Our experience with Andrew Mares from Elkhorn Electric was five stars from start to finish!

We had a light post made of wood that was rotting out of the ground, and our options were to either ditch it or upgrade. Because we used it for holidays and loved tying a balloon to it for the kid's birthdays, we decided to redo it with a brick post.

Now something they don't tell you about building a brick light post is that it's insanely expensive and stressful, but Andrew made sure that the electricity part went as smooth as possible. To start, I unknowingly bought a post light which didn't include the mount needed for the stone cap of the post that I bought. I also got a tapered cap (slants diagonal up instead of flat) because I liked the look of it, but the masons did not let me know that it might be difficult to mount a light to a tapered cap and it was something that never crossed my mind. Andrew explained all of this to us and let us know that he would have to reschedule us so that he could get the appropriate parts to make our light work on our post.

Naturally I fretted about this all week. Was it going to have a pole sticking up? Was it going to be able to mount flush? Why hadn't the masons warned me about a tapered post? My husband assured me that Andrew did not seem concerned, so I shouldn't be, either. Sure enough when he arrived he was able to get the light put in no problem, looking amazing, and he added an electrical panel to the back for us, which we had originally requested, so that we have an additional power source for all of our Halloween/Christmas decorations we like to do (if you can't tell from the photos, ha). If that looks slightly off center in the photos it is because the masons cut it that way, versus anything Andrew did.

We also incurred NO additional cost for him to have to get a different mount for us, come back a second time, and the additional work it took for him to mount the post light versus mount light. He said "What we quote is what you pay", which is the opposite experience I had with the brick part of the post (as the final bill ran $1k over the quoted price). I also called my cousin, who is an electrician, with our original quote from Andrew to make sure it was fair and he said "I would have charged you more".

All of that to say that Andrew was so easy to work with and did such an exceptional job, it was the easiest and most pleasant part of the post being built. And the work is amazing and looks fantastic. My husband is already talking about having him come out to install outlets throughout the yard to make decorating easier, as well as discussing putting some lights in on our porch overhang. We would ABSOLUTELY recommend Elkhorn and look forward to working with them again!

Kevin at Elkhorn was great! We just moved to a new house and had an annual maintenance contract on our old house. We wanted to use our HVAC/furnace maintenance visit to make sure everything was working correctly as it should. Kevin was right on time and did a comprehensive review of everything, including cleaning the heating coils that were dirty.

We needed to replace our 20-year-old boiler, and our existing setup was unusually complex with far too many failure points. Eric and his team came in, tore out the mess, and redesigned the system to be significantly cleaner, simpler, and more reliable.

This was not an easy job, but the workmanship and attention to detail were excellent. Everything was clearly thought through, neatly installed, and done right. Communication throughout the process was great, and the final result exceeded our expectations.

I would absolutely recommend Eric and his team to anyone needing serious boiler or hydronic work.

Had exceptional service from the entire Elkhorn team! Our AC unit was more than 20 years old and came with the original home. Justin was the consummate professional honoring an old quote that likely would have been a few thousand dollars more than what I paid today and he was able to get his team into my home the very next day.

Eric D and his crew went above and beyond the call during the AC installation. With how old my system was and the way things need to be reconstructed, Eric was here all day until the very end to ensure the job was done well. Even after a long day he was still extremely professional, courteous and provided tips to keep my new AC unit running longer.

This was my first encounter with Elkhorn as I stumbled across their name on a Reddit page and was very lucky I came across this company. I highly recommend them with their phenomenal customer service and great craftsmanship. I would definitely use them again. Looking forward to staying cool this summer and beyond

Our 24 year old furnace stopped working properly in the middle of winter. Alex at Elkhorn was able to come out on a Sunday to diagnose the issue. He was detail-oriented, patient, and professional while explaining things to us and figuring out what we needed to do next.

Then Jon came over first thing in the morning to present us our options for a solution. He was both knowledgeable and personable and explained everything really well to us. We elected to buy a new one rather than repair the old one that had multiple major issues and hadn’t been cared for particularly well over the years. Their pricing was competitive and they came highly recommended so it was an easy choice to go with them.

Cody, JP, Jared, Alton & Miguel were there the very next morning to do the install. All very professional, skilled, and knowledgeable. Cody walked me through the gameplan, answered all my questions, and scoped everything out. Great guy and could tell he was experienced. They did an awesome job and completed the work quickly and neatly, leaving the space more clean than when they arrived. Now we have heat again and are cozy and happy! Will definitely use these guys again and would recommend them to anyone.

Chris was on time, very communicative, explained everything he was doing and even had other suggestions without making feel pressured. He was in and out under an hour and I would highly recommend him and Emporia again.

My furnace recently quit with a dying heat exchanger and I needed to quickly get it replaced. As the system is quite old I decided it was also time to replace the AC and home humidifier.

I took bids from several area contractors and was impressed with how Dale presented Emporia and the services and equipment they offer.

For me, as someone who will be in my home for many more years, the company doing the installation and maintaining the system is at least as important as the equipment being put in.

I elected to put in an entire new HVAC system, and they were able to get our heat going in one day and complete the installation on the 2nd day. Terrence and the other installers did a very high quality job with my system installation.

When I noticed that my new steam humidifier sounded noisy and texted Dale, someone reached out to me immediately and sent Chris out to resolve the problem the next day.

This appears to be a very solid company to do business with, so I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone else.

When my 20 year old A/C failed, I called Emporia Home Services. From the quote to the inspection, everything went so smooth. This team knows how to design and implement an HVAC system! After considering the options, we went with a new Trane dual-fuel heat pump system and it's working great. They tuned it to our home and can monitor if anything goes wrong or throws an error code.

Emporia is fantastic. Every single touch point and person was knowledgeable, kind and considerate. From the repair guys, Nick, and Chris, to Dale, their salesman for new equipment to Randy and Eric, the installers, every single person was exceptional. It’s rare that every person you encounter in a company is so great! We went with a new system (heat and AC and heat pump) and they even did the paperwork for the tax credit as well as a rebate from xcel that should save us around $7,000! We selected Emporia to replace a working 35-year-old gas furnace, and to add a new AC system to our home. The entire team was extremely professional and responsive. Dale spent a couple hours with us initially to provide a detailed bid, even taking the time to measure our living areas for accurate sizing of the system. The installation technicians Randy and Eric were exceptional, staying late into the evening to complete the furnace replacement in case we needed heat the next morning. Chris did the final AC hookup and checkout after our electrical mods were completed and returned quickly another day once I determined the new thermostat Wi-Fi was not working. Kris in Dispatch was always very prompt in responding to my calls for scheduling, etc. and filed all the rebate and warranty forms for me. The county electrical and mechanical inspectors found nothing to write up on final inspections, and one even commented that Emporia does great work.

Chris was genuine, trustworthy, and incredibly thorough. He communicated openly, paid close attention to every detail, and made the whole process feel easy and stress-free. You can count on him to be reliable, honest, and completely professional from start to finish!

Chris was on time, courteous, and clearly new his job very well. 40 yr old AC unit was making a loud screeching sound. He could have just said I need to replace the motor but instead he oiled it, cleaned out the unit and got it working great for a fraction of the cost. These guys are my HVAC company going forward!
