Hired Portland Fireplace and Chimney to come out and inspect my fireplace and stove and give me an estimate for repairing my chimney chase that is in dire need of repair. The technician Mike showed up right on time even after having to drive 50 miles out of Portland for his first job of the day. He remarkably found our place that’s hidden away down unmarked gravel roads without getting lost. He is without doubt the most friendly and professional service person I’ve worked with while maintaining our rural home since it was built 20 years ago. He took his time to explain everything thing he was doing and was meticulous in approach, recording model numbers and checking to make sure the units were installed correctly before inspecting them and heading up our challenging metal roof to take pictures of our chimney flues and record measurements and take pictures of the damaged chase so an accurate estimate for repairing can be completed. He then did a thorough cleaning and removed an incredibly large amount of creosol buildup that could have caused our home to burn down. I didn’t know that the cleaning would be included with the inspection, so was pleasantly surprised. I’m looking forward to working with this company further when they return to reside our chimney chase. So relieved that I don’t have to go up on that roof myself! I strongly recommend this company for your chimney and fireplace needs.

I was referred by my realtor Don Clemons. I called with questions about my gas fireplace insert. I had just bought the house and we didn't know anything about it. He took time out of his Saturday to talk with me for probably 20 minutes, text him pictures of my fireplace, and walk me through its operation, what parts do what with the components of the fireplace underneath the sheath where the gas valve and components are.

PFC is a really great, professional crew with uncommon attention to detail and quality.

Previous contractors left the chimney in a dangerous condition (house fire risk) and without any sort of weather cap. I hired PFC to clear the chimney and give an estimate. It was not very good news, but I could see they had been very thorough and fair in estimating the cost to repair and improve to our desired condition.

PFC did top-quality work throughout the job and stuck to their original estimate. They acted as general contractor for electrical work. When they discovered additional necessary repairs I was given everything I needed to make an informed decision. Their estimate for additional repairs was very fair and they stuck to that estimate too.

Chris, Arica, and Louis in particular were great communicators with awesome attention to detail.

Chris even remembered on the last day to repair a brick that was damaged before PFC ever came on site. He had offered to repair the brick the week before, remembered, and cared enough to follow through.

I not only recommend working with PFC, I would recommend asking them for referrals to other small businesses with similarly high standards!

This will be an odd way to begin a superlative testimonial, but I found out about this wonderful company when desperately seeking a chimney fix on the Coast. Getting many services on the Coast can be extremely difficult. Distance, travel, and weather all combine to make it exceedingly difficult to accomplish many necessary and ordinary house repairs, etc. I found this company via the internet and went straight to reviews. Good, Good, Very Good, Terrible! The terrible caught my attention, as it would yours. The lady had a very long written complaint but the extraordinary response from the owner Louis is what drew my attention. He was thorough, measured, composed, specific, and gracious. I was gobsmacked by his response and immediately phoned. Greeted by the wonderful Brittany, who assured me that Louis would not leave us abandoned, no matter what. Then Desirae, the Fabulous Melody, and Louis. What a truly fantastic experience, and having complete confidence that the job done by the very, hard working, knowledgeable, and brave (height & wind) Duck & Levi. I think you can tell that our experience has been not only thorough & smooth, but triple A in every possible way! I assure you, you will not be disappointed!

I found Portland Fireplace and Chimney when I was looking for someone to solve/fix the mysterious hole in my fireplace. I've had several other companies out the past 2 months, that were unable to do so. I talked to Melody on the phone who assured me they could help. Thank you, Portland Fireplace and Chimney, for sending Jay and Landon to rebuild our old chimnmeys. They were very creative building 40 feet of scaffolding on the side of our house with very little room. Both Jay and Landon are professionals with a great sense of humor. I had a great time with Portland Fireplace and Chimney! From my first phone call with Melody and Brittany, through my inspection with Mike, the chimney repair with Duck and Levi, all the way to the installation of my woodburning stove by Steven and Landon, the team was cordial, communicative, prompt, diligent, thorough, and knowledgeable. This was my first time having a chimney repaired or a fireplace installed, but it was a fantastic experience.

