Javier got back to me soon after and said he could come by after finishing another job. He arrived, checked my heater, found a burned-out part, and replaced it. He also made sure everything was working smoothly before he left. In just a few hours from when I first called, my heater was running perfectly again. The staff here are extremely hardworking and honest, and their prices are very fair. Their work is always top-notch and done quickly. Everyone I’ve dealt with has been polite, professional, and knowledgeable about heater repairs. I reached out when my furnace suddenly stopped working, and even though it was a busy time for heater repairs, Sunset HVAC & Heating & Cooling quickly found a spot for me. Theodore came to check on the problem—he was friendly and professional, and explained everything clearly. On another occasion, Javier helped diagnose a different issue, and he was thorough and efficient. We’ve had several heating problems lately, but each technician who came out was really helpful. Luis and another team member installed a new boiler furnace for us and made sure everything was running smoothly—they really went the extra mile. Later, when our hot water heater stopped working, another tech arrived promptly, shared helpful information, and was very detailed with the inspection. The installation of the new water heater was quick and clean. We also had someone come by for routine maintenance on our air conditioner, and the work was done well. Absolutely seamless installation; warmth returned just in time.

BEWARE! My a.c. was freezing up on 4/12. They sent out 2 super young boys. They looked high school age. One came in with a container of freon, checked to see if the unit was still frozen. It wasn't bc I had turned it off earlier when I realized it was frozen. One of the guys didn't even know how to work my thermostat! It's a run of the mill, programmable one from WalMart...But, it was the other guy who was actually calling the shots so I gave them the benefit of the doubt & assumed he was just a helper. They were there all of 15 mins beginning to end. Charged $120. Basically put freon in & left. Didn't check for leaks or mention there could be a leak. So, a few hours go by & the house was still hot even though the ac was on full blast. I called back & told them whatever they did didn't work. They sent a Tech out, this time an older man. He goes back & forth between the inside & outside unit for about 30 mins. Then came & told me the guys put too much freon in it. He said he fixed it . It worked better after this but, not great. So, at the beginning of this week I noticed the ac was struggling hard in the afternoon to keep the house at 80* (I keep the thermostat set bt 76*-78*). It was able to keep up in the a.m. & at night at first but then after a day or 2 it wasn't able to even do that. But, it wasn't freezing up this time. Just not cooling well. Since the entire interaction with this company seemed shady at best, I chose to call a more reputable company recommended by a friend & business owner. The new company's Owner told me over the phone if the unit was freezing previously it would be due to a leak causing low Freon. Once the owner/tech arrived, after inspection & asking many questions about the ac unit itself & the 2 visits from AA, informed me that my compressor was damaged in a way that only occurs from being over filled with freon. Mind you, the unit is less than 3 yrs old & the only people to do anything other than turn it on & look at it, was AA All American Heat & Air. The new company thankfully did the leg work to figure out it's under warranty & called the co it was purchased from. Then they informed me of their cost to install, or that I can call AA again to see if they'd offer to do it (seeing they're young unsupervised employees damaged it), or call the original installer. My husband & I don't trust that AA would do a good job even if they acknowledge it was their fault. So, we're shelling out a few hundred bucks for the install by someone else. Thankfully, it's under warranty saving us potentially $1500.

If service is needed, representatives are responsive, professional, on time, and keep our unit in great running service. They also teach us about how to keep our unit in great shape so that we can understand how it is behaving/performing. You can't put a price on peace of mind, but you can put a price on an honest contractor and that's nearly the same thing. Joel, the owner/operator of HVAC Connection, is great. I had a new furnace and condenser unit installed by another company who did less than stellar work. A year later when I wasn't seeing the drop in power usage and efficiency I was hoping for I decided to give Joel a call.

It turns out my "closed" system wasn't really closed. It was full of leaks. The raised platform my furnace sat on in my garage had been subjected to numerous water leaks as it was shared by the water heater which had burst and leaked at various points in this home's 35 year history and at some point a previous owner had cut a 2' x 3' hole into this platform, presumably to drain it and help it dry out. Not only did the original installers not say anything about it, but they also hadn't properly sealed any of the joints in the venting system above the furnace and they hadn't insulated some of the lines.

Essentially, Joel completely uninstalled everything, demolished the platform, rebuilt the platform (he used to be a foreman and a journeyman framer for one of the largest home builders in Nevada), sealed and insulated the platform to make it airtight, bled the system (some of these terms may not be completely accurate as I am am not an HVAC tech), reinstalled everything, re-welded all of the connections, insulated what should have been insulated the first time around and got everything back up and running for less money than the original company charged me for the installation alone. When he was done it looked better, runs better and is finally saving me the 15 to 20 percent that I expected it to.

That was 8 or 9 years ago now. I've called Joel out several times over the years since and he's never overcharged me for anything which he could easily do since I don't have the first clue how these systems work. I always fear the worst when my AC stops blowing cold in the summer since my system is over a decade old at this point. Every time he's come out he always says it's something minor and an easy, inexpensive fix. I know that won't always be the case, but his track record gives me confidence that when he tells me it's time to replace the system, I'll have every confidence in his recommendations and his work.

I could not be happier or more impressed with HVAC Connection and give Joel and his team my highest recommendation.

Joel is amazing! He's been reliable, trustworthy (won't overcharge or sell something you don't actually need), honest, and most importantly, extremely knowledgeable since he installed a new unit 7 (?) years ago (word of mouth recommendation). Patiently answers all my questions (I like knowing how things work 😁) I'll never call anyone else, cause I know my home will be comfortable when it's 120 out, and cozy in the winter.
