Peter and his team at McCullough did an absolutely amazing job on our AC replacement and installation. They had perfect timing, chose the best particular components that were needed, and followed up with a quality check immediately... all above the expectation! High recommend!

This is a fantastic service provider! McCullough installed an entirely new system in my home about 2 years ago, and I was panicking when I noticed it started to shut off every night. I called to have someone come out to troubleshoot and Eric was at my door later that same day. As a new homeowner, I didn’t know the steps to properly maintain my AC unit, but Eric saved the day. He flushed the clogged condensate line and shared maintenance tips so I can avoid another AC emergency. This team is fast, reliable, and trustworthy.

The guy was very good. His suggestions were spot on. Everything went smoothly. Courteous and polite...only negative is not of him, but the billing department. I kept getting emails, text that I need to pay the invoice when I paid the invoice onsite.

Great experience! Our AC went out and McCullough was quick to come out and diagnose the issue. Narrowed it down and didn’t try to give me an inflated estimate and cost as other contractors did. The technician, Henry, was great to work with! Very clearly and thoroughly explained what the issue was and gave us a clear way ahead.

Really helped me out after a freon leak in my 14-year old AC. Helped by providing me a very competitive price on a variable heat pump install with auxiliary gas furnace, which helps me be environmentally friendly while not having to worry about what happens when it gets too cold. After a few months, I had some issues with cooling when it should have been heating that I was trying to troubleshoot and couldn't figure out.
They sent Shawn, a really helpful and friendly tech over and he was great. Took some time for him to figure out, too, but because it was due to the install, it was fully covered on the warranty and I didn't have to pay any extra - got it fixed in 1 day turnaround time, including him coming back before his usual shift the 2nd day to make sure there was continuity of service. Highly recommend for HVAC install / repair - avoids some of the questionable methodology of handymen I've used in Austin. -
Kyle Stirling came by very quickly after I notified McCullough HVAC that my new system’s thermostat wasn’t working properly. He knew exactly what the problem was and had it fixed in a matter of minutes. He was prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, and was able to explain precisely what he was doing. Highly recommend!!

Shaun was great! He showed up after hours & resolved the issue with my heater in a matter of minutes - he also helped me seal up a vent over my microwave After a dead squirrel was removed by pest control.. I would’ve had to buy the specialty tape you guys use & do it myself, but he was Super Nice & did it for me! It Wasn’t his problem & I truly appreciated his help, he’s a top notch professional & I wish All service companies had such Exceptional employees! THANKS SO MUCH, he gets 10 stars! 😁

Service technician knowledgeable, efficient and courteous. Problems were outlined, suggestions for repairs given, and written report received . I have been pleased with the straightforward approach both times I have had service done. I can easily recommend McCullough to anyone who needs air conditioning evaluations and repairs.

I had McCullough come out initially for a diagnostic and repair, but learned how expensive a new blower motor and board was and decided on replacing the whole system. All around the experience was great.
Earlier in the year I checked with two other companies on replacing the system because it was already at 12 years of age - (I used "The Chill Brothers" and "ABC Home"). The companies that came by before were a lot more predatory with sales, pushy about how bad we needed a new system, techs were a bit rude, and prices were over $20k.
With McCullough the initial tech who came out was refreshingly honest and informative. The follow up salesperson was knowledgeable, not pushy, and worked with getting us any potential discount. Then our installers, Richard and Arthur, were such an incredible duo. Both Richard and Arthur worked all day through the evening to get everything done correctly without cutting corners (even with our complicated old house electrical issues). I would definitely choose them again. Thank you Richard and Arthur and the whole team at McCullough! -
UPDATE: To reiterate, go to Service Wizard. They request a second opinion after they provide their services (this makes much more sense right?). The technician was not polite. Buyer beware.
McCullough Heating & AC was highly recommended to me. I contacted them as a second opinion for a situation where mold had grown in my HVAC system. I emailed them proof that another company came out (this was required to waive their service fee) but when the technician arrived, he was aggressive, condescending and didn’t listen to what I was asking. Turns out that the company wanted my other HVAC quote before their visit so they could look at it line by line. Kind of defeats the purpose of a second opinion right? I went instead with Service Wizard who wanted the quote after the visit (and never bugged me for it). Go with Service Wizard! They are friendly, respectful, professional and know their stuff! Evan is a very knowledgeable technician. -
I was experiencing so issues with my thermostat so I gave McCullough Heating and Air Conditioning a call. My appointment was scheduled for November 3, and Kyle gave me a call advising he would arrive in approximately 30 minutes. Upon arrival Kyle took time to listen to my concerns with the thermostat. He made a few adjustments and to ensure that the thermostat was switching between hot/ cold and and all my questions regarding my thermostat. Thanks Kyle.

