Plumbing reviews in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The best!!! I literally can't say enough good things about this company. First they got out to us the morning after Christmas when a pipe of ours froze and burst and discovered the problem, and had it fixed and water back on very promptly.
More recently, we noticed a weird smell (not gas) coming from our dryer and oven burners and called Peoples Gas to find out we had an outside gas line leak that was in the process of "powdering off" (what we smelled). They turned off the gas and said we needed to get a plumber out to our house to replace the line.Without specific gas line insurance, they told us to expect it to cost around 3-5k. The day after it happened, a different plumbing company came by to give us our first quote before the Poillucci guys arrived. This plumber told us it was a 4-5 day job requiring 8-10 men. They also told us there were water and electric lines running next to our gas lines making it dangerous to dig around which necessitated the following price:18k . We were shook.
The Poillucci team arrived later that day, the same two guys who promptly fixed our water issue a few months prior, took a few pics, quoted us 4.5k (exactly what we were expecting) and said they could be back the next morning at 8am to fix it. They also informed us that the water and electric lines were NOT running anywhere near the gas pipe like we had been told. These guys arrived the next morning at 8am and had the gas line replaced by 10:30am!!! People's Gas came to inspect and turn everything back on and the one guy looked at me and said that they did a "fantastic" job. They had the holes refilled and were gone by 2pm. Now I can take a hot shower. These guys do not mess around. Call them for your plumbing needs!! They are honest, hardworking, efficient, and SO LEGIT. Do not waste your time with any of these other companies. Poilluci Plumbing is literally the best! -
We have used Poillucci Plumbing since 2009. We have had a bevy of problems in our old c.1926 house. They have always been able to figure out what was wrong - sometimes it takes some detective work - and do the needed repairs with a minimum of wear & tear. Reliable, great service.

Could not have been more pleased with the service received. Excellent communication and customer service. Poillucci was dispatched to us from our home warranty program. We received a prompt call from the office to schedule our service appointment. Prior to the visit the office called and explained what items were not covered by our warranty and what our cost would be if those items needed repaired - this was awesome customer service - no surprise bills or charges. The crew that arrived was on time and did all the work they were supposed to - they reviewed what they were going to do before work began and reviewed what they did after. They cleaned up and no items were left behind. Would definitely call for future plumbing needs and will be recommending to our family and friends. Fee paid was our warranty deductible.

I have used Poillucci on at least 3 occasions in the past year or two (so much going on I may have even forgotten something), so I feel like it is finally time to leave these wonderful people a thorough review. Bottom line up front: I have been extremely happy with every aspect of working with them: the scheduling, explaining options, getting estimates, scheduling quickly, availability, affordability, and especially excellent quality.
I have used them to (1) install a new vanity sink/drain and anchor to the house, (2) repair/replace an outside faucet that was a victim of PGH winters, (3) hook up my fridge to a new water line, and (4) remove old toilet and install a new (more complicated) Toto toilet/washlet.
To go a little more in depth on the stuff I mentioned up front: Scheduling - always easy to reach someone and staff did a great job of explaining possible services, setting me up for multiple things during 1 visit (#3 & #4), and getting back to me with rough estimates (for a specific toilet model install, for example). They have had good availability (I wont be too specific since things change) and were able to come out relatively quickly for each visit, which was especially appreciated when my outdoor faucet was leaking. The estimates have always been straightforward and affordable - again, I dont expect this to always be the case but it usually ended up below the original estimate. Based on the amazing quality and efficiency of work done, the prices were more than fair and IMO affordable. Lastly, every time they have done work for me, I have been beyond impressed with the quality.
When I scheduled the vanity/sink install, I didn't even think about anchoring the sink, but they asked me and went that extra step to make sure I had a long-lasting quality install. I was actually in awe of how amazing the new copper water line and connections (for my fridge) look, especially for how quickly everything went in. Lastly, they banished my terrible terrible old toilet to the plumbing graveyard and installed a new Toto + washlet, which consisted of 3 different boxes full of parts and instructions - again installed quickly and expertly. They have significantly transformed the plumbing situation at my home and I look forward to using them as a trusted plumbing partner moving forward. Thank you for giving a duck! (Soft stress relief duck also appreciated)! -
We had a complete main line blockage that our usual plumber didn't fix correctly, so we were without working drains for 2 days. Our insurer then sent out this company, and they called to set a same day appointment less than an hour after I spoke with the insurance agent. Within 24 hours it was fixed. Our home is very old and finding the outside lines was a real nightmare because the trap access was literally buried in the ground. Unlike the other guys, these guys were persistent until they found it and then they fixed it properly. Definitely recommend.

The prices charged are ridiculously high and they took advantage of my partner who was completely unaware of the going rate for said job when I was not home. Also, they did not provide a formal itemized quote and simply said "$500 is the going rate for this job, do you want to proceed."
The total all in cost to replace a water pressure regulator valve was $500!
Lets break it down....On average the part in question ranges from $150-$200 at the big box stores, so lets assume a 25% markup to $250 (ridiculous in my opinion).
The job took ~30 minutes and TWO people came. $250 in labor for a 30 minute job, I must be in the wrong industry. Charging someone double the labor because you bring two people to do a one person job is borderline unethical.
Do not use this company. I used back of the napkin math, inflated my markups, accounted for double labor to finally get to the final cost.
UPDATE: I had completely forgotten about this until the owner replied publicly 4 months later omitting key details. My partner tried to contact the company three times over two days time immediately after the job. We posted this review because we wouldn't want others to feel pressured or taken advantage of in a similar situation. They called back days later saying they wished we would have called before posting a negative review. They also flat out refused to give an itemized breakdown when requested. I've used other plumbing companies since and that is SOP. Let their response (4 months after the incident when they already spoke with us about it) speak for itself, folks! -
Do not use this company, they will tell you don't be fooled by other plumbers, they will rip you off. Thats just what they did, rip me off. I was charged 540$ for a dye test and pressure valve on my water meter (which i needed, another bid for same service was 230$) and then they held my dye test for ransom and would not send to Shaler Twp (when it passed) unless they did a 540$ unnecessary fix to the fresh air vent to the sewer to make above grade. Do not use, trust or call this business!

