The Plumbing Officials are a Richmond treasure! Customer service from start to finish is warm, responsive, honest and timely, and Joe Ellis is committed to doing the needed work correctly, right from the start. He’s a skilled plumber and an excellent problem solver, and can assemble a helpful team in a snap—even a skilled carpenter and *his* team. From unclogging my kitchen drain to finding the source of water damage that necessitated kitchen and bathroom renovations over the course of two months, working with Joe and his team has been a source of both relief and joy. I highly recommend hiring him!

Joe was very diligent and analyzed a difficult problem, which was a drain pipe that had been installed with a reverse slope which caused the blockage. He was also very careful in the way he went about his work, and promised that we would not be charged if they could not address the problem. I'll use The Plumbing Officials again if we have need for a plumber.

I hired Joe and his team for a custom built shower and full bathroom remodel. They started very quickly, but without much of a plan. I told them what I wanted and provided the materials they said I need to get that were not included in the cost. There was a question of painting being included for the cost and I was told it was. I was told the project would take 1-2 weeks, but it ended up taking about 3 weeks. The schedule was not well communicated - workers showed up late morning or lunch time and one night stayed until past 9pm after I asked them to wrap it up. After their work on the project was done, I have spent the past two weeks either re-doing work or finishing items that were not completed. I had to dig out several little hexagon tiles from the grout because they clearly did not follow the black and white pattern. And regrouted those areas. The pattern is also crooked. The light and exhaust fan were not replaced because I was told those were "complimentary" if the schedule allowed, which is different than when I first showed Joe the items and fixtures I purchased for the bathroom. I was offered the name of an electrician that could do the work, but I ended up replacing the light and exhaust fan myself. The niche in the shower is too high for a person of my stature, and there was no discussion before as to what the height would be. I did ask for a change to add a small niche below the framing that was there to accommodate that and was ok with the increase in cost that it would take to do that. But they just added another niche above the framing that was already in place. They did not cut out space in the baseboard for the vanity to sit against the wall, so ended up having to so that as well. Joe was there to collect the final payment and I was told the painting had been thrown in for free, even though previously I was told it was included. They did not charge me extra for the larger niche, which was fair. Overall, the bathroom is finished, but the experience was frustrating to pay for a full remodel and still have to put in the detail work. If you choose these guys, make sure you have a plan with the details included of what you want the finished project to look like and what is included.

Khalil helped us this morning and it was a really positive and easy experience! We were able to schedule a two hour window, he was prompt and really nice and it was a good price. I’ll definitely be calling them again and recommend them :)

Believe the reviews. Khalil and Justin were fantastic. Provided an upfront and honest quote and stuck to it. This operation does it the right way and it obviously starts with their people. Received a call back within minutes of requesting service online. They showed up at the designated time, which was less than an hour from the time of the call. They are professional, polite and efficient.

Wonderful experience with the Plumbing Officials. I was given a free quote on site and the job was done for a very reasonable price. Khalil was so helpful and kind. He even gave me some advice on some things to have on hand as a homeowner. Really recommend them! 10/10 service and hard to find someone you can trust these days, but I really felt I could trust them to not overcharge or swindle me.

I emailed The Plumbing Officials through their website form late last night because my garbage disposal was leaking. I was doubtful anyone would get back to me since frequently those forms aren’t the best for getting a call back. I was totally surprised when they emailed me bright and early a 2 hour time slot for today, which I accepted immediately. Dinessa at the office was lovely, keeping me continually apprised of when to expect a tech to be at my home. Then Khalil showed up and was so professional and quick to diagnose and fix the problem. I had a new garbage disposal in about an hour AND at a great price. I highly recommend this company and Khalil in particular.

They came out during the evening when a pipe burst and were able to get us back up and running in a few hours. Joe and his crew still took time to explain things and the pricing was good. Will use them again in the future!

The Plumbing Officials were amazing from beginning to end of our process. They were extremely accommodating and able to fit us into their schedule right away. They confirmed the appointment via text and email, and also let us know when they were on the way to our home. They were timely and professional as well as highly knowledgeable about all of our issues. We needed a leaky pipe under our kitchen sink changed, a shower/ tub cabled, and a loose sink spigot fixed on a bathroom sink. Joe was able to diagnose all of our issues right away and thoroughly explained how/ why they would be completing the work. They made sure that we were made aware of any changes in price/ plan before making them, and assured that we were happy with all of the work before leaving. Will definitely use them for any plumbing needs in the future! Really appreciate the help!

Khalil and Ali came out and saved the day for my family. We had a burst pipe and they came out on a Friday evening to fix the issue. They were professional and courteous. They took the time to explain the issue, solve it, and then show me the repair and gave some tips to prevent future issues. I highly recommend them and their company. Support local!

Joe and his apprentice were fantastic. I called about a proactive water heater replacement (ours is from 2005 but still kicking) + whole house filtration install. They came out within 2 hours on the weekend. I was shocked. They were professional and knowledgeable. They also took time to talk through everything with me and explain the details of what they proposed and why. Because we live in an old house we don’t currently have an in-house mainline water shut off and it’s not easy access to the mainline, which is under a floorboard. They talked to me about why how they would reconfigure some things to give us access to the main line and add a water shut off while adding the whole house filtration system. I felt like they were advising me like they would their own family.

Their quote was prompt, clearly outlined, and a very good price. Ultimately we went with a different plumber but only because they had done this exact job in a house in our neighborhood recently and had photos and a complete plan for how to execute. But I felt so strongly about the excellent, trustworthy experience I had with Joe and The Plumbing Officials that I wanted to write them a review. I will definitely have them on my “to call” list in the future when I need a plumber.

I've used The Plumbing Officials multiple times now and they've always been very responsive, professional, and informative. With my latest call to them, they've gone the extra mile for me. My toilet was leaking into my subflooring and they came out after hours to put a stop to it. Within the next few days they repaired my bathroom floor better than when we bought the house and my partner and I couldn't be happier

The Plumbing Officials came out and effectively replumbed under our sink and replaced our dishwasher! (My wife is SUPER HAPPY!) Even though it was heavily raining, they came in and got the job done, cleaned up the work space (our kitchen) and left it better than they found it. We would definitely recommend for big and small jobs!”

They came out to quote next business day and provided multiple quotes for multiple systems so l could pick the best option for my family and financial needs. Khalil came out to our place for an estimate on fixing a leaky outdoor spicket. After the estimate, he was able to knock it out the same day. He was knowledgeable and offered us advice on some other aspects of our plumbing. The 10% discount on labor for teachers is also a big plus!

Khalil came and helped us out with a garbage disposal replacement. He was easy to work with and up front about cost and recommendations of priorities. He did not bat an eye when we initially decided not to move forward. He returned when we were ready to complete the work and continued to be fantastic to work with. We feel very fortunate to have found Khalil and will call him for our plumbing needs moving forward.
