Plumbing reviews in Pleasanton, California
-
This is an update to my original review. The owner of the company cared enough to follow-up on my less than perfect review and, to me, that's a very positive sign. He did not ask me to change anything in my review and, in fact, said that they are using the review to help improve themselves.
I told him that I believe that reviews such as this should be clear, correct, and without hyperbole. I offered to consider feedback to the review and make corrections if needed. I also volunteered to re-check and be sure I still agree with what I wrote.
While I believe the facts correct in my original review, I feel some of my comments need clarification and some are a bit more harsh than I think Savior deserves or what I intended. What follows is the edited review:
-----------------------
I’d like to give them a higher rating but I have difficulty because of the problems we encountered. Ours was a simple remove and replace a gas water heater. Their quoted price was $1900 which I confirmed included that we had a hot water pump (circ pump) and their promise to take care of the permit process. That price was $500 more than the exact same job they did for my next door neighbor approximately 9 months prior. When Savior got here I was told that I must have misunderstood and that the price didn’t include re-using the pump and that I could either have the pump removed or add another $300. So now we were up to $2200. Perhaps I did misunderstand but if that's the case then their price was $800 more than what my neighbor paid prior, not just $500
I went forward anyway because they claimed to take care of the Pleasanton permit process. The tech they sent took 2 full days to do the job (or was it three - I forget). The next day we found much of our garage flooded due to a poorly tightened inlet connection. Everything on the floor of our garage was soaked.
They quickly sent a guy back to fix it and I was pleased with their response time. He found the inlet hose to be leaking and apparently tightened it up however, by the next morning it was still leaking. Again, Savior sent someone out right away. This time one of the owners came out. He finally fixed the leak problem which, this time, was apparently a defective hose that was also over tightened and damaged.
He also had to redo some of the replumbing on the circ pump which was done incorrectly. He also fixed a dangerous condition where the gas line was left unsupported except by the connector at the wall - a potential disaster..
They may have had to come out three times to fix the leaks but it was so long ago I forget.
In any case, it took 5 days for a simple water heater replacement. Savior offered no compensation for the inconvenience and damage to our belongings.
The last straw was that they didn’t take care of the permit. Instead they sent us a form in the mail that wasn’t filled out along with a note stating that it was my responsibility to file for an inspection, schedule it and be present for the inspection as they would not attending.
In summary, Savior had the highest price in the area but I went with them because of their promises to take care of the permit process and because of the reviews on this site. I feel we overpaid significantly compared to our neighbor and other quotes I got and I spent a lot of time having to deal with 5 days of visits for installation and to correct problems with the initial work. The final frustration was the unfulfilled promise to complete the permit process.
I want to say that everyone at Savior was friendly and courteous and it appears that the owner is a competent plumber and he cares about his reputation. However, I'll also say they made no effort to followup with me and address my frustrations until they saw this review.
Lastly, I can’t explain why Savior has so many high ratings on this site. Perhaps it's their friendly attitude and those jobs were quick and simple jobs with no permit required. Perhaps my situation was unusual but I’m a disappointed customer on my water heater replacement at the moment. -
If you're reading through these reviews and what you really want to know is:
Is Savior Plumbing honest, earnest, thoughtful, good people, experienced, knowledgeable, and careful? Because those are what provide confidence and peace of mind when you hire someone, take their advice, and pay them for the service? Savior Plumbing is all that.
Repeatedly, Tom and Savior Plumbing have more than earned my jumping on Google and saying nice things about them.
Wish I had a Savior equivalent for every other service I sometimes need.
Edit: Today (Nov '22) I was visited again, and reminded that Savior people are invariably terrific. So, I thought I'd add it. -
I've used a number of plumbers over the past 30 years and feel these guys are one of the best. They are very professional, courteous and explain in detail what repairs they made. They will point out areas that should be addressed other than those that you requested. Most of these additional repairs should be performed if you intend to stay at your residence for an extended period, but you need to weigh the costs vs. the benefits. If you live in a tract home chances are the plumbing is the minimum quality standard, and will therefore require repairs at some point. If I had to do it all over again, I would have had these guys upgrade my plumbing when I first bought my house, which was newly built, and it would have saved me a lot of future plumbing expense and frustration over the years. If I had a criticism it would be the fact that they don't always have the right spare parts in their truck and therefore may require a second appointment.

We would like to put no stars, but that is not an option. We were very disappointed in the service we received from Savior Plumbing. The service people were late for their appointments. One technician was almost an hour late, but charged us for that hour. He also spend almost another hour on his cell phone, supposedly creating our bill, and charged us for that also. We were told that Savior Plumbing would credit us for two hours of free service because of the poor service we received, but we would have to pay $75 truck charge each time we asked for one of those hours.
The technician that overcharged us told us that the problem we were having of a leaky overflow valve in our bathtub could not be fixed and that we would just have to live with it. When we hired a contractor to do all the repairs, he suggested putting in a shower stall in place of the bathtub, which we eventually did.
The costs turned out to be much higher that was estimated, because of the change to a shower stall.
We originally used Savior Plumbing because they were a Diamond Certified company. We think they should loose their Diamond Certified rating. We definitely will not use them again. -
We used savior plumbing to replace the prv. We experienced low water pressure even after replacing it. They charged $190 for just troubleshooting which took 15 minutes. I called the owner (Tom) and he was so rude over phone when asked about it and said it would cost additional money to fix the issue. I will not recommend savior plumbing just for the poor management.

