Called KoolZone to come out because our AC wasn’t blowing cold and the coils were starting to freeze up somewhat. Rene took care of our issue and was very honest, professional, friendly and communicative. His work is top notch. Great! One hour ac and a couple other places tried to make me buy a whole new unit when my compressor went out and said they couldn’t get a compressor for my 11 year old unit. Kool Zone did it for me did a great job fast.

Rene/Kool Zone has been a tremendous blessing to our family during both the brutal heat of this past Houston summer, after having been without central A/C for 26 days in July - and in the early days of winter weather without heat - he fixed our unit the same night on both occasions - working late into the night until 9:30 PM! For the A/C - He didn’t even charge a dime until the warranty company finally came through with a cash settlement after 30 plus days of being without A/C!!

Rene is the sweetest, most honest technician I have ever welcomed into my home, much less an HVAC tech, who are generally known for their slimy business practices, oftentimes forcing homeowners to replace, newer systems, rather than fixing the non-working part.

Below please find my email to the CEO of First American Home Warranty that finally resulted in action.

Good afternoon, Mr. Wendl,

First and foremost, I must express my deepest disappointment that I am forced to bother you, the president and CEO of First American Home Warranty, as I have been without central air conditioning for 26 days in the dangerously high temperatures of Houston, Texas in the middle of summer!

I have been a loyal, platinum policyholder of First American Home Warranty since 2013, and would never expect such appalling service provided by both EMS HOME SERVICES, the incompetent contractor and by FAHW for allowing the HVAC contractor to fail to comply with FAHW’s policy of providing a work order report within 48 hours of the service technician’s visit. Not only did EMS fail to provide a work order within 48 hours, but First American allowed them to get away with this failure for 25 days!! Completely UNACCEPTABLE.

EMS HOME SERVICES has proven to be completely incompetent over the last 26 days and I am asking that you take this situation seriously and authorize a total retail repair by a legitimate licensed contractor to perform said repair, not to exceed $1800 by day’s end!

6/8/25 - I filed the HVAC claim.

6/11/25 - EMS tech was incompetent and intellectually inept, as he was “unable” to locate the model number of my unit. After 20 days of being without AC, I personally climbed into the attic and located it myself!

6/14 - The second tech easily located the model number.

6/20 - we lost 10 days, as a result of the incompetent technician, and the 3rd tech, Chris arrived without the supporting parts to properly install said motor!! Apparently the contractor your team hired chose not to order all the parts needed to secure the motor, such as the rubber grommets and the belly band! These findings took 2 additional visits with 4-5 days of waiting, in between each visit. How is it possible that an HVAC contractor could be so unprofessional and incompetent that they would order a blower motor without the required parts for a complete installation??

6/20/25 - I called first American to request a buy-out, only to find out it was never presented to the buy-out department until days after my second request for a buy-out.

6/24/25 - Brian from First American will have Lydia, the manager call me. I NEVER received a call from a supervisor!

6/28/25 - I called Kool zone Air conditioning and heating, LLC - and they were willing and able to complete the job within 3 hours, due to parts being readily available on a Saturday afternoon. They would’ve been able to bypass the control panel to get my system cooling again until they were able to obtain a new control panel.

7/2/25 - Harold in the DR ext 5395, provided excellent service and was very empathetic!

7/3/25 Juan is a supervisor with FAHW and will allegedly escalate my case.

Rene got the job done right for us the first time he came out. He was honest and didn’t try to upsell us like multiple other companies did. We will not hesitate to recommend him to our friends and families as he will be our go to for any of our AC needs.

Rene was great to work with. He came and diagnosed and found the problem within the first 5 minutes and didn’t waste any time. There was a leak in the line and he weld it back, changed the drier, vacuumed it free of moisture and air, and added Freon. Very efficient and professional. I would highly recommend.

Wow, I’m so impressed! I was referred to Rene when my AC went out and was initially worried he might not service my area. But when I called, he immediately put me at ease and said, “Don’t worry, I travel all over Houston.”

I honestly can’t recommend Renee and Kool Zone highly enough! Both my upstairs and downstairs AC units went out during the worst heat wave of the summer. I called three big companies first and every single one told me my entire system was “dead,” unrepairable, and tried to sell me brand-new units for $20,000–$28,000. I felt totally taken advantage of and was dreading the huge expense.
Then I called Renee. He came out the SAME DAY, diagnosed both units quickly, and had everything running perfectly again in just a few hours. Total bill? Under $3,000—for TWO complete systems! Rene is hands down the best HVAC expert I’ve ever encountered. I called him late in the afternoon with an emergency that resulted in minor water damage.
