Appliance Repair reviews in Columbus, Ohio

The freezer of my whirlpool french door refrigerator stopped working suddenly and wasn't keeping ice cream frozen. I have used Capital City Appliance Service before so I called to make an appointment for service. They had a convenient appointment the next day and the repairman arrived on time as promised. It took the repairman about 5 minutes to check and diagnose the problem . It took another 10 minutes to write up the service report. It was not good news. Because the refrigerator was 10 years old and would need multiple parts, the repairman said that the company would get back to me within 24 hours with an estimate for parts and labor. They did send that estimate and I chose not to get the refrigerator repaired. The compressor, evaporator, and other parts plus labor were going to be $1500. I could get a brand new refrigerator at that price. There was no guarantee that something else wouldn't break on it. I feel Capital City Appliance Service was being honest and up front with me on this situation. They probably could have fixed the issue but I opted to go shopping for a new refrigerator and I'm glad I did. The next day the refrigerator stopped making ice and wasn't keeping a safe temperature in the refrigerator or freezer. I made the right decision. I will call Capital City Appliance Service for my other appliances because I do believe they are a very reputable company. The office staff was very courteous and pleasant during my calls. I do recommend this company. I only paid for the service call for this refrigerator as I did not get the repair completed. I believe they deduct the service call if you have the appliance repaired.

Our technician Greg was the best, in fact he's quite Customer Centric. He arrived on time as scheduled, answered a few questions and went to work right away. In less than 20 minutes the problem with our new Zline stove was resolved - Kudos to Greg he's ABSOLUTELY the BEST! I'd highly recommend him to anyone :-)

Terrible experience. Tech came out to fix dryer that shuts off before cycle is dry. Told us I did not have the settings correct, showed us how to set it, and to clean our duct and that should solve the issue. We paid $99 and he left. Put in a load the following week, did as he said, dryer shut off. Called again for him to come out. Was told no charge. This time he came out, told me I did not have enough clothes in the dryer for the sensor to work and to have him come back so he could do a load with me. WHAT? I had two shirts, two pants, some socks and underwear in that load. He told me it was not enough and the sensor wasn't picking it up so it shuts off. Really? REALLY? Then he told my fiance the sensors were in the front of the dryer when they are clearly in the back of the dryer. After this call he tried to charge us again and I had to remind him that it was in the 30 days and we were NOT to be charged. I will NEVER use Capital CIty again. This was horrible service and a tech that obviously is a "dryer expert". NOT! Do better Capital City. Since when do I have to put an exact amount of clothes in a dryer for it to totally dry? My Maytag manual says NOTHING about that and people dry one or two things all the time.

I have used Capital City Appliance Service several times for my Kitchenaid refrigerator and Whirpool washer and dryer. From calling to make the appointment to completing the service they are very courteous and professional. Every repair service was done quickly and very thorough. I would recommend them for any appliance service.

The person they sent to look at the washer was not very professional. He walked right in, didn't put on booties over his shoes, ignored my little dogs, i tried to explain what was wrong. He said maybe your not holding start button down long enough. He was diagnosing it. I asked him what was wrong. He hadn't figured it out. He acted like i was bothering him. I told him I'm sorry I'll sit down and leave you alone. Then he told me computer board was not working.
Said he had no parts on truck and would be at least a week before it was delivered. I was taken aback. He was rude and unprofessional. Not a very nice person. I called to talk to the service manager. No call back. I would not let this company back in my house EVER! The reviews speak for themselves. -
This is the worse service repair I have received. My dishwasher had no power. I confirmed there was voltage to the dishwasher and had taken it apart. The repairman quoted me $400-500 prior to arriving indicating both the control board and panel would need replaced. He advised me to purchase a new dishwasher. When he arrived he simply looked at the dishwasher, again advised I purchase a new one. I was charged $110 for the service call when the repairman did nothing, while increasing the repair quote to $670 and stating the service call would not apply to a labor repair cost. I have purchased the control board myself and will replace it.