Super quick mntce appointment getting my system checked and ready for Winter! I am very pleased with the level of expertise that McCullough tech -Matthew -provided me today. This company is by far the BEST Heating and AC that I have ever used (in 27yrs) and I am so glad I found them!

Excellent replacement experience. I had a heat pump replaced. The old one was placed in 1994. It was replaced without any issues, it works far better than the old one did, even when it was new, and the cost savings on the electric bill is extremely notable.
If I could give 6-7 stars, I would. -
Leaving 4 rather than 5 stars to encompass the entire process. The HVAC tech, Kyle did a stellar job. Efficient and knowledgeable. However the in-office customer service team needs some support, I found them to be disengaged and disorganized. After the diagnosis and paying half the bill, I had to reach out for an update 3 days later since I had not heard from them. Then when the service was scheduled for the repair, the gas valve was supposed to be delivered to my home address. Kyle shows up baffled the part was sent to their main store, needing another tech to drive it over. I even tried to confirm via text with the customer service rep, but they left me on read for that specific question. Needless to say, all is well and I have heat, but if you are paying a hefty price for services, they need to be organized. Shout out to Kyle.

I had y'all out twice this past week. Two different techs each on a different day. I think the first was Eric. The second was Sean Cavanaugh. I thought my heater just wasn't working like it should. They both assured me it was. It just seemed to be running constantly and I was still cold. The air coming out of the vents seemed cold to me. Sean checked the air temp coming out and it was normal for an electric heater. He explained that it's just so cold outside it was going to take a lot to keep my house warm. I knew that but for some reason I just didn't think it should run as long and as often as it was. They were both very patient with me and I appreciate both of them. They were kind, respectful and courteous. I am elderly and I was so cold. I guess I was near panic. They helped me by saying to just turn the heater up to where I'm comfortable and let it run. So that's what I've done and I will be fine. Thank you for your help and thanks to both of those young men you sent.

Called at 11:30pm the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, and yes we’re hosting on Thursday. Henry was at our door before 9am the next day. He was quick, knowledgeable, professional, and did what he could to take extra steps to ensure we would be set for a while- without us ever feeling pressured or that he was upselling. Our issue was fixed before 11. We’ve had other service providers in Austin, and they are consistently the most affordable on top of great service.

Had them install a new HVAC system in my home last year. Since then, they have been out no fewer than 10 times to fix various things wrong with it. They redid the ductwork at great cost, only for another technician to undo it then yet another technician to redo the initial change. They are polite and prompt with service calls but seemingly powerless to actually identify what's wrong.

They sold me a comfort package for $28 per month for a year which included biannual inspections. I sold my house and they would not transfer the package to the new owner, they would not let me transfer the package to my new house and they would not let me cancel. I had to pay off the remaining 7 months of the package. I found it unbelievable that they were willing to lose a customer rather than $160 for which they did no work!

When my heat and air went out this winter, I dreaded to call an HVAC company because I didn't know who I could trust. After a search of companies in the Austin area, I chose McCullough Heating and Air because of reviews and the fact that it is a family-owned business. I'm glad I did! I was thoroughly impressed by Mike M., the service technician who diagnosed and performed the repairs. His knowledge, integrity, and professionalism were very evident to me by the time he finished the work.
I am most definitely calling McCullough Air and will specifically ask for Mike M. the next time I need A/C maintenance or repair.
Thank you! 👍🙌 -
All trust is gone. McCullough was supposed to be an honest service company but threw that all away. When I was out of town my furnace died and I told my wife to call McCullough. They found “bonus” work to do that was completely unrelated to the furnace and sold it using FUD like all the dishonest service companies. The most egregious act was charging $400 for a 1” piece of foam to replace another piece of foam that did not need to be replaced at all. $400!! Never get involved with this company.

This is the only company I have written 3 reviews for (ever!), and deserved based on superior service for 6 years, and especially since Shelton Shepperd has been phenomenal the past 2.5 years. Clayton came today and solved a thermostat connection problem, this was his second visit in 4 months. The problem was not his fault, it was Carrier, but he solved it. This company takes care of its customers.
