We had a great experience working with Rainier Heating and Cooling and couldn’t be happier with their service. Mike recommended JNK Electric to help run wires from our attic furnace down to the first floor—an essential step in replacing our old wireless thermostat with a Nest unit. JNK did a fantastic job running the wires, and Rainier seamlessly picked it up from there.
Mike and his team completed the final connection and installed the Nest thermostat perfectly. The whole process was smooth, efficient, and done at a very reasonable price. Communication was excellent throughout, and everything was handled professionally from start to finish.
We truly appreciate the recommendation and the great work. If you’re looking for a heating and cooling company that’s dependable, knowledgeable, and easy to work with, Rainier Heating and Cooling is it.
Thank you, Mike and team! -
Steve was great. He came up with several options for expanding our ductless heat pump system to cover our whole house. He didn't try to sell us on more than we needed. He let us know that our smaller unit still had years of life and could be included as part of the solution. All the companies that gave us estimates were competent, and understood the basics of what was needed, like making sure the electrical system could support a bigger system. It was Steve's solutions that I liked. Some electrical expansion was needed, but they also disconnected the outdated electric heaters in order to fully use power we already had. There was an attention to detail, not only with technical solutions, but also with the way it was going to look. He had a good plan for the placement of the lines on the outside of the house. Inside, outside, and even hidden places like our crawlspace and closet, were done right. When their team installed the system, everything was level, lined up nicely, and arranged in a practical way.

I'm staying out of the garden with record-high temps today, so this feels like just the right time to finally post a review of this highly recommended company.
We're so happy about the decision we made to replace our 20-year-old gas furnace with a new heat pump. The rebates were a huge incentive! We started the process of getting bids in March 2024 -- and stalled out because of a death in the family. We got back to it in April, and had three bids in hand. Somehow I still wasn't satisfied with the options we had. That's when I did a little more research and found Rainier Heating & Cooling. The reviews don't lie!
Getting a bid from them was painless; we loved Steve's style. He's informative, respectful, and presents your options without being pushy. My follow-up questions were answered promptly and the bid was clear and competitive. Other bids were from a company that offered a unit with less power that would need to work harder, and one with a shorter warranty than the 12-year one that Daikin offers, and one that was almost $3K more.
The crew (Austin, Darnae, and Terren) arrived on time and were all personable and respectful of our property. The installation was completed that day, and Austin gave us a thorough overview of the system and spent extra time answering our questions.
We're so impressed with Rainier's customer service and response times; we'll definitely stick with Rainier for annual servicing of our unit. -
They were friendly and very helpful when I called in. Their technician Alex was knowledgeable and very helpful. He fixed our problem quickly and gave me the education I wanted on my unit. I highly recommend this company.

Our tenant informed us the ductless Heater-A/C wasn't working (actually, it hadn't worked all Summer, but that's another story). Now that it's October, things were getting a bit chilly for him.
I searched for companies on-line, and got a few recommendations from friends.
The reviews for Rainier Heating and Cooling compelled me to give them a call.
What a good "call" that was.
First contact was with Austin, who came right out and troubleshot the issue. While it wasn't the news we all would hope to hear:
"I can fix that while I'm here, easy peasy", it was a complete and well presented solution to the problem that was reasonable and timely.
He had a crew available on the following Monday (this was Thursday), and if that worked, we could have a new system installed and running no later than Tuesday! We jumped on that, and here it is, Tuesday and there's heat (and AC) in our rental.
The old system (15+ years old) was removed, and the new installed with a few extras included in a really nice looking, clean, professional manner. The techs that did the install were over the top polite, personable, respectful, prompt and moved with a purpose.
We worked with Steve, over the phone and texting, for the administrative side of things, and what a "can do" guy.
He gets answers, and has solutions for some of those questions that always seem to come up.
They have a financing option that was beyond shocking: Zero interest for well qualified applicants! Yes...ZERO! who does that these day's!!!

My wife, my tenant, and I highly recommend them.

Excellent from start to finish. Steve answered all my questions throughout the process and got me exactly what I was looking for and at a great price. Installation team was on-time, professional and the high-quality workmanship shows.
About a month after the install, the thermostat turned out to be faulty. Their post-sales support was just as good as the initial install. They had Austin out the very next day to replace it. He was professional, efficient, and had everything back up and running quickly. They delivered the kind of follow-up service you hope for but rarely get. Highly satisfied. -
All of the people that installed and set up our system were great to work with and answered all of my questions as we went along. That includes everyone I had contact with throughout the process. I have already recommended Rainier to a friend who wants to add AC to his home in Sumner.