Reached out to the manufacturer of my fridge and was informed that will send out a Service Repair Company/ Guy, came out week before Thanksgiving
(Wednesday the week before) advised it was a temperature controlled module part ,upon walking out stated " I'm ordering the part and it'll be here before Thankagiving" Week of Thanksgiving approach no contact from the company to schedule repair nor status update on the part(s). Reach out to inquire to be told that the part(s) were not submitted and at this time the request will be expedite, 2 weeks later to get a TEXt saying I have a schedule date Friday to confirm the appointment 8-11:am. Upon requesting for a time after 12pm for Friday( 12/5) as asked what day and time will be feasible. To then recieve a text stating office is closed, follow up next day with a confirming day and time(12/5 after noon) to again be told office is closed, suddenly received a text stating that the appointment was confirmed for Friday between 8-11 or 12/8 or 12/9. Reach out to speak with a Rep(Nikki) and remain with a professional tone as it's 8:02am advised that I was reaching out to confirm appointment time for a repair what information was needed to confirm provided address and was then told " tomorrow between 8-11" asked why it could not be after noon as I previously requested that during text confirmation. To be told " I said that", and then asked what text. To proceed to explain the text messaging used to communicate and confirm/request appointment day and time. Was then cut off and I addressed the Rep as young lady and the rep became offended by the title I was addressing her as. Some would have taken as a compliment-🤷🏾♀️
Advised I would like to speak to a Supervisor or Manager to be told there is no one there and would take a message and continued to be unprofessional 😄
Like lady have a nice day.
Saying all this to say, kindness goes a long way, effective communication not texting is key.
Try better, you're the face and voice of the company at the end of the day -
They really need to hire younger people who want to work. We were sent here by Maytag through a warranty claim. The older man who came in here is miserable, grumpy, and probably needs to go home at 10 am on a Wednesday.
On top of that, he damaged our new washer. I took pics and videos as proof, but after seeing others' experiences, I don't want them back in my home, so I will not try to have them fix the issue. Highly DON’T recommend! -
Update in response to the business 1/27/2026: The company’s reply does not address the core issue and avoids the central problem: the washer was never repaired, at no point did my washer ever operate correctly after their “completed repair.” Replacing a belt that had nothing to do with the malfunction and then declaring the work “completed” is not a repair by any meaningful definition. It’s the equivalent of removing someone’s appendix for head pain — a procedure was performed, but the problem wasn’t addressed. The original problem remained exactly as it was before payment, before the visit, and after the belt replacement. I also did not decline further service — I was told I would have to pay the same additional access fee a second time, even though the original issue was never repaired. When I reported that the original issue persisted exactly as before, I was told I would need to pay the same additional access fee again before Capital City would return.
Sadly, the company’s response completely sidesteps the fundamental expectation in any repair transaction: that the appliance should work afterward. The business response talks about warranty terms and access fees but never acknowledges the outcome: the machine never worked after their visit. That is the issue and the basis of my complaint.
Original review 1/24/2026
Apparently, in this system a “completed repair” means the technician showed up, collected payment, and left. Whether the appliance ever worked again is treated as a separate issue requiring new fees.
I paid $400 to Electrolux for what was represented as a fixed-fee repair of my Electrolux washing machine, handled by Capital City Appliance. When Capital City Appliance arrived to perform the repair, the technician informed me that a second technician would be required in order to move the unit and access the components. I was then told that unless I paid an additional $135 for a second technician, the repair could not proceed. With no alternative offered, I paid the additional amount, bringing my total out of pocket to over $500.
Capital City Appliance later returned with two technicians a week later and informed me that the repair had been completed. However, when I first attempted to use the washing machine after the supposed repair, it showed the identical malfunction that prompted the service call. At no point did the machine operate correctly. This was not a case of an issue “returning”—the original issue was never repaired.
When I contacted them to report that the repair had not been completed, I was told I would need to pay another $135 for a second technician — the same configuration I had already paid for — before they would return. There was no acknowledgment that the machine had never been repaired and no willingness to stand behind the work that was paid for.
Consumers should be aware that under this model all financial risk sits with the customer, while Capital City Appliance treats the outcome as irrelevant. I would not recommend this company for appliance repair work. -
my first choice for appliance repair
From the start I knew Capital City Appliance Service was going to be good for the repair of our leaking dishwasher. Their website specified what appliances they work with and gave customers a voice in whether they wanted a diagnosis or diagnosis and repair--AND the cost of each.
The service tech was excellent, called to say when he would arrive, and went straight to work. He fixed the dishwasher's most likely source of the leak (a leaky brass connection--see photo), and went a step beyond (with my approval) to look for secondary causes of the leak. His "mirror-on-a-stick" located oxidation on another part, and replacing that part cured our leak. Before calling Capital City, I had faced the frightening possibility of needing to buy a new dishwasher. The cost of repairs is often so high that it's cheaper to buy a new one. But when you add the cost of installation and hauling away the old dishwasher, repairing the one you already have is a great option. Thank you, Capital City Appliance Service. You will be my first choice for appliance repairs. -
I had a great experience with Capital City Appliance Service!
We had an issue with our Whirlpool washing machine that fell under a sort of recall. The part needed for repair was on back order and we were told it would take 2-4 weeks for it to arrive. Luckily, they had the part in less than a week and my service was scheduled and completed in no time. Shoutout to Dillon for being super efficient, prompt and knowledgeable. He had the part replaced and fixed in less than fifteen minutes. He’s the man and deserves a raise.
Thanks Capital City! -
Keith from Capital City Appliance came out and had my washer fixed in no time. He knew exactly what he was doing, explained everything clearly, and carried himself with the kind of friendly, easygoing personality that instantly puts you at ease. Fast, knowledgeable, and genuinely pleasant to work with — you couldn’t ask for a better tech.
Warranty work so I didn't pay anything -
I received the utmost professional repair service for both my dryer and my electric range. The repairs were both timely and economically fair. Darron, the professional service tech provided excellent service and care. I appreciate how I was able to get the electric range fixed ASAP considering my initial contact with Capital City Appliance Service dealt with repair of my electric dryer. When my electric range not longer was working an appointment was quickly scheduled by the wonderful young ladies who handle scheduling. Highly recommend their service.