had this company come up as part of Peoples Gas Insurance, there was a clog under the floors, they did clear the clog by drilling holes in the outside drain and plunging the toilet but it was not completely unclogged cost $325( to plunge the toilet) two months later and several hundred more dollars it was done right by Roto Rooter who ran a camera down the line to see what the problem was before clearing the drain. we now have a clear idea of what needs to be done to correct the problem when this Company just slapped a band aid on the issue. for $325 dollars Roto Rooter ran a camera and cleared the clog completely not leaving stuff behind they showed the home owner the entire time what was going on. again same money but much better service from Roto Rooter who this company just told me on the phone is not a real plumber... no they are better

I’ve been using Nick for over ten years. His guys show up on time, do quality work and it’s always a fair price. Nick is a good honest person.

They replaced our fill valve and other boiler repairs in Nov 2024. They were efficient and diagnosed/fixed it within the same day. Cost about $640. Other known brand plumbers not so reasonable. They are our go to plumber and I advised a few people to contact them for their repairs.

As a long time real estate professional I have worked with most household-name vendors across the city, Poillucci Plumbing stands out as a company that cares and is consistent. I appreciate their process and have enjoyed everyone I’ve worked with. They’re my go-to for anything plumbing related.

I had a plumber come by and totally overlook the trap that was causing backup in basement. He didn’t fix issue and gave me a nightmare scenario about digging up sewer line the main. I had Polucci come over next day, and Bill identified and solved the problem in minutes. I can’t thank them enough and will certainly use them again in the future. 5⭐️

I'd give them a 500-star rating if I could. We had a frozen pipe break during a weekend away and came home to discover a flood in our lower level from water pouring out for over 24 hours. The ceiling drywall was caving in; walls and flooring were destroyed. We instantly shut water off -- and assumed it may take days to get a plumber to fix due to the extreme temps in the 'burrrrghh in winter 2026 (with likely many having the same issue.) But we called Poilucci at 8am Monday morning. Their professional office took our call, showed compassion, and then had their plumbers onsite by noon. Incredible!! They instantly reviewed, cut away the drywall, located the culprit pipe and immediately repaired it. We are so grateful!! Thank you Poilucci Team!!

I have been using Mat Mertz Plumbing for my plumbing and heating needs for the past 5 years and they are always SUPER professional and nice. Today, the mechanic (Shawn M) came over to help me diagnose a complicated leak due to a frozen stack pipe. Shawn was incredibly helpful and attentive, even though he could not start working on the issue yet (the stack is not fully thawed yet). Plus, since I am a returning customer, Mat Mertz decided they will not even charge me until their next visit!

Jim from Matt Mertz Plumbing came to my home to replace a burst pipe inside the dining room wall in my 80-year-old house. Jim was prompt, polite, friendly, and professional. He explained in layman's terms what needed to be done, quoted a fair price, and completed the work in a timely manner. While he had the wall open, he even checked the unbroken pipes to ensure they were in good shape and we wouldn't have similar problem again in the near future. In the course of his work, he was in and out of my house several times, and was always considerate to ensure that my three cats didn't escape. I would gladly recommend Jim and Matt Mertz Plumbing to anyone.

Amazing service! Derek from Matt Mertz responded immediately when my water heater started leaking one night - within the hour a new water heater was installed with the emergency shutoff valve I needed and the old one completely drained and taken away. Derek’s speed & expertise made the after-hours rate a non-issue. Thanking my lucky stars for Matt Mertz!

I'm so happy I called Matt Mertz! I was put straight through to a scheduler and had an appt early the next morning (I didn't need emergency service so it could wait). Brian was awesome; on time, quick, and super professional. It was my first plumbing issue in my house so i was a little anxious about what was to be found and the cost of repair. The service was SO fast and the pricing can't be beat! they are definitely my plumbers from here on out!

Recently had a project that I needed help with so I contacted Matt Mertz plumbing through a recommendation from a friend and recieved excellent service! They sent over Rob who looked at my problems and made me feel assured that my troubles were over! He replaced my leaking main water shut off valve to my house with a valve that is really easy-to-use! He was fast, efficient and everything was clean and pretty when he was done! I will DEFINITELY be using Matt Mertz plumbing for all of my future plumbing issues! Thanks Matt for the great service!

Rob did an amazing job for us installing a new water heater and bringing the old connections up to code. He was clean, efficient and really cared about getting the project done properly. He even went out of his way to patch a vent hole because he was worried about carbon monoxide leaking. Couldn't ask for a nicer guy. We will definitely have him back to do some other jobs.

We have used Matt Mertz Plumbing twice now, both very good experiences. Last week they turned what could have been a complete disaster into a minor inconvenience. We got a same day appt, Rory explained everything in a way we could understand, and left our home as clean as before. We will definitely recommend them!

Had the misfortune of having my main water supply line fail but having worked with Matt Mertz plumbing on a previous occasion I knew who to call and depend on. Thanks particularly to Joe Tyler and the crew for a professional installation which was very difficult due to grade of property and rock . Thanks also to Diane and Bob for all of your support, much appreciated. I would not hesitate to use Matt Mertz plumbing again and would gladly recommend them to anyone.
