We had 3 companies take a look at our HVAC when it stopped working. 2 "big" companies and also Commonwealth. The big companies both misdiagnosed the issue which would have cost us thousands. Commonwealth diagnosed the problem almost straight away and had the foresight to bring the correct part with them so it was fixed straight away. One company quoted us $2200 for something which cost us $700 with Commonwealth.

Also they were super friendly and the owner himself did the work. I won't use anyone else moving forward.

With the winter storm expected to hit the northern VA area later this evening I called Commonwealth Cooling & Heating in a panic to address our heat going out with no warning. I was given a window of 11-3 and promptly they arrived diagnosed the issue and fixed our heating along with some much needed education on how to properly schedule cleanings. Paired with their affordable pricing- needless to say their business card has earned a place our fridge. Within 30 minutes all of my worries subsided as I write this review from the pedicure chair at the spa. If you’re in the Lorton area look no further.

They have some rude employees, with severe road rage. The driver caused a tractor trailer to run off the road and kept going.

Original visit was to repair my furnace. Unfortunately on the second trip it was found to be beyond repair. Good customer service and now I have heat. Thanks

UPDATED: HVAC & Plumbing Unlimited contacted me today to make right the missed service call from Friday. And they did. The tech called me before arriving and was very professional. He diagnosed the problem quickly and was able to repair it in less than 20 minutes. Thank you for your responsiveness and professionalism.

HVAC Unlimited continues to be a top notch company. I’ve been a client of theirs for over ten years and I have never been disappointed with their work. Today I received my semi-annual maintenance inspection and both of my technicians, Joe and John, were first rate. I have three different HVAC units and they had expertise in each one. And that’s typical of every service member I’ve dealt with over the years.
I strongly encourage anyone who needs either HVAC or plumbing work to consider this company. They deliver what they promise, whether it’s a routine inspection or an emergency service. You won’t be dissatisfied - and my hunch is that if you use them once, you’ll become a regular customer.

Phillip came out to fix our boiler (heating system), and the service exceeded my expectations. Initially, we received an estimate for the repairs, but as often happens, not everything that needed attention was immediately visible. While putting everything back together, Phillip noticed we weren’t getting enough water pressure upstairs. After diagnosing the issue, he thought two valves might need to be replaced, which would have added to the cost. However, Phillip didn’t stop there—he kept investigating and discovered the real issue was simply the house water supply being partially shut off.

It’s rare to find an expert who takes the time to dig deeper and solve the problem without unnecessary costs. Phillip’s honesty and thoroughness saved us from spending money on repairs we didn’t actually need. The estimate process was upfront and very pressure free. Service was scheduled and completed very quickly. Technicians were knowledgeable, efficient and clean. We’ve used HVAC Unlimited for over 15 years for all our HVAC needs and will continue as they are consistently professional.

HVAC UNLIMITED came back today to fix my hot water heater, replace a capacitor on my heat pump and added two new floats to turn off my systems if water gets backed up. I have one system in the ceiling of my home and overflowing water is my biggest concern.
Joe came prepared with the right equipment and did a great job installing everything, including having to spend some of the time outside in cold temperatures. They are the best company. I have used them at two different homes and their prices are very fair.