Do not recommend. Their customer service is atrocious.
I contacted Capital City Appliance to repair my gas stove and dishwasher. The stove smelled like gas when preheating, and one burner would not ignite. They replaced the oven ignitor, which was supposed to resolve the gas smell issue, but it did not. They then replaced the burner ignitor, which also failed to fix the problem. I ultimately had them remove the new burner ignitor because I was not willing to pay for a repair that did not resolve the issue.
Worse, during their attempt to fix the burner, they somehow caused all burners to smell like gas when in use — a problem that did not exist before their service visit.
When I called to report what happened, instead of addressing the issue they caused, they sent me a new repair estimate. I explained that I was working through my home warranty company and needed a detailed written explanation of what occurred, since their policy is not to speak directly with warranty providers. I forwarded the documentation they provided, but my warranty company had follow-up questions and requested a call. When I asked Capital City Appliance if they would make that call, they refused.
After going back and forth via email with Jenna, I called to speak with her directly. Instead of being transferred, I was told I had to speak with the service manager — who was “busy” — and that I would need to call back later. When I asked why they couldn’t simply have him return my call or allow me to hold, I was met with clear annoyance.
Eventually, Johnny (the service manager) got on the line without even identifying himself. He was rude, dismissive, talked over me, and showed no interest in understanding that their technician had created additional issues. I was simply trying to resolve a problem they caused and ask for the courtesy of speaking to my warranty company. He refused, was short and unprofessional, and abruptly ended the call without any attempt at resolution or follow-up.
It has now been over a week since the initial service visit. The oven still smells like gas when preheating, and now every burner smells like gas when in use. I followed up via email again yesterday — no response.
They fixed nothing. The situation is worse than when they started. This was a complete waste of time and an incredibly frustrating experience.
I would strongly advise looking elsewhere for appliance repair services. -
They were sent out to repair my dryer. They came diagnosed the problem and ordered parts for it. Took a little over a week to get the parts. When they came to put the parts in the dryer the technician left wires hanging out of the dryer between the front plate and the drum. The dryer was also making a noise worse than before the repair. So I called Capital City Appliance and they refused to send a tech out to fix their screw up without me starting a new claim with the insurance company. And now I have to wait longer for them to send a person out to repair their screw up. I don't think its too much to ask of them to fix their mistake. They were also very rude on the phone.