The new wood burning stove insert has been able to keep my house at a toasty 70ºF despite frigid temperatures outside, and the team recommend a fantastic firewood supplier to ensure I have enough fuel to keep it burning. All of them deserve raises, and this ought to be the first and last place you call if you need fireplace or chimney work performed.

Just moved into a new home and our fist experience owning a wood stove. Steven from Portland Fireplace was so knowledgeable and helpful. Even taught us how to build our first fire. Additionally, he made sure the wood stove was in good working order...even the outside chimney. Would use them again in a heartbeat!

We had a fireplace to repair, wall and stove to install and chimney cap to repair/install. Chris and Mike came and stayed till the job was done and even came back a couple of days later to just make sure the chimney was complete. Items not on the original work order but needing attention didn't get past them. We love our new stove and the wall you put in blends right in with the original!
Haven't tested it yet because it's not cold enough but the cats approve of the work.

Louis and his team came highly recommended and we must say, did not disappoint. We had a large project rebuilding inside the fireplace as well as chimney. They communicated and completed each step in a timely manner and were respectful of our property ensuring all areas were tidy. The fireplace restoration within the garage was expertly done. At the end of the day, we feel it was money well spent.

Steven was just here to provide an estimate for installing a gas insert in our upstairs fireplace. He was polite and incredibly knowledgable. He pointed out a number of issues with our chimney and fireplace that were missed during a prior assessment by another firm. Though the final quote was higher than we hoped, we are confident the job will be done right.

Contacted Portland Fireplace and Chimney to get a good chimney sweeping of our two-story hearth and information on how the system is doing. It is a family home where the hearth has seen safe fires for over a half century. Mike came to our home yesterday, and I had to assertively cajole him to sweep the one fireplace at all. Even then he didn't get on the roof and sweep the chimney from above. Mike did use a vacuum for about fifteen minutes from below on only one of the fireplaces. Therefore, after paying $658 I have only one fireplace that Mike said he cleaned. Yet, he also did not take any photos of that fireplace. Thus, I do not have before and after evidence of what he even did. Even though I asked Mike to do so, he didn't even clean the other fireplace. Mike spent the majority of the time trying to get me to pay him more money to retile our floors such that he wouldn't have to write us a bad report. This is even though Mike gave no rationale as to why we needed to get thousands of dollars of work done for a system that for half a century has worked just fine. I was seriously shocked at how blatant the conflict of interest came across for this so-called inspector. Frankly, after this experience, I wouldn't trust anything Mike of Portland Fireplace and Chimney put into a report anyway. I would like a refund of the money paid to this place, such that I can hire true professionals to work with us on making sure our fireplace system is as safe as possible.

I received the estimate on the spot and was able to review it with Mike. I can't wait to get the work done and to be able to enjoy my fireplace. I would recommend you give them a call!

Recently had some chimney work completed by Duck and the team at Portland Fireplace and Chimney. It was a fairly large project with a washing, full tuck-point, new flashing, new crown, and custom chimney cap. The crew did a great job, the office was very responsive and the final result looks great.

I just finished my first inspection and cleaning appointment with Mike Keller. He was incredibly knowledgeable and thorough, taking the time to walk me through every step of using and maintaining my woodstove insert. It is very evident that he’s an expert in this field, but he did an excellent job at explaining things in a way that was very easy to follow and understand. Sometimes having a new technician over to the house can be stressful but he put me at ease with his laid back and friendly demeanor. Prior to the service itself, I worked with Melody over phone and email. She was very thorough as well, clearly explaining the process and cost upfront. She was very communicative via phone and even reached out with a cancellation to get me booked sooner. All in all, from scheduling through service, I am very glad I chose to work with Portland Fireplace and Chimney!
