straight forward and even got us upgraded to a mini split without breaking the bank. His team got the job done in half the day and were super respectful, even showed us in-depth how to use the unit before leaving our house cleaner than when they arrived. We'll be Cost Plus customers for life! Can't recommend them enough! (Copying our post from YELP because this company deserves all the shout outs I can give)

Cost Plus Heating is truly the best. I reached out a few years back since the shop is just around the corner from my house. Steve was super helpful, knowledgeable, and trustworthy. He has never tried to sell me products or services I didn’t need and has even given me tips on things I could fix on my own. When my old furnace finally gave out, Steve installed a new one for a great price. Him and his son have also helped me a lot recently during the sale of that home... quickly stopping by to fix minor things that the new buyers requested. I would highly recommend Cost Plus to anybody in need of honest, efficient, and reliable service.

Steve went out of his way to help me and way beyond the call of duty to do a professional and very thorough cleaning of my furnace. Even though he fit me in after the end of his day, you would never know it. He took his time with the cleaning and explaining to me what he did and why. I highly recommend Cost Plus Heating and Cooling and was so impressed by Steve.

Steve came out to look inspect our furnace, which went well. It was busted and needed replace so we asked for a couple quotes. After some research we decided to go with them.

However when we reached out to get things moving, they were difficult to get ahold of and not very communicative when we did. We told them we had a couple questions, but that we were ready to sign the paperwork and get moving. That is when they completely ghosted us. We reached out again but they didn't respond.

Maybe they had filled up with projects in the meantime, which I would totally understand. It's a busy time of the year. However, I found it rude for them to just cut off all contact. Seemed extra inappropriate in December when temps are low and I was getting by without a working furnace.

I'd still like to know why they ghosted us. Barring that I can't recommend Cost Plus due to flaky behavior.

We had Cost Plus bid our ADU heat pump over a year ago and just recently went ahead with installation. The price understandably went up some. But they use top brands (ours is Daikin) and were significantly less expensive than all other quotes so we didn’t even bother getting updated quotes from anyone else.

The whole team was wonderful to work with, including installers (Mark and Logan), Connie (in office) and Steve (quoted project and helped determine which unit to use). They fit us in when they had a last minute opening and communication was great with everyone :) Highly recommended! Really appreciate their stellar work at an affordable price.

Steve installed a new furnace last winter and got me a great deal. He was efficient on time and fix the problem. I called him about my air conditioner not working and he worked me in on a Saturday, cleaned it up and got it working. Then he didn’t even charge me! It was a circuit breaker. He was wonderful to come out on a Saturday and fix it! A great company to work with!

Steve is amazing! Our (very old) furnace broke down and we called them up. They were quite busy, but managed to fit us in next-day as Steve was nearby. He cleaned everything up, got the system running again, and identified the issue we had to fix. He even mentioned he might have a spare part to fix it. Then he walked us through options on an upgraded furnace/AC unit that we've been wanting to put in for a while. All around, highly recommend!

Called the day after Thanksgiving for regular furnace maintenance. A few hrs later the darn thing wasn't functioning properly. Reached back out to update the status and Steve was able to come by same day in just a few hrs - incredible! He listened to my gripes, and then diligently went through all components. Even though my furnace is at the end of it's life, Steve was more than accommodating in getting it up and running in the meantime while also discussing long term options. He is super hard working, knowledgeable, and an all around good guy. Pricing was VERY fair. Would recommend them to anyone needing HVAC services and look forward to working together in the future. I can't say enough about Steve and Cost Plus Heating & Air. Steve has serviced both of my houses for 25+ years, including installing new heating and air conditioning units. He replaced my thermostat 9 years 8 months ago. We called him a couple days ago and told him it was malfuncting and during the hottest day in Portland he answered my call at 7:30am and in a couple of days he replaced the damaged thermostat (10 year warranty) and only charged us a nominal service fee. Steve is extremely professional, responsive and very honest. I would recommend Steve and Cost Plus to anyone needing HVAC services.