Wow! By far the best out of all the companies I called! Had a great price on installing a complete home heating and air conditioning system along with an Aero service to minimize my heating loss in my duct work. Mike, Steve and crew were fantastic, always replied back quickly to all my questions and concerns, sometimes even after normal business hours!! The install crew REALLY did a fantastic install job with all the duct work and trim flashing etc. They showed me how to operate the system and were easy to understand, and were very pleasant. Very pleased, And most of all how quiet my furnace is compared to my old one that sounded like a jet engine when it started up. I am really sold on the Daikin furnaces, they have a great warranty. This company REALLY wants to make sure you are happy and go out of their way, and they have done just that for our home!!
Ok after 1 year they came back for an annual service. Matt the technician was on time and very professional. He explained everything and made some very useful suggestions I appreciated his advice and as always their professionalism and friendly demeanor. Always happy to have this Rainier Heating and Cooling as my first choice in my home heating and air conditioning needs !!
Had Alex out today 08/27/25 to look at the furnace, and like all the previous visits Rainier Heating and air do an exceptional job! Alex was very knowledgeable and did an excellent job and it only reconfirms why I chose to have Rainier heating and air to install and maintain my furnace and air conditioning system.

I had 4 bids for installation of a ductless heat pump. Steve came out and was not only my first bid, but he was knowledgeable and had the best quote. He was able to answer all my questions and quickly responded when I had some follow up questions. Installation was very a very smooth process. They were respectful of my home cleaned everything upon finish. I couldn’t have been happier with this whole process and the fact that Steve was not a pushy salesperson. Their professionalism exuded from every aspect of the process. I HIGHLY recommend Rainier Heating and Cooling to everyone!

The technician Alex performed the annual cleaning and maintenance of our furnace. He does a very thorough job. He knows what he is doing, he is efficient, and friendly. Katie, who I talked with on the phone to make my appt. is delightful and very organized. It is easy to do busness with Rainier.

We bought an old house in Tacoma but unfortunately, the radiant heat system in the floors failed. Rainer installed a new system, high velocity hvac by Unico, that is made for old houses without established duct systems. The work was done in a timely manner by trained personnel for two floors. Excellent work by a talented group who were most patient in answering questions. As expected, some fine tuning (adjustments) was needed after the installation and it was completed in a timely and most cheerful manner. Rainer deserves ten stars, but the best compliment is that we signed up with them for future maintenance service for this system and other equipment.

From quote to installation of the mini split in our house, everyone we interacted with was very friendly, professional, responsive, and knowledgeable. We had a great experience and highly recommend the team at Rainier Heating & Cooling!

My heater suddenly stopped blowing heat, so I called A+ Services. They had done my septic and a recent plumbing estimate. However, they explained a $200 house call and a $200 hourly charge (rounded barely a few dollars). When I explained that the heater was 18 years old, they mentioned that this was the average lifespan for a furnace. So I made the appointment with a minimum expectation of $400 and a possibility of a replacement…big money. So I decided to get a second opinion and asked my AI (GROK) for the best rated, least expensive hvac near me…RAINIER HEATING AND COOLING popped right up. He just left. Dirty sensor on the inducer motor. Cleaned all and made an assessment updating me on the condition of our furnace. A great young technician, Austin, gladly smiled and said, $149!! You should’ve seen me smile. My jaws almost hurt!!
A+ Services served us well, but I’m going to let this story speak for itself. -
Rainier Heating & Cooling is quality service, quality product and quality staff. I purchased a heat pump from them several years ago and cannot say enough about the outstanding experience. Recently my heat pump had to be stored for 6 months during construction on the building. They made having it reinstalled seamless. I don't write reviews but this is one company that you should absolutely do business with.

I had a great experience with this company during a recent furnace tune-up. The technicians arrived on time, were professional, and did an excellent job. Everything was explained clearly, and the work was done efficiently and thoroughly. I truly appreciate their attention to detail and the quality of their service. I’m very grateful and would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for reliable and professional HVAC service.

