My fathers AC unit stopped working on a hot July day. Other big named companies came out and gave insane estimates, but luckily a neighbor recommended commonwealth. Brian the owner was on duty that weekend, and instead of quoting a whole system replacement (which I had asked for and thought we needed), he instead saw the problem which was an easy fix and Serviced the uni on the spot. Not ONE inc that came through did this!!! He mentioned we may have a couple years left and shouldn't worry for now.. but really, there is NO worry because if we do need a replacement i 100% would rather have my money going to an honest company like Commonwealth. I have already recommended friends and family because of this. Its not often you will find this anymore in NOVA.

I have used them once before, when a less scrupulous vendor was trying to sell me a new heat pump I didn't need. They helped me understand that it wasn't necessary. Since then we've moved to a condo. The Commonwealth technician came, did a thorough inspection of our rather odd system, educated me about it, and generally assured me that it was all in working order. He was personable, on time, and clearly knew what he was doing.

From start to finish, the company has been great to work with. The office staff have been friendly and reply promptly. Brian was on time, courteous, and knowledgeable. He took time to answer all my questions, and even show me the technical specs on my heat pump. I will continue to use them!

Woke up on Saturday morning with no AC! Brian Johnson showed an hour later and fully restored the system in under 15 minutes. Could not believe it! Impressive service and customer care by Commonwealth Cooling and Heating - customer for life!

Waking up to a hot house on one of the hottest days of the year was not on my to-do list, but Commonwealth Cooling really saved the day. Although I had called about 8 - 10 different AC repair companies, they were the only ones that could come out the same day. They had great customer service, showed up when they said they would, and worked efficiently to solve the problem. My house is cooling again! Highly recommend Commonwealth Cooling & Heating!

I can't say enough good things about our experience with Commonwealth! When you call them, a person who actually understands the HVAC business answers the phone. And they actually care about your situation and in our experience will do everything they can to help you resolve it as quickly as possible. Ms. Casey was super communicative throughout the whole process and worked hard behind the scenes to get the warranty situation resolved, get the right parts ordered, and get the work scheduled as fast as possible. Our technician Albert was super professional, diagnosed the problem quickly, and was able to fix the problem within an hour of the right part arriving. Ms. Casey even followed up via a text message the week after just to ensure that everything was working and that we were doing well. If you're looking for a company that is still run like a local business that cares about their friends and neighbors, Commonwealth is who you want to call. I hope we don't have more HVAC issues any time soon. But if we do, I know who we'll be calling.

My furnace started making weird noises and the AC wasn’t working so I called Commonwealth at 3pm on a Wednesday and the technician was at my home 10AM the next morning. Within minutes he knew that the motor needed to be replaced. I will follow up with another review once the work is done, but so far this has been a great experience!

Our ducts needed cleaning in July but our schedule wouldn't open until November. Commonwealth scheduled a specific date and time and kept to it despite a heavy project they had a deadline on. Two young men carried their beast of a vacuum up and down our 2-flights of narrow stairs -complicated by an electric chair stair climber- without a hitch. They did their job, including videos and filter replacement, efficiently and discretely while a plumber did his and we did ours. It was a busy morning in our house...kudos to the HVAC men. Will certainly call back!

I called Commonwealth Heating and Cooling, LLC in a bit of a panic, hoping they could offer same-day service because my air conditioning had stopped working—right in the middle of one of the hottest days this summer. To my relief, they were able to come out that same day!

Albert was the technician who came to my home, and he was outstanding. Not only did he quickly diagnose the issue (a frozen HVAC system), but he also took the time to explain exactly what caused it in a way that was easy to understand. He walked me through the readings on his measurement device and gave me a clear picture of what was going on and what to expect going forward.

After one upsell experience after the next with the “name” HVACservice providers, the friendly, straight-forward approach by Commonwealth is a breath of fresh air. They came and did exactly what i asked for and only what was asked for, and I will use them again.

I just wanted to take a moment to comment on Commonwealth Cooling and Heating and Morgan and Angel in particular. They set up my new Bryant unit flawlessly. Morgan was the senior staffer and Angel was the apprentice, but they seem to work very well together.

Morgan is definitely on the younger side, but darn if he isn’t as crackerjack smart and gifted as his dad Brian, who’s the owner. They worked for 7 1/2 hours to get my old (21 year old) unit out and this new unit in and properly running. I don’t think they took a single break.

This is a family-run business, the kind that you want to be connected to your HVAC needs and make sure that they succeed because they really want you to succeed as a homeowner. They genuinely want you warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

Had a 16 year old heating unit that needed replacement. They came and checked and verified the unit was beyond repair as parts were impossible to find. Got a new unit installed the next day. The techs were polite, got the job done quickly without issue, and the price was very fair. Would absolutely recommend them. Thank you!

Albert came to service our HVAC for routine maintenance and he did a splendid job. Setting up an appointment was easy and Casey is helpful and walked me through setting up a maintenance contract. Highly recommend.

We had an issue with our furnace cutting out randomly, but only once a month or so. The first tech that came helped diagnose it as a problem with fresh air intake being inadequate and suggested cleaning the pvc piping to clear any potential blockage to be done in a follow-up appointment after implementing a temporary fix of simply leaving the furnace opened so fresh air from the room could enter. I took his lead and figured out that the exhaust vent waste (CO2, H2O) to outside was getting blown back into the intake vent when the wind came from a certain direction, choking oxygen and fresh air intake. The next tech that came agreed with the assessment and cleaned the vent and extended the pipe for the intake. Problem solved at a reasonable price (not cheap, but cheaper than some of the big players in this industry). Techs were on time and good communication from main office.
