HVAC reviews in Austin, Texas

I have tried over and over to get ahold of them and even when I do they swear they will be in touch. Weeks and even months go by without word. And when they finally did come over they talked about astronomical amount of work including getting heavy equipment over to replace a unit that someone else did by themselves on a ladder.

In 2014, they installed a new Condenser. Now, I discovered that they installed one that was made in 2002 and charged $3800. I got took! I could of saved money and just got a whole new HVAC from another place.

Website claims 24 hour emergency service. I was told a tech would be dispatched to repair my kitchen refrigerator yesterday morning, nobody showed or called. This morning, they tell me no techs are available until Monday.

They installed a Rheem system for me this Spring with all up to date protocols. It has operated like a champ all through the summer. I was particularly impressed with the knowledge of the installer. And they couldn’t be more local, right off of 1826. Thank you so much!!

I found a minor problem quite some time after the installation of my furnace. I called Hank's and told them. They refunded me $100. Great Service!. Thanks Hank's.

Hank's just installed a new AC/heat system. They were on time, did great work and resolved some issues that come with an old condo building.

I have used Hanks for 12 years. Their servicemen have always been helpful and polite. They have taken care of problems promptly and efficiently. I have had their service contract for all these years and have been very pleased. I would recommend them very highly.

Hanks Service and the staff go the extra mile. And Hank what a great guy he and his guys even came over to the shop and installed 2 fans to help the shop vent better during the summer. Honest and upfront no hidden charges. friendly staff and fair

They installed our unit back in 2015 and it still running like its brand new. We have theyre plan to check on the unit twice a year and they always so friendly with my family and pets. They share rockstar advice on how we as homeowners can take care of the unit in between services. Thanks for everything yall!

The service technician, Randy, was very polite, friendly, and professional, which is the only reason why I give this company even one star. However, I was shocked by the $755 price tag when it came time to pay for the 30 minutes of work consisting of screwing in a couple $30 components. Furthermore, I am now convinced that I did not even need the repairs in the first place, as the root issue of my heating problem seems to be an electrical one at my breaker box, not the heater itself. I feel like I was robbed :(

My fiancée and I called Hank's to service our downstairs A/C unit. The serviceman arrived and checked the freon level and let us know it was low. He then looked at the air handler - didn't even open it, but just looked at the exterior and saw that it was older than the outside portion. We just needed the unit charged with freon. The serviceman wouldn't charge the unit unless we agreed to have the air handler replaced by Hank's. Mild extortion is no way to do business.

Hank's Technician was very professional, friendly and efficient and worked to fix my Air conditioner with the lowest cost possible as quickly as possible. He did a great job and went "above and beyond duty".
-
Hanks responsiveness and care when I reported my ac was not blowing cold air out, was first rate. He came out the very same day, assessed it, found the problem, charged it with Freon to get me over the jump, and had the parts replaced within 2 days.

Dangerous practices and completely unbothered about pumping Carbon Monoxide and cyanide through our AC vents after repairs.
Hank came out and replaced our coil system in our attic for 3k. Fine. It got the house cool as I have two little kids and it was HOT. The smell was horrific once they finished and we inquired about the smell. We were told "it's the sealant. No big deal. It will clear". One week later, the AC doesn't work again. We call Hank back. They replace the coil system AGAIN bc they said the new one was defective. Once they finished, the smell came back and again, was sold it is the sealant. An hour-ish after they leave our carbon monoxide detectors go off, I get my husband and children outside and call 911. Fire department comes and CO is found in the house as well as very high levels of HCN (Hydrogen cyanide (HCN), sometimes called prussic acid, is a chemical compound with the chemical formula HCN. It is a colorless, extremely poisonous and flammable liquid). We had to sit outside for over two hours while the fire department used massive fans to suck all the air out of our home because it was too dangerous to enter. Once we were able to enter the fire department came back again a few hours later to test levels again and ensure everyone was okay.
The HCN was a result of the sealant, and the CO was a result of Hank's workers welding in the attic without proper ventilation. Then the CO was sucked up by the AC unit and pushed through the vents in my home.
I called them FOUR TIMES before finally getting Hank to call me back. I asked him if he realized how dangerous his practices were and that we are lucky the CO didn't cause us to pass out - and that we'll just cross our fingers we don't end up with cancer due to breaking in the HCN both times they made repairs.
Hank told me that "he knows that showers can cause CO detectors to go off". I told him that was impossible because the fire department found CO in the home. It wasn't a shower causing a dangerous gas. I'm not sure if he's that ignorant or if he just plays that way. He called my husband a lair and asked for the fire department records. Which we had to request from the city, but did send via email (at his request) 6 weeks ago. No response. No phone call. No apology. Nothing.
He clearly didn't care he put my family's health at risk and I guarantee whatever sealant he's using in my house, he'll use in yours. At the VERY MINIMUM he should be telling people to open their windows and leave their house for a few hours... but instead of admitting it's dangerous they just shrug their shoulders and hope you don't die in your home. -
Bernard from Hank's is amazing he almost installed my propane dryer, but Sears sold me all the wrong parts he took his time explaining to me everything I need, taking pictures and telling me exactly what to tell Sears and what parts to order. Bernard knows the true meaning of customer service. I will definitely use Hank's for my heating and air conditioning needs. Thank you

