Very odd experience dealing with the service center here. I called to get my 2 year old hot water heater that they installed, repaired. The service center rep was extremely condescending. Throughout the call he spoke to me in a rude and belittling way. I asked to be put on a waitlist in case a sooner appointment came up and he scoffed and without responding to my question, said, we’ll see you on your appointment date. I canceled my appointment and won’t be working with them again. After looking at other reviews, I see that I’m not alone in my experience. They need to work on their communication and customer service skills.

What a disappointment this place has become. The employees are terribly rude and/or incompetent. I have had nothing but issues walking into that store. Shame on you George Moreland management for not providing proper training to your employees and for employing people who do not possess any customer service skills, especially your employee, Jason. Unacceptable!

Called for troubleshooting advice on a Delta product they didn't even sell me. They got Delta on the line and got a fairly complex issue fixed. Way above and beyond what I would expect. For a different issue, they had a Delta part in stock that no one else had in the Portland metro area. This was my first time, but I'll be back.

My tub faucet was leaking and after some YouTube videos I figured it was the faucet cartridge. They helped me identify the parts, set me up with the tools I needed and I was able to fix it!!! All for WAY cheaper than expected. Great service (thank you lady with the short hair!!!). I will be back for all my plumbing needs.

I was very disappointed with my experience at the SE Portland Showroom location. I've been here twice, have dealt with three different people, and got the same cold, unfriendly, and unapproachable feeling each time. So much that I felt I was burdened to be shopping there. Whenever possible I shop locally to support small businesses, instead of buying online. My first experience was when I was buying a faucet cartridge. I came with questions and was left confused. I decided to do some research and finally found the part I needed. Instead of buying on Amazon I called and asked if they could order for me. They ordered the part and said it would take two weeks. I had to ask if they would call me when it arrived and they said yes. 4 weeks went by. I decided to call and they told me the part had already arrived a couple of weeks back. Picked up the part and realized the part they ordered was different from what I requested, and on top of that, the manufacturer sent them a different part because the part they had ordered didn't even exist. I returned the part and explained they ordered the wrong one. No questions were asked, not even if I wanted to order the right one. No apology either. Ordered my part on Amazon and got it two days later. Given that practically everything can be bought online now, you'd think they would emphasize customer service above all else. Guess not.

If you like to be gaslit by incompetent sales associates, then this is the place for you.

I have a somewhat unique kitchen faucet that required a very specific part. The part is still in production and the company that makes the faucet supports this first iteration (of three) of the parts for this faucet. Before calling this George Morlan location, I spoke to the manufacturer to make sure I was getting the correct part ordered. I went back and forth with the manufacturer a few times to make absolutely certain. Because the manufacturer doesn't sell directly to the public, I had to call a local supplier to order the part for me.

I called George Morlan on SE Foster, explained the situation precisely to Jim, going into the exact amount of detail that the manufacturer went into with me. Jim assured me that we were all good and he'd order the part. It was pretty urgent as we had a horribly leaky faucet, so I was thrilled that this was getting taken care of quickly.

Fast forward to my actually going to the store to pick up the part and I see it's the wrong part number that Jim has ordered. I remind him of everything I told him on the phone prior to ordering. Instead of apologizing for his mistake (which would have been fine - mistakes happen!), he then proceeded to gaslight me, trying to show my on a schematic of a faucet that wasn't even my faucet that the part I needed didn't exist. Then he claimed he called the manufacturer and that they told him to order a different part number to what I wanted (guess what? I called the manufacturer and they said no such thing). Then he told me the part I wanted wasn't in the system - but prior to ordering, I told him that the manufacturer advised that that might be the case and to call them to get it into the system. But no, Jim thought he knew better and took absolutely no responsibility for his mistake.

So, I got a refund and a sarcastic "good luck!" from Jim and then I found another supplier, who ordered the right part (with the exact same information that I shared with Jim), no worries at all. And it was cheaper and faster with the other supplier, too.

I don't think my review will have any effect on this ridiculous level of customer support, as George Morland is, mysteriously, a household name in Portland, but I wanted to share to hopefully prevent others from experiencing the level of gaslighting, incompetence and nonsense that I had to deal with. GOOD LUCK!

I come to this location all the time as a plumber, and I have spent tens of thousands of dollars here over the past year. I am disappointed to have to write this, but it is the truth. The staff here is very friendly and knowledgeable but I had an issue with a new water heater that I purchased here and it was installed correctly by me, so they forwarded me to the service department and the receptionist was incredibly rude and she refused to help me out with a NEW water heater I just purchased from them. It’s a shame that when they are sell you something it is all smiles, but once you need them they’re rude. Sad!