Steve was great, he came over and seemed like he really knew his stuff, we walked around the property to find the best place to put the heat pump. He assured us that the heat pump wouldn’t keep us awake during running hours and sure enough, he is exactly right. We picked the Daikin 3 ton for our house and so far, it seems to be working great. I could ask Steve a question and he would get back to me with answers as soon as he could.
The 1st installation went smoothly, I moved out our cars and everyone was friendly, I asked if there was anything that they needed, but they said, nope we’re going to get started. So, I started working. My first issue came with the running of the thermometer, they asked if we could change the wall, which I agreed to, then drilled into the floor, through to the ceiling of the garage. I didn’t know that that was the plan, I initially thought that they were going to snake a wire through the walls to where the thermometer was. When I agreed to the new location, a different electrician came up and drilled into the wall underneath a picture that I said I was willing to move with the initial electrician. The hole that was drilled was at chest height and my 2-year-old would’ve been able to reach it, so they drilled a second hole, with the agreement someone was going to come at another time and patch the hole. The work that was completed, did not live up to my standards. The wiring was snaked through the garage doors and clamps weren’t measured out, it looked like they just wanted to get the job done as soon as possible. Since it was snaked through the top of the garage door, the garage door opening and closing kept hitting the insulation for the coolant line, which made me uncomfortable, so I messaged Steve stating that it was unacceptable and didn’t look any way that I liked. He got back to me and scheduled another installation a month later to fix the job. I just wish that they would’ve talked to me about how they were going to run the line instead of it being the way it was run through a finished, with ceiling, garage.
The electricians company came by and fixed the holes in the wall, which I now have to paint, like I said, when Steve came by he told me that sometimes it even takes the electricians a couple hours to snake a line through the house.
The second installation was fine, it seemed like the installers, which were the ones from the first installation were a little annoyed, but Austin came by and told me that they should’ve made the lines at straight as possible and measured off the front of the garage to make it look nicer. I said fine because I don’t know what else they would do, I was hoping they could potentially go through the joists, which I've been asked twice why they didn't do it that way initially and it was never asked to do it that way (which im now contemplating hiring someone to do it that way) or cover the line since the garage is, like I said a finished garage with a ceiling to it. So they ran the line, they cut a new hole in the side of the house then filled it with foam, I’ve been told they’re going to have someone come by and finish the hole again, but have yet to hear back from Austin or Rainier about that. Which comes to the thermometer wire, since they ran the wire with the initial run of the coolant and wiring, the thermometer wire is now on it’s own run, not with the coolant line. So now it looks off because they aren’t ran alongside each other. Once they were done they asked how it looked, which… like I said with what they can do is fine, but I noticed that between the ceiling and the garage door it seemed to be lower, lo and behold, the garage door when opening and closing hit the insulation even harder than before. So, they removed the clamp and installed a silver one that they tightened down as hard as they could, just seemed they were trying to finish as fast as they could.
Overall, maybe it was the not explaining how it was going to look and being run and seeming like it was a rushed job, I have been very disappointed with the install. -
I’m so happy with my experience with Rainier Heating & Cooling. From the friendly scheduling staff to the estimator and install team, everyone was great to work with. They took the time to explain my options, helped me choose what made sense for my home and budget, and had the install scheduled just two days later. The install itself was quick, clean, and professional. I’d absolutely recommend them.

I don’t think I can say enough good things about the rainier team. Steve came over to give us an estimate. He was incredibly knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. He was very straightforward and I didn’t feel at any time that he was pressuring us for the business or trying to upsell us product (like a previous business had done, trying to talk us into replacing our whole furnace). We went with a heat pump and were able to schedule the installation within a couple of weeks. Fast forward to installation day, his team showed up early and prepared. They were respectful of the property and worked efficiently to get the job done. I HIGHLY suggest picking rainier for your HVAC job.

Rainier Heating was TOP NOTCH!! From the initial walkthrough and quote with Steve to the install with Austin. Rainier Heating installed a new Variable Speed Heat Pump which is SUPER quiet and sits tucked up against the house. They offer a variety of great options at a very fair price point. They weren’t the cheapest option which was okay. I was looking for quality as well as a family owned company that will be there when I need them. Mike, the owner, was always available with answers to my questions. If you are in the market for a new heating or cooling system, they offer all of the utility rebates as well. Thank you Rainier Heating…!!!

We worked with Rainier Heating & Cooling for a commercial install at a restaurant and we highly recommend!!!!
My family owns Sorci's Italian Cafe in Sumner and we have been battling the high temperatures during the WA summers. These temps put our kitchen at 105 degrees and force us to shut down. We have contemplated getting AC for a few years now, but never went through with it because the quotes we received were unimpressive and no company around made us feel "warm & fuzzy" like Rainier did. Steve was such a pleasure to work with and made the experience a breeze! They provided exceptional care for us and our business and we cannot recommend them enough. Thank you Rainier! Our staff and customers are eternally grateful for your help!! -
Joshua was friendly, professional, helpful, informative, and respectful. He stayed on task and made suggestions for a better running system. Recommended services or suggested tips to help make sure our system runs properly and lasts its lifetime. Would highly recommend his services
