HVAC reviews in Austin, Texas

Bardo (definitely deserving of your offer to buy his lunch) and Precision Heating and Air have given us great service today and in the past many times. They are always professional and respectful. I highly recommend them.

Silence Redfearn provided stellar support in maintenance of my HVAC system, as it has gone a year and a half without service since the agreement had inadvertently lapsed in 2024while I was overseas. She clearly explained her findings and my options with my bow aging system. On a follow-up visit, at my request she brought Silas Hatcher, Home Comfort Advisor, who clearly explained options and costs at such time when my system will need replacement. Thanks to their explanations, and Silence's repairs and service, I was able to determine that my existing system can continue, and now I know when a new system will be required. I highly recommend Precision/Fox services based on this experience.

Fox was great. I had a pipe burst in the yard and Ralph was able to come out within 2 hours. He explained the issue, gave options to address and fixed it by the end of day. He was thorough anx professional. I’d definitely recommend

I had a ton of issues with my ac unit. I ended up just replacing it. Jose was the technician that installed the new unit. He was awesome. He was right on time introduced himself shook my hand and immediately wen to work. He directed his helper on what to do and began removing the old unit. Throughout the day he would check in with me and let me know where they were at. They ran into some issues which wasn't their fault but my cheap builder but was able to take care of everything. It was a long day for them especially on a Saturday but they got everything done. Now my new ac is up and running and so much nicer. Jose was polite respectful and very professional. If you are going to get precision to do any ac work make sure you ask for jose to be the tech.

While Ralph was polite and effective. Other than opening the flue of the chimney (was to be left open by chimney sweep) and attach a retaining nut to the hot water side of a faucet. This part was missing from faucet package, about a year ago. We had a contract with a different company at the time, who would have done it for free (as we had paid for a whole installation). But when it arrived, we had left that firm and contracted w Fox, so they were going to charge us to install the retaining nut. Now contracted to you, we declined. I waited till I needed a plumber to request this, as it is a minor job. So I added it to my service call. The chimney flue took very little time to detect, and we aren’t sure this will correct the problem. The nut instal also didn’t take much on time. We had expected $50 or so for the nut instal and same for the fireplace, which is 1/2 of what was charged, and that was with a 20% discount. The 4 stars are for Ralph. I would give the pricing 1 star.

I had a great experience with Jose Castellan. He was excellent—he communicated clearly throughout the entire process and worked late into the evening to ensure our new unit was fully running even though he knew he needed to come back the next day to finish the work. Thanks to his hard work, we were able to use our heater that same night. Highly recommend their professional and dedicated service!

TLDR: Hot Rod is not in it to help you. Their techs, management, and ownership approach customer service with such a profit-retention mentality that you as a customer will always be wrong and will likely pay more than what you agreed to. They’ll even manifest a convenient cover story to exonerate themselves. Do yourself a favor, go to the next HVAC listing.
I’m not a big fan of negative reviews, as I assume they’re usually written in an emotionally charged state. I decided to wait a week to gather my thoughts and write as mindfully as possible.
Pros: I hired this company because they were the earliest available to assist with a sweltering A/C issue. The technician was cordial and confidently explained what he believed to be the issue.
Cons: The technician completed his job and told me that it should be cooling off in the next three hours. When the temperature began to rise after three hours, I called the company and they agreed to send someone the next morning. The next day, the technician told me that the issue wasn’t with the first A/C unit, but another unit that he didn’t check. He quoted me several prices for a temporary patch, the price of the visit to evaluate the second unit, and the prices for the parts that needed to be ordered.
When I asked why the second unit hadn’t been evaluated initially, he told me that I had only requested the first unit to be checked. This is when I realized they were trying to blame the customer for their misevaluation. I am not an HVAC tech nor do I claim to have any knowledge of HVAC workings. I don’t even know where the units are, much less know which one is broken and why. I simply called Hot Rod and said “It’s hot. Fix it.” I was taken aback by the blame game, but I was desperately going into day 2 of a broken AC in a medical office with patients. So I authorized the patch to get the air flowing again.
I had a weird feeling about how things were being handled, so I hired another company to double check. They came out that night and advised me that the issue was not what Hot Rod had reported. Furthermore, their “patch” was electrical tape that they wanted to charge $125 for.
When I called Hot Rod and spoke with the office manager about my experience and the shoddy workmanship, she recited the technicians version to me that I had requested only one unit to be evaluated. She spoke to me condescendingly and patronized me when I asked to speak to the owner. I left my number to be called by the owner, but instead I received an email stating that I had only asked for one unit to be serviced and that’s what they did. She didn’t hear my side or answer questions about their work. She essentially wrote her letter and washed her hands of it. That’s the company that exists at Hot Rod, from the bottom to the top. -
Family Owned Business. Richard came out and was very thorough, professional and helpful figuring out the wisest choices in repair costs. Prices were very fair and service was excellent. I highly recommend Hot Rod Mechanical.