If I can give this team more than 5 stars I would. Matthew was our tech and figured out how to clear our drains in minutes. I had a competitor here before and they literally change their price 3 times on me in 3 hours. I opted to call back to Savior Plumbing which I should have done from the beginning. Amanda and Mariah who were at the office listen to my sad song and dance they helped me get someone out right away. I can't thank them enough. If you need any plumbing work that's a fair, honest and thorough....don't hesitate to call them. Best Plumbers in the area.

I live in Pleasanton and have been having a sewer clogging issue caused by a tree root. I'm very happy to say Savior plumbing is THE best plumbing company that I ever used. There are so many good things about this company. Let me list down why my experience with them is so good.
1. A human being picked up my phone call.
2. Very kind.
3. I even talked to the owner, Tom, for more detail discussion of my problem. He gave me right guidance.
4. Plumber was on time. His name is Allen.
5. He finished the work in 45 min, much shorter than I expected.
6. Even further, he diagnosed the problem correctly and suggested permanent solution. Very professional.
7. Everyone that I talked in the company had very good communication skill.
8. The price they charged was very reasonable.
My experience with Savior Plumbing was exceptional. -

I couldn't be happier with the service I received from Savior Plumbing. They arrived on time, were very professional, and listened carefully to my concerns. The plumber quickly identified the issue and had all the necessary tools to fix it efficiently. The quality of work was excellent, and everything has been working perfectly since the repair. Additionally, they cleaned up after themselves, leaving my home as tidy as they found it. I highly recommend their services to anyone in need of a reliable and skilled plumber.

Savior plumbing was excellent! Our plumber was friendly, courteous and professional. He explained and diagnosed our pipe/water pressure accurately. He did outstanding work. I will definitely use Savior plumbing again.

Had a gas line leak and an issue with a toilet. PG&E came out regarding the gas leak and found the leak was on my side of the meter. So I called Savior because they had helped me in the past and provided excellent service. Roger came out diagnosed the issue and proceeded to remove the old gas line and replace it. He also took care of the toilet issue in no time. Once again I received great service from Savior.
I highly recommend Savior Plumbing. -
Savior Plumbing is exactly that…our Savior. We kissed a few frogs when it comes to plumber’s unfortunately but beyond grateful to find this amazing company!!! Adam, Darrell, Colin have all worked on different plumbing issues in our home and the peace we have each time is priceless. They are the best at their craft and it shows. Thank you Savior Plumbing!

Been a happy customer for more than 18 years. Our only place for plumbing service in the Bay Area. Most recently they replaced a broken water heater that was leaking. Showed up in a matter of hours and completed a technically challenging installation in 48 hours. Came back and fixed issue that was not caused by them 100% focused on our total satisfaction. From the front end guys to the back end team in the office they do whatever they can to solve problems.

My wife and I were at the house she grew up in in Pleasanton organizing and packing things we would keep (etc.) so that the house could be put up for sale. Although I was leaving with belongings the next morning with a loaded truck/trailer my wife was to remain for several days to finalize other aspects. It became obvious to me that the main sewer line was backed up such that no toilet, shower, etc. could be used at all. Savior plumbing agreed to come out the same day. It became quickly obvious that the job was going to be difficult because of the old design of the system. Given the situation, Tom the owner, came out, and said to my wife, "Our goal is to get you a working toilet today." He brought a third person onto the job, and they cleared the system via a roof vent. They returned the following day to address some other obvious issues in the system - fixing them. I found them to be extremely professional, competent, caring and reasonable in pricing. They have my highest recommendation.

In short, there is no other company like Savior. Every person we have interacted with is friendly, respectful, efficient, and great communicators. I LOVE contacting Savior: it's a true working relationship. We have had them do a lot of work on our property, some of which required some pretty creative approaches. In several cases we had some ideas, which they carefully listened to and either explained why not such a great idea after all :-) or, in some cases, have taken it and run with it. The most recent project was clearing our roof vents of acorns. Woodpeckers had been putting acorns down the vents for some time and by the time we realized it, acorns had gotten all the way down and around some bends - and then sprouted. A true mess. Roger and a mini rooter made (relatively) short work of clearing them all and then capped with wire mesh to prevent future "deposits." Slightly over $1,000 - money well spent and no replacement vent lines needed!!! Thank you, again, Savior!

Excellent customer service, was an after hours call and the technician was knowledgeable, patient and completed the repair timely. Highly recommend!