Pretty bad customer service. Guy was very unfriendly, seemed hungover and was argumentative with nearly every request I had for the parts I wanted to buy. Left and went to Home Depot where I easily found the things I needed. It's not worth trying this hard to spend money here. I bet these guys make more money on inflated water heater installs and high end fixtures, but you're also losing a lot of future business when people come in for $50 in parts and get treated like dirt

Best customer service over the phone went out of there way to help and guide me in the right direction 100% recommended

These guys are awesome! I've talked to Jason twice now for two different plumbing questions and he has been so knowledgeable and helpful each time. The first time was to create a custom piece to draw off my refrigerator waterline for a diy auto-fill mechanism for my breville espresso machine. I showed Jason a couple of pictures and described the problem--he went to the back and five minutes later had a custom piece that I couldn't have created on my own. I'd spent weeks trying to figure out a solution on my own at Home Depot and online to no avail. I can't believe I could've saved myself hours of confusion, frustration, and not to mention a lot of money, if I had just talked to my local guy. Super fair price and quick! The second time I was trying to figure out how to route my countertop dishwasher outlet hose which is not a standard size to my garbage disposal--Jason told me to try a free solution at home and then directed me to a different store if that didn't work because they don't have a part that would work. Love the integrity and the help, even though he didn't make a buck! Super appreciate his expertise and problem solving!

I was sorry to read that my neighborhood plumbing supply store customers have had some bad customer service experiences. I sometimes shy away from patronizing businesses as a result, but I've had nothing but positive experiences thus far. Went in today and was immediately greeted and pointed in the right direction. I was even given a significant discount from the marked price! Thanks, fellas.

Really disappointed in their service. I went in there looking to see if they had or could help me find a low profile sink drain and brought the part that I wanted to replace. It wasn’t the fact that the employee I talked to said no they don’t have anything that could help me but that he didn’t even look at it, want to see the pictures or measurements I had with me. Just sat behind the counter without showing any interest or effort in helping. I’ve been to this store a few times and they’ve always been helpful even if they didn’t have what I needed. It was like talking to a brick wall. Maybe he was having a bad day but it made me feel like going there was a complete waste of time.

Terrific customer service Knowledgeable Efficient Well priced too. Sent me home with a round seat, rather than the oval replacement I came in with . Guess I spoke too soon and will need to make another trip… ugh

Always had a good experience. Went back to them because of that. This time they installed the wrong water heater even though we specifically agreed on a particular model. They did not complete the installation, left the condensation hose attached to the previous water heater hanging. They replaced the power-vent venting with a strange venting system, not sure it's up-to-code. They left deep scratches in my cedar deck taking the old unit out. Left a pretty big mess in my basement that I had to clean up. And the service manager promised to call me back and discuss all of this but never did. It's sad that the place that installed the best water heater I have ever owned (so amazing, still going strong after 17 years of heavy use) decided to phone this install in. I now have to recommend that you take your business elsewhere.

Two separate employees could not identify my kitchen faucet. It turns out it is a Moen Alder 87604. One of the employee was super emphatic that it was not a Moen faucet. So I went from driving six blocks to driving across town get a replacement sprayer for it.

I've been coming back to George Morlan for all my plumbing projects for 25+ years. Sure you can get plumbing supplies at Lowes/Home Depot, but you won't get service like this or the incredibly knowledgeable staff at GM.

Thank goodness for knowledgeable sales people like Jason H! George Morlan has been my local plumbing store for 18 years, typically with helpful sales people that have pointed me in the right direction. Over the years the one reoccurring issue has been our kitchen sink hot water handle going through bib washers every few months, and always felt like it should & needed to be turned off a little bit further each time.
Over the years I have brought in the stem, seats & washers for inspection & asking for help, and have been told the seats were fine, replaced them once and continued to tear through washers. A week ago I left frustrated after showing the stems, washers & seats when a sales person, after bringing out seats that were not going to make contact with the washer basically pulled out the box of seats and said pick what you want when I was asking questions about how they are supposed to fit instead of pulling over someone that might know.
When I returned today because the stem threads had started to leak when the faucet was on, Jason H immediately recognized that the seats I had, even though identical to the seats they had replaced, were not the correct ones for the stems. He found the right ones & replacement stems that are an exact match for what we have (which I had previously been told were not available & best bet was looking at hippo hardware for something similar)!
Came home, put the new seats & stems in and from the first twist to the off position I can tell there is much better washer to seat contact and a firm stop!
18 years of kitchen sink frustration quickly & efficiently solved by a Jason H's attention to detail & knowledge. Thanks Jason!

I always go to George Morlan first. Came in today looking for a fairly old Sterling part. The extremely helpful rep behind the counter searched and searched and used an old book and finally found what I needed. He didn't have it in stock and wasn't exactly sure how long it would take to have it delivered to them: when I found it online in stock somewhere he told me that I should order that right away so that I wasn't waiting a long time wondering where my parts would be.
Knowledgeable, friendly, helpful: this is why I always go to George Morlan first.