I had a situation in which my dryer vent needed to be placed through a limestone block wall, and 4 other HVAC companies either said they couldn't, or they ghosted me. Hot Rod was confident they could easily get it done, they placed me on their schedule, and then they got it done within the day. They were efficient, direct, and competent, and I so thankful my contractor friend recommended them.

Wish I could give a higher rating than 5 stars.
Incredible service. I called at 9:45 with a broken AC and it was fixed by 11:45 for 220$ bucks. I couldn’t believe it this company is amazing. -
Jesus came to help me when my AC went out! He was able to come the same day I called and thoroughly checked over every part to trouble shoot the issue. So thankful for his promptness and expertise!

Took two separate days off work to have these guys move my return air vents. Monday they showed up to look that’s it. Said they’d coke again Wednesday at 8 and no-showed. When I wrote them he wrote back saying they wouldn’t be coming today because Of vehicle problems. Then asked when they would return, no reply. I’m hiring someone else. Waste of time twice.

I submitted multiple requests for a quote to have somebody come out to resolve a clogged HVAC drain line. TRS was the first to respond with acceptable availability and prices. So we setup an appointment.
While here, I also opted to have the 7-year old HVAC system services, inspected, and cleaned. During the process, the technician was very helpful in explaining what he was doing, and providing tips and suggestions along the way. It seems you get different guidelines for maintenance intervals depending on who you talk to. In either case, it was useful feedback.
He found a capacitor nearing failure, and was able to quickly replace this for less than if I had waited for it to fail. With Texas summer approaching, that's never a good thing.
The only issue was not being able to actually address the drain line issue. I ultimately called another HVAC specialist who also didn't immediately have the answer, but was able to quickly determine the issue (which there was no issue) and verify everything was working perfectly. I was simply given incorrect information from the original home builder.
That really came down to experience. Which unfortunately cost me another expensive service visit fee. As such, that somewhat left a negative impression with me. Although to be fair, overall, it wasn't a bad service experience. Just not ideal. -
Juan and his team were honest and great to work with. My Home Warranty Company made the process of fixing our AC extremely difficult but TRS took care of us with quick reliable service.
-
I called TRS Juan arrived on scheduled time. Juan explained to me what my issue was with my A/C unit and how he was going to resolve my condensation problem from my secondary line.
Juan was very professional and explained to me on what I would need when time to replace my entire a/c unit.
I recommend TRS for my future a/c needs. -
On Monday, they said they couldn't find the correct part in town. I found out that two places had it. They said they ordered the part from Amazon, but brought the wrong part on Wednesday, so my toilet still isn't fixed. It has not been operational for 5 days! I'm grateful to American Home Shield for reassigning the work.

Our AC stopped working at home and we called the business late night around 1:00 AM. The business owner himself returned our called and gave us some steps to get it going. We unclogged the main drain line and it started working again! Thank you for your fast response! We definitely recommend this business!

TRS worked on my remodel and the actual work that was done was great. They come to the house when they say they will, they are professional and they are efficient. The most difficult part (which has been SO VERY difficult) is trying to coordinate for final inspections, which should be the easiest part. I've been delayed for weeks waiting on them to schedule a single inspection. It's been very stressful trying to coordinate with them.

Shout out 5+ stars to Juan Zavalija!! He was a great TRS representative. Well spoken, polite and very professional, taking the time to answer all of our questions.

Home warranty company sent these guys to check why our AC was leaking. They wanted to charge us 350 to clean coils. We closed on our home in April and coils were cleaned at that time. So before agreeing to have services done we called our inspector that we used to come take a look. Turns out our coils were perfectly clean and the leak was due to dirty filters. Glad we didn't pay 350 dollars for work that didn't need to be done. It's sad to see companies trying to take advantage of people.
