Professional Warning Regarding Schroeder’s Plumbing (now operating as On Service)

I want to provide a fair and professional warning to anyone considering using Schroeder’s Plumbing, currently operating as On Service.

I used this company for several years, both personally and for rental properties I manage. Unfortunately, my experience ultimately revealed serious issues with workmanship, communication, and accountability.

Three years ago, they performed a sewer pipe repair at my personal residence. The contract specifically stated that the homeowner would be notified if any additional issues were found in the line. I was never notified of any concerns and was told the repair was complete and satisfactory. Because my toilets had been removed due to flooding, they were unable to turn the water back on at that time. However, they did camera the line, and I have video showing a blue plastic bag still present in the pipe.

The current failure is just beyond the original repair area. Based on photos from the initial work, the line was still covered in dirt, indicating the full line was never properly inspected as claimed. Had the issue been disclosed at the time, it could have been addressed then preventing what is now a costly and invasive repair that requires tearing up my living room three years later.

Additionally, I discontinued using this company for my rental properties due to other serious concerns, including:
• A valve replacement that left only hot water functioning, creating a potential safety hazard.
• Inexperienced staff openly asking others how to perform the work while on site.
• Jobs priced for multiple workers that were never fully completed.

While the company now attributes the failure to “old pipes,” this is a common excuse and not an acceptable explanation. Older plumbing systems are routinely repaired successfully when properly evaluated and disclosed.

I have been in this industry a long time and understand that mistakes can happen. What matters is transparency, professionalism, and standing behind your work. Unfortunately, this experience fell short on all three and has cost me thousands of dollars in corrective repairs.

There are many qualified and professional plumbing companies in Phoenix/ Mesa I strongly recommend choosing another provider.

People were pleasant. Honest and hard working. I question being able to reccomend the company. It took 3 times for them to fix a leak in our hall bathroom which we never had until they replaced the pee trap etc. The last person that finally fixed it seemed to know what he was doing opposed to the others that were here. More training seems to be needed on several of your men.

I had Go Direct come out for a sewer back up that partially flooded my hallway bathroom. They managed to clear my sewer line through my clean-outs and provided me with options on how to maintain my sewer line. They were super fast on getting me scheduled and had quick availability, I would definitely recommend to anyone else with plumbing or drain issues.

Worked with George on a major demo - including moving HVACs, water heaters, and a whole kitchen. He was there every step of the way to make it work, his team was on time and on schedule and the workmanship was excellent. I should point out I live in a 100 year-old loft apartment - so all the complications of neighbors and elevators and professional grade rule were in play - and they still did amazing work at a great price. Extremely dependable and honest. Jorge exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed having him in our home to workout some plumbing kinks. Our new Tankless Water Heater is awesome. He also replaced our bad PRV and installed a new kitchen faucet. So reasonable, honest, knowledgeable and an overall pleasure to work with.

Having it shared there is a water leak at the base of your home on the outside can be very concerning. It makes one wonder how much damage has taken place. Questions of, how long has there been a water leak, has the household structure been damaged, and the most important question, how much will it cost to repair everything? If water leaks are a concern for you, I highly recommend contacting Go Direct Plumbing & Sewer working with George. Originally, he came to our home for a kitchen sink drain clog only to discover water stains on the outside structure. He is very professional and gave exceptional customer service explaining the process in order to fix the problem for materials needing to be replaced and fairness of pricing given to us by his company. Throughout this journey, his scheduler Jackie was very professional offering to get in touch with George right away when questions arose and calling right back with answers. I highly recommend you give this business a call when water leaks occur. George was amazing and it is guaranteed if any plumbing concerns arise in the future for us, we will contact this company!

Excellent work from Jorge on my loop and water softener installation. Very well priced, quote I received is 30 % less the competition. Arrived on time and did a wonderful job. Everything is sealed well and left no marks of the work. Would definitely recommend.

Jorge was not only accommodating to scheduling the night before, texting with his ETA, and to coming 30 minutes later than I originally quoted. He was friendly and patient as my 2 year old decided to be his assistant. Got the job done in our bathroom sink with ease and perfection. He quoted 30% below others, showing he values helping people. He also was so kind to give recommendations about things in our new build. Will definitely use him again for more plumbing needs. Highly recommend!

I was very happy with the work done, everything looks great and most importantly works!! I was actually very impressed with the level of service received. We purchased a whole house water softener kit, with pre filter, resin tank and brine tank. I had several companies out for quotes to install it, Go Direct wasn't the cheapest, but they were not far off from it, however they quoted me a price for the whole job start to finish, no surprises no add on charges, no little surprise extras, just one number and they walked me through what they were going to do. The day of installation, I received a phone call letting me know he was on his way to get parts and would be at the house soon. The installation was first class, and he walked me through how everything would work. I would not hesitate to use these guys again, if you need a plumber don't even hesitate call Go Direct!

Isaac came and did a system check for us on two AC units and their internal handlers. Overall, he was amazing! From how personable and considerate he was to the insights he provided as a result of the check and maintenance. He (and Hansen as a whole) were a pleasure to work with!

We are vey happy with Dillon, the very skilled, efficient and polite technician who installed our new water heater and hot water recirculating system. Hansen's made the process easy, and the final cost matched the estimate exactly.

Dillon did a thorough examination of my bathroom tub and shower fixtures to address multiple problems - low water flow, hot/cold inconsistencies, and more. Ultimately he provided a cost estimate in which he would replace the two valves and get everything working properly.

The bid, however, was very expensive, more than I was prepared to pay.

Dillon's honesty and forthrightness, even to the point of suggesting that I get a second opinion on my situation, resonated with me. Ultimately, I did get a competing estimate from another plumber, who was able to get everything fixed perfectly for about a third of Hansen Family Plumbing's estimate.

So, three stars to Hansen for not charging me for Dillon's visit, and for Dillon's frank admission that I should probably get a second opinion. In the end, though, he did not see (or did not recommend) the far less costly repair solution that the another plumber provided.

Connor was great. I recently had a home inspection and I needed to get a few items looked at including kitchen sink, tub and bathroom sink. I showed him the inspection report and he immediately knew what to do. He was respectful of me, my time, my home and was great to work with. Would highly recommend.

I can not say enough good things about Mark! He spent 6.5 hours at our house fixing our hot water. We had two plumbers come out before him and they couldn’t figure it out. Mark was so kind and super intelligent. We only want mark doing our plumbing from now on.

Nels Carlson did an excellent job! We had a blockage issue that he was able to resolve quickly and efficiently. He also took the time to research and identify a larger, ongoing problem caused by the previous homeowners’ incorrect installation of the unit. Since the unit is still new and we wanted to avoid replacing it, Nels thoughtfully explored and recommended several troubleshooting options to address the underlying issue.

Highly recommend him for any repairs or regular maintenance needs!

I had an amazing tech named Dillon. He was very professional and knowledgeable. He took time to explain the issue I was having with my faucet that had a leak and with the clogged drain in my bathroom. I would highly recommend Hansen Family Plumbing & Air!