We installed a mini split in our attic bedroom and central AC downstairs; Steve and Connie were very patient, answering all my questions and talking through multiple options with me. I appreciate his pragmatism and that he doesn't try to upsell or push more expensive equipment unnecessarily. Despite being very busy during the summer season, he usually answers his cell phone and is gracious about any questions/concerns. I know I will be able to count on him to help if anything malfunctions and for regular maintenance calls. He rebuilt our existing furnace system to accommodate the height for an AC coil, and did a very tidy job. His team (including Mark and Emmanuel) were prompt, professional, and courteous-- using drop cloths throughout the house and cleaning up all refuse and old equipment. I recommend his team to anyone in N Portland looking for quality installation and equipment at a reasonable price.

Steve / Cost Plus Heating and Air were amazing in their responsiveness during Portland's "Heat Wave" when my AC stopped working. Given false hope of emergency service appointments from other businesses, Steve checked in with me the next day to see if my AC was fixed (they were booked the day prior) and came to my house immediately and troubleshooted and got our air back on within 1 hour. Great communication, honest and extremely fair pricing (I wanted to give more than he was charging!) What a gem.

This is a really great family run business. I've had furnace repair guys at my house before and non of them have taken the care Mark and his son have taken with our furnace. The other guys were just interested in selling me a new furnace. These folks totally cleaned everything, got everything running beautifully, and left us feeling very satisfied with the work. They exceeded expectations. I wish them continued success.

After months of receiving quotes from multiple companies and being disappointed for many reasons, I finally came across Steve and his colleagues at Cost Plus. They were everything I needed especially as a first time HVAC customer: genuine, communicatively non-invasive, quick and direct, knowledgable, and financially reasonable. I appreciated the entire process from start to finish.

Steve was thorough yet efficient when he initially came over for a quote, didn't try to annoyingly sell me anything I didn't ask for (other than exploring options for what I did ask for), and really knew what he was talking about without the added bells and whistles. Just by walking through our door I was impressed by how much info he was able to gather by the time we sat down to talk! Despite it being a Friday, I got a quote just a couple days later and was amazed by the very reasonable cost.

On the day of installation, Steve and his colleagues got to work early and immediately. There were times I even forgot they were there because of how hard working and efficient they were! I already have a busy house, so it was nice not to worry about them. Once they left it was like they were never there...except now I had a new furnace and a beautifully working AC unit which I was enjoying immediately. They had quickly taken care of all their tools, equipment, the boxes, etc., Steve showed me around the final products and explained what they did, asked me if I had any questions, and they were out!

Steve is the best! Our AC quit working this summer and I pretty much gave up on it after another company told me I’d need to replace both the AC unit and furnace to get it working again because both are 20+ years old. Then I called Steve… who popped over to our place the same day, serviced the furnace and replaced something in the AC … and it was fixed! No frills, very fair with pricing, and knows his stuff inside and out. I’ll never call anyone else for our HVAC needs. Thanks Steve!!

Top notch family business. Very happy with all facets of the process - from bid to install and walk thru. The entire team was fantastic and they finished the job quicker than expected while leaving a very clean space after the job was done. They also were able to reposition the furnace from the original location which has given us a large useable space that didn’t exist with the old set up. Highly recommended!

I had *such* a great experience working with Steve and his whole team at Cost Plus. This guy really knows his stuff, is completely honest with you, and extremely professional. I am so happy with our new furnace and so happy we went with Cost Plus. While installing the furnace, we discovered that one of the bedroom vents had not been connected to the heat previously. Steve and team were flexible and able to fix this issue affordably. I can't recommend them enough. We set up a time for a technician to come take a look. The technician (Mark) arrived when he was scheduled. He inspected my furnace and fixed the issue I called about. He looked over the furnace for any additional issues or maintenance that may be needed. Mark was courteous and professional. He took care of the issue and left us with peace of mind.