Not reliable. I called Frigidaire and they assigned the work that needed to be done in my home to Capital City, Appliance. Capital City Appliance provided a service window of 8:00am - 5:00pm. I did not work and made myself available the day they were supposed to arrive. Midway through that day, I received a text stating that they were rescheduling my appointment to the very next day with a service window of 2 PM to 5 PM. Needless to say, I was not going to miss another Day of Work for another no call no show. I could not believe with absolutely no Communication with me, Capital City Appliance took it upon themselves to reschedule my appointment. I called Frigidaire to make sure the rescheduled appointment was canceled. When I called Capital City Appliance, to do the same (after I received a text message stating they were coming the next day) their excuse was Frigidaire never let them know that I had already canceled the appointment. That may very well be, but, had Capital City Appliance reached out to me for a reschedule they would’ve known I had no intention of doing any business with them.
In my opinion, they should have reached out to me and to scheduled another appointment not just assume after a no call no-show that we would want them to service any of our products. They should also have apologized for a day missed wages. They can’t blame Frigidaire, because Frigidaire did not reschedule the appointment, (Frigidaire is not authorized to send text messages to a client on behalf of A service provider), Capital City Appliance should never have rescheduled an appointment, with no contact with the customer to find out if and when we wanted to Reschedule.
If you’re looking for a reliable service, Bypass Capital City Appliance and scroll to the next option. -
YOUR STAFF set the tone for this experience when they called to reschedule my appointment. I was ABRUPTLY told, “If this is about the rust on the bottom rack and the silverware basket, we cannot come back out—the claim has been denied,” without even allowing me to explain that I have a video showing the light not working at the end of the cycle, as I was previously asked to provide.
Additionally, there is a bulletin confirming a known problem with the water wall, which should be replaced. I paid for a protection plan and expect to be treated like a valued customer.
I understand you don’t decide coverage, but that’s not my concern here. My frustration is with the UNPROFESSIONAL way your staff treats customers and the clear preference for taking the CHEAPEST route instead of providing real solutions.
I filed a formal complaint to the retailer addressing concerns about the service provided, rather than issues related to warranty coverage.
Based on the below experiences, I STRONGLY ADVISE others to stay as far away from this "appliance repair" business. Their service is both unprofessional, and ineffective, and they do not stand behind their work or MANUFACTURER RECOMMENDATIONS.
The tine he supposedly fixed doesn't secure in place again. He put the Water Wall Bar back in place instead of REPLACING it per Samsung's bulletin.
When they called to reschedule an appointment, they were EXTREMELY RUDE saying that the rack rusting, and silverware baskets are not covered under the warranty. They DID NOT give me an opportunity to let them know I HAVE a video that Jerry told me to take of the intermittent issue with the sanitize light not lighting up when the cycle is done.
They just said, "We are at an impasse, and to find another service provider."
Bottom line - without CUSTOMERS you don't have a Business. -
I’ve been stuck with a dead microwave for over a month, being bounced between Lowe’s, Whirlpool, and this so-called “service company,”.
It has now been well over a month, and absolutely nothing has been done. The only thing I received was a random phone call from a technician who said he would be at my house in 15 minutes — with zero prior notice, no appointment, no confirmation. He just decided to show up in the middle of the day without checking my availability. And after that? Total silence. No updates, no scheduling, no repair, nothing.
This company is unbelievably unprofessional, disorganized, and completely careless.
Update:
I didn’t choose this company… Whirlpool dumped them on me after my brand new microwave died in about a month. I filed a service request and I got absolutely NOTHING from them. No scheduling, no updates, no visit, just dead silence.
And the best part?
They finally decided to respond only after I left a review. And instead of apologizing or offering real help, they told me they won’t even look at my microwave until I delete my review. Imagine that, a company refusing warranty service unless you clean up their reputation for them.
This is beyond unprofessional. This is a joke.
I’ve got three kids and a microwave that’s been dead for a month, and these guys are busy trying to silence customers instead of actually doing their job.
Would never recommend. If Whirlpool assigns you to them…. good luck, because you’re on your own. -
Update: Had another repair company come out and the issue was Capital City tech didn’t tighten the nut in the back corner. They voided my warranty and cause us to be without a dishwasher for months due to not tightening everything up when he finished the job. Then when it leaked instead of diagnosing and finding the leak decided to avoid a warranty. Do not use this company.
Original: They came out and repaired a fan that was bad under warranty. The fan needed ordered and they had to return. Upon return be replaced the fan and left but the dishwasher immediately started leaking when he left which it was not before. On the3rd visit they claimed it was mouse damage when the leak is from a metal part and caused warranty to void when we have pictures of damage with no evidence of mice.
Edit: Reply to Capital City: I have pictures also one that you can see in the review. Tech came out and found/reported zero mice damage and replaced the fan under warranty as stated above and when he replaced the fan he broke something causing a leak that was never there and blamed it on mice as previously stated. Only evidence of mice you have is some droppings but zero evidence of them chewing or damaging anything as there is none. I will upload more photos to show there is none mouse damage and as you can see from the uploaded photo it’s metal, what did a mouse do to metal? If there was damage why did he do the first repair call with no issue? It’s been since February due to me trying to resolve with the warranty that your lie caused issues with. Also why are you lying in the review reply that unit was not installed properly as that was never even in your report?
Edit 2: photos are attached of damage area where leaking. All metal things and clear no mouse damage. -
Came out same day, identified the problem, and repaired quickly.

Very happy with the service to my refrigerator. Sharif did a freat job.