I needed some minor repair to my HVAC system. Tyler was very professional and courteous. In addition to fixing the items I had identified, Tyler also found another minor item that greatly improved the performance of the AC.

Just had one of my AC units replaced. Worked with Bobby, came out yesterday and installed today. Bobby is great, super nice, super competent and efficient. Price was fair and service outstanding. Living in Texas, you kind of need AC, these are the first folks I will call in the future. Good work guys!

My oven door no would no longer lock and so I could not run the self-cleaning function. Other than that the oven worked perfectly. I went online to find a repair company to come take a look at it and found Hanks. They had a on-line request for service function and since I was already on line, I thought I would go ahead and use it even though I really prefer to talk to a real person. I got an email back telling me I had to call to request service. So I called, and was told that I couldn't request service until I could tell them the manufacturer's name (that information wasn't requested in the on line format) so I got the information and called back and scheduled the service. The repair man showed up on schedule, this was the only part of the service that went well. After stripping a number of screws and banging around in the oven, the repair man told me the solenoid switch would need to be replaced and quoted me a price that seemed high and the part would need to be ordered and another visit scheduled. As the repair man packed to leave, I noticed that the display on the oven was now flashing and asked the repair man if that could be returned to service. Without the display working, there would be no way to set temperature or anything else on the oven and it would be completely unusable. After a half hour of yanking and banging on the oven, the display was again functional.
After comparing the cost of a new oven to the cost of the repair, I decided to go ahead and request the repair be made. I called Hank's and was told that the repair person would call me back. In the 2+ weeks that followed, the door to the oven no longer completely closed and screws that were improperly re-installed fell out. After 2+ weeks, I called Hank's again, and was again told that the repair person would call. After another week I called a 3rd time, cancelled the request, and asked that my original fee that was paid be refunded since I would have to start all over again with another repair service. I did receive the requested refund. -
If I could give 0 starts, I would!
Here is goes. We come home Saturday noon from a week vacation and it is 84F in the house set up by the Nest. 3 hours later it is 81 and not going down so we contact our landlord. Sunday morning Hank himself showed up, did the inspection, barely told us anything except that he cannot fix it today because he needs some parts and left. Talked to us and our neighbor who happens to be an engineer in the most dismissive and rude tone you could find. If it were my choice, I would not have him back after that day.
Tuesday he is supposed to be here at 11, instead he shows up at 12:45, spends 10 minutes in the house and leaves telling us that we missed the window of opportunity as it is 115F in the attic. Dahhh, you are almost 2 hours late, !@#@@!
Wednesday 2 guys come out and do 3.5 hours worth of work, bill the landlord 3500$ and everything seems to be fine for a few hours until we notice that Nest is set up to 76, and it is like 70F in the house, and 67F in my 1 year old room.
Thursday Hank shows back up, does more work and finally tells us that the Nest is fried and we, WE need to replace it. And once we get a new one, we can call him back and he will come install it. And mind you, that is told and done in the most dismissive and rude way possible. At that point I was so angry I called my landlord and "shared" the wonderful experience I have had up to now.
Friday it is, and one of their other associates Bobby comes out and installs the Nest for free. Friday is also the day my 1 year old daughter wakes up sick because these f.... people took almost a week to fix the AC with 5, 5 separate visits and a douchy attitute and a 3600$ bill.
NEVER AGAIN! Bobby was nice, and the other 2 techs who did most of the work were nice. But NO WAY IN HELL would I ever use Hank's company. He was the worst service person I have ever had to deal with (welcome to the f... south where everyone is so nice!)
Words of advice, STAY AWAY! -
Hank's just did a rebuild of my system about 7-8 years of age.
They, in less than a full day totally rebuilt two systems. One a heat pump, 2 tons the other a 3 ton regular air system.
Both systems work better than they did when new.
Hanks is OLD SCHOOL! Their word is their bond! A very good spot to invest your hard earned money.
